I had never heard of Sajj before, though I learned it is a chain. The nice lead employee who was working offered to walk me through it and even allowed me to sample the proteins. She was so helpful and didn't make me feel pressured. I opted for pomegranate chicken bowl and said okay to just about everything. The meal exceeded my expectations for a fast casual set up. I think the best was the cauliflower and eggplant, which I'd happily eat a plate of each. Honestly one of the biggest hits for me was the mint lemonade! Tasted so fresh and tart. I'm so impressed with this place. They need this franchise in Texas! Sajj can be best described as "Chipotle for Mediterranean food". I built my bowl with rice, hummus, chickpeas, and falafel. They were able to fill you up with all the other sides as well. They give you free pita chips on your first check in and also complimentary lentil soup with your order! I ordered a side of fries which were absolutely delish. The staffer mentioned that they ran out of fries but they immediately cooked some up and brought it out to me waiting. We were walking by one day and looking in and an employee who was cleaning said hello and said we should their food it's really good. We were going to hit another place on Murphy but as we were walking by after parking in the underground lot, we remembered the friendly employee and decided to try Sajj Mediterranean instead. We had the falafel bowl and it was absolutely delicious. Actually, the falafels were a bit hard but still tasty. The greens and rice were fresh and all the little scoops of stuff they throw in made everything so GOOD. It came with a small bowl of lentil soup. We also ordered a side of hummus which was thinner than we were use to but the pita chips were fresh. The floors and tables were clean. There was a big family group having lunch and an employee was taking their picture for them. There were a few other friends and couples too. It wasn't too loud. We will definitely be back. read more

I ordered (via Yelp) the Schawafel (salad) and Chicken Schawarama (rice) bowls based on other reviews. I opted for several bowls since I'm stuck in the middle of a grueling travel schedule and can't remember what day it is let alone when I'm grocery shopping next or when I'm supposed to eat (what time zone am I in again???). After watching people melt down at the airport for 5 hours yesterday and subsequently navigating SFO in the middle of runway shutdowns and whatever heightened weirdness was occurring, this was such a welcomed meal. The first time I had Sajj was actually at the San Antonio location. I wasn't completely blown away so I never thought about trying it again until they opened up their downtown Sunnyvale location. We've been quite a few time since and I've started to appreciate what they have to offer more. The food tastes pretty good and their service is always awesome. So I don't know anything about Mediterranean food. It looked good when I saw this place outside so we decided to give it a try. Well overall conclusion is it went well. I didn't know what to put in my bowl and stuff but it was good. The things I didn't like about this place Is I didn't feel comfortable when I was ordering my food. This place is the one that push customer for order. I get it you guys usually have long line probably. Or so busy. But there was no one behind me .. I feel like I had to rush and didn't even have time to think what I want. And also they don't have coke or diet coke kinda things. I'm not sure they are just trying to be healthy or something...? This is a great Chipotle inspired Mediterranean food. So filling too! I got the Rice bowl with Chicken Shwarma. Taste buds were popping. I got feta cheese and guac which were both extra and i got a "soda" cup. Now I put that in quotation marks because they don't have soda!!! I really wanted some diet coke but their "soda" machine had izzy water and stuff like that... on the side they had tea and mint lemonade which didn't taste great to me. Being that it was our first time tasting Sajj Mediterranean, we were in disbelief how DELICIOUS and "flavorable" (flavor + favorable) this place is. It's full of vibrant ingredients, a variety of dressings, a handful of beautifully well cooked meat selections and many toppings to choose from. This place is very clean and modern. I enjoy how open the seating is and ambience this place sets. I love the mediterranean music and the food bar when you walk up to order. The staff are very friendly and attentive. If you want GREAT customer service, Sajj Mediterranean is the place to go to. We were greeted by the restaurant manager Sarri and he was especially inviting and welcoming. We explained that we just moved here and it was our very first time. Sarri offered to give us a sample of the meat selection with a smile. He made us feel so comfortable and valued. We will be recommeding this place to many of our friends. Another plus side is they cater as well. I will be sure to have them at my next party. A welcome addition to downtown Sunnnyvale. I work nearby, so it is important to have a number of good options for lunch. Just came in today (their official first day in operation) and was happy with the experience. I like mediterranean food and this place does a few things differently--in a good way. I ordered the Shawafel (a combination of falafel and shawarma--get it?). They added a spread (I choose hummus), and to this I added rice, cauliflower, garbanzo beans, mixed greens, and topped it with tahini sauce. There are bunch of other options to choose from. And it all came together pretty nicely. And the lentil soup was quite good--a little more "brothy" than I expected (you don't really need a spoon, just drink it), but a really nice flavor. The manager was really nice as were all of the people behind the counter. $11 ain't cheap for lunch, but it is the going rate around here, and this seems worth it. read more

Went here with my friends and husband and I ordered the steak shawarma with the rice bowl and all the toppings which turned out to be very fulfilling even 7 hours later! My fave topping was the eggplant and the sauce I got with was the spicy tahiti which wasn't really spicy. The service was great because they offered great helpful recommendations. One of my favorite fast food Mediterranean places in the Bay Area! I first came across Sajj 2 years ago when they had a food truck come by to our office. When I went down to there storefront in Sunnyvale, the layout was like chipotle and you can see your meal being made in front of you. I decided to go with the falafel in pita and customized it with veggies, garlic sauce, hummus, feta, and avocado to name a few. With the extra add ins, my total was $12.00 but I have to say the quantity you get, is super filling. It's totally worth the price. Near the drink section, their is sauce dispenser and you can pick between the spicy red sauce or the green sauce. I love the green sauce so got that in a small container. Now to the food, the pita is soft and fluffy, the falafel is flavored well, and all the other ingredients and sauces, really elevate the overall taste. Once you take 1 bite, you can't stop. Their hummus is delicious and creamy as well. All the ingredients tasted fresh and I honestly did not have room to take the pita chips that are free with the yelp check in. We ordered the pomegranate chicken bowls & falafels on the side from the mobile app for takeout. The pomegranate chicken was delicious but all the falafels were burnt. They were so charred and inedible that you need a steak knife to cut through them - the rock hard pieces broke the plastic utensils the merchant provided. We tried contacting the Sunnyvale location and Sajj customer service, but could not reach anyone. I guess our office won't be serving Sajj for lunch for a while. read more

Writing this review because of the exceptional service provided by the staff today in Sunnyvale center. I am a vegetarian as I ordered the falafel wrap with hummus, garlic, cauliflower, eggplant, mixed greens, avocado, cucumber/tomato, regular tahini sauce, and beets. I was also given some pita chips with some yummy delicious chocolate hummus. What a great combination as I truly enjoyed the vegetarian falafel wrap with cilantro chutney sauce on the side, make sure to grab the whole bottle and bring it to your table. It's that good.
