Came here for Happy Hour with friends on a weeknight. We actually came to see my favorite band Crash Kings, but they had to cancel, but decided to come for Happy Hour anyways because couldn't turn down $3 draft beer. All the appetizers were half off. Service 5: Our waitress was very sweet and service was great. She was attentive. We were a group of 9. Atmosphere 4: This place is a very laid back place. Mixed crowd. No pretentiousness. Food 3: I was really hungry because I hadn't eaten in 24 hours so I ended up ordering a ton of food! I had the spicy tuna roll (wasn't very good, i don't know what i was thinking ordering sushi at place like this), calamari (it was ok), and the mushroom sliders (it was good) with side of sweet potato fries (it's stringy, would've preferred just regular style fries). My friend had the chicken tacos and she said it was way too spicy. My husband had the carne asade tacos and he said the same and he eats SPICY foods. Said the spicyness (sp) overpowered everything. read more

Happy Hour is a good deal - $5 for everything (food and drinks) except Build-Your-Own-Burger. 5-7:30. Too bad that the food and the service is all mediocre. The best thing on the menu is the marina goat cheese dip. The calamari is bad as well as the Kobe sliders. It seems that for as crowded as it gets for Happy Hour, they never have enough people working. This last time it took me 45 minutes to get a drink because they ran out of martini glasses. The table behind me had 3 rounds of beer in that time. I'm not pretentious, serve me my drink in anything that holds liquid. Or at least tell me it's going to be a while as opposed to me hunting down a server or bartender. Sainte Rocke does bring some interesting and good bands in. Sometimes you can buy tickets online or you can just pay at the door if it's not sold out. The TVs show the band, so if you're in a weird corner so you still watch. read more

I've gotta say that I'm probably rating this place a bit higher than it should be, but only because I go to St Rocke for Happy Hour, which has consistently been a good time with good food / drink quality & prices. I've been to the Rocke at other times, and frankly I probably don't think that I would come back, mainly because of the cover charge and the higher than normal prices for drinks. But the food has always been good, the build-your-own burger menu allows for some rather creative options, and the other fare is quite good vs. normal bar food. Again, I'd advise going during happy hour to snag the lower prices. They have a decent selection of beer (any place that has Hoegaarden on draught is a thumbs up in my book), and the cocktails are poured with a heavy hand. Have been here a few times for live music, and that's always delivered pretty well. Additionally, I like the couch areas which offer a nice difference than sitting at or near the bar. read more

An awesome venue for LIVE MUSIC!!!! I came here for a few concerts and the sound system is legit! Professional sound equipment and a lighting rig to make musicians jealous! A very intimate stage where true musicians can connect with their fans before they go Hollywood! Chill environment with some decent food and alcohol. There is a certain cool vibe about this bar. Its a lounge, a bar, a club, a restaurant, a live music bar, all rolled into this unassuming place in hermosa. I was very impressed with the set up, with a decent sized dance area, or standing room for live music shows. The bar is in L shape, and long. Several bartenders run around, and the wait to get drinks never were very long. The drinks are well priced, $3-$5 drafts. Clean bathrooms, nice too. Clean floors (for the most part of the night anyway). Floors not smelling like pee and barf is a huge deal to me. This place didn't disappoint. I was there for Johnny Cash cover band, "Cashed out". Doors opened at 8:30 but they didnt perform till 10:30. The floor filled up fast. Attendance was full, and you know what crowd surrounds you when u see people drinking pabst blue ribbon in cans. Not my kind of drink, unfortunately, though I'm sure it was cheap. The band rocked for 3 hours straight. Crazy. They were so in character it was kinda creepy after a while. the lead "johnny cash" even had johnny cash pic tattooed on his arm. Hmm... yea. too much in character for me. This place is cracking! For happy hours, it's $5 for anything and everything on the menu. From mixed alcohol to straight shots to 16oz cup of beer to all the food on the menu, $5! Best believe i got stuffed and wasted. It was my first time in Hermosa Beach, my friend that lives here recommended that we hit this place up during happy hour so we did. Came here with a group of people and we all just relaxed and got wasted while the live band played in the background. The food selection was pretty decent, but i wouldn't say the best. The ambiance i got from this place was great right when i walked through the door. All i can say about this place is that it has the BEST happy hour specials and live music. Can you believe everything on their menu are 5 bucks! Can't beat it! This music venue is fabulous! Ordered wonderful chicken sliders with fries and flatbread pizza to die for. Cocktails were made to order and service was five star. Great date place. Hip and romantic venue that was an old bank in 1922. Dinner, cocktails and great bands. A must stop if you are a music lover. You will not be disappointed. read more

