Very tasty cheese quesadilla.
Alden C.

Sal Y Limon was a perfect stop for me after grabbing a couple of beers at a nearby brewery while waiting for a concert to start at the nearby Climate Pledge Arena. I decided to get the chips and salsa which actually involved three salsas and a basket of chips. One was sort of a Pico De Gallo, a green sauce and a red sauce with a generous portion of chips. I also ordered a cheese quesadilla and once I saw how big the chips and salsa portion was I was concerned if I could handle the quesadilla. But in the end that was not anything to be concerned about. The quesadilla was of modest size, tapas sized even and I ate everything that I ordered without too much problem at all. The food and service was great. The salsas tasted fresh and the quesadilla was quite good. Service was prompt, friendly and accommodating. A very pleasurable dining experience!

Excellent Mexican to pre-game for the Kraken Coworkers recommended Sal y Limon as a top option before our visit to the Kraken. Glad they did as we enjoyed it. Place was bustling, yet the hostess was super nice and found us a table in 10 minutes. Finding parking took a lot longer. :) Once we sat down, the wait staff got to us quickly with drinks, introducing the menu, and taking orders. Can recommend the Ceviche Verde, Chips Frescos, Pollo Asado (excellent, especially on a cold and rainy day), Pollo Con Rajas, and Street Tacos. Not a plate was left empty, so we all clearly enjoyed things. Attentive crew and didn't hurry us at all. Fun space and clean. Plus, only two blocks from Climate Pledge Arena and the Alaska Airlines Entrance, so we were quickly in and at our seats after. Boom!

The food was amazing. My flatus were the best I have ever had. Very clean. The staff was very friendly & efficient. Will most definitely coming back if we come back to Seattle.

Enchiladas Del Mar

I went here for dinner with a friend and was greeted with a complimentary vegetarian sopes. It was so tasty and so much better than your run of the mill chips and salsa. They have an extensive collection of margaritas to choose from, but I opted for a Pacifico instead. I ordered the enchiladas Del Mar and it was so yummy. To my surprise, there was a copious amount of seafood. It had scallops, shrimp, and crab meat. The seafood was tossed in a dreamy chipotle sauce and topped with green salsa. I was super satisfied with my meal and the portions were large enough to provide me with a second meal for the next day. The location is a little out of the way for me and parking may be difficult since it's walking distance climate pledge, but if I was in the area for an event I'd definitely come here for lunch/dinner.

What a find! We were looking around for a Mexican restaurant for lunch and happened upon this one. It had good reviews so we thought we would check it out. From the outside it looks more like a bar, which definitely is to some extent. We seated upstairs and the dining room was really nice. They even had a large private dining room for big parties. The place was immaculate. We had several items, and all were excellent. We were impressed by the number of vegetarian entrées. We had the huevos rancheros, chile relleno, several enchiladas and a tostada for the little one. Everything was wonderful! The service was amazing. Highly recommend!

For Valentine's Day, my partner and I had dinner at Sal Y Limón in Seattle. The vibe was very lively and energetic, and instead of the usual free chips, they offered free tostadas - a nice touch! We started with the Verde Ceviche, a fresh, zesty mix of shrimp, lime juice, jalapeños, and tomatillos. For mains, we had the El Enchiladas Del Mar, packed with scallops, shrimp, red meat, and a creamy chipotle salsa, plus Chicken Tacos, which were simple but tasty. The Chile Lime and Bartender's Special Margaritas were refreshing and well-balanced. The service was excellent as well. Our server was attentive and very friendly. Overall, Sal Y Limón has great food, a fun atmosphere, and is definitely worth a visit!

Pozole Rojo O Verde

I got the pozole Rojo. The flavor was very good, lots of meat, and crispy tortillas. I love that there is a Mexican restaurant near me that serves pozole, menudo and albonigas. I'll be coming here whenever I get a craving. The staff was very friendly. They also give you a little tostada as an appetizer.

Rude manager, got upset with me because I sent back some food and a drink. He told me to read the ingredients better next time. There won't be a next time. It's too bad, because I usually go every time I visit Seattle. Time to find a new spot.

guidos de cerdos
Aureli R.

