I got to go last night from here on the way home from work. I ordered ahead of time by calling in. Pick up was super quick. The place itself is tiny with about three tables for inside seating. This is more of a to go place. The food and flavors were on point. I got two combo pho and the popcorn chicken. Everything was delish. The broth was flavorful, chicken crispy, and portions were good. Just a heads up there is no restroom available so definitely more of a to-go spot but they do have limiting seating available if you decide to dine in. Saiga Vietnamese Eatery in Irvine is located in a commercial office building area and there wasn't much foot traffic. I definitely wouldn't have found it without Yelp. When I looked on their website I saw a 20% off ad, but when I did the online check out I didn't see the promo so I went to order in person. The experience was as unpersonal with their 2 self serve tablets for you to order from. I waited to ask staff about the promo and they said that's only for the Orange location that is newly opening. Sigh... no discount AND now I have to waittttt longer for my food. All food whether you enjoy it here or togo are served in togo boxes. I ordered a Garlic Noodles with Pork Belly ($15.95), a Grilled Pork Vermicelli with Egg Roll ($14.95), a Lychee Green Tea ($5.45), and a Bread Pudding ($4.95). While I was waiting I went to sit down at one of their tables and it was full of crumbs from probably a banh mi. It was ironic cause their unhelpful staff was sweeping but it would make sense to clear your tables before you sweep or it would be counterproductive. When my food was ready, they call you, but you'll need to grab your own utensils. Wow useless. Why did I tip on the kiosk? There was no service. They stapled the receipt to the PLASTIC bag and the staple scratched me. Stapling to paper bags make sense but plastic bags aren't sturdy to use a bag. The garlic noodles were a decent amount of garlic. The pork belly was crispy is eaten fresh but not great as a leftover. The grilled pork on the vermicelli was described as a lemongrass pork but I could not taste the lemongrass. Worst off it was really dry even being eaten fresh. I enjoyed the healthy vegetables with the vermicelli but I wouldn't get this protein again. The lychee green tea was the only thing that wasn't disappointing. The bread pudding came with a coffee flavored cream, and even dumping the whole thing in, DRYYYYYY. Wow the saddest dryest pudding ever that makes Golden Corral look like a dream. I didn't care to waste my carbs and sugar on this poor excuse for a dessert. So depressing. I wanted to like it so badly. My office is within a close driving distance and it would have been sooooo convenient for me even if the food was halfway to decent. Driving up to the restaurant is confusing because it is tucked away inside a huge business complex, but the food was excellent. The challenge is that there isn't a bathroom for customers, which is why I lowered the points from 5 to a 4 score. Also, I had a challenge with entering my phone number on the computer screen, and I was not able to get help because there wasn't anyone available by the counter. Someone finally came out to call my name for the food order, which was nice but too late to help me with the points. The interaction with the person at the counter was cold and she seemed unhappy to serve me. I would definitely come back to this restaurant when I am hungry for a great sandwich and a noodle bowl. I would try to come around the busy hours of morning and late afternoon traffic because the 55fwy is normally packed unless you can access Red Hill easily to go where you need to drive to when you are coming or leaving the restaurant. The music is trendy and the atmosphere is small, so this place would not work for a large party. It seems like there may be catering available at a later date, but not as of right now. The sandwiches would be great for a large party to order out. It seems like the online ordering works smoothly as people were walking in and out frequently while I was sitting g inside eating my delicious food. This place also seems to specialize in Togo orders with some 2 seater tables if you want to eat it there. However, it seems that most do to go. The place is well kept and is located in a business center near John Wayne Airport. The food was pretty tasty, and it had the right amount of food. I got the garlic noodles which were pretty comparable for the price and they had multiple protein options.
