One of my favorite places to eat in downtown Dallas is Salsa Limón. The eatery serves authentic Mexican street food including tacos, burritos, bowls, and a variety of house-made salsas. Last Saturday, during a brief visit to the area I popped in for an early dinner. I ordered the Nachos dos Quesos ($9.75), a sea of crispy corn tortilla chips, topped with chorizo, savory black beans, smothered with crema and their signature cheese blend. There is a scoop of fresh made guacamole on the side. I also got a Strawberry Margarita. Salsa Limón's happy hour is Mon-Fri from 2-6 p.m and margaritas are $6.50 instead of $10.50, plus you also get chips and salsa for free. The restaurant was beautiful and had lots of natural light. Salsa Limon is always so yummy. If was recommended to me by my sister otherwise I don't think I would've entered the unassuming establishment. From the outside looking in it seemed like just another Mexican restaurant to me but when I entered i was greeted by a lively ambiance coupled with good customer service and delicious food. I placed an order through Uber Eats with Salsa Limón, and the experience was extremely disappointing. The restaurant gave my order to the wrong driver. When my assigned driver arrived to pick it up, they were told the food had already been taken. Instead of investigating or taking responsibility for the mistake, the staff accused my driver of stealing the order. I was then told to "call Uber" and that there was nothing they could do. At no point did the restaurant offer to remake the order, verify what happened, or take ownership of the situation. After a long morning at a convention downtown, a Dallas native in our group wanted to take us to an exemplary local taco shop to complete our Dallas experience. As this is the only taco I have had in Dallas, it is the unopposed best. But for what it is worth coming from a Birmingham native, the Al Pastor taco was the best taco I have ever had, anywhere. The portions were generous, yet I could have eaten twice as much. I especially enjoyed the variety of sauces available, though I was taken aback by the heat of the habanero sauce. If you like HOT things, it is delicious. The cheese dip was yellow american cheese based. I tend to prefer white cheese, but it was delicious nonetheless. The restaurant itself was a little cramped, but it was peak lunch hour and they did a great job turning customers over without it feeling rushed. If you're visiting Dallas, be sure to stop here.
