A couple of years ago, we visited Salt & Straw in Los Angeles and were amazed by their unique ice cream flavors, such as olive oil and blue cheese, which tasted incredible. Recently, while walking through the West Village, we spotted the ice cream shop and decided to try it again. Although the seasonal flavors were different from our last visit, they were just as delicious. We sampled the coffee chamomile sherbet, which was subtle and delightful, as well as the strawberry tres leches, which was absolutely delicious. My husband couldn't resist trying the arbequina olive oil flavor before we left. The shop had an inviting ambiance and plenty of outdoor seating, perfect for nice weather. The service was good, too! :)

Amazing service and ice cream flavors!! The server was also very helpful in pointing out the gluten free flavors. The location also has an allergy "cheat sheet" for reference which always gives me peace of mind. I had the strawberry balsamic honey and black pepper ice cream with the arbequina olive oil and that was an amazing pairing! My friends and I went after dinner at around 7pm and it was quiet and cozy enough for chatting. Later on it did get pretty packed and noisy so plan accordingly if you plan on chatting!

This is my second visit to the NYC salt and straw locations, not too many flavors at the moment that really piqued my interest compared to the autumn season. 4.5/5 Rhubarb + Star Anise 4.2/5 Salted Malted Cookie Dough 4/5 Pistachio

Salt and straw is my absolute favorite ice cream. I am more of a cookies and cake person but this is the place I go out of my way to get to when I want ice cream. The service is always friendly, and the flavors are always creative. My favorite is the chocolate babka. I tried the chocolate malted potato chip cupcake but it was much sweeter than the babka. I love the creativity of their flavors and they never disappoint. The staff was very kind and asked me about my dietary restrictions and told me I can't have the pistachio due to pork gelatin. Don't be discouraged by the line...it moves fast. If you want to eat there you can sit on the ledge along the window.

Monthly Ice Cream Date #14 Nothing that special about this month's Cereal Series, just well-executed classics. The only one I didn't like was the Concord Grape. It's very strong + just not my vibe. Tried the Salted Brownie Waffle bowl--a freebie in their rewards program. Not that sweet, more rich + my friend said slightly salty, which balanced our extremely sweet ice cream. Idk if it was because of the bowl or our server was generous, but we got HUGE scoops.

Ok so to start this was a yelp event and I'm so glad it was bc to be honest I never heard of them before! I'm always looking for good ice cream spots to bring my kids & this one was soooo good!! I love the set up. The shop is on a corner and I loved that. Very west village. The staff was soo kind and sweet. Kaylee - I could be wrong I'm so sorry my but she was awesome. My son had a lucky charms style ice cream and I had the salted caramel....freakin amazing. Now summer is around the corner after the park def going to be back.

Gets pretty crowded and there was a line the night we dropped by. This Seattle based ice cream serves up an eclectic variety of delicious flavors. Counter staff let us try two flavors. I had a double scoop cup of Salted Malted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper. Wow - so good and both very different. They label themselves "as a small-batch, chef-driven ice cream, handmade using local ingredients. Curiously Delicious Ice Cream." Yes, for sure!

First time trying Salt & Straw Ice Cream, the customer service was exception, they were very patient and welcoming and helped us try as many flavors as we wanted. I ended up ordering the waffle cone with a split scoop flavor the Chocolate brownie & Hazelnut Cookies and cream. I found the ice cream to be just the right level of creamy and sweet and the waffle cone was really great. I think they had unique flavors and it was good ice cream, but what really set the experience apart was the friendly customer service and overall vibe of the location. I would definitely go back!

The Pistachio and Ricotta Cannoli in the house-made waffle cone was so bomb. The flavors blended nicely and the chunks of frozen ricotta added a nice texture. The waffle cone tasted incredibly fresh which made it even better. I recommend using a spoon if you order a cone. My daughter also very much enjoyed her cup of Chocolate Gooey Brownie. Both flavors were not overly sweet--tasted fresh and high quality.

