Went for dinner at about 6:30p. Order crab cakes (apptizer-$14) , spaghetti with chicken($19), and baby back ribs ($24) The best part - Service is good-natured and prompt, but misses a few marks (e.g. no asks for "pepper" or "cheese" like most other places). A little more crowded for space perhaps; I just had enough space to push my chair back a couple of inches before I'd hit the person sitting to my back. 1 unisex restroom - I didn't notice any more. Food was meh! After reading the other reviews, I wonder whether my experience was a "miss" but I doubt that. Bread basket (complimentary) was fresh warm sourdough, with just a couple of small slices, but enough to satiate until the food came along. The crab cakes were pricey for the portion (2 mini ones with not enough crab meat) but came with 2 large cups of sauce, which went waste since there wasn't enough cake to eat with anyway. Taste, was as good as anywhere. The chicken in the spaghetti was quite dry and did not feel freshly cooked; just thrown in to heat. The marinara was on point though the spaghetti was a close to al dente, yet felt undercooked. We didn't sent it back though. The baby back ribs were too well done, and very flavorless, but came with a bunch of fries which saved the day for me. The coleslaw was meager and hastily made. I've had bb ribs in a bunch of places to be able to compare, and I'd put the ones on my plate at about 2/5. I don't think I'm going to be patronizing this one again unless someone can explain why this was the way it was. However, to each their own; maybe your dish will come out great! read more

We had a super lunch here today, and can't wait to come back. Steak, scrambled eggs, home fries all tasty and cooked correctly. I like my steak rare, and that's how it was served. Mr B was craving a burger, and Salt & Pepper serves a good one. Side salad was yummy! Recommend their lemonade. It's fresh and tart. Service was excellent, and a nice ambiance in downtown tiburon. I used to frequent Roonie's restaurant (predecessor) so this restaurant brought me back to my childhood. Looking forward to conning back soon! read more

I have gone to Salt and Pepper twice now for breakfast and wanted to post a review about their Eggs Benedict. It's superb. The sauce is definitely freshly made and slightly savory and the whole thing is just delicious. The waiters are kind and attentive. The restaurant is spotless and the coffee is great. Recommended by friends and the food was very good. Cute place in Tiburon, parking was pretty easy even on a holiday weekend. Service was not only excellent and enjoyable - personable, without being pushy, or intrusive. We sat outside with our dog. One of our party had a birthday, which was simply mentioned in passing to our waiter, no request were made, Four of the serving staff came out, delivered a dessert with a really nice birthday card and sang. We were in Tiburon yesterday on a beautiful afternoon and decided to have lunch. We chose Salt & Pepper located downtown Tiburon on Main St, near the Tiburon Ferry Terminal. Public parking is right next door to the restaurant. They currently have outdoor seating at the restaurant and closed off part of the street for outdoor dining, The wait was about 20 minutes not bad, and we got a nice little table in the patio area in the back, We waited about 5 minutes before being served, I ordered a Scrimshaw large lager beer- $12.00, my son had a strawberry lemonade-$ 4.50, and we started off with appetizers- Fried calamari served with 2 types of sauces- $15.00 Taste was like eating tempura- very lightly breaded. Main course was crab Benedict- $20.00 delicious served with green salad, wife had grilled salmon which they converted from a sandwich to a dish served with veggies and rice- $33.00 and my son had the Cobb salad- $19.00 Everything was delicious! I'm going to be completely honest, I was going to eat at the restaurant across the street. Fortunately it was completely booked so I went across the street and ate outside at Salt & Pepper. I was skeptical of two things, first the menu font looked very wrong. I can't put my finger on it but it just threw me off when I looked at it. Next was that it was an "American" restaurant with a huge variety of plates. So I was thinking it was surely quantity over quality. I wasn't sure what to get off such a large menu so I just picked the seared tuna salad and stuck with it. It came out after what I think was 25 minutes and it looked delicious. The Tuna was covered in dressing and sesame seeds. And they give you a perfect amount of tuna so that you get tuna with every bite. And once I started eating it I found some pickled ginger which really made the whole salad remind me of a Poké bowl without rice. It was thoroughly flavorful through every bite. While it doesn't have the best ambiance outside or the fastest food, it makes up for it in spades with scrumptious food. Since I only did get one dish I can't tell you for sure that the whole menu is amazing, I do believe the chef knows what they're doing and I would definitely recommend coming here. read more

