While yes his diagnosis is not a happy ending, he was seen within a week of me reaching out to every vet in Stockton as the Emergency vet on Fremont referred me to VCA in Sac- they were going to make my cat wait 1.5 months for his first appt. UC Davis was an option but due to Covid19 you needed to call in first. I'm glad I did, I would have driven for over an hour, and would have been sent home without him being seen as they don't have a cardiologist on staff at night, and the nurse on the phone didn't feel his symptoms justified him coming all the way out there. They too had amonth wait to see cardiologist. I finally was told about Sage, the vet who would see him called and made arrangements for him to be seen by a cardiologist through the emergency room. 4 medications later, he is doing so much better. Will he always have dilated.cardiomyopathy, yeah, but he is a strong and healthy spoiled brat, and we are lucky to have him with us. Thank you, Dr. Waxman, and your cardio team. Thank you Julia for helping Z get his sotalol meds changed. He is much happier now. read more

I feel that our dog was failed today. A dog that goes flying off the 3rd story of an apartment building and is limping should have X-rays done to rule out any breaks then should be put on kennel rest to give the mussels time to heal not the other way around. Dropping a bag of meds out the door because you don't want to come in contact with the owner is not ok. The meds should have been explained. Almost dropping the dog after you were told 10 times I don't want you to pick her up because she's gonna wiggle out of your arms an refusing to do it any other way and then when she wiggles out of your arms you almost drop her? Handing a leash loosely around the neck and holding the top of the leash at the pinch of your fingers when you have been told this dog is a FLIGHT RISK! Is all unacceptable! 130% unacceptable. This is why I don't come here & will never come back. Thanks but no thanks. Also it bothers me that the call the techs nurses. They are not nurses they are vet techs. Just got our 11 year old golden girl from a night spent at Sage. They treated her for I Injuries caused by a pit bull attack last night. It was so traumatic but the care she got from Dr. LeBlanc & staff was amazing. They were so calm & friendly& explained everything so thoroughly. We knew she was in very good hands. They were also very reasonable with their fees, even refunding some of the original deposit we had paid. I highly recommend Sage for any emergency care for your pet. I have been to Sage several times with 2 of my dogs. It's a state of the art facility that is open 24hrs/7 days a week and costs more because of it. The staff is kind, compassionate experts in their field. Their professionalism is what I notice most every time I have been there, which has been in less than ideal circumstances. My truck tailgate malfunctioned and my dog fell out (inside his crate) onto the freeway. I was doing freeway speeds and thank God, there was no traffic. I was able to get my dog and his crate safely back in the truck. I called my mom who researched an emergency vet open after hours on a Thursday night. She contacted TVAEC (after seeing all the positive reviews) and let them know the situation. They said to bring my dog right in and they would take care of him. They cared for my dog and gave me updates as necessary. The cost to care for my dog was not outrageous as would be expected from an after-hours care facility. It was not much more than my normal vet would have charged. They faxed everything they did to my vet and gave me copies of the X-rays. They even did a follow-up call to ensure my dog was re-cooperating properly and did not need any additional care prior to me going back home to Reno. My dog is fine and I know it has to do with the experience and care he received from the Staff at TVAEC. I am thankful for the reviews that led my mom to contact them in the first place. I felt I needed to let other know there is a place to take their pets after hours, on weekends and holidays that will treat their family members as family. We brought our dog in for surgery recommended by our vet. The surgeon assured our vet she could perform the procedure but on the day of, she kept wanting to do more diagnostics...totaling thousands of dollars. We agreed because this is our furbaby. As it turns out, no surgery and every expensive test was inconclusive. I went to get a second opinion elsewhere and they were able to identify the issue right away, without being able to review the expensive CT scan we paid for because the surgeon knew what they were looking for. Long story short, I have used Sage many times before for other pets but will no longer consider them for the future. I felt like they didn't know what they were looking for and strung me along. read more

