Been here twice. The first time sometime during the past winter, then again recently. I remembered I hated the first experience, but completely forgot why, so we gave it another try. Two of the same orders, one half the size of the other. Service is SHIT. I repeat, SHIT: Both waitresses we've had over there act as if we are there WASTING their precious time. You want more water? Some wasabi? FUHGETABOUDIT. Beg and plead all you want but your thirst and happiness is their last priority. I don't get what's with all the sushi snobs. This is a great place; you should try it! Tony, the owner and chef is a very friendly, personable guy. He has a sweet gig here, right across from MSAC. I love to duck in here for lunch! We like to sit at the bar. The SALMON SKIN HANDROLL IS BOMB, so delicious. And the $1 sushi? It is only 1 piece, but what if you just want to taste something you've never tried before? It shouldnt cost alot to try a bite of something new, and here it only costs a buck. Also the time period that I had to wait to get my order of a bento box and sushi took more than 45 mins. The service that they had here was horrible as well. Its cheap and really close to home or I'd probably never some back. The sushi is pretty cheap. My friend and I couldn't decide what to get so we just ordered the sushi boat that was $20. It came with about 34 pieces of sushi with about 5-6 different kinds of rolls. I was a tad bit sad that it didn't come out in a boat like it said on the menu but just in the plates they had. Anyways, the crunchy roll and Mexican roll were my favorite out of the rolls we ordered. Both are a little bit spicy but the texture was good. The service is a little slow since there's only one waitress but it was fine considering we had to eat how many pieces of sushi. So we were able to pace ourselves. The specials are great before 5PM, after the prices are as every other sushi spot out there. Before 5PM on the other hand, there are very wholesome, generous rolls from $4 to $10. I always order the Crazy Roll because it's filled with fresh, assorted fish and jalopeno sauce. Perfect combination for a hot sauce lover. My homie Alex always orders the Shrimp Killer. I love this place. It's such a good place to get a sushi fix on a budget. For $20, my boyfriend and I were stuffed (and trust, we eat a lot when it comes to sushi). Also, the fish is fresh and they put in a good amount of fish in their rolls. This is not the place to come to when you are in a hurry. However, you get your food faster when you do take-out (plus you don't have to leave tip), so that's probably a better option. Also, in terms of the service, I've never had a problem. There's only one waitress whenever I go, but she always attentive and refills our water cups a lot. Walked in on a Wednesday for lunch. Originally wanted to go to Chirashi by Mr. 7 but they were closed, unfortunately. Came into this place without yelping it first and it has got to be the worst decision I made that week. Ordered 2 hand rolls, miso soup, rainbow roll and a california roll and tempura. The 2 hand rolls came out last, even after the fried tempura. The miso soup usually contains wakame but they used more like a nori seaweed, it was strange. The fried tempura was terrible. it was golden brown like it was over fried but the veggies were still crunchy. There was a fish on the rainbow roll that we could not eat because it was slimy and tasted wrong. Service was very slow and the place was not even crowded. Not coming back here again. read more

We are repeat customers having been there over 20 times over the past year. Their rolls range anywhere from $3 to about $15. I would recommend several choices: Salmon, Tuna, Eel, White Tuna, Salmon Tempura, Tuna Tempura and Firecracker roll. They also have about 4-5 different very tasty asian beers, $1.50 for regular 12oz. bottle or $3 for the BIG 24oz. Bottle...You can't even buy a 12oz at most restaurants for $3. Overall I give Sake Sushi a 4 star rating. Do yourself a favor and try this place!!! read more

A typical sushi place. It's small and comfortable. The sushi is very average but that's not a bad thing. It's just really convenient and never crowded. You always get tons of attention from the one server and one sushi chef. The prices are perfect for an affordable lunch or casual dinner. Happy hour is all day except Friday and Saturday and that means $1 per sushi and 20% off all sushi. You can get a ton of variety for a really small check. My friend used to work here and she made the playlist that's always on so if it's not kost 103.5 so it's good music too. I just love the comfort of this place. Stop by when you just have a craving for quick and cheap sushi. They also have plenty of seating for larger parties if you want to dine out with your family. read more

