Even though they aren't the closest to me, I prefer to shop here because they have consistently had everything I needed in a trip. I had one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever encountered at Sally's in Pleasant Hill. I placed a small order of just five items and picked it up in-store. I didn't check the bag before leaving because I assumed everything would be there--huge mistake. I got almost home, 30 minutes away, only to realize HALF of my order was missing. I called the store immediately to explain what happened and asked if they could either refund the missing items or cancel them since going all the way back wasn't feasible. Instead of trying to help or offer any solution, the manager basically accused me of lying. She claimed their count was "on point" and that her associate remembered putting everything in the bag. Really? Why would I go out of my way to call and complain about something I already received? As I'm trying to get help, clearly frustrated but NOT yelling, the manager cuts me off and says she'd be "better help" if I wasn't being rude. Then, she continues to accuse me of lying and tells me to "come get my sh*t." I couldn't believe what I was hearing--this is how a manager speaks to customers? The staff is clearly incompetent and the management even worse. No professionalism, no accountability, and no basic customer service skills. I'm honestly baffled. I will never be shopping at this location again and this manager needs to find a new profession. read more

Worst customer service experience ever! We walked in just 15 minutes after buying hair products, simply trying to return it--no big deal, right? Well, apparently, it was too much work for the employees at this store. They did not give us a receipt, and instead of being understanding or even slightly helpful, they flat-out refused to give us our money back. Instead, they shoved a gift card at us, even after we told them we don't even shop here! The worst part? The absolute attitude from Mila (purple hair). She acted like we were the biggest inconvenience of her life, rolling her eyes, sighing, and making it painfully obvious that she had no interest in doing her job. It was like asking her to help was personally offending her. The laziness and rudeness were unbelievable. BUT--shoutout to Miranda! She was the only person who actually showed an ounce of customer service and tried to help us. If it weren't for her, this place would be a complete disaster. This store should hire more people like Miranda, she was the sweetest and very understanding. Moral of the story? My friend and I bought hair dye then went to return about 15 minutes later because we had cold feet and were not convinced with the color. My return was easy since I made an account however the employees, Mila specifically, (the one with the purple hair) made it really difficult for my friend since they didn't give her a receipt. She was rude and gave us attitude and did not want to help find a solution. She was lazy and snotty. She told us they couldn't see previous orders and if we don't want our receipt then they usually throw it away. THEY offered to check the trash for it then we said "yes please" and Mila proceeded to say, " well she could dig her hand in there if she wants, that's nasty." Then walked away before we could even respond. They were the ones who offered to look! Thank you to Miranda who was very sweet and offered several solutions for us. I was attempting to make an exchange for a more expensive item and th store manager lied to the customer service phone operator. She stated that the product was used, it was not even opened prior to coming in to return it! The store worker opened it, and the store manager said that it was used. AND do not try calling their customer service, they will not help you. I've been dealing with this for over 2 weeks. There's no help. Customer service has no "supervisor available". Sally's has really good products. The prices on some things are a little high but the quality is great so can't complain too much. The salespeople are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. The store location is great! The store is clean and organized. My only complaint really is the price but they also have some good sales so it makes it worth it. read more

I always think about purchasing items online, but I never think about purchasing them in-store! After searching for a specific beauty product online, and finding prices that were high and quality that was low, I suddenly remembered that there is a Sally Beauty Supply located in Pleasant Hill with nice quality products. I looked up their number and gave them a call. A female employee answered the phone and told me that they had the item in the brand that I needed -- and she quoted me a price for the item that was cheaper than what I had found online! But that they only one item left in stock! When I asked her to hold the item under my name at the register until I got there, she took my name and told me that it would be waiting for me when I arrived. Fast forward 10 minutes later, I parked right in front of the store in Crescent Plaza, walked in and saw the register immediately to the right of the entrance. I was greeted by the same employee who had answered the phone. She smiled, rang me up, and handed me my purchase. 10 minutes later, I was back home. I finally found a reason to pop into Sally's! I was hoping to score some snazzy rhinestone style nail gems, and perhaps a thin bristle brush, to step up my home manicure game. Unfortunately I left empty handed - while they sell nail gems, even though I wanted a simple clear rhinestone style, the options were either way too colorful, too small or too cheap and flimsy. And the nail brushes that were adequately thin for sale were sold as parts of manicure kits, were also quite cheap in quality. But I admittedly was being fussy, and I was happy to have a reason to venture in and explore. Though the name is beauty supply, overall they cater overwhelmingly to hair. I understand being low on stock on something but I have gone here for about 6 months straight whenever I pass by to see if they have stocked their Gelish nail polish display. Clearly there is no intent to restock...Just as empty as ever. And what is on the shelves is is seriously old. Even faded bottles from sitting on the shelves. Shame on them for even trying to sell old product. Quite frankly it is robbery. I LOVE this location. This review has been a long time coming, and is published after several wonderful experiences. The ladies here have given me great advice on color for all of my at-home-dying projects. They are also honest, and they don't just try to upsell. They have had good knowledge on a variety of products. My most recent great experience was last week, when I tried a new purple conditioner product. After taking it home, I was repulsed by the smell, and after having a friend smell it, realized it was a personal problem. Very disappointed with this company. They did away with plastic bags which is commendable but decided to charge their customers fifteen cents for a paper bag!!! The employee who was there announced that RI was now GREEN and every store was now using paper bags. I informed her she was incorrect. Only some parts of RI were using paper bags and they were not charging their customers for paper bags. She then continued to argue with me. She was not a regular employee in this store and continued to be very rude. She was a Hispanic woman with glasses who obviously needed additional training with customer service. I have been shopping at the Johnston store for many years. The women who work there are always pleasant. This particular one was an exception. I bought this product, March 2020. This product is no good, it made my hair fall out. It damaged my hair excessively, with lots of shedding, irritated scalp. The product totally messed up my curly wavy, beautiful natural hair. I am almost 57 year's old and I have never ever in my life had a product this defective. I normally use Elgin Charles, Creme of Nature and Main and Tail herbal  shampoo etc. I will  never look at YOU TUBE video's again, because they were very wrong about Kenya Moore Product's. I have been trying to get a refund, for two month's but the company doesn't call you back. I have made excessive call's and emails, but haven't been successful at all. One of the items of bleach I got was totally broken and unusable. The other item I seemed like it was already opened and had no seal on it what so ever. I still have 8 items supposedly coming. They charged me multiple times. I read in their shipping it stated will charge when shipped. False. I've been charged multiple times with different prices.
