The noodles' quality wasn't that good but ngl the pork was tasty and melted in your mouth. It is 24/7 ramen though so it's okay for what it is and the service is pretty quick even though they get pretty busy. The ambiance in there is nice, and they have cool, unique soda flavors at their fountain. Located in downtown Riverside, Saku is open 24 hours a day, which explains the overpriced menu. The service was fast and friendly, and they text you when your order is ready. There's self seating inside the restaurant and outdoor tables to eat on as well. However, I've never seen any establishment charging extra for typical toppings like seaweed or rarely egg, which made me kind of iffy off the bat. For $18-$20, the portion is measly and the self seating is horrendous. The benches are weird and make it difficult to lean down and eat; I was actually better off standing while eating than sitting. The ramen noodles were okay and the chashu pork was almost burnt to a crisp, but everything was seasoned well. The redeeming factor of the dish was the jammy egg, which was really well marinated with soy sauce and delicious. Still, in my opinion, you can definitely get better tasting ramen outside of Riverside for around $15-17 but it's still an option if you have a hankering for it and are in the area. Also, I get that 24/7 spots sometimes try to give off a trendy and loud club vibe, but why are we playing hardstyle at max volume at 7:30 pm... I've been wanting to try this place out for a while and finally got a chance to after a night out in riverside. I love that this place is open 24 hours! The inside is cute and the service is great. The food also smelled amazing when I walked in. While waiting in line to order I asked a lady in front of me if she had been here before and what she recommended. She recommended I try the tonkotsu for the broth. I got the tonkotsu broth with the yellow noodles and pork. I added in bean sprouts, corn, and egg. At first I forgot to add the egg so I went back up to the front. I ended up walking outside to take a picture of the entrance and the gentlemen who was working as the security guard recommended I try the Niku fried rice. AMAZING ramen!!! this place is open 24/7!!My dad brought me & my boyfriend for our first time @9/9:30pm on a Monday & it wasn't too packed, the vibes were dope, the music was upbeat. The minute you walk in you're greeted & you order upfront, they have menus so you can look & they don't rush you so no worries if it's your first time. We got to sit anywhere & they had a self serve water area, which I loved. It's in the middle of DTR so afterwards you can walk around & explore all the stores! Charlie gave me such an incredible first impression of this restaurant. He took my order, but, he was also tending to other guests during his shift and making sure they were doing ok. I was so happy to engage with people who were genuinely really friendly. I was so happy with my dining experience here and interaction from the employees. And Here's why: Ordered: 2 bowls of Tonkatsu Ramen with standard house "Yellow" noodles. 1) Overpriced: Small disposable plastic bowl of not authentic ramen (see next) for $15. 2) Average at Best Quality: Noodles like Spaghetti, Tonkatsu like Bacon Anyone who rated the food quality here as excellent must not have had authentic Ramen from a real Japanese restaurant. This is "Maybe" ok for $5.99 but not $15. 3) No Service, Literally: Seat yourself, even though the restaurant gives the appearance and pricing of full service. Nobody will check on you to see if you need a drink even though there is nowhere to get your own water or drink. Cashier said alcohol is available at the bar, we sat there for 15 minutes and nobody came to ask if we wanted to order. Cashier seemed like she doesn't like her job. We did not feel welcome there at all. I should have taken that mood as a hint to leave. A business owner should never put someone that unhappy at the front of their business. 4) Seating Cheap & Uncomfortable: We gave up on the bar because the seats were uncomfortable steel with no cushions, and we moved to the bench seats at the tables which were also very uncomfortable. Again, if you are getting $5.99 fast food your expectations are low- but at $15 for a small bowl of Ramen that doesn't taste all that great, you hope at least the ambience is good. But it's not. 5) Only one bathroom, and it's not maintained: Ever been in a poorly maintained gas station bathroom in a bad neighborhood? Yes, this is the same. It was dirty and in poor condition, had graffiti, leaky sink with scalding hot water that was hard to adjust down to normal temperature. You'd think that with a line coming in to this place with $15 little plastic bowls could at least maintain their single bathroom. I'm a guy and didn't find it acceptable. I told my wife to just wait to use the bathroom, I can't imagine ladies using it. If I was the owner of this place I'd be embarrassed about that bathroom. 6) In Conclusion: Overall, again if you're paying super cheap prices maybe you would be willing to accept a lot, but I would recommend considering any other restaurant in the area first. Once upon a time, there was a wonderful gift/home decor store called "Magnolias" that existed on the Main Street Downtown Pedestrian Mall for almost 2 decades. The wife and I loved this place, especially around holiday time. Alas, a couple of years back, Magnolias joined the large list of businesses that didn't survive the COVID-19 pandemic. About a year and a half later, an interesting eatery called Saku Ramen opened up in Magnolias' old location. I admit when I saw the sign going up and heard about its opening...I was intrigued. Especially since it's a Ramen spot that's open 24/7!! Saku Ramen (which is a word pun on "Sakura Men"...or "Cherry Blossom Men") is owned by the same people who own Kaz in Grand Terrace and Redlands Ramen in Redlands. So my brother and I decided to give this spot a try at around 10:30 pm the other week. We wanted to visit before all the Festival of Lights madness kicks in. First I'll talk about the vibe. The setup of the spot is interesting. There are menus in the front as you walk in and you place your order there. You then go find a seat and wait for your name to be called just outside the kitchen where you pick up your food. The vibe is kind of night nightclub-meets-ramen shop with techno music playing in the background and interesting cat murals on the walls. There's a bar in the middle (o real hard alcohol though), and metal bench seats and tables throughout. A word about these seats. They are not very comfy at all. Cold, metal, and hard with no back support. The taller one by the window especially so. And now for the food. Both my brother and I had the Niku ramen. I ordered mine with the chicken cutlet, and my brother had the pork. Before I say more, I will say that the food was tasty! However, some things seemed a bit off. Firstly, the broth was a bit thin and anemic; and not very flavorful. We felt it should have been a bit more creamy in texture and savory in taste. Secondly, I found my chicken cutlet to be dry and not very well seasoned. This was rather disappointing, to say the least. The gyoza we ordered, however, was very delicious. The prices were decent, especially for the portions of food. However, just like Redlands Ramen, they nickel-and-dime you for extras (like adding an egg, etc). Thirdly, we need to talk about their restrooms. The night we visited they only had 1 in operation, and let me tell you, it needed some serious help. The walls were lined with graffiti, there was a noticeable crack in the base of the toilet and the cabinet holding up the sink looked like it was going to collapse at any minute. The business needs to work on fixing/cleaning things up a bit in there. Overall we mostly enjoyed our visit here, but as it is, it's no place we would go out of our way to visit again. Its location right in the middle of everything is a big draw, but they need to work on upping the quality of its food offerings and fixing its restrooms. Replacing the seating with something less back-destroying would be a help as well. This place has a LOT of potential, especially considering where they are located. I hope they take feedback seriously and work on these things. They really could be great. As it stands, however, Ramenkoko in Highland is still the gold standard. read more

Great first impression when greeted but the experience quicky went downhill when the lady at the register placed our order incorrectly and the only time they flip their screen over is when they ask for a tip. They do not provide a itemized receipt so you have no way of proving what was ordered or given a chance to correct it if items were missed.
