With new management and renovation, this place looks spacious than how it looks outside. As you come in, you're greeted with smiles and staff that comes to serve you that can be quick to serve. Keep in mind it can get busy on the weekends, so be patient because it's worth the wait -- because it's a all-you-can-eat sushi buffet that's under $25 (it's $20.99!!!) I recommend you order a plate of LA Kalbi (yes, that's on the all-you-can-eat menu!) because they are marinated perfectly. Only requirement to get the LA Kalbi though is to order a maki roll. Which c'mon, you're ordering on the all-you-can-eat menu, you can add LA Kalbi on there. Ratings on the sushi, it's pretty good for a sushi buffet so I believe it is worth the price--especially that it's under $25. read more

Came back with a group of 7 for Saturday dinner. I'd give 4-4.5 stars. Service was slow, so get your orders in early! They forgot a few items and brought us things we didn't order, but overall, you can't beat the price. Food is good and worth the price. This was my first time here, came with my dad who's been here before. He doesn't like it as much as i do. personally, especially as a student, the price is good for AYCE. typically one or two rolls can be $15 already, so in that sense. i think it's worth it. i thought that the quality of the fish was good that day, knowing typically the fish quality tends to vary. there was no fishy smell. i think my only complaint and this is personal preference, is that there's too much rice in the rolls and sushi. but overall great restaurant, the service is great and they're attentive. read more

As I was searching for an alternative to rotery sushi, I thought of this place, seeing that they offered all you can eat, it was decently priced, so I brought my partner to this restaurant to fuel our craving for sushi. We walked in, it was larger than expected inside, clean, friendly staff, but not many customers, I wasn't concerned at that moment, we sat down and ordered. I ordered 3 salmon nigiri, 2 eel nigiri, and two rolls, a salmon and avocado roll, and a California crunch roll, I also ordered gyoza, chicken teriyaki, and the fried rice all of this from the all you can eat lunch menu. My partner ordered practically the same except with the addition of the Godzilla roll, and the Philadelphia roll. First to arrive were my salmon and eel nigiri, on first looks the salmon was cut in an odd manner where there were a lot of skin showing, not a good sign. I tried the salmon. It was slightly fishy and tough, the sushi rice was oddly sweeter than once's I've had before from other establishments, it was not good. The eel was next, smelled extremely fishy, a worse sign of bad quality, I tasted it and it wasn't great either. Next we're my rolls, it was going down hill from there, every piece tasted fishy and gross, they used some sort of different kind of spicy mayo with gochujang which was not a great idea, classic spicy mayo would have been preferred but it didn't add to the bad taste that the sushi had. Once we got our appetizers, the fried rice was absolutely inedible, there was such a heavy handed use of sesame oil and absolutely no other flavor but the over power of sesame, I couldn't eat it. The gyoza was decent but it was probably premade and bought in, and the chicken teriyaki wasn't something to cheer about after the horrible sushi I've had so far. Once we forced ourselves to finish the meal, my partner was coming to a close on his Godzilla roll, only to bite into a shrimp tail which ruined his meal and disgusted him because it was not a pleasant thing to eat. I will not return to the establishment, I highly recommend avoiding this restaurant all together due to the horrible sushi, there are many other places that make better quality sushi for around the same price. The food and the quality is definitely a five. But where they lose a star is this is not the place to go if you are in a hurry. You may wait for 20 minutes for a roll. They may forget your roll. They may forget that you ordered any sushi at all. But when the sushi does come it's amazing every time and that's what keeps me coming back. In short: there are better AYCE places for cheaper and the food is okay at best. COVID Procedures: I'll put this at the top since it's important for a lot of people. I didn't really see any hand sanitizing stations anywhere for customers unless I looked in the wrong places. They almost sat customers down on a dirty table that was empty for 15-20 minutes when it was slow. The waitress took my card and used the POS with her gloves on and then went around to other tables without changing them. Lots of kitchen staff had their mask on under their nose. Not a very positive experience. They may have been short staffed, but most of my review involves their practices which I found odd compared to practically every other AYCE sushi place I've been to which is a pretty wide variety.to Most places follow the same rules but this place sticks out and not in a good way. First, their AYCE is $19.99 for rolls ONLY which to me is crazy. Every other place I've been to does rolls and sushi for around the same price if not maybe a few dollars more. If you want to get sushi you pay $24.99 BUT, get this, if everyone else at your table is only doing AYCE rolls they won't let you order it. So if you want it you have to either convince your whole table to get sushi with you or you compromise by just getting rolls for yourself. I get that it's to avoid from parties ordering one sushi AYCE and everyone eating off that persons plate, but separating sushi and rolls as different AYCE options is silly to me. I understand food costs etc, but I feel like there's a better alternative here than turning away customers from getting what they want unless they force the whole table to spend more money. They have the typical leftover rules; if you leave any on your plate they charge you for it. They also charge you for any extra rice you have left on your plate which is new to me and honestly seems like another money grab since rice is cheap. Also you're limited to ordering three rolls at a time. Also really odd and never seen anything like that before either. It could be a COVID thing to limit waste, but if you're charging people left and right for any leftovers aren't you going to make that money back pretty quick? Service wasn't the best. When we were seated there were maybe 6 parties in the restaurant. They had 4 waitresses. We were offered water immediately which was nice, but then we were never served water until we asked them despite our waitress coming to our table at least 4 times over an hour and a half. I'd also recommend having a space for people to write their names on their order sheet. They would come out and fire off the names of the rolls on each plate and it's really hard to understand them because they are soft spoken and behind a mask. They would start to put them down and we'd have to figure out which was which and switch plates around to make sure we got the right orders. They asked us if we wanted any soy sauce, wasabi, or ginger. We said yes and never got any. We were all polite and said thank you whenever they'd come by and they would just walk away. I've worked in food for almost 10 years and manage a restaurant. I get if you're busy you'll forget things and service can slow down a bit, but how much time are you saving by being impolite? Food overall wasn't that great. Their crab puffs (rangoon) are really sweet. Rolls were just okay, the rice was weird and incredibly sticky. I know it needs to be sticky but it seemed like it was overworked. They looked good at least! Their rolls are a pretty good size though so that's a plus too. Their selection is pretty standard (spicy tuna, spider, tempura, etc). I most likely will never come back here. The food wasn't that good and the restrictions and pricing really turned me off from ever returning. There are better places around Chicago that do it better for cheaper and it feels more like ALL you can eat (Sushi Para and Sushi World are ones in the area that come to mind) To me it seems like they're trying to take advantage of their affluent demographic by overcharging and being the only place with AYCE in the area. read more

