We spend 5 months of the year in L.A. and 7 months in Houston. I needed an L.A. dentist and the son of a very close friend of my husband's was a dentist who attended Tufts in Boston. He recommended Dr. Sadie. She has an ivy league education, but she isn't cocky. I love her. I have Sjogrens disease which causes dry mouth. Thus, I have a great deal of decay and must have my teeth cleaned 4 times a year. I have a very good cosmetic dentist in Houston too. I had 12 crowns in one year and probably paid for her daughter's private law school. I have had two implants and now I am looking at a third. Dr. Sadie treats me like an old friend. I have complete confidence in her. Last Friday one of my teeth broke off at the gum line. My husband and I thought that just the crown had come off. It was 3:30 P.M. and we were having an early dinner or late lunch. She asked me how long it would take before I could get to her office. Within a half hour we were there and she was waiting. We learned that my tooth broke off at the gum line and I needed to see a periodontist or oral surgeon to dig out the piece of tooth left under the gum line and then start the implant process. She had this little hand held scanner device which I have never seen before to make a temporary bridge for me until I could receive the implant. I was in her chair for over an hour. She could not have been nicer or kinder. Her dog Cali sits on your lap so you don't get nervous. I had a dentist who didn't believe in nova Caine, and I had a great deal of decay. He began drilling and filling my cavities at 3 without Novocain. When I was 15 I learned about Novocain which my affluent mother could well afford. I then demanded to see a good dentist who gave me Novocain. What my mother did was cruel , and I get anxious when I am in the dentist's chair, so usually I need Nitrous. However, if Cali is available having her on my lap is all the comforting I need. She is a sweet dog who fell asleep on my lap and gave me that additional comforting when I so needed. it. When I have my teeth cleaned Dr. SAdie always inspects each tooth in my mouth something my Houston dentist does not do. My Houston dentist looks at any X-rays and the hygienist will alert her to any issues. However, Dr. Sadie checks you out herself. I am surprised by the comment that a man made about being dismissed without reason. I have never found Dr. Sadie dismissive. She makes a point of getting my X-Rays from Houston so that I am not exposed to unnecessary radiation. She has never suggested unnecessary work. In fact, she once recommended extensive work on one tooth. This was the end of September, and we were returning to Houston at the beginning of Nov. Charges there are a little but not much lower. However, I should have let her do the work. Before I could attend to it in Houston, that tooth broke off at the gum line, and I ended up with the far more expensive implant. The treatment rooms are a bit cramped due to the high cost of office space in Beverly Hills. However, the chairs are comfy, and they face a big window. She has several air purification machines which she purchased during Covid. When you face the ceiling, you stare up at all these humorous and colorful stickers that she put up there for patients. The periodontist that she set me up with was very responsive and professional. I am sure the job will be well done when it is finally completed. My husband and I feel lucky we found Dr. Sadie. My husband, a physician himself is very particular when it comes to his teeth. He too is happy with her. read more

Sadie Mestman is the BEST!!!!!! I have been going to Sadie for years but last week was the ultimate Doctor/ Patient experience It was Monday night and my tooth starting aching. I woke up at 2 am Tuesday morning with a major throbbing tooth ache. I was freaking out because I was supposed to be catch a flight and be heading to Shanghai China at 1 pm. What to do? At 4:30 am I emailed and FB messaged her and at 5:30 am she text me to call her I called her and explained the pain and she said she could not help me but knew who could At 5:45 am she gave me the name of Dr Bead Seto in Santa Monica and said be there at 7 am and he will see you and that he is the best at what he does At 7 am I arrived. By 8:30 am he finished my root canal, put in a permanent filling and a new crown. Wow!!! And I also made my flight to Shanghai almost pain free!!! Sadie is the best because she is not only a great dentist but she cares and has a great network of other dental experts within her ecosystem I highly recommend her! read more

