First time ever I went to salt grass yesterday. My experience was mixed. We were next door shiping for a car. Felt hungry and walked over to salt grass for a quick grub. Since it was off hours in between lunch and dinner, we got seated very quickly. Server this young kid seemed to be super in happy being there. We felt little awkward with his attitude but we decided to still stay there and eat since we didn't have a car to drive to another place. Quickly we got served a loaf of bread and some sweet butter. Bread seemed hard. We asked for another loaf and that was much softer and edible. We ignored our servers attitude and proceeded to order our meals as we had to get back to ford to pick up our car. We ended up Ordering some appetizer with shrimp and jalapeños with hay of onionss in the middle. For enter I ordered Nashville hot chicken sandwich which was not good. Chicken was mostly batter and cold. I literally just ate one bite of the sandwich and left it. My friend ordered Salman cedar salad which he liked a bunch. Over all mixed bag of experience. I came here for dinner with a friend the week after New Years. We were both craving steaks and he had dined here before and raved about the place. I should have realized that the best way to replicate his experience was to order what he did... My choice of entree was the Ribeye steak. It was nicely marbled and cooked exactly as I had requested it (medium-rare). The downside was the fact that the steak was much thinner than Ribeyes usually are in my experience; it was also quite bland. My friend went with the smothered filet, and when I return I'll know that's the thing to order; it was at least two inches thick, smothered with mushrooms and wonderfully seasoned. I tried some and it was delicious! I had immediate entree envy ;-) Our sides were both delcious and nicely presented, the service was impeccible, and the venue was clean and attractive. I'll definitely return when dining in is once again an option and I'll remember to order the smothered filet :-) read more

Came here for my birthday dinner, they gave me my steak rare, like purple bleeding, when I asked for medium, sent it back and they brought the steak out the same amount of rarity, same steak too. Third time the brought it out it was charred to hell. If youre asking if they comped the $30 piece of crap the answer is no. Do not go here unless your ready to leave disappointed and angry. Edit to add- you have the option to scan a qr code to pay at the end and I attempted twice to do so, kept denying payment because my server was looking at the order on the POS system while the rest of my party was able to pay fine so I then had to stay later for her to run my card herself. Honestly I expected more. So I dine here from time to time and noticed that the prices have gone up. I get it this is a steakhouse and these sorts of restaurants aren't cheap. The the bone in ribeye is listed as market price. The pork chops are over 20 bucks. When I spend 23.99 for a double bone pork chop I have a few expectations. 1. I'd like my silverware to look clean. I would like to think it was just water spots but come on, you can do better then this. 2. When I order hot tea I expect you to offer me something more refined then Lipton. 3. I'd like my baked potato to be large. What is the deal with the tiny potatoes?? 4. When the menu says the pork chop will be pan seared don't bring me a deep fried chop with bacon jam on it and act like this is what the menu described. 5. Every time we come to Texas, we always check this place out, and for good reason: It's hella good! My good man usuallyl goes for the Sirloin, but it's a little too small for my tastes, and I tend to go for the Ribeye, which is nice and fatty, succulent and juicy AF. The salads are also pretty good, but I forgot to ask for dressing on the side, and as you know, when you don't do that, restaurants just assume that you want a full bottle of dressing on your veggies. It's like, I don't think this person meant to order thiis healthy option, so why don't I got ahead and ruin it. Anyway, it was still good, but I will make sure I do it my way next time ;D The food is good, the bread is also really good, and the drinks are pretty strong, so what could go wrong?! I was craving a chopped steak. I went in late afternoon on Sunday. I sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly enough and made me a nice Tito's martini. I got the chopped steak with a grilled onion and mushroom in a cognac sauce topper. Baked potato soup and steamed broccoli. The soup was pretty good not too creamy and chunks of potato. The broccoli was perfectly steamed. The steak. Ehhkkk! It was really weirdly chewy and the sauce was SO salty that it made me wince even after trying to scrape it off. So so salty. I could not eat even 1/2. When the bartender asked how my meal was I let them know about it being disappointing. They told me next time I should order something else. No kidding. read more

