Tonkotsu Ramen
Miles C.

This may be the bottom three Ramen shops I've ever visited. I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen (pronounced ton-koh-tsu). The noodles tasted like they were frozen, not fresh, and they were overcooked. There was not very much depth in the broth and it was very much watered down with very little tare to season the broth. The egg was actually great and the chashu was about average. I did not really expect much from a 24 hour spot however I was very hopeful.

We've seen this place a couple of times because it's one of the few places that are open late. Unfortunately, we don't think we'll be coming back. The food was not worth the price as the ramen was average at best. The only thing that stood out to me was the taste of the pork chashu, but even that was dry. The service was mediocre as it's more of a take out place. Servers only take your order but everything is your job like getting water and cleaning up your own bowls. The worst part of this experience was definitely the bathroom. It had the worst smell like a mixture of bleach and urine. I wouldn't recommend this place and I'd suggest cup noodle if you're craving ramen at midnight.

My first time eating Ramen I can't honestly say it was an experience for sure. I'm in the middle with it but I need it a second time to give a formal review , I will be back

Nice place, beautiful restaurant. Ramen was good but lacked some flavor. Would like more seating . Service was good nothing special seemed a little self serve type of dining experience.

Came here after a show and it really hit the spot. Food, service and location are great. I also love that the take out is self service. When you're finished you can easily grab everything yourself. They have dining inside and outside and the cutest patio area! It's also in such a beautiful part of downtown riverside, so there's lots of other shops and fun things to check out after you're finished!

We came at about 2:30am, this place was so busy, lots of drunk people. We ordered 2 tonkatsu with pork egg bean sprouts and corn & a can of soda. It came out to $45 It didn't take forever but people were complaining.

Decided to come here for lunch after the Farmers Market! It was a great choice! So much flavor! Although the chili sauce will take everything up a notch! The atmosphere is very creative! You order at the front when you walk in and then go find your seat! I believe this is one of the few 24 hour food locations!

Late-Night Spot With Cool Vibes, but Food Could Be Fresher Saku Ramen is definitely a cool hangout spot in downtown Riverside. The aesthetic is trendy, the atmosphere is chill, and one of the biggest perks is that they're open 24 hours -- perfect for late-night snacks, walking around downtown with friends, or grabbing something after a night out. I went on Halloween, and they were super busy, so I understand the rush. Because of that, it took about 30 minutes to place my order. The staff was still very friendly despite the crowd, and even the security guard was really chill and talked with us while we waited, which made the time pass faster. I will say the food wasn't as fresh as I hoped for that night, but given how packed it was, I'm willing to give them another try. The vibe, the convenience, and the 24-hour service make it a spot I'd come back to. Overall, great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a fun place to end your night -- I just hope the food is fresher

We were staying at the Mission Inn and decided to go over and try the Ramen from this place. I have heard a lot of good things and that it stays open late and we wanted to try it. We went there was a short line maybe about 15 minutes before we got to the front to go ahead and place our order we did an order to stay there. We found a seat in the inside Received our food pretty quickly. Everything was really good. I just wish my noodles were a little softer. that was my only complaint other than that we loved it and would definitely recommend this place and be back.

Extremely mid ramen to say the least .. was not worth paying $70 for .. and $13 for 5 wings ?? Probably my fault for even saying yes to that . But if it's going to be that expensive , I would hope to be impressed .. in terms of service and atmosphere , the only area that seems to stay cool is the entrance where there's a fan blowing but anywhere past that you should expect to be sweating while you eat . Service and all the cute art on the walls were probably the only highlight of this place . ‍

Late night ramen spot that is 24/7. Open seating as its first come first serve. All ramen is served in a to-go style fashion. Tonkatsu ramen is good and their broth is savory included with the all the right toppings. Fried karrage is yummy.

Me and my friends went here for lunch on new years day after attending a NYE event. Aside from it being open on a holiday, the cold breeze and a tiring day called for a ramen day! We all crafted our own ramen and I always go for any pork bone broth that's why I went for the tonkatsu base. However, the soup was not warm enough and the soup is too thick. Not the best for me. After going through the reviews here I don't know if it was just us but yeah they flip the screen for a tip but you have to pick up your order and clean your table and bring back your trays. I don't mind though since it's a holiday, gotta pay extra for the people who worked and cook for us! The review is mainly based on the this dish. The ambiance was fine since and we had good seating.

We shared the philly roll so we think the salmon was bad. We also got separate ramen bowls. The miso ramen broth had a good flavor but the drunken ramen was pretty bland besides a straight basil and ginger flavor. The pork was very firm and difficult to chew in both of our meals. The egg was closer to hard boiled than soft boiled. The noodles were cooked well. The thai tea was decent. It was extremely sweet and diluted and didn't have that strong flavor most thai tea has. Service-wise, the waitress was friendly but she disappeared from the floor after giving us our food for about 30 minutes and never checked in with us or was available when we were ready to leave.

