It's the corner pizza joint that quickly and efficiently serves pizzas and salads up for you. If you have some extra time to spare, their entrees and heroes are good too. There are a decent number of tables and seats should you and your family or friends decide to dine in. My friends and I have gotten pizza slices of every variety known to man--plain, chicken, pepperoni, chicken ranch, mushroom, or pesto. I appreciate that Sal's has vegetarian options, including salads, veggie entrees, or pasta. It would be useful if their menu would indicate what ingredients are in their salads though because how is anyone supposed to know what's in a "tossed" salad or a "mixed green" salad? I moved out to Western NJ about 10 years ago and haven't had a decent slice since. It's either too doughy, the cheese is too thick or too cheap, the crust can't stand up to the job, or it's just undercooked. When I was in Brooklyn for a funeral across the street, I stopped to grab a slice before making the 1.5 hour trek home and I have to say - Sal's did not disappoint. We got a pesto slice, grandmas, Buffalo chicken, and a few plain. So delicious, the crust was perfect, and the flavor was spot on with what I was missing the last 10 years. Every time I come over here, pizza is always fresh and there's a nice variety to choose from. Staff is very nice and helpful. Place is clean just lacks a TV that's about it. There's also an ATM machine inside the place in case you run out of cash. Their grilled chicken with pasta is just awesome. Gotta try it !! read more

Not a fan. They took a very long time with my order, and their garlic knots are just okay. Also, they don't automatically include dipping sauce with the knots but charge extra for it. This is the first pizzeria I've been to in all of New York that doesn't automatically include dipping sauce with their garlic knots. Instead, they have endured years of competition and have become a neighborhood eatery. If you are a local or frequent the place they know who you are and strike conversation with you. The guy at the register can be short, but the other workers are usually pretty talkative and polite. They do have variations of pizzas. It's not the typical cheese or pepperoni. By far my girlfriend and my favorite Italian place. The pasta dishes are amazing. Penne a la vodka w/ chicken is out of control. We order it at least once a week! Pizza is excellent and they do not skimp on the toppings. Can't forget about the garlic bread!! The first time we ordered it we didn't expect the cheese and sauce on it but we could not have been more satisfied. Unfortunately no place is perfect. As a wing lover I wouldn't be doing my due diligence if I didn't warn my fellow wing lovers; the wings are a bust. They're soooo soggy, I've never had soggy wings like these. I found this pizzeria because of my job. I think they have the best grilled chicken Caesar salad ever! The chicken is always a good thin sliced cutlet (I hate veins and fat and chunky pieces of chicken) . The dressing is delicious and they put the perfect amount. The service was relatively fast and good - the pizza crust was really crispy (which I thoroughly enjoyed). Overall, the pizza was great and it looked like they had a vast selection of different types of pizzas. Your eyes might have spotted these rounds of dough with meat in them and you didn't give them a second thought. Well, think again. When I was a cop, my old partner who's from the South Side would take me here and we'd feast. The pinwheel, which I actually think is called a "pingui" (Ask Sal) is stuffed with cheese, pepperoni and ham. And when it comes out of the oven, it's crunchy, buttery and meaty all at once. Trust me. I'm actually a born and raised New Yorker....yes we do exist. And I was a cop, and we all know that cops know how to eat. When my partner came down to visit this past weekend and asked if I wanted anything like bagels or something, I said pinwheels from Sal's. And he brought six of them. I just had one for lunch. I like Sal's! The single slices are only a good deal if you get plain cheese, and sometimes they're not so hot because the pizza has been sitting out for awhile (uh, no pun intended). The full pies, however, are totally tops and highly recommended! Never being in the Brooklyn Metropolitan Ave. area, I mapped out a list of the places I could dine at near the Brick Theater. Sal's wasn't on my planned list... The knots: OMG. Garlicky, oily greatness bursting in your mouth. They are bite-sizeISH and perfect with 2 bites, if you want to be conservative. Pasta: Delicious. Fresh. Hot. Always so so good. The order took over an hour and a half, the lasangna was not hot, the cesars salad had more chicken than salad, and worst of all during these times the bread was left open in the bag not wrapped in anything. This was my first time ordering from Sal's and they did not disappoint. The delivery time was quoted at about 40-50 minutes. I figured I had enough time to go the wine shop to get a Malbec to go with our pie and pasta that we ordered. In just 30 minutes the delivery driver called to say our order was there so we ran down the block! The driver was very professional and the food was piping hot. The alfredo with spinach and chicken was tasty. My daughter, who normally eats everything but the ends of crust and sometimes the cheese, ate it all. When asking her to rank Luigi's in Clinton Hill, Rocco's, and Sal's, she gave Sal's an impressive 2nd place. We will order again. read more
