Blink, and you'll miss the storefront, but they're conveniently located near the intersection of Belmont and Broadway. I've eaten here for almost five years, and the quality of their salad ingredients is always consistently good every time I visit. The greens you can select (Romaine, Mesculum Mix, Baby Spinach or Green Leaf) are fresh and tasty. Salad House isn't your usual peas, carrots and cucumbers salad bar, though they have them if you want. If you want something more adventurous, try capers, candied pecans, heart of palms or any of the other 60+ ingredients. They also offer wraps and baked potatoes (never tried them), but the sign says SALAD. Enjoy what they do best. read more

I definitely love that we have a salad place here in Lakeview. I don't always try to eat super healthy, like I should. But Salad House encourages me to do better, and they make it really easy. I too have walked past this "hole in the wall" restaurant many times but never stopped until recently. Upon entering, the restaurant is bright, airy and hip feeling. First, you pick from the cooler what kind of salad greens you would like. From there, you have a choice of one of the signature salads or you can create your own salads. There plenty of veggies, meats, cheeses and salad dressings to choice from. You will also receive a roll. If you dine in, your fountain drink is included. So far, I'm enjoying creating my own salads. The store front restaurant has limited seating. Best tables, if available , are the tables in front of the windows. Great place to watch the foot traffic on Broadway Street. I've noticed, a lot of people take their salads as carry out. For less than $9.00, you really get a well portion healthy meal. You will not leave hungry. Salad house is right around the corner from me and I have been there plenty of times. The couple that owns it is so nice and cares about giving you a fresh salad that you'll enjoy. The best part is that you can add as many toppings as you would like for no extra charge. Avocado and egg are extra- but totally worth it. The southwestern salad is pretty good. I like the cilantro lime dressing. It costs $9. I also thought their flan was decent. My only complaint is the wraps, for $7.75 it needs more fillings. Their salads are big, and you can make a full meal of them. My personal favorite is the Santa fe, and you can choose your leafy base. It's topped with tender grilled chicken, tomatoes, corn, black beans, tortilla chips, cheese, fresh avocado, and comes with a lime-cilantro vinaigrette. The dressing has a zesty kick to it, so if that's not your style, you can always swap for any other of their homemade dressings - all of which are tasty. My other favorite is their creamy chipotle ranch. Whether you're getting it to go, or ordering delivery, the quality and consistency remains the same. Which is super important and speaks volumes. At the standard rate, each order gets 5 basic toppings + 2 specialty toppings + 1 cheese + 1 meat + dressing. All of that for under $10 after tax! You can't beat the price or the variety of toppings. When the negative review are all focused on the crowds or the prices, that's a good sign, right? (Ok, a few were focused on the service, but I went for lunch on a weekday and it was fine.). More importantly, they serve remarkably plausible salads, full of fresh vegetables. The toppings are more in the "deli counter" category than the "California" category (think chopped carrots and celery, but also sliced radishes, red onions, peppers, etc.) and they have a heavy hand on the dressing. I don't give our five stars easily. My first experience with Salad House was today (11/11/17). My spouse and I ordered it through UberEats, because we wanted something on the healthier side. Before ordering, I called them to ask if their Butternut Squash Apple soup had dairy - as I'm lactose intolerant. They told me no, so I proceeded to order it along with some wraps. My UberEats driver had picked up the food and was on his way to my house when I got a call from the restaurant. They called me back to tell me that yes, there was dairy in the soup. They wanted to exchange it for something else, so I agreed to chicken noodle. They called the UberEats driver, but he was basically at my house at that point. So they called me to let me know they were sending their own driver to bring me the new soup (even though I told them not to worry about it). Most places don't go that far above and beyond to correct something. My kudos to them. As far as the food goes, we had the Blackened Chicken Wrap, the Buffalo Caesar Wrap, the Chicken Noodle Soup, and the Veggie Chili. All of it was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed the Caesar dressing especially. You could tell the wrap was made fresh because the tortilla strips in my wrap were still crunchy. And the Chicken Noodle Soup was bursting with flavor. I ordered via Grubhub. I used to work down the street and really liked Salad House a few years ago but after today, I won't be ordering ever again. My salad arrived on time, but that was it in terms of positives. The portions of veggies was incredibly small for a $15 salad, there was no chicken, the romaine was limp, the tomatoes were mushy, they sent the wrong soda. What little I ate left my stomach feeling pretty gross, and the salad went straight in the trash which is an even bigger bummer because wasting food is the worst. When I tried to deal with Grubhub, the restaurant called me repeatedly and fought Grubhub on refund, insisting they would redeliver but I didn't want another salad. It's the only place in the area where you can build your own salad. I always had a positive experience until my last visit. They now limit the number of ingredients you can add to your $9 salad.