This place is amazing! We transferred our dog Comet here from Vet Care where he was diagnosed with AIHA (which they didn't even tell us while he was in their care). They were recommended to me by Comet's vet, and now I completely know why. I have not experienced a single doctor or nurse there that has not come across as knowledgeable and caring. Doctors Bennett, Valverde, Ree and Morris were not only top notch in their respective specialties, but always took the time to listen, communicate his status, test results, next steps and answer all questions by phone as well as email (COVID times). The above doctors, as well as ALL techs (especially Shannon) and receptionists could not have been more genuine in the care, concern, kindness and love they showed "Bear". Every upbeat, happy greeting from the dedicated techs was met by a happy dog ready to get in the door to visit his friends. We were overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness of the many handwritten notes in the card and book, and the beautiful flower arrangement we received. It is the entire experience of the Sage team that sustains, comforts and helps heal us at this time. It is my hope that this review will help anyone in need of an Oncologist and/or surgeon to know they are in excellent hands with this team. These heartless crooks should be avoided. I was recommended out to them as "specialists" who could care for my long sick dog. They made my poor dog wait in agony with distended lungs for hours without care before giving him some fluids and making us wait 5 hours in a parking lot to simply try to talk us in to letting our pet go rather than providing answers. At one point I asked to speak to the vet as the assistant was out in the parking lot going over our options "the assistant told us we had already spoken to the vet for long enough and would not have the vet speak to us. Took another hour to finally get our dog back and transferred to a different actually caring center but not before they charged me $900 for a bag of fluids. This was a traumatizing event, it happened around August and I can only bring myself to relive it now. Do better for your pet then Sage and it's pretentious staff. Sacramento and Modesto have far better care. read more

We had to come here for our dog's surgery as no one else would touch a soft tissue issue in a diabetic dog. The facility is clean. Some of the staff is nice. The surgeon (Dr. Dorsch) was wonderful in explaining everything over the phone both before and after surgery. However, we are lower middle class just trying to save our middle aged mutt. They tried to upsell a bunch of extra procedures that we declined. They went ahead and did one we asked them not to do, which cost an extra $400. We live over an hour away and plan to see our own local vet in followup. The one thing that bothers me the most is that they have not called to see how she is doing. It has been 5 days since we brought her home. Our own vet calls the next day if they just give her a shot! I am thankful to have the skilled surgeon, but would not consider SAGE for anything simpler. read more

Do not come here unless you have no other choice and money to burn. They are money hungry and will recommend a lot of unnecessary testing. Our pet had undergone an amputation procedure at bishop ranch vet and 13 days later the stitches in the middle came undone in the middle of the night and she started bleeding. With no other choice, we went to sage for the specialist to tell us that it is cancer. We decided to just have they watch her over the night to clot the bleeding. They quoted us $3,000 to redo the sutures and to have cancer testing performed. We decided against it and took her to bishop ranch vet the next day for them to tell us that it was just an opening in her sutures and that it would be $600-$800. It is unprofessional and questionable for someone to claim to be a specialist to confuse an suture opening with cancer. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. My cat had been on medication for a few years for a heart condition and it was working well. He started acting funny one day so I took him in. They kept him two nights, gave him fluids etc. After the two nights they said that he was fine to come home and I picked him up. They didn't tell me of any concerns or signs to look out for. They released him telling me that he was fine and he just needed some rest. Well I took him home and he was not fine. He wouldn't eat (I had to feed him through a dropper) he was extremely lethargic and he had a funny smell to him (I would later discover online that it was the smell of his body shutting down and dying-I will never forget that putrid smell as long as I live). I called a few times and they just said to watch him. Finally after two days I took him back and when the nurse saw him she looked utterly panicked. She ran him back as fast as she could. A nurse came out a few minutes later and asked if they could do cpr and I said yes. Five minutes later he was dead. Why on earth would they have released him to me saying he was fine to go home? They gave me no indication that he was dying. He suffered immensely (which are my last memories of him thanks to Sage). Why couldn't they have detected that he was dying and advised me to put him down so that he would not have had to suffer so so greatly on his last few days on earth? I will never step foot in this establishment again. I love animals more than life itself and I hate to see them suffer. I don't want anyone to have to endure what my sweet baby did, and the pain and anguish I experienced as well. read more

