Getting to Saiga was a little confusing, it's inside a store called Smart Kitchens located in an area closely packed with many small businesses, look for it nestled in a little cul-de-sac/roundabout. Locating it aside, Saiga a new favorite of mine! I fell in love with the belly bowl. Not only is it adorable, but the pork belly has a perfect crunch to it. The pickled vegetables are crisp, fresh, and not at all soggy or flimsy. The green sauce isn't spicy; it's flavorful and on the sweet side, making a great bite when kept on the side to Combined with the very subtle aromatic flavor of the jasmine rice, this marries into a delicious dish that I have been reminiscing about for DAYS. I ate the whole thing at once, it felt bright and fresh, and I felt full but good afterwards. I also very much enjoyed their grilled pork banh mi, and their pork belly banh mi as well. This is why I give the place 5/5 despite the difficulty getting there, eating this food leaves me not feeling guilty, and makes my mouth happy. **EDIT** If I could give Saiga more stars, I would! I am quite the Vietnamese food fan (I am Spanish and Mexican) since I was raised in the culture due to my best friend being Vietnamese growing up. Came here tonight for new eats, did not regret it! Their service was quick and easy. I especially liked the easy to use kiosk system to order. I got the grilled pork banh mi and pork belly salad. Both were delicious. The pork belly was crunchy, with the perfect ratio of meat and fat, but not too oily. The salad really compliments it by cutting the fatty taste. Their dressings weren't too overpowering. As for the grilled pork banh mi, I loved the pickled carrots paired with the meat. The pork was not at all dry, a definite plus! I also got their seasonal drink: peppermint vietnamese coffee. A fun twist on a classic! The peppermint bark wasn't too sweet, but just enough to cut the bitter of the coffee. Ok, their pork belly is insane. I have to preface this with the embarrassing admission that I don't really like pork belly, in general. But, Saiga's? Fantastic--cooked to perfection. Incredibly crisp on top (but rendered perfectly so you're not biting through a thick rind of hardened fat), tender and juicy on the inside, and sliced just right. That plus their green aioli and fresh vegetables make their rice bowl a lunch of sublime pleasure. Make your coworkers jealous AF and get over there. I got a chance to try out Saiga Eatery the other month and it's a hidden gem in the Irvine parkway. I tried the garlic noodles, pork banh mi, lychee lemonade and Vietnamese coffee. All were so delicious. The garlic noodles were Al dente and the protein was so buttery. The banh mi had a good proportion of additions and the bread was very crunchy. As for the drinks, they were all very refreshing and light. There were lychee bits in the lemonade as well! Overall I'd highly recommend Saiga. I like that they have catering as well. read more