Saint Rock attempted to get rid of my review, you know because yelp is a website where you're only aloud to leave good reviews of a business, but I'll try again anyway. Last week I attempted to see a show here and the staff targeted my date and ruined the evening before I even got to see the band play. We arrived and he started a tab at the bar, but as the show started, we moved closer to the stage and I started a tab with the waitress so we could conveniently get a drink where ever we were standing. After sitting around for awhile in what they call "the peanut gallery", the bully security guard came over to us, eye balled my date for awhile and then told him he would have to go over to the main bar cause they were looking for his card. They then told him they confused him and gave him a free shot. Later, after we returned back to the same area we had been sitting at for over an hour, I went to the restroom and returned to find my date missing. Other girls close by said "hey they just grabbed your boyfriend and threw him out and he was just sitting there". So I made my way to the front and was met by the crowd of goons they call the security team. All grunting and laughing at how easily they had thrown him out. I spoke with the "head of security" and he said that another women had told them we took their reserved seat. A seat that was not clearly marked with a sign and a seat which no one had alerted us that it was not public. The head of security could have easily told him the seat was taken, just as they had to all the other patrons an hour ago before the band started playing, but instead he kicked him out. Later, when the manager became involved, he accused my date of stealing and said they didn't want a problem like him in the bar. My date is the head of a major record label and has never aloud me to pay for anything in the year we have dated. He also happens to be a black man and was the only one there that night. They ruined our evening, which he had planned for months. I have never experienced such horrific customer service. We are patrons, not staff. We don't know the rules of their seating arrangements and it is the staffs job to notify use. We would've happily obliged, if they would have simply said something rather than forcibly removing my friend. They refused to refund my date the three tickets he bought for my friend and I, despite bouncing him out before the show started. The staff was insulting and belligerent and then dismissed me and threatened to call the cops on me while I was standing on the sidewalk waiting to get phone service and find the person I went there with. I am appalled with saint rock and I would never recommend anyone go there. The South Bay has tons of better bars to choose from. And I hope they never treat anyone else with such callas disrespect. read more

I am personally so happy to have a venue in the South Bay where I can be comfortable, listen to good music, have dinner and drinks with friends and be 10 minutes from home. I love the decor inside, it is warm and relaxing and they certainly did a nice job completely transforming the location. I have seen some very talented performers, a little dueling piano and have attended a few outrageous parties. NOFX was so much fun and it was great to go this past month for some very powerful female performers. I look forward to many more lovely shows here. For all that are whining and saying the owner bribed people... First of all, he asked people to be honest! I am not turning my review in to get anything, I just thought oh yah, I have not reviewed yet. If you are such a hater you do not need to be even reading the analog anyway. This is not asking what you think of the owner or his blog, it is for you to review the establishment. Great place for live music! This was my 2nd time at this club and I love it! Nice staff but need a new bartender who is not hard of hearing (?) Messing up and bringing us Malibu Rum shots instead of Tequila shots like we asked for????? Oh, well. No worries we still will be back to see more shows here. I have seen many concerts now at Saint Rocke. This place is solid, consistent, and is a great atmosphere for an intimate performance. The food is a little more imaginative than other clubs but typically overpriced. The wait staff is good enough. But the real prize is the sound inside is always excellent! They seem to get the best and most diverse performer in the South Bay. Also, it could be the shows that I see but the crowds tend to be easy...only ever seen one fight come close to breaking out and it was de-escalated quickly. read more