In the past, as with many others, I had to use the "established" 24/7 pet hospital in Dublin with very unhappy results. It was the Fourth of July weekend, my regular vet was closed, and my cat needed some TLC after frolicking in oil skids under parked cars. (Did I mention this was an indoor cat that escaped? Bad cat, bad!) I did not want to relive previous experiences with the established 24/7 Dublin pet hospital. After calling Tri-Valley Animal Emergency Center and being given some very helpful advice over the phone about how I could handle the situation myself, I thought it would be best to let the professionals de-grease my feline friend. I was welcomed when I entered the building and explained the situation. Throughout everyone was happy to help, and did not give any impression I was wasting their time. After all, who wants to wash a uncooperative cat at 7AM? Thankfully everything worked out, my cat is de-greased and I was able to enjoy the 4th of July with my arms still attached. I will not lie - it was pricey, but it seemed reasonable and customary for an after-hours vet. I'd come here again if needed. read more

I am extremely satisfied with Sage Veterinary Hospital. My dog was referred to an orthopedic specialist and I appreciate that they didn't push a bunch of X-rays and things that were not needed. All it took was an exam to get the info we needed and Dr Valverde was so nice in her explanation. I would def travel far for this speciality hospital for anything that my local vet cannot handle. read more

I want to be understanding, I'm sure the doctors here are caring. That being said, my dog was taken in and admitted at noon and kept in a crate for over 12+ hours before getting what he needed done. We called multiple times and got conflicting information. We are beyond frustrated with how this was handled and are not impressed at all. Like I said, of course this is an er space and more urgent matters need to go first but waiting 12+ hours when he hasn't eaten or drank anything before he's taken care of after being attacked and bitten by another dog is ridiculous. Not impressed at all. Read and listen to the other one star reviews! I wish I had taken them more seriously. read more

I can't express enough how great this place is, the staff is wonderful and kind. But I have to mention, the greatest vet in the world, Dr. Le Blanc saved my Sasha. About two years ago, we brought him in so sick, at midnight. We were so happy they were opened. He had multiply things wrong. After a major surgery and a week at Sage. To date, Sasha my Yorkie, is still here and his sister Misha, is so happy her brother pull through. THANK YOU DR. LEBLANC!!! You are our vet for life! Also, my16 year old cat who was sick and had to be put down. Dr. LeBlanc made that experience so comforting. In the past when my animals were put down, it was so cold, on a metal table. But at Sage your on a couch and the Dr. gives you time to say good bye, then my cat was on a pillow, it was still sad, but the peaceful, I walk away feeling I did the right thing for Midnight, my sweet cat! read more

it is my opinion that you should run away from this place. I watched them drag my service dog down a hall way. They charged me $4600 for less than 48 hours at their Hospital. I would not ever consider bringing any of my pets there again. Please read all of the negative reviews on yelp before you consider using the place. Iron Horse vet is less than a block away and they are very compassionate. When I talked to the Administrator at Sage about what had happened at his hospital all he did was have his Insurance company call me. A hospital should be more than just a business, a hospital should be compassionate and caring. read more

I started taking my dog to sage many years ever since she was a puppy.. They helped me find out what was wrong with her when other vets were no help! My dog had her primary doctor I was happy taking my dog there! Until 2 weeks ago I had to take my dog in through emergency because she had trouble breathing and she was chocking like if she had something in her throat. We took her in they did X-rays and they said that the x-rays came out ok that there was nothing wrong. They send us back home.. 2 days passed by and my dog was the same she didn't get better so I took her back in through emergency and they took a look at her and that day her primary doctor was in but she doesn't look at emergency patients only appointment with her.. the emergency doctor that took a look at my dog told me that my dogs primary doctor took a quick look at her and told him to tell us to make an appointment with her so she can do bloodwork and X-rays on her to see what's going on.. so the emergency doctor couldn't do anything to my dog because her primary doctor told him to not do anything.. they only gave me nose drops just in case it was allergy.. I tried doing an appointment with the primary doctor but she was booked for the whole month‍ I got the nearest appointment just in case.. My dog was getting worse everyday so I took her to another vet to see if they could help me.. the vet where I took her did bloodwork,x-rays and ultrasound on my dog and it turned out my dog had a high infection that had spread around her whole body and it was to late to do anything.. we had to say goodbye to our beloved friend Sage was no help in this situation.. no vet should say to wait and make an appointment with the primary doctor.. I took my dog in through emergency for a reason!! read more