EXCEPTIONAL! I only wish I had discovered her sooner. Dr. Mestman will be my dentist for the rest of my life! She always spends A LOT of time with me... her staff is wonderful (I could even tell this over the phone the first time I called her office)... she's gentle and kind... she knows/uses the most innovative techniques... her fees are extremely reasonable... her staff even offered to submit claims to my dental insurance (even though she's an out-of-network provider for me.) Perhaps most importantly, I TRUST HER! She is trying to save one of my teeth from needing a root canal. (I honestly think the dentists I've had in the past would have immediately gone the root canal/implant route, which is more lucrative for them). Dr. Mestman also spent a considerable amount of time during my initial visit teaching me about teeth and oral hygiene. I learned so much-things no other dentist had taken any time to explain to me. COVID PRECAUTIONS: The most incredible I've seen! Booties for patients to put over their shoes before entering. A small opening in the door to take patients' temperature before entering. Disposable goggles for patients to wear. Dr. Mestman wears an amazing respirator mask. (I don't know what it's called, maybe a powered/air purifying mask, with a respiration tube. I've never seen anything like it before.) She also has huge air purifiers that cost thousands of dollars each in her office! Dr. Mestman is a really great dentist if you're looking for a "home" dentist on the Westside. She is really nice, honest, straightforward and gives you good tips about taking care of your teeth. I feel like my mouth is always healthy after a visit there and I know that they'll tell me if I'm messing up somehow (thankfully, my teeth are in pretty good shape). One of Dr. Mestman's dental hygienists (I think that's the right term), Claire, is an absolute dreamboat. She is so upbeat and makes what is normally a really annoying, gratingly painful process of getting your teeth checked and cleaned into as easy of a process as it can be considering you are getting all kinds of metal objects put in your mouth over and over. Having Claire at the office is one of the best parts about going to the office because she is so competent, a gentle scraper, and will answer any questions with all the charm in the world (really, if you go, you'll understand and agree!). Another thing that's great about the office is that they don't use those painful X-ray things that get popped into your mouth. Theirs are pretty painless and quick! They provide parking validation in the building for up to 1 hour and 15 minutes. I hear that Dr. Mestman is really great with kids and that a lot of families will take their kids there as a result, but I haven't experienced it firsthand as a guy in his 20's. I can't say enough about Dr. Mestman and her whole team. She's gentle, friendly, wonderful with my kids and makes going to the dentist as pleasant and painless (literally and figuratively) as possible. She puts the care in dental care. She once met me at her office after hours to handle a quasi dental emergency. The thing I will always be most grateful for, however, is her help with my postpartum psychosis about four years ago. During a routine visit she saw how bad a shape I was in, not sleeping, hallucinating, etc. and she arranged for me to see her father, a world-renown endocrinologist who happened to specialize in women's postpartum issues. He saw me and virtually saved my life, and so therefore Sadie did too. I'll forever be indebted to both of them. read more

My own childhood dental experiences approimated those of Dustin Hoffman in "Marathon Man," so I routinely refer to dentists as sadists without much regret. We never even heard of novocaine at my dentist's office and the slow drill was his tool of choice. But my kid had to go to the dentist. Sadie Mestman was recommended to us and she started going at around 3 and she is now 15, our other kid is 11, and both are very satisfied patients. They LOOK FORWARD to going to the dentist, a trip I regarded as second only to being given the up close and personal tour of Auschwitz. This is what Sadie does for your children so that they love the dentist, even if flossing remains a perpetual chore. She has a soft, calm voice. She does not speak in pandering or paternal tones. She is earnest and kind. She practices preventive care. She treats your child -- she will wear any variety of cool animal masks (I believe bunny ears were my kids' favorites), she uses flavored gloves, flavored toothpaste and she either sings songs or tells long convoluted stories while she is examining your child's teeth. And best of all, she has an amazing assortment of trinkety prizes in a treasure chest that rival what the best of cheap amusement parks and Chuck E. Cheese have to offer. It's like a dream game show for a child: after being treated by this mellow, soft spoken bunny rabbit with bubble gum gloves and chocolate toothpaste, you get prizes! What 's great about this approach, is that even as the kids get older and the exam gets longer, and perhaps a little more uncomfortable, my kids feel so safe and secure in that chair, that they are fine with having their mouth "wide open" for 40 minutes. Nice lady, questionable ethics. I needed a lot of work when I first saw her several years ago. For some reason, after one visit she simply decided not to treat me. She was not very clear about communicating her reasons, offered no referral (other than to an endodontist) and that was that. I thought we enjoyed a friendly visit and her attitude afterwards was puzzling. She acted with disregard for my health needs, and that raises doubts about her overall practice and attitude toward her patients. read more

miss sadie and my teeth have been connected for over 20 years. sadie has seen me through cavities, root canals, gum issues, family deaths, personal problems, my career in the food industry, suggestions for holiday meals, etc., etc. she has been a big part of my life now that i think about it. i have been to many doctors in my life yet none have been so personal than has sadie mestman. yet we are not friends in the strictest sense. we are friendly and we are personal when it comes to the health or at times, non health of my teeth. I guess the best thing that i can say about Sadie is that she cares and she has a personal, professional interest in your teeth. I also must mention Claire here in that she is also plays a large role as a Hygienist Supreme who helps me (nay: encourages, advises, coerces) keep my teeth in primo condition! (i read someone else's review in which she states that Sadie dons a mask for her children so as to make the children comfortable. i had to chuckle about that. but it makes a whole lot of sense and right in line with what i know about Sadie). read more

Dr. Mestman is a caring and gentle dentist. She is the first dentist to every properly anesthetize me in 45 years of receiving dental care. Even the kids love her when she puts on a mask for them when they come in. I have also been going to Sadie for many years and if you look at that photograph and think you see a caring and lovely person you are right, Sadie is a capable perfectionist who is interested in doing the best job and cares about her patients and her profession. She also cares so much about the children she treats and if I were looking for a dentist to take my children to there would be no question it would be Sadie. She even decorates the ceiling with butterflies and other relaxing fun things so you are not just staring at the ceiling when you are in the chair.