Anyway... After perusing through the menu, which had quite a few blacked out items (black tape applied over the menu item) we both decided on the Tonkatsu Spicy Black Ramen Noodles as well a the Crispy Fried Rice appetizer... the appetizer was delivered but I had to request some small individual plates so that we could eat off of our own plate, rather than reaching over trying to share the same plate and making a mess on the table... no worries, small oversight (or so I thought at the time)... Next came the Ramen... Looked very appetizing, but again I had to get up and request a couple of soup spoons... went to dig in, and while the bottom of the bowl was warm, the broth itself was quite cold... after calling over the waitress and asking them to please reheat (even if they had to use the microwave)... the waitress took it back to the "open" kitchen and they used the microwave to reheat... The bowls were returned and as we started to eat, satisfied that the broth was indeed hot, we noticed a couple of items missing: the corn - no corn in the broth like it was described... in addition to that, no Wood Eared Mushrooms were in the broth either... the wood eared mushrooms set the "black" apart from the standard ramen and cost $.50 more per serving... when questioned about it, the hostess informed us that they didn't have any mushrooms... as a consolation, she offered us one of the "extra price" toppings in place if it... we opted for the tofu... a bowl of tofu pieces came out and although they appeared to have steam coming off of it, the tofu was cold as well... smh... The hostess returned them to to kitchen to be reheated... We received a 10% discount ($4.90 of of a $49 bill)... Not sure if they're going to make it with this level of service and food quality... Good Luck!

Know your Math I think anyone ordering here needs to pay…read moreattention to the math because the pricing makes absolutely no sense. It's honestly funny how the "build your own combo ramen" lets you choose the exact same soup base, meat, noodles, and toppings for cheaper, while the pre-named ramen with literally the same ingredients costs way more. Same bowl, same toppings, same flavor -- just a different name and higher price tag. Maybe after this gets pointed out they'll fix it, or maybe not, but people should definitely watch what they're ordering. As for the ramen itself, it was just very average. The broth looked creamy, but the flavor was pretty flat and lacked depth. It tasted more salty than rich, and didn't have that slow-cooked tonkotsu flavor you expect from a good ramen spot. The chashu pork was decent visually but tasted dry around the edges and not very flavorful. Even the noodles and toppings felt basic and forgettable. The whole bowl looked better than it actually tasted. What confuses me the most is how insanely high the reviews are. Feels more like social media hype and inflated reviews than actual quality food.

Yoshioishi Sushi & Ramen had solid reviews, so we decided to pivot and give it a try. First impression: the menu is extensive. It's one of those places where you almost don't know where to start. The fan favorites are marked with a red flower, which helped narrow things down. We also asked our server for suggestions, which made it easier to navigate. We arrived just before 5pm and there was only one other table. We were told to sit anywhere we'd like. By the time we left, the restaurant was filling up and it seemed like there were quite a few regulars coming in. Here's what we tried: Salted edamame: Just average. A bit limp and not as crisp as I'm used to, so they didn't feel especially fresh. Gyoza: Really nice flavor and the dipping sauce was well balanced. These were solid. Yellowtail jalapeño sashimi: This was different in a good way. It had cilantro and a slightly sweeter sauce instead of the traditional garlic ponzu. Unexpected, but a pleasant surprise. Crispy chicken karaage: Slightly over fried but still flavorful. The dipping sauce helped. Crispy rice with spicy tuna: Just okay. One piece barely had tuna on top. Not bad, but not something I'd reorder. Cucumber salad: Served on a bed of iceberg lettuce, which surprised us, but the dressing had great flavor. This disappeared quickly. Nigiri: The salmon was incredibly fresh and one of the highlights. The albacore and toro came topped with fresh wasabi, which was a nice touch. We really enjoyed the salmon and albacore. The toro didn't quite melt in your mouth like we hoped. It was a bit chewy. Crazy Salmon Roll: Good flavor, but note that the salmon on the outside is fully cooked. We expected raw, so just something to keep in mind. Snow Mountain Roll: A fan favorite at the table. Great texture and flavor. Plain udon and plain ramen: Both were excellent. The broth was rich and flavorful, the noodles were cooked perfectly, and the portions were generous. We definitely over ordered, but we left very full. One small detail for fellow tea lovers: I always look forward to hot tea at a Japanese restaurant, especially when it's served in a small pot you can refill at the table. Here it was hot water with a tea bag in a metal cup, which was too hot to comfortably hold, and there was no teapot provided. Not a deal breaker, but next time I'd probably skip the tea. Service was strong. In addition to our main server, two other team members checked in and refilled water regularly, which we appreciated. Overall, I'd call it a 3.5 if that were an option, so I'm landing at 3 stars. The food was decent, the atmosphere comfortable, and the service attentive. It didn't completely wow us, but we're glad we tried it.

Honestly most people know ramen expectations should be low when you order it as take out but i think they do a great job with how they package their takeout! I've tried their normal lemonade and their mango passionfruit sweet tea and personally i like their sweet tea more! The drink portion is nice and large! Definitely not overly sweet and it always hit with my ramen. I've tried most of their ramens, i like the fact that they have different style noodles. Personally i think their wavy noodles go better with the rich broths like the miso and the Tokyo style one (a mix of shoyu and tonkotsu ) and the straight noodles go god with their clear broth like the shoyu or the yuzu shio. I normally get their shoyu mostly because it gives me the least acid reflux, but that's nothing with their food it's just a health issue for me :( i would say my favorite is their Tokyo style broth. I think it has a nice balance of flavor and the wavy noodles just soak up that broth nicely. I've only had their appetizers on takeout so they're not super fresh, and not really a main stopper for me. The large is good but i wish it was a little bigger with the pieces. Sometimes they're just small and idk it feels like it's missing something. I got the opportunity to stop here yesterday after my tattoo, and the service was decent. Got seated quickly and my order taken quick as well. My food took a few minutes to be made but nothing crazy of a wait. Overall i had a good time, i do go on a Saturday around 7:30 pm so not sure if that matters. For take out i do recommend ordering min 30 minutes before pickup because i do feel like it can take a minute, but thats the nice part of take out that you can order in advance. I think for Eastvale/ norco ramen this place a nice broth and noodles. And it's not overly oily or salty :)
