They offer a sake flight that is great! I really enjoy that. There are 4 different sakes on the flight. Kanpai!! I am loving their fresh tuna tower...one of the best I've had. The amazing spider rolls are delicious! For the non-sushi eaters there are cooked options as well! My friend orders the chicken teriyaki and she said it's delectable. It comes out on this sizzling platter and the mouthwatering aroma fills the air! Claire is a great waitress and is so professional and attentive. Gave this place another try for lunch hoping the first time was just an off day and it was. Service was good last time and was good again this time. Quick and friendly. The quality of everything seemed better this time. The soup had more flavor and the sushi tasted fresher. Last night we tried a new sushi spot with a friend. We were the only ones there, so the service was ok. We had to call the server twice to get our water refilled. We ordered tuna tataki, edamame, and four rolls, including their special, the Angry Wife. The tataki had good flavor and crispy garlic on top, but the tuna didn't taste very fresh. The edamame also felt like it had been reheated from The Angry Wife roll was extremely spicy almost too intense, even for my friend who loves spicy food. The other rolls were okay, Overall, it was just meh. Clean place, but would i go back? Probably not. read more

I can't quite do 5 stars because it's confusing to go to Tatsu one week and Sakura the next - but this is a definite add to your normal sushi rotation as everything is good quality, well executed and the place is clean. If I could do 4.5 stars I would. I'll let the pictures do a lot of the talking but I want to point out - Wagyu and Scallop. What?!? Incredible combination I didn't know I needed until today. Now I know. Yes, it's Texas Wagyu which is why it's more affordable than certified Japanese A5 but still very nice way to pair two things together I had Japanese Snapper and Salmon Belly sashimi, sea eel & fresh water eel sushi, sea bass sushi, a priceless roll, quail egg and the wagyu/scallop sushi. I really wanted to like this place based on all the reviews, but methinks Yelpers might be day drinking and reviewing or something because this DID NOT live up to the hype. Came on a Thursday at 12:10pm for lunch. Ordered water, jalapeno bomb to start and the kolbee bento box. Restaurant only had about three parties. Food came out quickly. My bento came with miso soup and salad. The miso soup was fine, nothing spectacular. The dressing on the salad was really good. Salad tasted fresh. That's where that ended though. The jalapeno bomb came immediately after my soup and salad. I wish the kitchen would learn to stagger the order, but whatever. It was completely devoid of any flavor. I kid you not - it's like nothing was seasoned at all. The spicy tuna wasn't spicy and tasted old, very fishy and the cream cheese tasted off. Even with the sauces there was just no flavor to it. I only ate one bite and then stopped. The bento box was more of the same. I get rice is bland, but this rice was beyond saving with wasabi and soy. The California roll portion tasted like store bought sushi, and not a good store. The fried gyoza and egg roll were just meh, as the sauce that accompanied it was overly sweet and not really what I'd hoped for. The kolbee (short ribs) were fatty and like eating jerky; I love this dish at a ton of places and here I was left wishing they would have marinated the meat and not cooked it as long. Pretty much felt like eating leather. Also again it wasn't seasoned, so that soy juicy flavor you want wasn't there. Christine was my waiter and she was excellent and the only reason this isn't a one star review. My water never suffered and she was quick to check on me. I won't be back. If you want to get sick go here. My son and his girlfriend ate there and one day later they were in the hospital vomiting their heads off. My attorney asked me to go with him one night I didn't go but he did. He spent 7 days in the hospital and almost died from eating at this awful restaurant. In the mood for Sushi, and reading through the 4.5 Star Yelp Reviews we chose Sakura. Basic Sushi bar atmosphere, not busy but inviting. Japanese Beer and Cocktail, we had to try the Grilled Salmon Kama (Collar) which was very tasty, served on a sizzling cast iron bed of onions and garlic w/sweet dipping sauce. We've eaten grilled Yellow Tail Collar before and almost always make it a part of our meal, but never tried the Salmon version, which wasn't as remarkable as the Yellow Tail. Jalapeño Bombs, Riceless Tuna and Avocado Tower, a California Roll and Tears in Heaven Roll rounded out our meal. Everything was tasty and typical, but the Tears in Heaven was missing the Tears (nothing Hot but a small dot of Sriracha and hair thin Jalapeño slice and the cooked salmon was not expected when I'm ordered Raw Sushi Rolls. First timer and definitely not the last! We drove by this place many times and finally got the chance to stop in and try it out. Surprisingly there was not a wait on a Saturday evening. They have a wide range of options, from sushi pieces to hibachi meals. We chose a few sushi pieces and 2 rolls (Candy and Geisha). The quality of the yellowtail sushi was good! Did not taste fishy at all! Both specialty rolls were good, the Geisha had shrimp tempura inside which could've been a little crispier. It was a little soggy, which didn't give the roll a crunchy texture that it should've. The candy roll was good with good quality tuna and white fish on top. I cannot tell you how happy we are to have found these folks. Understand: we are spoiled (and we know it). We lived in Seattle and we lived in NYC, and both provided us with excellent sushi. We genuinely despaired of finding good sushi here in north Texas, so far from the sea. GOOD NEWS: Sakura has satisfied us every time we've ordered. In all fairness, we've never eaten in; we discovered them after Covid had its way. That actually proves how good the place is. The Love Love Roll with spicy miso sauce is my all time favorite roll. It was so good I woke up the next day wondering if I could order another for lunch today. It's delicious plain but that sauce makes it indescribably good. I also ordered the combo rice which is better than most but was eclipsed by the yummy Love Love Roll. I can't stop talking about this roll. I ordered from Door Dash and everything was great. One suggestion is that for to-go orders, ask them to keep the cold sushi separate from any hot entrees so Sushi rolls aren't sitting on top of hot fried rice containers. Luckily delivery was super fast and everything tasted great. UPDATE: I asked for spicy fried rice. They shook some red pepper flakes on it but it wasn't spicy. For this I was up charged $1.50. We ordered a few rolls as well as beverages. I love that they have my absolute fave Meioimi pinot noir! Try the temptation roll if you like spicy. I also highly recommend the spicy California roll. The salmon and yellowtail were just alright. I think the real winners here are the rolls! They also had some pretty good soju. It is in a great area also with a lot of things to do before and after. The NY steak came with grilled vegetables (zucchini, onion, carrot, broccoli) that I thought had a great cook on them. The fried rice was lovely. Although not offering strictly Japanese food as you might find in an izakaya, the chefs are skilled at preparing "Japanese adjacent" dishes that few could argue are not truly delicious. The fusion of Korean ingredients and cooking methods result in outstanding dishes with unexpected and delightful flavors and textures. The sushi from the sushi bar is competently prepared in an authentic Japanese style. No issues there. Service was a bit below average. We were served sushi without wasabi or ginger and the server, when we were able to get her attention, reacted as though we had made an unusual request. This might be the result of a lack of experience more than negligence. Ambiance gets goods marks.
