Not sure how I feel about this place. They put alot of effort to make you feel comfortable, that's nice, but I felt it was overpriced for what I got done. I don't really feel my stylist did much of a transformation at all, even though I had definitely said to her various times I wanted a significant change. I ended up paying 300 for the most minimal amount of color on my hair. I was nice about it because I didn't want to deal with the confrontation of questioning her, also thinking over time it would lighten up. No change. Not sure if I will go here again. I would first like to say that I am giving this a 5 star review because of many things this company has done with excellence. This was my first time at the salon and I saw Miranda. I let her know what I wanted and we must have miscommunicated because it wasn't what I was looking for. It is what happened after this that sets this salon apart from any salon I have ever been to, and I have been to a lot. My husband expressed my frustration to the manager Alberto he immediately spoke to the owner and got in contact with me expressing his apologies and how he would like to fix this. I was very impressed with his customer service. There are many salons that do not care but this salon is not one of them. Soon as arrived for the follow up appointment the owner David was very friendly very informative and explained things extremely well. David took the time and made sure my hair was right. That meant the world to me. He understood my vision and asked if Miranda could help. I agreed and they gave me exactly what I was looking for. Best place ever! I had a mental breakdown when I had my hair done at a salon in the rim on 4/24/15 , and had an appointment with loressa the next day to fix the damage. The lady managing the front desk was very friendly, and reassured me that I would be taken care of. I had shown loressa the picture with the color I wanted and she went straight to work. I honestly can't thank her enough for what she's done, because the last place was a joke. So in 24 hrs I had my hair colored twice and I'm glad salon David was able to correct it. Second time I leave this place and burst to tears in my car. I went against my gut and gave them a second chance because my stylist was unavailable and it was the worst thing ever. The colorist treated me so badly literally pulling my hair and hitting me until I had to tell her she was hitting me. I wanted highlights and a balayage and I came out with just one shade of brown hair and its not at all what I wanted. She was done in ONE HOUR! Like how?!?!!! Its never ever taken me less than 3:30 -4 hrs for what i ask for in any other place. I hate confrontation and she was so rude that I was honestly scared to say anything. She doesnt cut hair so a man did it and I told him to do a nice style on me since i had plans (and the receptionist confirmed that the cut which costs $110 dlls includes styling) and my hair looks like i just woke up . Total hot mess. Even my husband said to me "I thought they were going to make it nice?" and that just made me cry again. Im so so sad and out of $400 . And the worst part is that this isnt even the worst story about them. The only girl that knows what she is doing in that whole place is Kayla. I love this place, I always wanted to get highlights but I didn't know what will look good on me. I decided to schedule with Salon David Escape Spa because they had the best reviews. When coming to the salon they right away ask you if you want something to drink, coffee, water, wine and so on, definitely made me feel special. My stylist was Maya Mukbel and she is the greatest definitely recommend her. She ask me my hair routine and recommend me a style of highlights. Just relocated to San Antonio a few months ago. I planned to take my time to locate a stylist as I'm picky. I was forced to ask a stranger for a referral because my hair suddenly started falling out. I was referred to Patricia at Salon David. I called for an emergency appointment as I was losing hair by the handful daily. My phone call was handled professionally (I was near tears) and I was put on the books for a few days later. An appointment opened up later on the same day and they called me to come in. 1st hats off to Patricia. She look at this mess on my head and said not to worry she'd take care of it. I was skeptical about an upscale salon working with damaged African American hair. Patricia put that fear to rest. She put me right at ease and did her thing. I left with a cut that even my husband loved (he actually noticed when I got home). I'm sold and look forward to Patricia work on this head. I came in for a color today with Logan, I probably would have never found this gem had he not moved to this location. I love it! Plenty of parking, friendly staff, free drinks (hellooooo mimosas), great service.. the salon is very well kept I don't even think I saw a spec of hair on the floor. I was recommended to get with Kayla and she did not disappoint! Not only was she super attentive and careful with my hair (considering I had to completely bleach it for the color I wanted) but she also made me feel so comfortable! As the name implies, I was greeted sincerely as I walked through the door, given a choice of beverages, and since I was a bit early, I was seated only a few minutes before being greeted by Melanie, my stylist. Being able to don a robe and have a serene wash & massage in a dimly lit area that was comfortable and quiet. The colors in this spa are calming; robin egg blue, sand, burnt umber - brushed nickel, stainless steel - just beautiful! The interior of the salon is spotless. A selection of products are displayed in the waiting room, with a very discrete few displayed in the styling section. There are no tools, towels, jars to clutter the counters. The clean appearance creates a calming feeling. Melanie listened to what I wanted and asked questions to make sure she understood the style I was going for. Overhead lighting is kept to a minimum. The raised ceiling gives an industrial look, and with the sand tones and brushed nickel the lighting is not overbearing. Each station has lovely dark wood tones with brushed nickel sconces on each side of the framed mirrors to give a clean homey feel. Melanie was polite, professional and precise! She was able to give me the long, layered look I was hoping for. She used her skills to texturize my hair and give movement with the cut. I am extremely happy I made this investment! I will be making an appointment for a facial and a massage next. Even my husband would enjoy going in for services, as they welcome men clients there too. The manner in which I was treated gives value to the investment. It was worth every penny, and then some! read more

