I asked for my veggie burro without a tortilla and they were happy to accommodate and it was delicious! They also informed me they don't use lard in their beans, which is a plus in my opinion. The veggie burro was a lunch special item, it came with a drink, rice and beans, all for $5.50. They also gave us complimentary chips and salsa. I would definitely go back. We were out for a bike ride and stopped in for a quick bite. Ordered the chicken fajitas which came with rice and beans and 4 tortillas. Everything was fresh. The chicken was tender and came with red & green peppers and onions with sour cream, guac and fresh chopped tomato and onions (pico) on the side. Complimentary chips and salsa - we really liked the sort of Caribbean type salsa but we also liked the green & the mild red salsas. Not fancy but it hit the spot. Recently, I went to inquire about a gym membership and came across Salsa Cabana Mexican Grill. The restaurant is located in the same strip mall area. I've been back six more times because of friendly service and delicious food. The restaurant is clean with an ample amount of comfortable seating. First time to this restaurant. The resturant was clean and we were greeted at the counter to order. The food was out fast and it was fresh. My husband ordered the red chili burrito which was loaded with meat. I ordered the two shredded beef taco plate. The shredded beef was good and the red chili meat was also good. It was alright i ordered pozole and it wasn't worth the price. It didn't come with any kind of tortillas and I was a small bowl. My husband had a chorizo burrito it looked good and he said it was good. I guess I should of got that instead. I may try this place again I don't know. This place is good! I'm so glad I found it so I know where to go when my kid is doing sports at Gene Autry park. Was craving a bean and cheese burrito and the one I got here for less than $5 couldn't have been better. Great tortilla, great beans and just the right amount of cheese. I love this place!! It's my favorite Mexican restaurant here in Mesa. The food is delicious, prices are great and the staff is wonderful!! One of my go to meals is #9; I usually order it as a plate instead of a burrito, that way I can take leftovers home (two meals for the price of one). Not sure why, but every time I attempt to eat here, it's closed. There is always a hand written note that they will return. They don't return when specified. This must happen a lot or I'm just very unlucky. The last 3 times I've come here they've been closed with a note on the door. Yesterday it said they were coming back at 5. I waited 15 minutes until 5. They did not come back. Please respect your patrons time and just say you're closed for the day. I can only imagine that the owner's life is in disarray. We've been coming here for years. It's some of the best Mexican food you'll find in the East Valley. Ownership is friendly and remembers our family every time we visit. People with allergies BEWARE! I ordered my lunch with no guacamole. I informed the lady of my avocado allergy. When the plate was served to me they had a big dollop of guac on it. As the same lady placed it in front of me I reminded her of my allergy. She apologized and brought it back to the kitchen/cooking area (visible to all customers). I heard her say to remove the guac and wipe it off. I in turn stood up and went to the counter and again reiterated that I HAD AN ALLERGY! I needed a new plate and fresh food. Not the same plate and not the same food that had been contaminated by the avocado. She looked at me and acknowledged and nodded her head at the cook and told the cook to make a new plate. They all acted like they had just been inconvenienced. I felt I had to stand there and watch to make sure they didn't scoop the old food onto a new plate. This restaurant is under new ownership. I sure do miss the husband and wife that owned it before. They were more courteous and grateful towards their customers. Should be a 1 star for threatening my health. But I gave them 2 stars because I like the condiment bar that they added to the restaurant. It was a nice touch. read more

I love tacos and this place has the best crispy tacos. They are crispy and not greasy. Their salsa bar is amazing so much variety and each one is delish. You can tell everything is homemade and authentic. Everything we have tried has been delicious. Some of our other favorites are their gorditas, chimichangas, tamales and soaps. Really great fish taco's, yes they deserve five stars. If you are looking for an expensive fine dining experience this is not the place, but if you are looking for great, homemade, inexpensive food, served with a smile then look no further. I bring out of town guests here and would recommend to people even if it is out of their way. Some notes: Ask for the special hotter sauce if you like it hot, it is super tasty. Get the fish taco's, even if you are unsure about liking a fish taco. Also, they will make it your way, just ask. I do wish they had chunky salsa for the chips and salsa, but that is a personal preference not a requirement. If you are in the East valley you should stop here. read more
