Service was excellent. Not too crowded on Sunday evening. I started with a banana cream pie martini which was excellent. I also had the French onion soup. It was tasty, but the bread wasn't soggy like I'm used to and it was hard to cut with a spoon. For dinner I just had buffalo wings with buffalo sauce, Asian Chilli sauce and one other that I forget. They were tasty, but oddly enough I was charged fifty cents for blue cheese dressing without even being asked first. Kind of strange! I came here yesterday for lunch and enjoyed the experience. This place has two bars so I was a little confused when I walked in as I thought it was two different places at first. Had higher hopes given the great reviews but food was just average. Though it is very fairly priced, which was nice to see for once. Baked stuffed scrod was average-- not delicious, not terrible. Sakonnet River Grille was phenomenal, full stop. My family and I decided to try it out today for a late lunch and couldn't be happier. To start, the service was great. Our server, Hayley, was an absolute rockstar. She was friendly, personable, knowledgeable, and checked up on us just enough (as in, perfectly; not too often but didn't forget about us either). Seriously, she rocked. The food. Wow. The food was outstanding. I had their beer-battered fish and chips and let me tell you, it was excellent. Normally, when I have that dish, the batter is way too heavy and is filling in all the wrong ways. The beer batter they used here was just right! Great flavor, texture, and wasn't too heavy. Oh, and the tables have the malt vinegar there when you sit down, so you know they know what they're doing. The fries were spot on as well. Just the right amount of crisp without being hard. As for my wife, she got their pork belly sandwich and absolutely loved it. The pork belly was cooked perfectly and was just the right amount of sweet. Sakonnet River Grille is absolutely on our short list of restaurants that we're going to go back to. We don't eat out often, so it's nice to find a reliable, quality, place to go get a bite. Once again the SRG delivered just what I needed! I sat at the bar on Saturday evening and enjoyed a great martini a fabulous dinner and a Bruins game. Zack at the bar was a gracious host who made sure I was always satisfied. His martini skills were top notch and he seems to be mixing up may colorful creations. We live in nearby Portsmouth. This place is usually pretty consistent with regards to food variety/quality, portions, and service. They usually have a good variety of pork, seafood, and beef dishes. The burgers and sandwiches are really good as well. You're not going to get the views or ambiance of the Boathouse, but I personally think their food is just as good if not better. We paid a visit to the restaurant last week. We were one of only two parties in the dining room. Our server was nice enough but our issues were with the meal and a lack of attention to meal requests. My date ordered no onions on his salad. The salad unfortunately arrived with onions. After bringing it to the server's attention she came back with another salad without onions. My date went to take a bite of the new salad, stopped and smelled the bite that was on his fork. I asked what was wrong. Handing me his fork he said, "Tell me what you smell". I smelled the lettuce on his for and it had the overwhelming smell of old fish. Out of concern for cross contamination he didn't eat the salad and we made the server aware. Unfortunately she didn't seem concerned at all. He ordered fries as a second side at that point. My date asked for his steak to be cooked to a medium temperature, it was cooked unevenly more medium on one side, rare on the other. We did make the server aware but we were so hungry my date decided to eat what he could at that point. The french fries he received unfortunately also smelled like fish. I'm guessing the were fried in the same fryer as the seafood. He did not eat them. We were really looking forward to our first date night out after the Covid restrictions were lifted and unfortunately it was very disappointing. read more

I was working on the east coast for a month and ran across Sakonnet River Grille on Yelp the first week. I was highly anticipating trying their pirates cove seafood pasta! From the pictures and Yelp reviews I figured it was a staple dish that I mustn't pass up while out here. I ordered clam chowder to start, (although not as creamy as anticipated) it had great flavor and made me excited for my dish. Now, I understand when dealing with seafood it's the star of the show so I was expecting less than more in regards to portion size. Must add, the prices are up from what's posted on the online menu, understandable due to inflation. Upon arrival it had a fair appearance from what I thought it would look like. I was looking for the flavors to wow me but it was just hit or miss with it. The scallops were probably the best part of the dish which came with three! The lobster although seemed plentiful on the plate seemed over cooked and bottom of the barrel pieces. The shrimp didn't necessarily stand out but it didn't disappoint either. The pasta was a little tough and the sauce wasn't really giving me the creamy sensation I was hoping for. My waitress was nice but also young and didn't really have much to offer besides bringing the food and drinks to the table. It would be nice to be checked on or have a little excitement in regards to the food. I still tipped fairly above 15% but she could've been walking out better tonight if she learned the ropes. I don't know the next time I'll be out this way, but I hope, like some of the reviews I noticed, that my opinion will be changed the next go around. read more

We were suggested to stop by here after looking at some prop in Tiverton so we decided to stop by. Well all I can say, other than the service by Anna, was wouldn't waste your time. Calamari was definitely from a bag as no bodies and all rings were same size and breading was extremely consistent. They were tasteless and definitely needed the spicy sauce they serve with it. My wife had fish tacos.....a joke, maybe about 3 oz of fish in all three, no even an eighth of an ounce of quac in all three, barely could see it, and just plain unappetizing. I had the swordfish which was dry, even with a bunch of lemons squeezed on it. This place is like a lower level diner, would never return. read more

We went for the first time and can't wait to go back! Sweet Emma greeted us warmly and guided us to a booth. Kat, our server, came over right away to take our drink order. Heather, the bartender, crafted two delicious martinis that were perfect. Our cheerful, efficient server made excellent recommendations, which were greatly appreciated. My husband had Buffalo Chicken Wings and the Shaved Rib Eye Sandwich, which he thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered The Pirate's Cove Seafood Pasta and became obsessed from the first delectable bite. I cannot adequately express how amazing the lobster cream sauce is, and the portion was huge! I will be devouring the remainder of my feast tonight. When we arrived with our party of 6, we were told that although they had taken our name down over the phone and said there were tables, we had to be present to be seated so the tables were given away. After waiting a short time we were seated. Our waitress was very cool {not in the hip sort of way}. We all found something to order and my husband and I settled on the same dish, chicken Mozambique. We get this dish often from local Portuguese restaurants and we can say we were super disappointed with our choice. Others at our table were pleased with theirs, one got the vegetarian option and others got the burgers. I think we may have chosen wrong as many people rave about the food. My family happened to also be seated at a nearby table and my aunt had ordered a Sangria. After seeing how big hers was I decided to order one. My glass was much smaller, and it was $10! I'm giving this place one star and didn't even eat there. My sister and I walked in and and the hostess sat us at a booth and told us Tim would be our server. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and when I got back my sister had already ordered her drink. Tim was behind the bar and asked if I wanted something to drink. I told him I wasn't sure yet as I wanted to look at my options as I sat down I noticed my sisters coke sitting on the bar while Tim took the orders of others. When he came over to us my sister asked what other drinks they had and he said "all Pepsi products" in a annoyed tone. I asked for ginger ale and when Tim brought it over he slammed it on the table. We got up and walked out. I think they're racist in this establishment. Service at any establishment should be courteous and respectful. Googled restaurant near me and this popped up. The place is clean and the staff is very friendly. Cocktails were great, menu is great as it has something for everyone, and the prices are very reasonable. Downside was that it took so long to get our food and that the dessert prices are ridiculous. $7.99 for an average piece of cheesecake is ridiculous.
