I had the Banana Claus recently, which is their holiday special. It is a banana cold foam on top of their Famous Saigon Coffee. The foam is topped with a slightly salty and nutty crumble. I usually don't like nuts, but because it was blitzed this was okay for me. I thought the touch of salt was a good pairing especially with the Vietnamese coffee. It was good! A slight banana taste, but it didn't remind me of freshly ripe bananas. It had a slight... artificial taste to it. Not in a bad laffy taffy way, but it just was different. I've had my fair share of bad banana lattes, and this one doesn't come close to being at that level. It's drinkable, just unique in their banana flavoring aspect. I think I'll stick to my usual orders next time! They had paper straws, striped in red and white-- just like a candy cane. It's fun for the holidays, but I don't think they should switch completely/forever to this. Since the straw is made out of paper it gets soggy fast and it's a little weaker to use to mix the coffee too. The workers were absolutely the sweetest & worked well together. They definitely had a system going since it took less than 3 min before I had my cup and there were several groups in front of me that ordered too. They close around 3pm, but even at 2:45pm there was a constant flow of people entering and ordering. In addition, they have merch that you can purchase. From coffee beans, to tote bags (with zippers), to phin filters (if you want to make your own Vietnamese drip filtered coffee), and even tumblers for your drinks. They are high quality and have great color options. I have a white one that's slim so it can fit in the car cup holder or even a backpack. The lid has a great suction when you close it and it has two options-- hot lid, pull back. And iced-- add straw to it. It keeps my iced coffee nice and cold for hours even when I'm out n about. If you're in the area of North Park, come try their Vietnamese Coffee! It's strong with a slight sweetness (condensed milk). If you want to be adventurous, I'd recommend the Hanoi Egg Coffee as it tastes reminiscent of flan in a way. The Coconut Coffee is a great order on a hot day! I also did enjoy their Caramel option before as well. They do have an option with no milk/condensed milk -- it's very strong and might keep you up for a while. As you can tell, they have many options , even for non coffee drinkers (matcha/tea)... stop by and see how you like it! read more

Visited this place as my girlfriends all wanted to hit their coffee craving. I'm not much of a coffee drinker so I got the matcha instead. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. There was quite a long line to get a drink but it does move pretty fast. We got our drinks in less than 15 mins. My matcha drink was great, just a tad sweeter than I usually like but still good. No sugar adjustments here. Inside has limited seating so we took our drinks outside to walk around and browse the walking distance shops. Overall I would come back if I'm in the area. read more

Tried their seasonal Banana Claus and it was delicious! Fresh banana flavor and didn't taste artificial at all. The base is the standard Vietnamese coffee. They put some praline on top that had some toasted nuts that added a nice textural contrast. I first encounter them at Poway and Hillcrest Farmers market before they had this storefront. One of the first successful coffee shop that specializes in Vietnamese coffee. The advantage of the storefront is the variety of flavors and options. The egg coffee is always a must or the coconut coffee. This time I opted for their seasonal flavor of pumpkin spice called The Charlie Brown. Their coffee flavor is bold, bitter with thickness of condense milk with a hint of hazelnut. This spot a has a limited menu of specialty coffee, teas, and matcha that really shine. The egg coffee is sweet and creamy and strong, and their main offering the regular Saigon coffee is an amazing morning treat that will wake you up. Woo hoo! Finally got around to driving to North Park and checking out the brick and mortar Saigon coffee location. I had sampled it at the Hillcrest farmers market and this morning. My son reminded me that we hadn't gone to try it out yet so off we went. It took us 20 minutes to get here from Point Loma but it's well worth it and we arrived at 9:15 AM and we had a window of only three people in front of us in line. Since it was my first time the kind Person taking my order offered my son and I many samples and I just tried the egg coffee, which was really good, but I decided since it was my first time I should just have their regular Saigon coffee before I started making it fancy. My son ordered the supercharged Version banana Special which I definitely would never order because who knows when I would ever go back to sleep. The little shop is extremely clean and decorated for the lunar new year and I enjoyed seeing the process of mass producing their mom and pop version of Vietnamese coffee in a massproduction way that kept it still not mass produced. There was a young man in the window, continually pouring hot water over ground coffee in large, but not massive containers. I felt like I was getting as close to possible as the real version that this family strives to share with all of us. I applaud you for keeping your process quality and not mass producing it and watering it down for more money and more people. I'm glad to see that there's a nonstop demand for this high-quality product and this small business is providing excellent product. I took one sip of my iced Saigon coffee and was immediately transported to a very happy place. My son got their banana foam topped four espresso shot coffee, and he was equally ecstatic. I brought my own insulated cup, which is what I always do when I go out to buy coffee and they happily filled it for me. This is a requisite for me that they will not require me to use a disposable cup. Be prepared to pay for street parking at 2:50 an hour and enjoy this treat. I was in the area for a Yelp event and walked passed this amazing coffee shop. It's a small establishment but it was packed with people. I was glancing at the menu when one of their regulars started talking to me about how this business got started and how he doesn't go to any other coffee shop but here. SO, you know I had to try it! I had the Famous Saigon Coffee and it was so good! . 10 out of a 10! There's room to sit & enjoy your coffee or take it to go. Came here on a Sunday afternoon. There was a line out the door but it moved fairly quickly. There is only street parking so you most likely will have to walk a block or two away. We ordered the iced matcha and famous Saigon coffee. Both were super flavorful and delicious. The Saigon coffee was strong but in a good way. The condensed milk in the matcha was perfect, though definitely take a lactose pill if you need it. Service was friendly, quick and efficient. There is ample seating inside and along the sidewalk. Friends brought me here on a Saturday morning around 10:30am and the line was out the door and along the sidewalk. Despite the intimidating line, it moved relatively fast and we got our drinks before 11am. I got the famous saigon coffee and I have to say, it's pretty close to the coffee I've had in Vietnam. It's not overly sweet and the coffee itself is strong, great taste. Interior is not necessarily small, there are multiple tables scattered throughout, but does feel a tiny bit cramped.
