GAS STATION REVIEW: Let me start by saying Aaron gets 5 stars. He stepped in and handled his coworker who is so confused and easily irritated.  I stopped at the Safeway gas station today and had a very disappointing experience with one of the cashiers. She is the older lady with dark hair and has a bad attitude. I think her name is Johna. Negative stars if I can goes to her. She couldn't ring me up because she can't do simple math or knows how to use the register. Easily confused and then gets upset. Aaron was right next to her and thankfully stepped in and handled the situation with professionalism and kindness. I asked for $40 in gas and 2 super lotto quick picks and 1 mega million. I thought the mega million was $3, so when I was told it was $2, I said I'd like 3 super lotto quick picks and one mega. I didn't think that was so confusing or too much to ask for. The cashier immediately seemed confused about how to process the transaction and became increasingly frustrated while trying to use the register. I repeated myself and said $40 in gas and $5 in lotto. I put down $45 in cash on the table. Then she start saying, "she asked for 2 and now she wants 3." Then she starts pressing all these buttons and says, "$45 In lotto tickets??" Good thing Aaron was there and he saw the whole thing. He heard me when I asked for the tickets and was helping get the tickets.  Aaron noticed what was happening and stepped in to help. He was patient, calm, and respectful, and quickly resolved what was actually a very simple transaction. He even made a lighthearted comment when handing me the tickets, saying "it only takes five dollars to be a millionaire," which brought a smile after an awkward interaction. What was most disappointing happened as I was leaving. I overheard the cashier say "she's so annoying," referring to me. I had been polite the entire time and was simply waiting to complete a basic purchase. I remained quiet as I saw her losing her sh*t.  It's concerning when a customer is spoken about like that within earshot. Aaron demonstrated exactly what good customer service looks like, but the attitude and lack of professionalism from the other employee left a very negative impression. Safeway management should recognize Aaron for his professionalism and also address the behavior I experienced from this employee. read more

The only store in Roseville that sells milk at $8 a gallon and expires in two days. Consistently old products on the shelf

Customer Service Review. I needed to exchange $10 in coins for cash. I waited for a full five minutes at customer service. Staff were busy. A few of them look at me from registers and say nothing. So I go to the Starbucks stand and ask them if I can trade $10 in coins for cash and they tell me I have to use the coin counting machine that costs money. So I go back to guests services where a gentleman is waiting and one of the register people who looked at me before said to him "Did you need help?" How come I was ignored when those same staff looked at me? So then a staff member comes out to help him. There is a sign on the register saying they'll trade cash for pennys. So when I ask the staff member to trade my coins, she said we don't do that. I don't need silver. I only need pennys. I'm not there for what Safeway needs. I'm there for what I need. All that waiting and it's too much trouble for you to count $10 in silver? Plus, I heard a lot of chit chat behind that door they were working in. Not good service. read more

I came in to get a quick sandwich but was ignored by two employees and after several minutes of waiting a third employee made my sandwich but acted put out when I was asked for fresh cucumbers. She pointed to the shriveled cucumbers and said those were cut yesterday. I stated they weren't fresh. She then told me she'd have to go over to the produce section to get a cucumber which I said, OK. She then checked in the fridge and found a cucumber gave me three thin slices and because the experience was so frustrating. I just decided to quickly get my sandwich and leave. All the produce looks like it was a day old there was no indication that the employees who saw me were going to help me. They didn't aknowledge me and I had no idea if anyone was ever going to come to make the sandwich. The process, the quality of the food and the employees lack of even acknowledgement in addition to having to convince the sandwich maker to agree to give me fresh vegetables were the reasons for the low score. read more

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!! It depends on LOCATION! I have a Safeway 1.1 miles from my house that the customer service leaves so much to be desired!!! The meat department SUCKS! Bakery? Expired food. Customer service? Nope! Just terrible! Now, if I drive past my "neighborhood" store (and it's a GREAT neighborhood) and go to any of the 3 other Safeway Supermarkets within 5 miles of my house, COMPLETELY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE! OUTSTANDING Customer Service and Quality products in EVERY DEPARTMENT! So, my nearest store (Roseville Parkway & Pleasant Grove) = 1 Star at best. I love the Safeway On woodcreek and blue Oaks. They're amazing. They got a great team. Anything you need you got it you talk to Sierra she's a super super Duper manager. She's boss lady and she's really really good. She takes care of her employee. She recognizes them and let them know how awesome they all are. There's Alina there's Dottie there's Aaron there's Kevin. These people are managers and Charita. They're all amazing managers. they're all amazing. Just go in there and you will not be disappointed with Safeway On Woodcreek and Blue Oaks. Last Friday hubby and I came in to do some much needed grocery shopping, including our date nights in and stopped by US Bank's ATM as well. Browsing around I spotted a section of Claire's branded products with the most adorable Valentines Day accessories we just couldn't pass up for our daughter! And as we walked through the store I couldn't help but grab more for her, from stickers to candy lol and even some necessary snacks packs and Valentines her school needed that included a card for her teacher! The steak, kimchi fried rice and banana bread hubby made was amazing and the discounted iced carrot walnut pound cake was a winner for hubby and our daughter(I have a slight reaction to walnuts)! And yes I spotted my favorite dark chocolate and bought them out, lol I may have an addiction! I would recommend this location, just inspect apples, their were some bad ones and we'll definitely be returning, the staff are friendly and we were happy with our purchases! SYOY! :-) read more

