Great little Indian spot right next to Downtown Johnston city, I was thrilled there was a buffet so I could try some of everything! Al the chicken dishes were succulent and though not super spicy, some nice hot sauces were available. A great deal especially with unlimited chai and mango lassai! Very good food and service! Parking lot and outside patio were very dimly lit and weren't very inviting but glad we continued inside. Very well kept and decorated dining room, bar and what looked like a private dining area. Music level and temperature were perfect with a decent amount of lighting. Had samosas, naan, raita and the mixed tandoori platter and all were very good. My water was kept full the entire dinner and our waiter was super attentive without being annoying. I think staff could be a touch more knowledgeable about some things on the menu as there was a little back and forth to the kitchen to make sure of things, but not huge deal. Bathrooms were less than perfect but not terrible. I will most definitely be back to eat here as I want to try more of the menu and hopefully give a better rating. read more

Service was terrible. When I first arrived I was waiting up front for a table for over 5 minutes before someone acknowledged me. Two employees walked right by me! I have eaten Indian food in two countries and have to say this ranks up there with some of the best I have eaten. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home. The level of customer service is some of the best in the area and hard to even get at the finest of restaurants in the tri-cities. I have only eaten here at lunch which is the buffet. I recommend the "Greek" type salad. Yes I wrote it right. Also the yogurt sauce with the fritters are good. I enjoy the spicy chicken in the wok type pan. Was really hopeful after reading all the reviews that this place was going to be awesome. Not so much. Went there on a Sunday afternoon was shuffled into this tiny space without being asked if we wanted the buffet or order off the menu. The place is def cramped and everyone sitting so close to one another. It's loud and not pleasing. The buffet which I guess everyone loves here is ridiculous. All the food was spilled all over hardly anything was refilled what was left to eat was dried out and cold and not much of a selection. I will never go back. The price for what you got was way too much. They could learn a few things from the Bombay House in SLC now those folks know Indian Cusine. Big disappointment. read more

While having lunch at Sahib one afternoon at the bar, I had the pleasure of being introduced to Chef Nath and immediately commended him on his great taste and talent in the culinary arts! His buffet had a huge variety including an aromatic goat curry, swordfish cooked with herbs and spices, my all time favorite chicken tikka masala, saag paneer and so much more. Chef Nath's dishes are so diversified with flavors that are non existent in other Indian restaurants and that's why I travel 35+ minutes to eat at Sahib. We are so incredibly lucky to have a Chef with his culinary talent in our area. Honestly, if you have never tried Indian Cuisine do yourself a favor and visit Sahib. Someone will gladly give you a tour of Chef Nath's articulate performance. It will be an experience you will never forget! I also wanted to mention the quality of service that you receive at Sahib as well. I have missed seeing the normal manager there. You could really tell that the life of the place had really lulled with him being away. Most recently I have seen him back after he had returned from his vacation. No doubt a much needed vacation as he is always there electrifying the place with his charisma. I'm an glad to see the entire energy change in a positive way now that he is back. He is truly the backbone of the restaurant, just ask anyone. If you aren't sure who I'm speaking of, just pay one visit to the place and you will know exactly what I am talking about. read more

I order takeout from here a couple of times a month. It's very convenient to call ahead and pick it up at the window on my way home from work. I have never had the lunch buffet, but I have really enjoyed everything I have ordered from the dinner menu. My favorite is the Coconut Mango Lamb. We decided to try Sahib's and it was a no go. We stood at the door for about ten minutes while employees walked by us without speaking. One guy said follow me after asking how many and then he just walked into the kitchen. We were finally seated and then left with no menus, drinks, anything. After looking around, I noticed no one had any food. So we left. I can't even tell you what they have to eat since we never saw a menu. read more

While visiting our niece in Johnson City, we asked her to take us to her favorite local restaurant and she chose Sahib. From the moment we walked in the restaurant, we were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Lunch is buffet style and I'm disappointed to have only managed a plate before I was completely full. Their Chili Chicken is not to be missed. I love good Indian food and Sahib is excellent Indian food which I would not have expected to find in Tennessee. For those not a fan of Indian food, there is an outstanding green salad on the buffet. Our young daughter opted not to eat as she's not a fan of Indian food and the owner made her feel very comfortable telling her that next time she should feel welcome to bring a burger but not to forget one for him. We will for sure making Sahib a destination whenever we next return to Johnson City. read more

food is totally amazing. only down fall was how rushed my friend and I felt to get out of there! we went in around 9:20pm (yes, they close at 10). the chairs were already up and they started mopping right around us right as we got our food. they then brought us our check while we were eating and told us not too rush, and then came back again and asked if we could go ahead and pay so they can count their registers.. :/ read more

Sahib is fantastic. The food is delicious and the owner makes a real effort to make everyone feel like their his favorite customer. They've even made custom dishes for me when I couldn't decide what I wanted. Since I discovered it, I eat there at least twice a month. My only complaint is that sometimes the tables are wobbly, which can be annoying. read more

Sahib is the only Indian place around here. In that respect, I can appreciate it. However, I've been going to this place for about nine years and I think it used to be better. I always just get the buffet and they used to provide fresh naan with it. They no longer do that and for me it impacts the quality. They recently relocated to West Market Street. I like the new location better, and I feel like it will be better for them because it allows them to draw on the university crowd a bit more. The food is alright, I'm sorry but I am spoiled from living in Manhattan and working near Murray Hill where there are dozens of top notch, inexpensive Indian places. It's not of that caliber but since it is the only game in town, I still come here periodically. One thing I noticed with the new location is the service is much improved, they really take care of you. I've never ordered from the menu so I can't speak to that. This is my favorite restaurant but we had an awful experience tonight. It's why I'm giving one star. We left without food. Vic is a great guy and the food is phenomenal when we've actually managed to eat there, but the problem lies with the wait staff. This was the third time we had the misfortune of being "served " by her. She's never been good but really outdid herself this visit. After being told that we could sit wherever and choosing the outdoor patio, we waited for 10 minutes before she finally decided to swing by and plop some menus down onto the table before quickly bolting back inside. After an additional 10 minutes of waiting we had yet to even be given water - let alone have our order taken. At this point my boyfriend decided to go inside and let them know that we were ready to order whenever. Upon walking in he was met by the waitress who told him "you're going to have to give us a few minutes, okay?" in a short, rude tone. Now to really get a picture of the situation; there were 2 tables inside and 4 outside (including us) - so they were hardly swamped. He walked back out assuming he'd pissed her off but at least we'd get served. We were wrong. Nearly 10 minutes later we still hadn't even gotten our water. At this point we left hungry and none too pleased. We drove 30 minutes specifically to eat at Sahib's (again, the food is great) only to be met with rude indifference. read more

I travel throughout the U.S. regularly for business and my favorite food on the road is Indian. I must tell you, this place is amazing! The service is top notch! The food was absolutely fantastic! I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala - the sauce was excellent and the color very unique. Chana Masala, excellent medium spicy. Prawns Tandoori - holy smokes! Large prawns that were perfectly cooked with a great tasting sauce. (I was sitting in the foyer when this same dish was delivered flaming on a platter for the dining patrons) Excellent presentation. Veggie Samosas were good, but all the sauces that came with it, plus the extra hot sauce were excellent. This place is no joke! Great food, great service and great management. Thank you! read more

Had lunch at Sahib, meal was great, I love Indian food and it compared well with any Indian restaurant I've been to all over the U.S. and the U.K. we would highly recommend it.
