Sweet staff! Perfect rice proportions. Ain't nothing I dislike more than too much rice in my sushi rolls.....anyways they do it perfect. Would be down to be a regular at this spot. Pretty quiet on a Sunday night.

had another fantastic dinner at Sakuraya Sushi, and I've got to say, it totally blew me away! From the moment I stepped inside, the warm atmosphere and welcoming staff made me feel right at home. The menu is packed with a fantastic variety of sushi options, and everything was super fresh! I kicked things off with the tuna tartare, which was perfectly seasoned and bursting with flavor. For my main course, I tried the chef's special roll, and wow, it was definitely one of the best sushi rolls I've ever enjoyed--creative ingredients and beautifully presented! The service was quick and attentive, just the right balance without being pushy, which really added to the relaxing vibe of the evening. Plus, I loved that the prices were reasonable, especially for the high quality of the food. If you're in the area and craving some sushi, do yourself a favor and check out Sakuraya!

Absolutely outstanding! The sushi here is fresh, beautifully presented, and has excellent flavor. Every roll was crafted with care, and the fish quality was top-notch. The staff were warm, attentive, and made the dining experience feel special. The atmosphere is inviting and perfect for both a casual night out and a celebratory dinner. One of the best local sushi spots I've been to, and I can't wait to come back!

One of my favorite sushi spots! This place has such a wonderful feel, it's small & quaint with wonderful service and quality sushi. Their salmon sashimi is incredible, and some of our favorite rolls are the Maui Roll & Sunset Roll. Highly recommend!

A great sushi spot if you are looking for good value and tasty food. I would say that this is your typical Japanese-American Sushi restaurant, with a variety of rolls, noodle dishes, fish entrees, other meats and more. The service was great and food came out quickly. We had a late lunch around 2PM on a Sunday and there were only about 4 other tables of people. Overall a safe choice for good sushi, large portions, etc. highly recommend to anyone looking for sushi.

Sakuraya is a staple for me and my family. Affordable, delicious, and fresh rolls every tim! Cozy indoor seating, consistent food, and never too long of a wait to get seated. They offer a happy hour menu, great lunch specials, and a miso soup & salad for each guest to start. We love Sakuraya!!

Yellowtail jalapeño roll & Maui roll! The onions on the Maui roll is really delicious and melt into your mouth. The presentation was awesome, this is one of our favorite spots to get some quick sushi. It has comfortable seating and booth inside located in a tiny market strip mall. The staff is very friendly and always welcoming.

After you finish the udon there's a fried rice ball that you then would put in the pot to eat with the rest of the broth. I didn't go the traditional route.. instead I broke a piece of the rice and was surprised with some melted cheese inside! And took my piece and dipped it in my broth and ate it. It was great! So crunchy and umami! I would come again just for that rice ball lol

Great things come to those who wait..." is very applicable here. It's first come first served, so unless you're at the door when it first opens, expect a wait to be seated. And after sitting down at a table, expect to wait some more before your food arrives. As long as you're ok with waiting, the reward is, IMHO, the best soba noodle soup around. My go to is the different variations of the soba noodle soap. From the broth, to the soba to the tempura and proteins, it's a fantastic symphony of flavors. For those of us who prefer, the cold soba and the curry noodles are also excellent. An exceptional Japanese restaurant, for those who are not in a rush

Second visit, and probably the last…read more Our first visit about a year ago was excellent -- good enough that I was happy to return expecting a repeat. This time we left without much desire to come back, and for me it comes down to one thing: how the food tasted. The amuse bouche was an inauspicious start -- small bits of a cooked protein (chicken?) in a standard Japanese onion vinaigrette. The protein was unidentifiable, I didn't finish it, and I'm not sure how it's supposed to set the table for a sushi dinner. Ohshima's strength is supposed to be nigirizushi: small rice, generous fish, with a carefully chosen condiment and/or tare to enhance each piece. That formula worked on the pieces that got tare -- akami and masu were the standouts of the evening. But on the remaining pieces, the itamae misted the fish with what he described as yuzu after construction. Yuzu has a distinct floral-citrus character that's hard to miss; what came through instead was a watery taste that muted the fish's natural flavor. Toro, which should have been a highlight, suffered the most from this. Water is the enemy of flavor, and whatever was in that spray bottle undermined the whole point of the condiment approach. Three of the thirteen pieces were closely related jacks -- hiramase, kampachi, and shima aji -- which bordered on redundant given how similar they are in flavor profile. The gindara was torched aggressively enough to leave a residual propane taste. At $260 for two before tip (including two large Sapporo), I'd also note that the diner's-choice extra piece offered on our first visit wasn't available this time -- a quiet downgrade, though I understand the economics. The technical execution was competent. Nothing was bad in an obvious way. But the watery flavor issue was consistent and consequential enough to make this a shadow of what it was.

3.5/5 Stars - Nice Experience, But Some Service and Timing Issues…read more We visited Tabi-Ji Teppanyaki for my husband's birthday and had an overall decent experience, though there were a few things that would make us think twice before returning. We chose the dining room seating rather than the teppanyaki tables. The staff did offer us the teppanyaki experience, but since we don't eat red meat or chicken from certain places and weren't sure how the food preparation process worked with mixed ingredients, we opted for a regular table instead. One downside was the seating arrangement. We were seated away from most of the other guests, and it often felt like the staff forgot we were there. Our original host/server was attentive and friendly, but once they were busy with other tasks, it became difficult to get assistance. It was also not busy for a Tuesday evening. We found ourselves waiting for long periods or having to wave someone down, which wasn't ideal, especially for a birthday dinner. As for the food: * Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll (4/5): Fresh, good quality fish, and a generous portion. A solid sushi roll. * Garlic Edamame (4/5): Flavorful and exactly what you'd expect from a good appetizer. * Lobster Duo with Miso Soup, Salad, and Fried Rice (3/5): Unfortunately, the lobster was quite chewy and seemed overcooked. The miso soup and fried rice were both enjoyable and helped make up for it. * Unagi Donburi (4/5): My husband's meal came with white rice, miso soup, salad, and fried rice. It was his first time trying eel, and he really enjoyed the soft texture and flavor. He said he'd definitely order it again. Our biggest disappointment was the timing of the food. The Unagi Donburi arrived significantly later than everything else. By the time it came out, we had already eaten most of the appetizers and other dishes and were pretty full. It's unfortunate because it seemed like a dish that would have been much better enjoyed fresh, but we ended up taking most of it home. Overall, the food ranged from good to very good, and being able to reserve through Resy and use our Amex dining benefit definitely helped offset the cost. However, considering the price point, we expected more attentive service and better pacing of the meal.