I have been to Saint Rocke only twice now, but I can honestly say that it is a great spot for a good time. My last visit (Mother's Day) was such a blast, Abbey Road was a fantastic representation of the Beatles. My mom had a spectacular time, twisting, shouting, eating and drinking. The next day I noticed what appeared to be an overage charge on my online banking site from Saint Rocke. I threw a little fit and contacted Allen Sanford (owner) to complain. Katie Henley an employee at Saint Rocke responded right away and explained to me the reasoning. The charge was pending, and banks tend to hold funds in anticipation for what you may tip your server/bar tender. I felt like a complete jerk for my hissy fit. Mr. Sanford also reached out to me. Both Mr. Sanford and Katie were completely professional and kind, not to mention patient. There's nothing quite like outstanding customer service. Scarlett was our server and she was on her a-game. Very attentive and sweet. The girl at the door (didn't get her name) was also very friendly and walked us in to show us what tables were free. We ended up with a sweet spot per her recommendation. Yup, parking sucks, the place can get crowded, and it can be hard to get a drink sometimes.....WELCOME TO THE SOUTH BAY! If you are lucky enough to live close, take an Uber and wait a bit for your drink, big deal.....it is all worth it. I have been coming here since 2009 and I am constantly checking their calendar to see what kind of acts they have lined up and even after 9 years of coming here, they STILL continue to find acts that blow me away! Cool venue. Sound is great! I saw Passafire and B-side Players in June. Non pretentious staff. Respectable female staff/bartenders and ticket prices are perfect for this horrific economy. I don't trip on the price of drinks because I party in Vegas and LA where drinks are $12 each. Venue is small but that's why the sound is good. February 2011 SR changed their food menu, and IT STINKS!! I used to love to go there for the entertainment, drinks and food, now we just go there for the drinks and entertainment, MINUS THE FOOD...who's idea was that anyway?!?!?!? They took calamari off the menu, reduced the sliders down from 4 to 3 and added some untasty, quite awful dishes which I can't and don't want to remember ordering. I AM SO BUMMED. It was the ultimate spot for me and my friends, and I was a regular there, sadly, I am now an (un)regular patron at Saint Rocke for their happy hour. Help make me a Saint Rocke crack head again...I need good food, along with their excellent drinks and always great (looking) service, and awesome entertainment! read more

Love that they're taking a chance with Country and Americana. It was a terrific (and surprising) venue to see the Grascals at. It couldn't have been a nicer venue to see a fantastic, intimate, acoustic act at. Keep giving me some touring 'grass or americana acts to see once a month (or more) and I'll tell my friends and keep coming! We really enjoyed it and loved the $5 happy hour menu as we got there early - another welcome surprise! Really? A glass of fantastic cabernet and a terrific chipoltle chicken sandwich for $5? Went there for Geeks Who Drink Trivia, and was not disappointed, except for in our standing...as we finished 4th (DAMN!) Monday nights are a great night to go. Full bar, good beer menu and a surprising kitchen. I thought this was going to be a scuzzy club that played crappy bands. Apparently, I was WAY OFF! The food is great. The Margherita flat bread is a must try, as is the Double Decker Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich. Interesting take on sliders, pairing them with King Hawaiian rolls...it works. I love this place for happy hour. Menu items can be pricey outside of happy hour, but great prices for good food and drinks during happy hour. I also love that their happy hour goes later than most other places in the area. They also often have live music during happy hour, which is great. Service can be a little slow, but I'll give it 5 stars anyway because it's usually not too bad and I still love the place. I've seen a couple bands here in the evening, but I can't speak to the concert venue aspect as much because I usually use this place as a happy hour destination. read more

Was here on Monday, March 24th to see a friend play. Sound system was incredible (and LOUD! but I like it that way!), cover was cheap ($5), service was excellent, atmosphere is nice and the musicians were off the chain. A great time was had by all! My only complaint is that I feel it's a little overpriced - good food and drink but not enough for what you're paying. When it costs me $8 for a glass of wine, I expect a good pour. Diva did not get a good pour! Tried the lobster mac & cheese - very tasty but not $13 worth of tasty. The chips and guac were just okay (chips=awesome, guac=meh, but to be fair, I prefer a little kick to my guac, so your mileage may vary...my friend LOVED it). Oh, also the kitchen closes at 10, which is kinda crazy to me. But with those exceptions, it's a great place and I had a great time, I'd certainly go again and would compliment it to anyone who mentioned they were going. If you don't have to be really strict with your budget, you will love this place. :-) read more

Finally writing my review of the Gin Blossom's show at Saint Rocke. Awesome experience from start to finish. Great show, great vibe, great crowd and thanks to a generous (and not terribly hungry) fellow patron, I can also say the sliders were AMAZING!! Seriously, I don't usually call out bar food, but they were tasty and flavorful. I also snagged a fry so I can say the fries are good also. The servers were working their arses off. It is an intimate venue and watching them thread the needle between groups of patrons crowded in front of the stage carrying glasses and plates was impressive. My server was on the ball, showing up in perfectly timed intervals to grab my order, swap out my refill and close my tab. This was the second show I saw at Saint Rocke and it was obvious the band makes the crowd, but the venue makes the show and my bf and I enjoyed a great show so thank you Saint Rocke! While my friend and I were waiting for our drink at the bar and conversing (at a normal volume), the security guy came up to us and aggressively said we were being a disturbance, he could hear us "all the way from the front" and that we need to keep it down. Sorry, are we at a music venue or a library? As a paying customer whos been here multiple times in the past, this was a really strange experience. read more