We went for the $20 all you can eat dinner, we ordered and did not get our entire order. I set a reservation for 7:30 and didn't get seated til 8:00 (no one even approached us while we were waiting I had to walk up to the hostess and yes there were 2 open tables) . My order was placed 35 minutes after we arrived because they forgot to put it in, and although they gave us 15% off, we realized the money we payed was not worth it. Very clean environment, it wasn't too busy for the lunch hour. I'm all about AYCE and their prices are pretty nice. I believe it is owned by a korean family with some japanese staff. They only give you 3 sheets to fill out and you have to fill it out all on one. (I guess thats how regular people do AYCE). I had to grab another sheet off a different table. The servers didn't tell us which rolls were on the plate so it was hard to keep track on what we got and did not get. Our server didn't even know what kind of rolls we had when I asked. Another server had to come up and tell us what it was. She also informed us that the chef team "didn't have" any more rolls listed for us even though we were waiting on 3 more rolls. The presentation for the food is very nice and organized though. I always forget that baked rolls take a while so there is a small wait. A lot of the lunch menu is baked rolls. The rice for the nigiri was falling apart but I guess thats how you know they're done by hand. The main chef came over and asked us how we were doing, very sweet man. After reading some great reviews on Sakura I was excited to try it for the first time and had it delivered. Upon delivery after opening my sushi it was all crammed into one container and the rolls weren't even rolled properly, they literally fell apart. As if this wasn't a bad enough first impressions, after looking closer at my rolls, they weren't even what I had ordered. When placing the order I asked for a side of spicy mayo, when I got my delivery there was a side of spicy mayo but literally enough for one piece of a roll and with a note in the side that next time I would be charged for the extra sauce. After spending $35 for terrible, not eatable sushi I wanted to call Sakura to let them know how disappointed I was in my meal. The lady I spoke with had an excuse and answer for everything. She had to take my phone number to look over my order. After looking over my order she called back to let me know, the she in fact could do nothing to help me or to refund me. I told her that during these crazy times I wanted to support local businesses, there are many struggling and as a grocery worker, I was just getting home and looking forward to trying new local food, it is so unfortunate to speak to someone who could honestly care less what I have to say read more

Came in on a Monday night and the restaurant was pretty empty. We went for the acye menu and ordered some nigiri, appetizers, sashimi, and rolls. You can only get sashimi if you order the rolls (1 roll for 3 sashimi). The fish wasn't that fresh but that was not the main reason I gave 2 stars. The rice was really sweet which took over all the flavor of the fish. I usually am able to order at least 3 rounds of sushi at sushi buffets but this time I was only able to order 2 small rounds because I really can't finish them with the sweet rice.