I'm a regular here and I LOVE the sushi here. The fish does not taste gross and it doesn't slither down your throat, as I had experienced before at other sushi places. I recommend the Crunchy Roll, Spicy Salmon Hand Roll, Mango Salmon Roll, Spicy Baby Lobster Roll, and if you're not into rolls, the salmon or chicken teriyaki bowls. Delish! The sushi chef does take his time on the rolls, which I don't mind because I think they're yummy! The only thing that gets me is that, for some servers, you have to get they're attention to get help. My family and i have been to this place several times. The food is good. The customer service here though is not as good. As you walk in the restaurant you must wait to be seated, the place is very small for the employees to notice customers come in. However, they DONT even acknowledge you as you come in. No eye contact, the waitress they have is usually the same two and they both are horrible with their customer service. At one point I had to go up to the counter and ask if they were going to keep ignoring us or actually give us a table. All she said in a minute as she was waking away to the back. After a couple more minutes of waiting she asked for how many in our party, I replied the number and she said oh 15 min with a rude tone. They currently have an "happy hour all day" promotion with $1 nigiri, half price beers, etc. I ordered salmon sashimi, two tuna nigiri, and a baked scallop roll. Most of the rolls were supposedly 20% off (with the cheaper prices already reflected on the menu so I dunno). Since tuna is so bland, I REALLY tasted their strangely sweet sushi rice, but for a dollar a piece I shouldn't really complain about that. The baked scallop roll was better tasting only because of all the flavors piled on it; I guess that's the trick. The scallops were a little stiff / overcooked though and they were tiny bay scallops. The salmon sashimi was fine but I was hoping for larger pieces. Probably the worst aspect was the service. The waitress didn't check on me once. Also, while I was eating, a salesperson from a seaweed supplier was desperately hawking her product to the chef / owner while standing next to where I was sitting. I'm trying to enjoy my meal here. This should have been dealt with at the back of the house since the chef wasn't busy preparing food at the moment. Got filled up for $25; I usually spend $40 at sushi restaurants. Overall, meh. I ordered their 2 item lunch combo with Chicken terriyaki and spicy tuna roll. Boyfriend ordered 3 item lunch combo with chicken and salmon terriyaki and ca roll plus 3 albacore hand rolls. CHICKEN TERRIYAKI: It was ok.. not GREAT. Chicken was good but the terriyaki sauce could have been better. I think the sauce was way too watery for a TERRIYAKI SAUCE. SPICY TUNA ROLL: OMGOMGOMG I LOVEDDD THEIR SPICY TUNA ROLL!! usually alot of sushi joints put such little tuna in the rolls but this place puts TOO MUCH! hehe too much tuna? oh yeaaa:) I tried some of my boyfriend's salmon terriyaki and albacore hand roll. I've been coming to this place since it was called Jun's Sushi eight years ago. I used to drive from Riverside just to get a meal. This is where I eat if I'm craving sushi. I make everyone eat here with me. I l-o-v-e this place. I would have given five stars, but being a patron for so long I can fully vouch for their terrible service. Not that I care though because the sushi is so amazing- it goes along the goodness to service ratio curve (i.e. the better the food the less amazing the service has to be). I absolutely ADORE the Crazy Roll, which is an assortment of fish (I actually don't know what exactly is in it other than salmon and tuna) with a piece of jalapeno and all in Sriracha sauce, and their Alaska Roll, which is just california rolls with salmon on top. Defiantly not worth the wait save your time and go somewhere else where the food is actually good and doesn't take forever to be prepared. It was getting late and I really wanted a quick sushi fix. Bad choice. Ordered spicy tuna roll, sashimi salad, and two salmon sushi. Spicy tuna and salmon sushi all had way too much rice!! I had to scrape alot of the rice out from my rolls and sushi. And the sashimi salad... did not like the dressing at all!! They didn't give me an option or asked if I wanted any other dressings. I could tell the salmon was not fresh. It was frozen and thawed for serving. Other than that since I'm not suffering from any stomach pain so I guess its okay. As for service, not so great. It was not busy at all. Ordered water, didn't get it until I asked again. Got my salmon sushi but I had no utensils to eat them with so I had to ask for that too. When we asked for our check I gave my debit card... then the waitress said it got declined TWICE. so I checked my bank account and I had more than plenty to pay for my $15 meal there. My brother and I dropped in since we were in the area for work. I can see why the other patrons complained that the sushi tasted like it was frozen. I had ordered a salmon sashimi and it was really cold. It wasn't like biting into a frozen piece of fish, but it was a lot colder than what I'm normally served at other sushi restaurants. Our waitress was nice, so no complaints there. Our order took a little over 45 minutes to fulfill. There were only 2 sushi chefs (I'm going to assume it's the husband and wife).