My dog is diabetic and in need of her insulin. I dropped her bottle of Vetsulin on the floor and it broke, spilling her medicine onto the floor. My dog has been to SAGE in Dublin before and treated for diabetes so I would have assumed that they would accommodate me in writing a prescription for a new bottle. Nope! They wanted to charge me to bring her in for emergency care. I find this to be ridiculous and not very compassionate. Now my dog has to go without her medication for a day (it's Sunday and my vet is closed). Complete BS!!! read more

I had to take my Smoky to Sage a few weeks ago. I have no doubt we would have lost him had we not taken him right in. He got bloat and it was very bad. Smoky received excellent care, major surgery. He is doing fantastic now. Jason was a huge help to us. He is very knowledgable and confident which was very reassuring for our situation. Called Sage to see if we could be seen this morning Saturday, smbecause my dog had vomited chewed up toys the day before and this morning he seemed lethargic and not himself. We were worried about a possible blockage and just wanted an X-ray or ultrasound to check. We arrived close to 9:00. They gave him an "exam" and came in with our estimate of $1000-2000, which included a host of other "tests". We asked if we could just get basically what we came there for and that was an X-ray or ultrasound. They agreed to after coming in the room asking us to decide right away on the treatment because the tech had an opening at 10:30 for an ultrasound. We decided to pay the almost $500 for the ultrasound. (Not including $150 to walk in the place). read more

I would give this place -5 stars if I could. I took my dog there today to see Dr.Holz for a dermatology appointment in Dublin. Everything seemed fine at first. However, my dog is fearful of people and won't go with strangers if they take their leash. I said that I would carry him to the scare because he was already trying to run away to the opposite side of the room. I carried him to the weighing station and after that they were going to take him into the room. I mentioned to Dr.Holz that I can help and walk him to the room because I knew he wasn't going to go because he was already trying to run away and I didn't want his leash to get pulled and him to have to be dragged into the room. Dr.Holz immediately became VERY defensive and hostile, saying that I was "accusing her", when all I did was request to walk my dog to the room. She got very defensive and claimed that I didn't trust her and she knows what she's doing. Which actually had nothing to do with the point at hand. My dog was pulling in the opposite direction, and to take him to the room, his leash would have to be pulled and forcefully taken into the room because no amount of treats will make him comfortable to leave with a stranger in an unfamiliar facility. All I did was make a simple comment and she went off on me. When my dog came back and I was talking to her technician, about a test where they would take a blood sample from my dog's jugular in his throat. I asked how long the procedure will take, what the process was like, etc. and the tech did not answer any of my questions about the exact process. Why on earth would i let you extract blood from my dog's jugular if you can't even provide me information about the process. I asked about how long it would take and she said she didn't know. What do you know? Do you know how to do your job? It also appeared to me that they did not see some of the rash areas/pimples on his arms. The doctor made no comment about it at all. The tech asked if I would like to have the doctor look at it again, and I said yes. She proceeded to take my dog's leash and my dog immediately began running and hiding to the opposite side of the room. The resulting action of the tech pulling on my dogs leash to take him to another room for a reexamination, while the pup was refusing to go with her would result in her pulling him/him getting dragged to the room (go figure). I took the leash from her and said that I will take him, to which she replied "You're making this 10x more difficult." Sorry, I don't want you pulling and dragging my dog into the other room? Would you prefer that you do that instead of letting me walk my dog to the room? Really? At the end of the appointment, I mentioned politely that I did not appreciate her harsh tone/lashing out at me when I asked to walk my dog after he had been weighed. She said "Yes, I was defensive because you made me defensive and you accused me," when in fact all I wanted to do was walk my dog to the room and make the process quicker because I knew he wouldn't run, pull or cause the leash-holder to have to pull on him. I don't understand why she even got defensive if she did nothing wrong like she claimed. By the end of the appointment I was so disappointed in her behavior that I decided to not proceed treatment for my dog with Dr.Holz. On walking out, I hear her technician mocking me and making comments on how I was concerned for my dog. Unfortunately, I don't remember her name, but she was a short, large woman with short hair and a horrible disposition. It might have been Amanda. Please avoid. I went to Dr.Holz because I read a good review about her, but my personal experience tells me otherwise. Take your dog somewhere else, please. Something about the whole situation just put me off and Dr.Holz's behavior was particularly sketchy. P.S. While I took my dog to the weighing center, I also noticed a very small dog sleeping in a cabinet drawer that was lined with some fabric. A dog in their care, in a drawer. Not on the table, in a bed or a crate, but in a DRAWER. Really??? Take that as you may, but Dr.Holz gets -5 stars from me. I wouldn't recommend her to my enemy. read more