I live 200 yards down the street from this Safeway. Have shopped here frequently. Though I am becoming a Nugget Market fan with their new store across the street. This is a typical Safeway that's been in place 20 some years. Shows its age when compared to new palatial Hypermarkets. But let's not be too picky. You can find just about anything you need here. Quality of the baked goods, delicatessen items, fresh produce and meats are all quite acceptable. I have had a few sandwiches made here. They all were tasty and well made. And the folks who made them were friendly conversationalists. The Safeway gas station in front usually has the lowest prices in all of Roseville. I always fill my Honda's tank here. Don't be a Safeway hater, be cool, go with the flow. Peace out! read more

This store seems to be going backwards in quality, service and just about everything else. Stopped in to get sandwiches for the family and some of which are allergic to gluten. The deli has always accommodated allowing us to bring gluten-free bread from the shelf. The young lady that helped me today said that they don't allow that. I said you've always done it, she said it has to be Safeway brand. I told her that the Safeway brand does not make gluten-free bread. She said I don't even know what to tell you. I left and went to Raleys right down the street where their deli allowed me to get whatever gluten-free bread off the shelf and they accommodated everything we needed. Stop going to the store and start going to Raleys for the nugget. read more

I've got to be honest... I have a different opinion of this store in the last few years. Different management maybe? I used to come in here when Cal was the store manager and he should greet everyone with a beautiful smile. This store is conveniently located in West Roseville on the corner of Blue Oaks and Woodcreek Oaks Blvd. It is a almost a small shopping mall with a nail salon next door, a dry cleaners, a U.S. Bank, and at the back of the parking lot, another few banks and a Carl's Jr. One of my favorites, being a Roundtable a hop, skip, and jump away. Sure, this store is convenient, but I have been to a much more organized Safeway. This store has narrow aisles, dimmer lighting than other stores and the bakery selection isn't always the best. The only time I stop here is for something quick. Main things like hamburger meat. Broccoli. Something I know they won't be out of. Otherwise, this is my least favorite Safeway. If you wanna catch me at a good store, I will see you at the Safeeay in Lincoln. read more

It's not just the pharmacy that's crap it's the stores themselves. I just went in before going to school and slightly browsed for something to eat. Disappointed to find everything overpriced. Guess they're passing on their union dues onto the customer through $9 juice. I went to the bathroom and had to go. Guess they thought I was trying to steal t.p. and their broken soap dispenser. They sent some blonde short little white boy who called out " maintenance:" I finished washing my hands with their jacked up soap. The money they're extorting from customers is probably going straight to administration instead of store maintenance. On my way put the boy gestures me to get out and I told him about the broken soap dispenser. As a reminder you do have options for where you choose to shop, how you're treated (especially by over arrogant union employees) and what kind of shopping experience you choose to have. I'm new to the area, and this is the closest Safeway from where I am staying, i have been in there twice. The meat department is sad, not a very good selection, and all of meats look grey. I came last week to get two strawberry parfaits and there wasn't any. Today I called to check if there was any before I came and customer service picked up the phone. Her name was Jess. She was great. She put me on hold. Checked. And told me there wasn't any but the lady in the bakery department said to give her 20 minutes. I asked for two. And Joelle from bakery was so friendly. The service has always been great but today the butcher (Mariah) went above and beyond today and cut me some chuckeye steaks out of a roast because there weren't any on the shelf. She was awesome. The second thing I came for was organic lettuce and it was nowhere to be found. Not looking for pre packaged lettuce but the single heads. Didn't see them here.The red grapes and avocado looked decent so I grabbed some of each. I usually shop at the Sierra college Safeway and this one was a huge disappointment. This is our Safeway and we shop here often! Sometimes I need to stop by for just a few quick items and there's always a surprise deal such as cake slices for a dollar, sushi, giant sub, or eight piece fried chicken meal for like an unbelievable $5. Renae usually helps us at deli department, she's quick to notice if we aren't attended to. Today was Halloween and coincidentally we again came in for a quick shop and was greeted by Safeway staff members didn't catch her and his name but she's usually overseeing self check out and always delights us with her smile. She saw that we were fully dressed up in costume and we got five dollars off our entire purchase I was so ecstatic yet another great deal! Recommend shopping at this location before 9PM, as they staff soft at night. Makes sense for the business, but not optimal for a good shopping experience). The back of the store was chock full of freight that needed to be pushed to the floor. I roamed the store for about 15 minutes, looking for someone to assist me with a product search (I didn't want to bother the cashiers who were busy with customers). Did not find one soul to help...15 minutes. Needing to wrap up my shopping trip (if I weren't picking up items to take to my parents, I would have simply left), I asked a cashier if they carried a product, he said yes, said where, and I shared I had gone down that isle four times already. Cashier said he would help (moments later I hear on the PA system...customer needs help on isle 13). Five or so more minutes, no one showed up. I return to the (same) cashier to checkout and he asked if I had received help. I told him no one showed up so I gave him. One star is for the cashier that did attempt to help me, despite being the only cashier open with a line of customers he had to tend to. read more

