Solid spot. I liked how low key the place was. It's located at the main entrance of the mall and across from arguably more competitive options, but this place feels and is a hidden gem in my opinion. I got the veggie ramen and burned my tongue. I was pissed but also happy that the ramen was hot and fresh. The broth was not too salty and just right. I also got the generic ice cream macaroons ramen places like these have. It was good. I liked the playlist most of all. It was a bunch of 2010s pop music. It really brought me back to my youth. Solid establishment. The waitresses were nice too, they made sure to check up on me from time to time without being too overwhelming or overbearing. I enjoyed it overall. Recommend.

I went to order only a tempra . I waited about 20 minutes. (Only person there besides a couple ) . I specifically asked for the sauce on the side. After 20 minutes I got my food with the sauce on top . The lady says " sorry I know you asked for it on the side but they put it on top, would you like for them to REMAKE them ?? " I said yes please. waited another 10 minutes. Once she came back with my food I noticed that they never REMADE them . Instead , they individually fried each one of them. it tasted awful !!!! I couldn't taste anything but fried food............I do not recommend this place

Small Poké Bowl (comes with two fish options)
Shelby S.

I came here for lunch today at the recommendation of a coworker and it was delicious! They have a great menu selection. I opted for the poké bowl and loved how customizable it is. I ordered the small, which was honestly still pretty big and I was super full after. The fish was delicious- no fishy taste at all. The service was excellent. We were well attended to. This is located in the food court area of the mall and is easily accessible right from the parking garage. I will definitely be back!

Three Item Lunch combo

Tried the Small poke bowl. For $16.00. Choice of 2 Fish, white rice , smelt eggs, sprouts, crispy garlic. And Crabmeat, ADD $1.50. Sea weed Salad, cucumber salad, Edadame and Crabmeat or Avocado are all extra charges. ** I expected regular Bean Sprouts, but got Baby bean sprouts, nothing to bite into. This bowl is Small for sure. In Palm Desert Ca, used to get more rice and all the extra toppings for $15.00. ( Six months ago.) And the Cashier Server didnt seem friendly ( While I had questions about the dish.) this time compared to my last visit.

Chicken teriyaki bento
Stefanie H.

Stopped by for dinner while in the Town Center Mall. Seating is a little chaotic as the 2 waitresses are busy serving tables but we found a table within minutes. Our waitress was very friendly and had our drinks & order taken quickly. We ordered the spring rolls, Chicken Teriyaki bento, Beef Teriyaki bento & Chicken/Spicy Pork bowl. The Spring rolls were perfectly crunchy but rather tasteless. The bento meals are plentiful & delicious! You get miso, white rice, green salad, California roll (4 pieces), tempera (excellent!!) and your main dish. We had to wait a bit longer for the bowl but it was really good. This place filled up fast around dinner time on a Friday night. Just FYI - go to the cash register when you're ready to check out.

Tofu stew

I ordered a pickup from DoorDash and on the menu it does not say that the seafood tofu stew comes in spicy. When I went into the store to pick up the girls told me that the menu does show that it's spicy. I told the girls at the register and they said they couldn't give me a refund because it was through DoorDash. So I reordered another one without spice and they couldn't even discount or work with me somehow to make my experience better. Being someone that comes from food service I expected more. I paid a total of $40 for one wrong order and then a correct one. And to make my experience worst I didn't even keep the wrong one I left it at the restaurant , I screenshot the menu and you can see it does not say it comes spicy .... Honestly I won't be coming here anymore.

Best place to get sushi and ramen in Santa Maria!!! Healthy portions, great tasting food and pretty good service. I've been here four times in the last couple of months. Delicious!!

We really liked this place. Reminds us of home. Rice was not overdone, so was the trimmings that comes along with it. Very equally proportioned! I'm surprised of the negative reviews maybe but it's their experiences so I will validate it. The staff was nice and approachable. We've gone twice already! First one was a take out during rush lunch hour. It took a long time to get our food but we had time. The second we dined in around 1pm and tried a different menu as well. There's so many options to choose from so we will definitely comeback and check the others out!

Noodles and chicken.
Ron Y.

I wish I could of given a higher score but when it comes to food I think it is important to be honest as you can. First off, the establishment is beautiful, everything looks new and clean. They have music videos going on but I wish they could of toned it down, when eating you want to mellow not chew as fast as greyhound. Customer service was great, I wanted Ramen or any noodles with chicken and the associate offered a Japanese bowl, when we got our food it was exact as the bowl I had at their other location in Lompoc, so I was expecting a great meal. Well, the noodles wasn't totally cooked and the chicken was tough as a leather heel (old chicken) or the chicken should of boiled longer. I'm hoping to come back and try again but I have my eye on the chicken teriyaki bowl, and hope to give them a better rating.

The food is consistently fresh, comforting, and thoughtfully prepared, and the staff makes you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The sushi is the standout, clean flavors, generous portions, and rolls that actually taste balanced rather than overloaded. The fish always seems fresh, and their specialty rolls strike a perfect mix of creativity and familiarity. If you're not in a sushi mood, the teriyaki plates, tempura, and noodle dishes are just as good, great textures, great seasoning, and never greasy or heavy. Service is friendly and quick, even during busy hours, and the team genuinely seems to care about giving guests a good experience. The atmosphere is relaxed, family-friendly, and pleasantly low-key--ideal for an easy dinner out or a casual date night. Overall, Chiban is a reliable, delicious, and warmly run spot that Santa Maria is lucky to have. If you're craving Japanese food, this is the place to go.

Spicy tuna. Looks like it has the same squishy cucumber as the last roll. I'll bet it's got that same yucky rice.

A true hidden gem and super underrated restaurant!…read more The hubby raved about this place, but I have only tried the takeout food, even tho they were good, I wanted to wait until I got the full dining in experience to write them a review. So glad I finally got to check them out in person! The inside looks simple, but makes you feel like you have stepped foot into a little piece of Japan, except it's much more spacious than most restaurants in Japan lol. Their menu is simple and might be a shock to some people that they offer only a few basic rolls. However, their main star here is the japanese entrees and meal set. I opted for the Masa Gozen both time for to go and here. The portion is hugeeee! It comes with several different vegetable sides, a large order of tempura, 2 pieces of gyoza, and miso soup. It's more than enough to get full from, but of course my eyes are always bigger than my stomach, so I had to order several appetizers to share with my husband and toddler. Highly recommend the sashimi salad! For the amount of food and the quality, I can't believe how cheap everything is. My Masa Gozen was less than $25 before tax. Excellent food and bang for your bucks! I really hope they continue to strive and flourish. If they start offering more sushi rolls options on the menu, it'd definitely help attract more customers!

We were walked to our booth and asked what we wanted to drink. We asked for a coke and Diet Coke. We were brought a coke and a sprite. 10 minutes later he took the sprite back and switched it out with the correct drink I asked. I was surprised that they used styrofoam plates...making so much waste. The buffet was...odd. Random Chinese food with American food and taquitos. The food didn't have proper name plates for them so it was kind of a guessing game, and the ones that did weren't even labeled correctly. The food was okay. Not the best Chinese food I've had. They were all cold by the time I went back to my booth. They had steamed bao buns with NOTHING in it. It was just the bun. The only good thing there was the sesame balls. The sushi bar seemed sketch, so I didn't get the sashimi. They had a kid probably 10 years old, working at the sushi bar, playing on his iPad. Is that even legal? It was just so random and all over the place. Random stars on the walls and in the bathroom. I won't come back and I won't recommend this place to anyone. I should have read the reviews before I came here. Not worth $23.