Some of the best mexican food I've ever had and I'm from Los Angeles! The guidos de cerdo (sorry for spelling) was amazing, it reminded me of gormeh sabzi which i love. Their spiked horchata with kalhua was delicious and not at all gritty like some horchata can be. The service was awesome and friendly, and in general the vibes were just superb!

Carolina C.

Fortunately, we were seated immediately! The drinks were pretty good, I don't order anything fancy.... They serve you a bean tostada, which is a really nice touch! Our appetizer and food were good too! Not the best presentation but it tasted good! The tables are really close to each other, so be ready to make new friends! If you're in the Bell Town area this is a good place to try!

Huevos rancheros
AvoCado T.

Stopped in for a quick lunch and was seriously impressed! I had the huevos rancheros and it was packed with flavor--perfectly cooked eggs, bold salsa, and fresh tortillas. The space is clean, service was friendly, and the vibe is casual but welcoming. Great spot for a laid-back meal in the area. Would absolutely come back to try more of the menu!

Burrito MI Tierra
Matthew Z.

The service was average, nothing bad but nothing spectacular. The atmosphere was serviceable in general, but there is a very specific table on the upper floor that has an amazing view of the space needle. However, in terms of purely food taste, this is likely the best Mexican restaurant in Seattle. I will definitely be ordering the carne asada entrada in the future. The skirt steak was flavored perfectly and had a sort of tenderness that is very rare for how tough that cut of beef typically is. The guacamole was well seasoned and the cactus salad made me positively revisit my entire viewpoint on cactus. My only complaint is that I wish there was more.

Great and super authentic restaurant with huge range of margaritas/entrees and a lovely happy hour! Staff was very kind and food was amazing!

Sal Y Limon Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Sal Y Limon

Are kids allowed in Sal Y Limon?

Upstairs, yes! Downstairs is part of the bar area.

What comes on your fish tacos por favor?

Our fish tacos are made with a tilapia, some cabbage and veggies, and our homemade green tomatillo salsa.

Is there happy hour?

Yes, every day from 3-6PM and 9PM-Close. We hope to see you in!

To follow up on the gluten question, are the non-gluten menu items so gluten-free that they're safe for someone with celiac or a violent wheat allergy? Or just for mild gluten allergies, gluten intolerance, or anti-gluten fad diets?

Most everything that is gluten-free on our menu is safe enough for someone with celiac disease or something similar. However, there is plenty of chances for contamination in a kitchen, so as a preventative measure it is best to let your waiter know…

Hello, I see you have some vegetarian dishes on the menu, can these be made vegan? Vegan cheese? Are rice and beans vegan? Thank you!

Just about everything on our menu can be made vegan! Unfortunately our cheese is not vegan, but we will explore looking in to bringing in vegan cheese in the future.…

A gluten question, other than flour tortillas, is your menu generally gluten free (as Mexican cuisine tends to be)?

Correct. The vast majority of our menu tends to be gluten free, and most everything can be made to be gluten free. If you have any questions while there, your waiter will be able to help you pick some thing out when deciding.

What time(s) is/are their happy hour(s)?

Our happy hour is from 3-6PM and 9-Close, everyday. Thank you!

Time without number I've found myself here, be that first dates, my birthday, or New Year's Eve, and it always feels like home. If home were a clown/carnival themed acid trip of a pinball arcade bar, that is. And what's not to love about that? The bar tenders here are cool and friendly people who pour drinks with a heavy hand, and understand the mission: get the patrons who want to be drunk, drunk. The first few times I visited, I felt a leeriness about ordering food. But once I got over myself, I kinda fell in love with the menu, and I've probably eaten everything on it (including the clam chowder). Their hot dogs are wonders to behold, utter symphonies for the senses, and I refuse to visit Shorty's without getting one. Best dog in Seattle? Why yes. I think so. To paraphrase one reviewer: "Take your date here. If she doesn't like it, she's lame and you shouldn't waste your time with her anyways." Shorty's is the bomb.

