The caliber of the food at this place rivals some of the best Indian restaurants I've had the opportunity to eat at in London where you'll find the best of the best. The lamb was tender and delicious. My mate and I also shared a Baigan Aaloo as well as a paneer tikka masala. Yummy! The only thing that needs improvement is that I do wish they were a bit more generous with the naan portions. They were too small for the amount of food received. First visit was fantastic! We were shopping in the area and I convinced my wife to stop here for lunch. I've tried to get her here before but she really dislikes curry and thought that's all Indian cuisine, boy was she surprised. We didn't know that the lunch meal is buffet so it was a great chance to try everything. We were amazed by the wide variety of spices, seasonings and fragrances. I have returned to Sahib's a few times and I am happy to say that whatever was going on before has been corrected. First, they are starting to care about special diets with vegan items. Previously they would say nothing was vegan even with the dishes that are typically vegan. The service has also greatly improved. Mistakes are low and I don't just get ignored when I am there. Finally, the food once again has flavor. I've even detected hints of spices that I never noticed before. I am happy to be going back. read more

The first time we went here it looks like a beat up restaurant that doesn't get good business. But when we walked in it was a look of fine dining. Very satisfied and impressed. We both got curry and tiki masala. Indian hot for the spice level. I got wine and tea and he got coke and a mule. The owner of the restaurant was friendly as we have been there only once before. We're always looking for good Indian food and when we visited Kingsport, we were so excited we found this place. Will definitely visit again when we're back in town. Wonderful and unique Indian food. Our family really enjoyed the buffet. I loved how they offer different chutneys and sauces at the buffet! All good was fresh and cooked really well. Several types of potatoes (one of my favorites) too! Daal was spiced well. It was made fresh, not last nights leftovers reconstituted into a buffet like some places--which isn't necessarily bad, just not 5 stars. Service was great. Pro tip: my son said not to eat too many donuts. They're really tasty, so that's hard to do, but he basically rolled out of the restaurant in a wheelbarrow. read more

This was so amazing! The lunch buffet 11-3 is only $14 a person and sooo worth it! I had a little bit of everything and a lot of some of the options, but nothing was disappointing! I love Indian food and have been to several restaurants (out of TN also) and this one was just as good if not better then most of the restaurants I've been to. The lamb dish had pieces of mango, and the coconut curry flavor was delicious and strong. The naan was soft and such a good complement. The drinks were also pretty good--and 2 for 1. We're driving through Johnson City and I texted my friend who lives in the area for dinner recommendations. At the top of her list she mentioned Sahib. She said that people drive from all over to try this place and I was sold. We came late at night and the place was pretty dead. After a quick look over the menu I decided on the Reshmi Kebab. While we waited for our food we got some crisps with three different dips. I'm not sure what each one was but the green one was pretty bland, the red one reminded me of sweet & sour sauce and the dark red was my favorite! It didn't take long for our food to come and I was shocked. I was a bit upset when I looked through the menu and saw that everything was $20+ but the portions are definitely worth it. I could have easily gotten 3 meals out of it. To make things better, they brought the plate of chicken & veggies on a flaming skillet = dinner and a show! We had our son and his fiancé visiting from California and since they love Indian food, we went to Sahib last night for dinner. Our son ordered 3 different entrees and a couple of appetizers for all of us since he is more familiar with this type of food. Well I must say that my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed everything immensely. but what impressed us the most is that our son and his fiancé raved about the food too. They said it was better than a couple of their favorite Indian restaurants they frequent in Cali. And then I must mention the service. At no time did we ever have to wait for anything. My husband and I have been to Sahib several times since moving to the Tri Cities and every time it's exceeded our expectations. The food is delicious with ample portions and the ambience is very relaxing. But the cherry on top is the fantastic service. Significantly lower quality than last time. So maybe it depends on who is cooking. But if they keep this up, I and most likely other customers will not return. My daughter and I ate lunch here today. I typically avoid buffets, but after taking a look at this one, we decided to try it. I'm so happy that I did! We tried almost every dish, and everything was incredibly delicious. Several vegetarian dishes, including Chana masala. The chicken dishes were equally amazing. We both loved every bite. Our servers were both friendly, helpful and attentive. Rocky was exceptionally attentive. The restaurant and buffet area were very clean, and multiple employees were keeping the buffet filled and our glasses full. . We will be back, and will likely bring family and friends that visit too. I've been here twice. I generally like Indian food, although this place is decent there has been a dark red hair on my food each time. I've figured it out, it was the host/servers- he has dark black/red henna dyed hair which was a match. Never mentioned it to them but will most likely not be returning. sad since I like Indian food.