My puppy had the misfortune of being bitten at the park on a Sunday. With his regular vet closed for the weekend, I took him to Sage Emergency Care to have his wound checked out. The ladies at the front desk were very nice and the check-in process was very quick - something I appreciated greatly with a sick dog in-tow. The vet on duty had great bedside manners and encouraged me to ask any questions that I may have with the procedure or billing. She took her time explaining the optional pre-op blood work and what will be done depending on the severity of his injury. While my puppy was undergoing surgery, I was able to step away to the PetSmart across the street to buy a cone and was notified when he woke up from the anesthesia. The price was not as bad as I was expecting, especially when the majority of the cost was for his aftercare medication. I was so grateful when a nurse helped me lift him into the backseat of my car after she saw I was having trouble. Our vet received all his test results the day after directly from Sage, and we received a thoughtful follow-up call from their office two days after just to make sure he was doing okay. read more

We found it necessary to use Sage because our personal vet (and even more local back-up ER option) was booked. Sage, Dublin was suggested and we are glad we chose them. Dr. Lukas as well as all attendants we interacted with were attentive and engaged with us, even under Covid conditions. Everyone was extremely thorough in asking the right questions, and explaining next steps. We left the clinic with well crafted directives and follow up info. What i love about this place is its sooo homey! I feel so comfortable in their lobby/lounge area that i could spend hours there! I have came here twice so far for emergencies that involved with my rabbits. My first rabbit had a cut in his ear from fighting with my other rabbit. This place is great because its 24/7/365! The 2nd time i came here involved with my other rabbit. She got sick and felt cold to the touch, so we came here because it was around midnight when this happened. It sucks when there is only one good rabbit vet named Dr. Harvey and she doesnt work 24/7 thats why we came here. read more

We brought our dog in a few days prior to another Sage (Concord) on Sunday when we saw our dog limping and hopping on one leg. They told us that our dog had a torn cranial cruciate ligament and would need surgery. They helped us set up an appointment. They recommended scheduling an xray appointment in the morning in order to have surgery afterwards the same day. I was under the impression that I could take the dog home the same day after surgery. I was told on the day of the surgery that they could not do the surgery the same day because they had too many emergency surgeries. I guess this happens, although it was disappointing since I took the day off. I also was unaware that the dog needed to spend the night there. I was told that the entire surgery would cost $7500 total. I was in shock by all that was happening, trying to not have our dog be in any more pain, and get over the sticker price of the surgery. It wasn't until my partner mentioned via text that his friend's wife was a vet tech and that this procedure could be done for a lot cheaper that I wished I had done more research. I started calling around and looking online. We ended up going to a place with high reviews and it ended up costing us a little less than $4000 total with all of the follow up appointments. They have great veterinarians, although I really dislike the lack of transparency around how much things cost as well as the inflated prices. read more