So I thought that brunch on the patio at Salt & Pepper would take care of everything. Not so. The setting? It is charming. Inside & out. But I want good food, too. And our plates were mediocre at best. The dishes: Crab Benedict & The Breakfast Sandwich. The minuses? The hollandaise sauce was bitter. Too much lemon juice. Bitter is definitely not what I was after. Even worse, there were crab shells in the dish. I do appreciate fresh crab, but please leave out the shell fragments. The sandwich was just ok. All the traditional components. Solid, but nothing spectacular. Our waiter was personable & downright charming. The strongest points were definitely the ambience & the service. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. But, in a good restaurant, there is no wrong thing. We had no wait for a table outside, on a warm, sunny day. That's unheard of in Tiburon. Huge plus. We arrived in Tiburon yesterday and this place was so well reviewed I went there for my first meal. Hard to find a place to eat outdoors nearby (indoor dining is all closed) so I just had the shrimp bisque, but it was OUTLANDISH good! A hidden gem - a great place to grab a bite to eat while in the area! After being quoted a 35 minute wait a Guaymas, we decided to walk around to find a better lunch spot. Thank goodness we found Salt & Pepper! Since it was such a nice day, we decided to sit on the patio, as the restaurant contained a whole bunch of pesky flies. We choose to start with the grilled fish tacos as an appetizer. Our waiter was nice enough to ask us if we wanted it split into 2 separate dishes. Why thank you, kind sir! The tacos were very good, the mango salsa a perfect accompaniment to it. I had the three cheese linguini with walnut pesto sauce and chicken. It was delicious! My friend had the house burger, which had a perfectly cooked, juicy beef patty - it lacked flavor, however. The burger came with coleslaw and potato salad - both of which were really good. We also ordered a side of french fries that was perfectly crispy and delicious! Overall, I would highly suggest this place if you're in the area! This had all the feels of a seaside cozy restaurant tonight. We originally had planned to meet our party at Sam's across the street but changed course after we saw the drab, sterile environment and cold reception. Anyway. The most gracious host, Alberto if I remember correctly, set up 2 tables for our guests in the blink of an eye. His recommendation for a wine off the list was superb, and we basically went off of his recommendation for the food which was the special for the night. Not all places do fish well and we were impressed. Really transported us to being at a restaurant on Nantucket ofc the beaten path. Already planning on hosting a party here. The staff is very friendly and the outdoor dining was very nice on this perfect weather day. We ordered easily and the food was delivered quickly. But there were issues. There was food embedded on a fork. Quickly replaced. The crab melt had large chucks on crab but unfortunately was really bland. The salad that accompanied it had no dressing. When we asked for blue cheese, the dressing delivered was very thin. It was like some milk was poured into the empty blue cheese bottle and shaken. The salmon burger was just not good, but the fries were okay. We both ended up only eating maybe 1/3 of our meals. I'm a local, and S&P is my favorite restaurant in Tiburon. They are friendly and welcoming, and have made the town feel even smaller with how they welcome us warmly. We debate in our family which meal is the best. I'm a vote for breakfast, and love their eggs benedict and spinach omelette the most. And don't miss the banana bread when they make it! We popped in for lunch while at the Tiburon Concourse. The burger was excellent as was the ahi tartare. The service was a little slow--only one server for the entire place--but she was very pleasant and the rest of the staff hustled along with her to keep everyone in water, menus, and with clean tables. Solid brunch spot that won't have the absurd wait like the places across the street. The service is great and the food is on par. A group of us had assorted sandwiches, the Reuben, the chicken salad, the steak, and the crab melt. They were all good, nothing spectacular but just what you expect from a nice sit down restaurant. Excellent service from all of their friendly staff. The place is rather small but the tables are reasonably set apart so that you can still manage to have some privacy. There's only one unisex restroom which I'm sure makes it uncomfortable when they get crowded. I had a salmon dish but can't recall the name, my boyfriend had the mongolian pork chops and he said it was good. Excellent, charming restaurant in Tiburon with reasonable prices, cozy atmosphere (but not small or cramped!) and excellent, filling food. My dad ordered the salmon burger and I had the special Mahi Mahi, and we each had a couple of beers. It was all delicious and we wound up so satisfied with dinner that we found ourselves incapable of ordering dessert. The staff was very friendly and took our orders with a terrific humor and efficiency. A great little spot for dinner in a beautiful part of the Bay Area. Not sure how this place got all the great reviews... We arrived on a Saturday evening for dinner to an almost empty restaurant. We entered and were told to choose any table that was available, then we waited and waited and waited... See where I'm going here? After asking twice for some one to take our order... In an empty restaurant, we finally had waiter arrive to table and take our drink order. The wine came and then we waited and waited and waited... Catch my drift... This was a clear sign to leave, but it was after 8pm, and we were hungry. So after asking, whom I presume was the owner or manager, our server magically appeared. We ordered and then again waited and waited and waited, until our food arrived.... No one in between stopped to ask if we needed anything, however by that time, More tables were now full.. so imagine, if you cannot take care of 1 or 2 tables, how can you handle 7? The food was mediocre at best. The mussels were so overcooked, that they were like chewing old gum, and the broth they were in looked like swamp water. The Coq au Vin was basically roasted chicken dumped into a wine reduction sauce plus some water added to thin it out. The mashed potatoes were good, however; the highlight of the evening. We asked for check before finishing meal since we would have waited all night for it and left without looking back. Terrible service ... Although honorable mention goes to the bus boy, who was our only help during the evening. He knew things were going down the tube, but was probably afraid to say anything took his boss. Sub par food as well. Go at your own risk, or better yet, just stay away. Lucky for us, we are on vacation and don't have to come back, but seriously, think twice before going. read more