What a treat it was to visit this salon! I booked an appointment simply because I was looking for a change and have seen the salon from 1604 in my way to visit my father-in-law at his assisted living facility. I did peek at the Yelp reviews prior to booking and it appeared that many satisfied customers took time to write. That's always a good sign. There was some construction going on in the business and it was not completed on Monday as anticipated! They offered to reschedule me, but since I'm from out of town, we kept the original appointment on Tuesday morning. The construction wasn't a bother...I was just glad to be there! David gave me a wonderful consultation and was assisted by Maya. Maya did my highlights and David did the cut/style. I loved the spa-like atmosphere (even WITH construction!), the massaging shampoo, the warm towels....and the lovely style I walked out with!!! I will definitely return. I have been going to Salon David for over 2 years and I absolutely love it. I started just going for the Brazilian wax and occasional facial. Then I moved over to the hair side. I am Black and have very curly hair that was about ear length when I started going. My hair is now to the middle of my back and people always ask me if its fake because it looks soo great! Ronnie is the best! She blow drys it with a roller brush and does not use a flat iron, so my hair is able to maintain some volume and the upkeep is so easy! I never have to wait, she is very sweet and keeps my hair looking great! It stays curled for about 2 weeks. All I have to do is gently wrap it at night, take off the scarf in the morning, finger comb it and go! read more

So let me start by saying that I have been in the the salon three times and I've had varying experiences. The first time I went in I brought pictures of what I wanted and really talked to the stylist. I was very specific that I wanted balayage and I ended up with some insane, very bright blonde streaks in my brown hair (so very 2001). I'm not much into confrontation so I paid and tipped but left unhappy. I eventually called and they did fix it for free but 1. Fixing a mess up limits what can actually be done so you don't really get what you wanted still, 2. Just more damage done to your hair, and 3. I'm a mom with no consistent child care so it's a pain to go back. I went back again and again I specifically said I wanted balayage and hated the little thin streaks. She did traditional highlights again (although this time they were closer to my natural color so not so awful). What really made me mad was that I paid for balayage but when she was done she said "oh we didn't do balayage so it went faster then our scheduled time so you're going to need to wait for your eyebrow appointment" If my stylist said she didn't do balayage then why did I pay more for it? Also, I paid $80 for what amounted to a trim and I still had to cut a long piece that she missed in the front. Again, I hate confrontation so I just paid, tipped and left. I don't mind paying for great hair but when I pay that much I actually expect to get something slightly resembling what I wanted. And if you don't think that's possible or you don't have the skill set then tell me! However, the lady who did my eyebrows did an amazing job! read more

Having decided to cut some length off my long hair, I did some research and found consistent great reviews of Salon David Escape Spa. I checked the team info on the website and then looked at those stylists instagram pages. I called the salon and was treated so nicely - I explained my concern that I have a stylist with lots of experience and one who understood that I enjoy long hair and don't want to be urged to go short. We talked about the team and agreed Susana was going to be perfect for me. I was not rushed in making my appointment and all my questions were answered pleasantly. When I hung up, I thought "These people understand customer service and graciousness." On the day of my appointment, I was pleased to see plenty of parking area. I walked in and was greeted warmly. Taking time to look around, I found a clean and lovely salon with a wonderful selection of hair and beauty products and probably the best selection of Oribe products I have seen. Best of all, here you can ask questions and find out which product is really best for you. My stylist, Susana greeted me right on time and showed me to her chair. Immediately, I could tell she was knowledgeable and professional but friendly and easy to talk to. Just wonderful and I immediately felt at ease. I showed her a few photos of Barbara Bach from 1977 - a gorgeous just below shoulder length style that seemed right for my lifestyle. A style I can glam up or pull into a ponytail, wear curly or smooth and straight. Susana counseled me about the style and the length and we opted to be conservative since I am a little scissor phobic. After the shampoo, Susana went to work and my hair was transformed. I even opted to go a little shorter because I could see I was going to love it and I trusted Susana. I'd had long hair for years and it was pretty but not particularly flattering to me. I appreciated that Susana listened to my concerns and hopes for my hairstyle. Susana took her time with me - never rushing. I ALWAYS felt like I was the most important person in the salon. She instructed me how to dry my hair for the most voluminous look and when she finished, I was thrilled. Susana advised me on products and the type of brush to use. When she finished, my hair looked just like the photo I showed her. I have never been more pleased with a salon or a stylist. I knew I had a great cut that would give me lots of flexibility in how I style my hair. I would highly recommend Salon David and wonderful stylist Susana. Her instagram page shows a sample of her amazing talent. I get many compliments on my hair now and have enjoyed curling it and playing with it. Curled up in a flip, curled under and teased at the crown, a low ponytail, on and on. My hair now has volume and bounce. Change your hair and change your life is the old saying right? Well I say, "Change your stylist and change your life!" Thank you so much Susana! I needed this terrific change right now! She took the time to talk to me about my hair and what i wanted to get out of the visit, then made sure everything was absolutely perfect before i left. The salon is beautiful and clean inside.