I have sadly made several trips to Sage over the years. A few times for emergency services and once for a regular, but urgent appointment when my own vet was booked. Each time the staff has been wonderful. They are caring and explain everything to you thoroughly. On top that, they give you detailed written explanations of what was done in their facility to treat your pet and what to do at home. This is so great because when you are in a panic about the health of your fur baby it is incredibly hard to take in everything they tell you and remember it all later. When we had to make the unfortunate decision to end a beloved dog's suffering after a few days of hospitalization, the staff was incredibly kind and comforting. They had a large room where the whole family could sit comfortably with our dog and say our goodbyes. We were not rushed at all. Their services are pricier than our regular vet, but our regular vet is understandably not available around the clock or at a moment's notice. Much like you don't go to your general practitioner when you need emergency care. For those times when you need immediate assistance or after hours care, Sage is a great choice. The money I have spent was worth the peace of mind, knowing my pets are receiving the care they need as soon as they need it. read more

In the past, I would say year and a half I have ended up here 3 times with my lab. Once because he got into a little snail bait, once for we have no idea what he got into, but SAGE was concerned he might be showing signs of Bloat and the most recent he found a container of Baking Coco and ate around 6 oz or so... Each and every time we were seen quickly and the staff have always been friendly. Each time they took great care of my dog Apollo. Part of me and my family have begun to think that Apollo finds things to get into so that he can come back and see his friends at SAGE. His second and third visits included overnight stays. I would highly recommend SAGE. My vet recommends SAGE over the closer Ohlone Emergence in Fremont. read more

Took my 15 year old pug here for an emergency visit. They diagnosed him with vestibular disease. For those who don't know, it's a scary little disease where the eyes dart back and forth and they lose all balance, so they're just falling and flopping and it sucks. So what I didn't know and what they didn't tell me is that this disease can happen out of nowhere to older dogs with no rhyme or reason. It's scary but they usually recover within a few weeks and and are totally normal after that. Did they tell me this? Did they bring this up as an option? Of course not. They wanted blood work, I thought that was reasonable so 700 buck later I did it. Results came back normal. Did they tell me that this is something that happens to older dogs and most likely he'll make a full recovery at this point? Of course not. Nope, the next step was to get him a $3000 MRI to look for tumors as it could be neurological. If there were any tumors they would of course have to be removed for an extra God knows how much. My dog is 15 years old mind you and this is what they recommended. I asked what other alternatives I had and they said "at home support." That's what I did. He slowly started to get better and after a few days I took him to see my vet at ABC clinic. Lo and behold he tells me that it happens to older dogs all the time and that he'll recover in a few weeks. I'm upset that Sage didn't tell me that. Im upset that they went straight to tumors after the blood work. I feel like they were trying to take my money. When you're dog is messed up and you're in panic mode this just isn't cool. When their go to is to do an MRI and look for tumors on a 15 year old dog, I don't know what to say to that. So I'm not one to usually post something like this but yesterday I truly felt my heart breaking. My best best friend princess hasn't been too well the past couple days and we were given bad news about her health at the last vet she was at and we were considering putting her down yesterday luckily we found this AMAZING vet. we haven't been able to take her home just yet but they have given us hope and are trying their best to hopefully make her feel better and be able to bring her home. Ive been a mess the last two days considering the fact that I was going to have to say goodbye. She's still Ill and we're not promised anything but I truly have hope we'll be able to bring her home. I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the nurses and doctors currently trying to help save her. The care and experience my family and I have experienced from you guys have been above and beyond and truly beautiful. We all left yesterday knowing she was in the best care she could be in and was treated like the princess she is. My beautiful girl even felt at home and safe with the little smile on her face. She has pancreatitis and had failure from her kidneys but as of now she is making progress. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS VET!! The staff are so honorable and caring of your pets... they showed the exact love my dog needed when he was in pain. That was my first visit. My second visit was when I had to bring in my deceased dog. He had passed for unknown reason, my family and I were grieving as we brought our puppy (nikko) in to them. They were so caring about how we were feeling. I appreciated that, they even gave me enough time to say good-bye.. A week later I received a sympathy card via mail from the staff that worked on my puppy, sending their regards. This made me cry my eyeballs out.