This is one of the only Safeways in west Roseville if not the only one. I can honestly say that I've never had a bad experience here. The staff is always friendly and their turnover seems to be low. I've lived in the area for years and have seen the same people for just as long. With the new grocery stores popping up on every corner around them, I am sure they are sweating. Before the opening across the street they redecorated, clearly hoping to fit a better more modern aesthetic. It works. This store seems to always be busy, I'm guessing because of the area growing but every time I come in the employees are always so helpful. Friendly staff that is always willing to help you out. yay! I shop at this Safeway weekly and never had any issues or problems. The store offers a Starbucks at the entrance, a deli that makes yummy sandwiches, a nice wine selection, a Blockbuster rental box, and the list goes on and on....... Meat: always looks nicely cut and packaged. Produce: always looks fresh. Pharmacy is located in the rear of the store between the milk/dairy and the meat department. Pharmacist seems knowledgeable and willing to provide information when asked. Nice grocery store to shop at! read more

I usually don't like to leave a negative review unless it's really bad, especially of a store I've been a customer for the last 18 years. I placed and paid online for an order this morning for in store pick up for early this evening. I ordered some Hagan Daz ice cream as my friend told me they were offering a good deal on the ice cream, also included on the order some strawberries and Chicken broths. I received a notification mid-day from Safeway that my order has been canceled. Confused, I called the store to find out why my order was canceled as I did not cancel the order. The associate says I need to talk their manager and transferred me but came back on the phone and told me that she spoke to the manager and that the order was canceled because there was a glitch on the pricing of the Hagan Daz ice cream on their online app so they cancel my order. They would not honor the pricing. Devastated I will not be picking up the ice creams that I was looking forward to picking up later. Yes Devastate! we are talking about ice cream here. I am so disappointed at the way they handled this. I understand that they learned there is a glitch and that pricing wasn't what it showed online but it's not my fault there was a glitch and they should have honored it. They have my email address and my phone number, at lease reach out to me and explain the issue and not just cancel my order and leave it up to me, the customer to find out why I no longer have an order in place. The lack of communication and the lack of customer service in this instance has now lost me as a customer. I am more than happy to do my business somewhere else. read more

OLD FOOD! Safeway =old food, that has expired, over priced, bad service. I honestly cannot believe how much old food Safeway keeps on their shelves, stuff that is expired, I have purchased beverages, and miscellaneous items that tasted very bad or odd, and many times I have looked at the expiration date and it's very old. They never answer the phone when I call, not one time have I gotten a hold of anyone at Safeway when I call. Hopefully the main manager gets fired. I recommend Raleys! read more

Every now and then I'm stupid enough to forget what this place is like and I go back. I end up waiting around in the deli for 10 or 15 minutes for someone to help me. This place is overpriced, understaffed, and full of union employees that are just riding out the rest of their contractual obligation so they don't really want to help you. It's lunchtime; maybe have more than one person making sandwiches for a line of people between 11 AM and 1 PM. But at least I have my Safeway club card. That way I only have to pay nine dollars for my sandwich, drink, and bag of chips instead of the regular price of $72. read more

at about 6:50pm i came in to use the ATM and purchase 1 item. i was on my lunch break so my time was limited. the item i needed to purchase was for a medical issue that needed to be addressed and was in a locked cabinet. there is a button next to the cabinet that said "push for help!" ive seen these before and have used them. i pushed the button. a voice came from the button that said someone would be right with me. i waited, patiently, after about 10 minutes, i went to the front of the store and asked a cashier if they had anyone working to open the cabinet. he said yes and called someone over the store intercom. i went back to wait, i even pushed the button again. i waited about 5-7 minutes more, still no one came. then went to the ATM. once finished i asked another cashier if they had anyone to open the cabinets, she said yes, i informed her that i had been waiting about 20 minutes and someone even called over the intercom , at this point, my lunch break was over and did not have time to wait for someone else to call. i did not get the 1 item i came in for because apparently no one was available to open the cabinet. i worked the rest of my shift suffering with my medical condition and didnt get to eat lunch. they were not even busy. i could have gone to a different store, and eaten lunch if i had known that this store wasnt going to address customers needs and waste their time. i didnt even get an apology. i used to work for safeway, i know how high their standards are, if i was a secret shopper, the person with the key would have been written up. i will not be a return customer and i would give zero stars if that was an option read more