Far too expensive and not worth it. The ice cream is very overhyped and honestly nothing impressive. It's mostly unusual or "fancy" flavors you don't typically find at other shops. I tried the Salted, Malted, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (yes, that's the full name) and immediately regretted it. The flavor combination was gross and I've never had oily ice cream before, it felt like a waste of money. I will give them full credit for their efficient and polite customer service. Despite the place being extremely crowded with a long line, the staff kept everything moving quickly and handled everyone with patience and grace. Regardless of how great the service was, the ice cream itself just didn't justify the price or the hype for me.

Please continue expanding on the East Coast! Fantastic ice cream, warm and friendly staff. Fun, inventive, and delicious flavors, I genuinely wanted/needed to try about 10 but grudgingly settled on just 4 in a flight. A tad pricy at ~$16, and my one minor complaint is that the waffle chip accouterments were pretty stale.

You can never go wrong with ice cream. I had their vegan hazelnut cookies and cream. It was delicious. Almost every bite had cookies in it. It wasn't overly sweet so you can taste the flavors of the hazelnut and cookies. The service was fast and friendly. The space is wide and spacious. It's a prime location.

Good ice cream but I've had much better with less of a line. I liked that you can sample as many flavors as you would like. I didn't realize the mint chip was vegan until after I ordered it or else I would have gotten something else.

My vegan friend appreciated that he could choose from multiple vegan flavors, not just be limited to the one and only offering, which is what most places usually have. Melon flavor was incredible. Tasted like frozen melon was crushed with ice and chopped into an ice/smoothie blend. Super refreshing. Very sweet, though. All flavors are very sweet, so a small portion can be shared and you will feel satisfied. I personally enjoyed their in-house special flavor of gelato: honey cream with crushed almonds, pistachios, and hazelnuts. That was bombastic! Love how nutty the consistency was. I love nuts, so this almost reminded me of a chunky peanut butter situation: just more fine grained and smooth, with gelato being the base. Highly recommend trying this flavor! Focacia was okay. A bit too dry and bland for my liking, but still decent. My favorite item was the pistachio bombolone which is officially now my favorite dessert. This was magnificent! The yeasty dough was so light and airy--perfectly light and balanced. The filling of pistachio cream was very delicate and not sweet at all, which was such a nice surprise. I do not like saccharine dessert. The fresh raspberry jam was a perfect balance to the pistachio cream. I never like jams in my desserts, but this was a perfect complement. Woooow, what a treat! Can't wait to return for it and to try more of their other flavors--hazelnut & chocolate, coconut, white chocolate, tiramisu. You could taste the superb quality of the ingredients. Highly recommend.

And this wasn't that either, but I now need to find a place for this near me. It was more like regular ice cream at a soft-serve consistency, topped with all the things-- that part was as expected. Hubs & I were thinking of getting two different things but we both wanted the mango madness, and then the checkout person said it was the size of a quart container. So just one then. I wish we got to see it being made up but it was full in there (at 10p, after the theaters let out), and they seated us and gave us a buzzer that went off almost immediately. We almost didn't finish it even between the two of us. Absolutely delicious, just overwhelmingly enormous. It could be a low-grade food challenge to complete it! And with all that fruit, actual mango chunks and a banana, it's practically a healthy snack. Gotta find one of these closer to home!

There's just something special about their gelato--especially when topped with that rich pistachio sauce. This time, I didn't have room for something quite as indulgent, but I still wanted something sweet after dinner at La Basque. The closest Amorino was in Greenwich Village, just a 10-minute walk away. That walk alone is always a treat--Greenwich Village is charming, pedestrian-friendly, and full of outdoor dining and energy, especially on a September Saturday afternoon. I grabbed my gelato to-go and chose the amarena and hazelnut flavors, topped with the signature pistachio sauce. They poured the sauce at the bottom of the cup, and it hardened slightly to create a delicious shell underneath the gelato.