Very cool place to see some live music. It's unfortunate there aren't more live music venues in the South Bay area like it. It was a pleasant surprise to go to Saint Rocke after being out of the South Bay area for three years. Before I left it was the Pitcher House and was kind of a dive. (I say that with the most love, I am a HUGE fan of dive bars!) But once inside the new club, the interior is a polar opposite of what it once was, and the old Pitcher House is unrecognizable. The last time I went to a show at Saint Rocke, I was with a group and we got a "party platter" type dish for the group that included sliders and sushi rolls. Interesting, but pretty good. The only real problem I had with the place was the service, our server pretty much disappeared once our food came, and most of us just started getting drinks at the bar. Problem is, you have to go through the crowd watching the band to get to the bar. I'm sure our server had the same problem so I am not going to say she was terrible, the lay out of the place is a little goofy. But its a small price to pay to see some good, live music and have drinks with friends. read more

Went with a friend to dueling pianos last night ,, such a fun time! Not only were both the guys great piano players but also total performers !! very funny & entertaining !! Show started at 8pm, we got there about 7:15 & we're able to get happy hour prices on food & drinks till 8pm Definitely recommend Sainte Rocke !! This place is a great place to see live music in the South Bay. The drinks are good, the atmosphere is good, and the people are good. Wonderful music venue. I especially enjoyed Hunter and the dirty Jack's when they show up great blues sound. The atmosphere is warm and sexy the environments vary from comfortable seating to dance floor and bar. The real surprise is there food selection is actually really fantastic. Even a foodie will find something right for their palate the staff is gorgeous and really nice. A friendly atmosphere in which to enjoy many of your favorite local and headline bands. read more

So I've been to this establishment a few times and it was fantastic...until my last visit.. on the 15th of September the Dan Band was playing.. so I call to reserve a table for 4 because the happy hour is awesome and totally worth it. The lady set my reservation for 6 and I think all is good. We get to the place at 6.. they come to the doors and day they are running behind and finishing up their sound check.. 40 minutes later they open the doors. We ask if happy hour will be extended.. the guy brings some rude ass girl to the door. She had the worst attitude..and said,"are you the one inquiring about the happy hour? Because I informed everyone we didn't have happy hour today because it's a special event." I told her it was not told to me and it's not on their website.. she litetally said.."well you can go to happy hour somewhere else!" So rude. And then they stuck us in the back corner and the sound was terrible. Couldnt hear the band at all. Worst time ever. My friend had a table reserved for her birthday, it was perfect up until we needed more drinks and there was no sign of our server. She rarely checked up on us and at the end of the night we noticed charges for a drink we did not order. We pointed that out to her, she took the receipt and came back insisting we ordered that one drink and someone drank it. We kept telling her we only ordered one of that drink and not two, she refused to remove it from the bill. Very bad customer service!!! read more

Saint Rocke is a classy little joint to hear great music and lounge at the same time. I have been to two of the piano bar nights, both of them very entertaining. The acoustic shows mid week are also great for date nights if you are looking for a mellow scene. Happy hour has come great deals on food (half off certain items I believe) Its also easy to hold a table if needed. I am often surprised when I mention Saint rocke to others how many have never heard of this place. Part of me wants to keep it a secret but its too good to not want to spread the word. I have been to Saint Rocke a couple times to see shows. The venue is big, great sound, and affordable. I always had a great time. I recently came across some tickets for a show that I never attended there. I called on a whim and asked if I could come see a show on those tickets, and was told that I could come see a show just as long as the tickets face value were the same!! Awesome! The Moms and I frequent a certain tribute band or two there and always have a spectacular time. Yes, the table-for-two minimum is $100, but we'd spend that anyway upright. The servers are awesome (shouting out to Scarlett and Aubrey here). The food is yummy - I may propose marriage to those chicken sliders. We always leave very happy and stoked over another great experience. Yeah, the sight lines from the tables can be funky and the bathrooms could be monitored a little better (ladies room was out of TP last weekend), but it goes with the territory. We've never had any issues whatsoever with our bill (other than reading it through beer goggles), and have made a nice single serving friend a couple times also. This is a great bar!! It's small but intimate. There is plenty of places to sit and space to stand. I love the closeness of being able to see the stage when your favorite artists are performing!! the tickets were reasonably priced. The only complaint I have is the parking but I should have known better what with the venue being on PCH. You just have to find parking anywhere you can on the streets. We had to walk about 15 mins away in the neighborhoods but it wasn't bad. Otherwise it was a great night out! read more
