So went to Saint Cupcake today, as I was observing I watched one of the workers touch her face, her hair and rubbed her nose and then placed cupcakes into the display shelf. Which I found was gross. I would feel more comfortable if the workers had their hair tried back and wore gloves or even just went to wash their hands. Another thing I found gross was they would ring you up using the touch screen iPad and then would proceed putting cupcakes on the display shelf. Layout of the place is kinda weird because when you walk in you immediate want to go left and you miss out all the cupcakes on the right. After making our way from the International Rose Test Garden, we spotted this cupcake joint. Being that I'm a recent fan of cupcakes, we had to try this place out. The menu is simple, Dots which are bite-sized cupcakes are $1.50 each and Full cupcakes, your standard-size, are $3.25 each. All the cupcakes are nicely presented by a glass countertop so you can pick and choose to your delight. While you peruse, you can also see the bakers in action as it is an open layout where the kitchen is viewable by the public. We ordered 4 Dots: - Red Velvet - the cake mixture was thicker in consistency than the slight airiness that I'm accustomed to in a red velvet, however it had a very light cream cheese on top complimented with crunchy red sprinkles. Decent, though nothing to warrant you to eat another one. - Pumpkin Spice - the consistency is similar to a bread-like cake that is moist with a creamy top. It had a subtle yet just noticeable amount of pumpkin spice flavor. I didn't care much for this cupcake, maybe because pumpkin never really seemed to intrigue me. - Chocolate with Vanilla Buttercream - this was the downright favorite. The cake is moist and almost fudgy near the top probably caused by the awesome buttercream topping. It's a must try and I would have easily enjoyed a full-size cupcake, or maybe even two. - Hot Fudge with Chocolate Cake - dense cake with a fudgy bittersweet top complimented with red dots. I swear, this cupcake tasted like a devil dog but without the white cream in the center. It was good though almost peculiar. Maybe because I kept thinking there was going to be a white creamy inside. For a cupcake joint, it has some impressive cupcakes while others left nothing to be desired. When going against the top contenders, I'd have to say that Sprinkles is my current favorite, but Saint Cupcake definitely has something going for them. They even have vegan options if that's your thing. My faves: Toasted Coconut, Fat Elvis, and Lemon Berry. Mini's are only $1.50 I suggest trying a few :) Cookies....bars....they have those as well. First trip, I had a vegan red velvet cupcake. 'Twas very very tasty so I decided to bestow Saint Cupcake with the honor of making my birthday cake. I ordered a vegan "butter" cake and chocolate icing. It was beautiful and it tasted good too. The only complaint I have is that it was too much icing. And this is particularly problematic because vegan icings tend to be oil based and I noticed that the cake seemed to have an oily layer within. It didn't really impact the taste but the texture was a little off. The thought of eating oil-soaked cake made me sad so I didn't eat much of it. Based on my first experience, though, I would give Saint Cupcake another chance. Maybe just ask for light icing on any orders with vegan icing. There always street parking nearby but I believe this location is accessible by max and bus if you're not into driving. The Saint Cupcake staff is awesome, by the way. I had to reschedule my cake pick up at the last minute because of the flu. They were really understanding and didn't charge us a rescheduling fee. Very cool. read more

The best cupcakes in the world, period. The cake is the perfect density and not too sweet, their buttercream is light and beyond delicious, and the cupcakes always look beautiful! I even love their cream cheese icing, and I normally hate cream cheese icing! I've never had a cupcake I didn't like from Saint Cupcake, though my favorites are the Big Top and vanilla with chocolate buttercream. I frequently take guests from out of town to St. Cupcake and they're always impressed! I was initially going to give Saint Cupcake 5 stars, because I've been in love with this place since the day I walked in about three years ago. Went here last week to buy some delicious cuppy cakes for my dad's birthday, and they did not disappoint me one bit! The young lady who was helping me out was very nice and friendly and made my experience most pleasant! Came here yesterday in the soaking rain and did the most sinful thing imaginable in such a heavenly place. I brought a red velvet (velvet painting) from Cupcake Jones into this establishment. After arguing with my sister over which company made the better red velvet, I was depressed and bewildered to find out that she was indeed correct. Cupcake Jones is more expensive (3.25/jumbo) but it is a little bit bigger, more moist, comes with a vanilla bean filling, has a sweeter frosting, and has a crispy top to its cupcake. The interesting thing is that Saint Cupcake makes the MOST AMAZING chocolate chip cupcakes (big top) I have ever tasted. Their buttercream frosting is worth giving up your children for! They are always ready to be picked up on time with good presentation. They do have some stands for rent....but it's an expensive add on and they stands leave a lot to be desired. As a nice gift, a friend of mine sent me the 3 cupcake delivery from Saint Cupcakes. He told me it was a kind of do it yourself cupcake because they keep the toppings, frosting, and cupcake separate for the ride. But, it was a bit toooo soft because it was kind of hard to spread the icing on without taking off some of the cupcake off when you spread it. I didn't end up using all the icing for each cupcake because it is a tad too sweet for my tastes. Long overdue review! Saint Cupcake & Poplandia catered the dessert and supplied the favors for my & my husband's wedding last summer and did an amazing job! Our wedding and reception was in a movie theater and we wanted popcorn involved.
