Sorry but I am not happy with SAJJ at all. I first heard about this place through my ex-girlfriend before she dumped me and thought I check it out but it was a terrible mistake I made. The food here is very overpriced and is really generic. I was expecting some more variety and getting what I paid for but unfortunately that was not the case. Also the menu on Yelp is very outdated which mislead me to believe the prices are not very high. The small and large sizes are way too high for me. If you are broke like me avoid this place at all costs because you will leave with an empty stomach. I am not big on restaurants like this but cmon, I am not paying $15 for some food that lacks the quality I am looking for. I can get a Caltrain ticket one way at that price. I went there with my friend for lunch. There are no so many chairs and tables but easy to get. I think many people go back to their office after they got their foods. Well I came because I was hungry and wanted me some healthy food. I looked at the yelp reviews and noted a bunch of stellar reviews except one so I decided to disregard that review and give them a go. I told the lady behind the counter that I had no idea what to order and to please give me some recommendations. She smiled and walked me through the menu items and gave me input on the items she liked best. My co-worker gave me a free meal voucher to try this place. I was very happy with it. The food was good and it is a sort of build your own bowl or wrap type of place. I got a shawafel wrap which is chicken shawarma and falafel. The wrap was good and pretty big...I could not finish it. The meal also came with lentil soup. The soup was delicious. I love when places serve you with a side of soup! The restaurant is in a nice area. Sajj is the Mediterranean Chipotle, but perhaps healthier and with more veggies. The concept is basically similar, you pick your base, protein, veggies, and sauce. PARKING + AMBIENCE There's a parking lot across from the restaurant for all the Downtown Sunnyvale shops. Street parking can also be found. The restaurant is new, modern, and clean. A good number of seats in the dining area, very nice place to dine at! FOOD I tried the Pomegranate Chicken and Chicken Shawarma and they were both delicious. They use Turmeric Rice for the rice bowls, and it's tasty. The cauliflower is also so good, cauliflower is usually just okay for me, but I really liked how they cooked their cauliflower. Get the tzatziki sauce, which always goes well with any Mediterranean food. I finished my bowl with hummus, arugula, sumac onions, cucumbers, and the spicy tahini sauce on top. Complimentary lentil soup (some type of bean) is included, the flavor is unique, but ultimately not something I would really desire. Check-in for free Pita chips, I had to eat them the next day because I was already stuffed just from the rice bowl. They were a neat snack, but too hard and crunchy for me. SERVICE The workers are all friendly and easy to talk to. They build your bowl quickly and make sure you get everything you want. The portions are also good as I didn't see them skim on any item. CONCLUSION Yum, I really like this place, it's a good restaurant to grab Mediterranean food to-go. Prices are affordable and the portions are generous. Sajj is a great place if you're looking for a fast, easy, and yummy place for Mediterranean food. I'm a huge fan of Israeli food so go see a place that is efficient and cheap caught my attention. The staff is super friendly. I got a bowl with a pita on the side which was A LOT of food - I was stuffed afterwards. My main reason for the three stars is that they do sauce up EVERYTHING, and so my food was essentially drenched in all this sauce and oil despite me specifically stating I wanted a little bit. If I wanted soup, I would have ordered soup (but actually they give you lentil soup for free!), but I didn't and somehow I still ended up with oily, wet vegetables rather than your standard Mediterranean food. I woke up the next morning still feeling uncomfy from the exorbitant oil and sauce. However, if you're a person who likes lots of sauce, salt, and oil, then this would be a great place :) read more

I love this place. It's like a Mediterranean chipotle. I've only seen one other place like it, and it was in Pennsylvania. The prices are pretty reasonable for the portions you get. And it seems fairly healthy since theres a lot of veggies. It's about 10-11 bux w/o tax. My only gripe are that they should toast the wrap before they start putting stuff in it cause afterwards its too stuffed and thats why they toast it while its wrapped in the foil. Also I dont love the beef so much; it reminds me of shredded beef. I feel the chicken is much better. Overall, this is my goto spot if i want something a lil different from my regular lineup, and I would recommend if you were in the area to give it a try. read more

I went to SAJJ for dinner last week after picking up a friend from the Cal Train station. We were hungry and looking for a quick meal, and SAJJ was pretty empty at around 5:30pm, so we decided to give it a try. It's basically Mediterranean food in the Chipotle format where you choose your protein and have the choice of building out a rice bowl, salad, pita, or wrap. We ended up sharing a rice bowl with shawafel which is a combination of shawarma and falafel. This was a great option for us because we wanted to try both the falafel and the steak shawarma (you can choose chicken or steak). From there, almost all the items you see are included in the bowl except for feta or avocado, which is really amazing because of how much food you can get. I ended up trying all the sides which include eggplants, cauliflower, and garbanzo beans. I loved the flavors of the eggplant and cauliflower. You also got to choose sauces like hummus, tzatziki, and garlic sauce. I wanted to try all three so I asked for them to be on the side. Once we paid, we were also give a free cup of soup (some type of bean soup I think) which was a nice surprise. The staffs there seemed friendly and helpful. The person helping us was pretty generous with the portions and we ended up being pretty full from sharing a rice bowl. I would definitely come back again! read more

The chicken shawarma was also good but didn't like the pita bread coz it was not fresh hence the texture & taste suffered. Also it was cold. Would love fresh pita bread not the store bought ones. The Mac n cheese was just your usual readymade packet. The chicken quesadilla (kids menu) was too dry for the kids. Could do with more cheese to make it more moist and easy to eat for the kids. It is Mediterranean food done Chipotle style! What's not to love about the customization of what goes into your bowl or wrap? Of course, if you don't want to make decisions they'll do it for you, just tell them what you want. I got into shawarma after The Avengers movie, in the post-credits scene they are eating shawarma together, and I just had to try it after that. Sure enough this spiced and sliced meat is delicious. Still don't know exactly what spices are used, haven't cared to ask, because it's just really good. Tender, spiced but not spicy, and juicy meat. Love SAJJ's Shawafel bowl though, with both a shawarma (beef imo is better but my wife prefers chicken) and some falafel. On a bed of fenugreek grains with veggies. So good. Why only 4 stars though? I can't believe it took me this long to eat at Sajj? It's like a Mediterranean-style Chipotle with it's "choose as you go" order. As you move down the line, you get to choose what you'd like in your salad or wrap. I ended up getting a salad bowl with chicken, fresh crisp veggie toppings, garlic sauce, hummus, and tahini sauce poured all over. I thought for $11 it was worth it because they actually pile up a good amount and the combination of ingredients just fills you up. I had to order a side of fries which were unique with it's heavy coat texture and goes well with whatever you order. I made sure I had a small cup of that creamy garlic to dip my fries in. I wish their servings for fries were a bit more though; I thought they were too small. I didn't like their service. I thought they kept rushing me down the line even though I was literally the only person standing in line. The girl just kept speeding up the order and I felt rushed. If that wasn't enough, their own cashier forgot to bring me my fries. After ringing me up for my food, I waited for about 15 mins just to get my fries. I actually had to stand in front of them just so I can make my presence known. They all looked confused and asked me if I needed something and I told them my fries so that's when they moved quick.
