We loved dining at Saigon Dish. We made a reservation, which probably was not necessary at our time. We were seated at a table for two, but they had no problem letting us change to a bigger table in a quieter part of the restaurant. We both ordered the pork vermicelli, egg roll salad dish. But I prefer white meat chicken. They do not provide "grilled" white meat chicken with this dish, but they offered me the white meat from the chicken soup that they make. Probably not as flavorful, but this is what I really enjoy. My husband enjoyed his pork dish as well. We thought the servings were huge. And each was able to take leftovers home. We purchased some rice noodles from the great Vietnam store immediately north of the restaurant around the buildings. And then prepared the rice noodles together with our leftover sauce for two more days for dinner. Very delicious. And there are so many servers there. Everyone is very attentive and very busy. The restaurant has a lot of clientele and it is very popular. We can see why. read more

There are many sizes to choose from to match your appetite, but I find that the regular size is just fine for me. The soup broth is so warm and comforting that is the perfect meal for a cold or cloudy day. The service here is quick and efficient. On some days the owner is in there to oversee things and work hands-on with the staff. It's not the nicest ambience inside but it's perfectly fine for a casual meal. I was craving a bowl of warm, cozy soup after a long day of studying and I can officially say this is one of the best comfort foods out there. This is my second time back because I obviously had to explore the menu more. I tried some of their special combo pho (#7) again since my friend got it and how could you possibly go wrong with it. It's your traditional bowl topped with all the good stuff and for a really affordable price! You'll definitely leave full and happy. If not, then I say size up to XL because you deserve it. This time, I wanted to ~expand my horizons~ so I ordered the spicy beef noodle (#22) which came with thicker noodles and a whole bunch of meat on top. I honestly didn't know what kind of meat I was eating half the time but I can tell you that it was good. It was also the first time I had ham hock so that was a pleasant surprise! There's a first for everything. If you are curious, the toppings were slices of rare steak, brisket, beef shank, pork meatballs, Vietnamese ham, tendon, and ham hock. You can see why I didn't really know what I was digging my chopsticks into. As for the spice level, it was not spicy at all. BUT that doesn't matter because the broth was so flavorful and it's what makes the dish in my opinion. Very quick customer service and it's always packed so you know that's a good sign. Their food is good, but the service is even better. Food always comes out quick. John is warm, and the whole staff is responsive and not forgetful. We needed an extra pair of chopsticks after dropping one, and said it to a server hustling by. I didn't think he heard me, but he dropped off a pair on his way back. One of the spoons was dirty, so I asked John for another one. He took the dirty spoon, finished helping the other table, brought out food to another table, and came back with a clean spoon. My favorite from the dish was the shrimp cake. I typically have bahn mi at a bahn mi shop, but never at a restaurant. The sandwich was okay. Came here for a casual weeknight dinner and were seated immediately. We didn't have a reservation, and both indoor and outdoor dining were available when we came. The outdoor dining is no-frills, with tables and chairs just set up under a tent-like covering in part of the carpark. The service was friendly and efficient, and we never had to wait long for anything we needed, including food. My husband and I got the spring rolls to share, and both got vermicelli for main dishes. The food was served very fast after we ordered. Servings were on the larger side. The food was simple but very good, though we didn't finish our food because of the size. The food was pretty good here but I'm not sure if I'd come back because there seem to be a few other Vietnamese restaurants in the area that also look very good. Saigon Dish is one of those rare restaurants that meets the trifecta: good, fast and cheap! This place is our favorite Vietnamese restaurant. The food comes out incredibly fast so it's good if you are starving already when you sit down. We typically get their Bun with egg rolls and grilled pork (vermicelli noodle salad bowl) and banh xeo (savory Vietnamese pancake). Note - banh xeo is only available on Fri & Sat. We've also gotten their pho and spring rolls and those are tasty too. They get quite busy and the indoor seating is much more cramped than I like. I don't usually give one star but after my meal tonight, it will be the last time I'm dining in and ordering from here. I ordered takeout before twice, but my boyfriend and I had plans so we decided to eat in. It's been a minute since I had pho and the weather calls for it. On the way over, I added my name to the Yelp waitlist because it says 4-14 minute wait and I live 8 minutes away. Turns out street traffic was busy so we got there at 10-12 minutes instead of 8. When I came to check in with the host, turns out I was kicked off the waitlist, but he was very nice and helped us get seated as the next party. After we got seated, this is when I noticed something odd going on with the service. There were 2 couples that got seated after us and not only did they both get menus and utensils, but they also got their orders in FIRST. No one came to help our table. No one brought menus. The very kind host (Vietnamese man) was the only person that gave us menus AND took our order in the middle of helping other customers get seated. I know for sure the servers don't want to help us because this blonde-haired Asian female server made eye contact with me knowing I'm waiting to be helped but decided to help the couple that got seated after us. She even walked by us without checking in. Another thing: I ordered pho while my boyfriend ordered banh xeo. Tell me why the 3 tables that got seated after us got their pho first and I'm still waiting. I know they have a boiling pot in the back with meats ready to go and my pho was super simple. Again, NO ONE came to help us or check in. My boyfriend's banh xeo came out before mine and that's usually the one that take longer at a pho spot because it was a special item no one usually orders. Such petty service. What was the issue? Was it because the host decided to seat us ASAP? We WERE on the waitlist and your job is to serve, right? If he wanted us to wait because we were kicked off then we would've. Thank YOU to the kind and hospitable Vietnamese man that sat us because I was about to leave. All I wanted was a nice meal since I was missing my Vietnamese family, but the service really did it for me. Petty and cutthroat. Don't bother. If they treat their own people like this, forget it. The salad had a ton of herbs and veggies which is awesome compare to MN, there's more noodles and less herbs and veggies. My boyfriend and I have been trying pho in different places since we live not far from the freeway being able to go 20 minutes north for DTLA or south. For us it's preferable to head down the fwy since parking is much easier and food is great with great pricing. Saigon Dish is a place we've ordered takeout from and sat in house. The pho has been delicious. It's why we've kept coming back. Tonight we reserved and headed out. We were quickly greeted by staff and seated to the next available. My boyfriend ordered combo pho with a side of chicken and I decided to try something different. I was able to get the weekend special of the Vietnamese crepe. Never had it before but I enjoy things like spring rolls and lettuce wraps. It was really good. At first I thought I'd just have one from looking and it and ate the second. We also had a guest with us who ordered #35. She enjoyed trying everything on the plate saying nothing was her favorite, it was all good. We left full and satisfied. The portions of meat were generous- I didn't even see the veggies at first. I would have preferred a few more veggies for freshness, as well as a more toasted bun. Make sure to pour the fish sauce on the noodle! Overall, quality, quantity & how affordable it is makes the overall experience a 5 star.