That's not something paying customers want to hear. I ended up ordering a drink for myself while the guys were looking at the menu because they were doing a food hop, and us girls were doing a bar hop. During that time, the bartender came back to our table at least four times within about five minutes. Instead of being attentive, it felt pushy and aggressive, especially since they were still deciding what they wanted. I've been here a few times before, but after this experience, this will definitely be my last visit.

There is a caveat though, which is that they only have select items in the AYCE menu. The ambiance of the place was inviting enough for us to give them a try! There is a 90 minute window for AYCE, and you can order a maximum of 3 items per person every 15 minutes. All orders have to be made from an app on your phone so make sure you have a fully charged device! When we logged in the app, it was confusing to manage at first so we worked with the server to put our orders in. She had to put in our orders for us a couple of times and then we figured out how to work the system after that. To do the math for those reading the review and maximize the number of items you can order with the 90 minute window, you can potentially order up to 18 sets of skewers per person. Each set of skewer has two sticks. My hubby and I missed a few items from our order but we were getting full after my 10th skewer and his 15th skewer so it did not matter too much! The AYCE menu also has options to order zaru soba, corn cheese, and takoyaki! Presentation is great but I wish the flavor matched the visuals. The standout skewers for us were the boruta pork and the wagyu beef tongue. I was really hoping that the yakitori would be crispier and had more of a smokey flavor but I really can't complain too much for the price point. The food is solid but not like a wow, I have to come back here again! We only saw one server for the busiest part of the night, serving 8 tables all at once. She made sure that our glasses were never empty and she treated us warmly. Wile the decor and the general atmosphere are pleasant, the quality of the food would not merit another visit for me.

Located on Second Avenue in Belltown, Bangrak Market is named after the most famous market in Bangkok, where we had our first dinner in Seattle. The reservation was easily made via their website. Upon arrival, it was pretty busy and felt like a market when one stepped inside thanks to the colorful streamers and decor. The decorations were so unique, especially the baskets used throughout the space, and the whole vibe instantly transports one to Thailand without actually being there. It has such an energetic and party-like vibe. The music felt like one's in a bar, and the atmosphere was super fun. My partner, his family, our friends, and I managed to get a big table for a party of 14. With so many menu options, one can order with confidence. For starters, some ordered the Fresh Garden Rolls (Tofu), Chicken Satay, and Kao Mun Gai. As the main meal, we ordered Tom Yum Nam Sai (Chicken), Pad Thai, Pad See Eww, Kao Pad, Kao Pad Supparos, and Gang Kari. The food was amazing, full of flavor, and authentic. Andrew (our server) introduced us to his sidekick, who was in training. Love that personal, hands on approach for a mew team member, and Sidekick did a great job in monitoring our table and replenishing water. Have to stop here and express my appreciation for Andrew and how he took the time to explain the philosophy and genuine team vibe of the restaurant. Oftentimes when a restaurant adds a flat 20% gratuity, you get the feeling this is not passed on to the servers. Not so here. He explained that it's shared among the servers, bar, and other staff, with only a bit retained by management, but even that finds its way into their wages. Terrific work environment and happy to see it. It definitely shows in the level of service. But we're here to eat. Didn't take a picture, but one of my dining companions ordered the burrito with red chili sauce and it was very good. Just the right amount of heat in the sauce. The Cantina celebrates Taco Tuesday, so I took advantage of this. You get the opportunity to try 5 different street tacos for the low price of $15. For another $4 you order it fully loaded which is a steal (guac, pickled onions, lettuce, giardano, crema, and another lovely sauce). Each of the tacos were really delicious and packed full of flavor. I especially enjoyed the cauliflower and the beef. Was surprised how much I liked the popcorn chicken - still juicy and not greasy in the least. Andrew treated us to a round of the hatch green chili. I was delighted because it was a dish I wanted to try. He described it perfectly: a little kick, but you can't stop eating it. He was right. A bowl of this in the winter with their cornbread (which I'm confident will be delicious) will preempt a winter cold. The sauces on the table are not to be ignored either. The green chili sauce was fruity with a little heat, the scorpion chili brings the heat, but their homemade chili oil is phenomenal. I could put this on everything. In short, the Cantina delivers. Excellent food, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and fun staff, and a cool vibe. I'll bet the cocktails will also be good. Definitely adding to the regular rotation!