I know that sounds lime a strange brew, but the banana did not overpower and the overall experience was like an espresso martini. I'd do it again. If banana isn't your thing, consider subbing kaluha or malibu for the banana whiskey and you'd have 2 other great drinks, w/ the later emmulating a German Chocolate Cake. I ordered the absolute biggest steak they had (22 oz for $38) and enjoyed two free sides of salad and french fries. I could get used to these Texas prices. I hit up Saltgrass each time I am in Texas. It never disappoints and this time was no exception. I had the 8 oz sirloin because I knew I could not eat more and did not want leftovers. The atmosphere in the restaurant was good. The ordering process was smooth and my food came out in a reasonable time. The problem here is quite simply the food just isn't of a very high quality. Crabcakes with more filler than crab. Seemed like they were cooked from frozen. Bread undercooked inside and overcooked outside. A simple baked potato. First time having Saltgrass and came because I had received gift cards to the restaruant. I'm always excited to try a new restaruant for some different flavors. For starters I order a frozen margarita, can't go wrong with one of these. Also get an order of seafood fondeaux and shrimp & chicken enbrochette. These apps were a great start! The fondeaux was so warm and cheesy, paired with the garlic bread I couldn't stop esting it till it was finished! The Shrimp and chicken enbrochette were a little different for me being that its a bacon wrapped chicken with shrimp. So a lot of different meats. They were tasty though with the sauce it comes with. They come with fried onion strings too which were great. For my entree I ordered the Pats Ribeye medium Well a side of mac and cheese and a chicken tortilla soup. The soup comes out first and I really enjoyed the tortilla soup here, it's brothy and has great flavor to it. My steak comes out and seems it was more well done on one side and pink on the other, so it seemed to be cooked uneven. Steak was not that great for me. My side of mac and cheese and delicious though. Definitely some great items here and maybe my steak not being cooked correctly made me not enjoy this experience as much, but I would come back and get something different. read more

Great atmosphere. Wonderful loaf of bread hints of pumpkin. Baked potatoe soup is delicious with bacon, cheddar, and chives. 10 oz ribeye is flavorful as well and gives the sensation of melting on your mouth - tender. Brussel sprouts are sliced, well prepared, and give the impression of a hot salad. Unique and well done presentation. Sirloin reported very good, and the mash very good as well. They will change the station to the channel if your choice if no one is already watching something. Was given a gift certificate (GC) in 2014 (seriously) so decided it was finally time to try Saltgrass with a family member. First thing which hit me on menu was extremely high calorie count on virtually all salads. We ordered the 9 Oz filet, Caesar salad, and grilled chicken sandwich. The food review is as follows: Caesar had entirely too much dressing (I quickly realized why all salads have high calorie count), brought out 6 Oz filet even though we ordered 9 Oz (waiter offered to take it back and recook steak?), was quite marbly which made us believe it wasn't truly a filet, and chicken sandwich was average and a bit on dry side. We thought about ordering the carrot cake but it comes in at a whopping 1,900 calories so we passed. Overall, everything was just below average from food and service but since it was paid for with GC, we did not made an issue of trying to fool us with smaller steak and too much dressing on salad - hard pass on any future visits to Saltgrass. read more

Got there early and ordered a 10 oz rib eye on the before 6pm menu section priced at $19.95. Partner had salmon Salmon was small, burned and dry. Portion of fries was huge as was the up charged onion strings. Waitress didn't know extra cost in lieu of salad. My rib eye was thin but tasty. The baked potato and salad and bread were good. Waitress asked three times if we wanted $9 cake slice! HOWEVER when the bill came I noticed the rib eye was priced at $ 21.95, $2 above the menu price. Not a huge difference but I had to ask. The waitress, confirmed I was right with a look at the menu. She went to have it corrected and I thought I'll give her an extra $2 tip. But she returned with news the menu was wrong as price had increased . What?? Now $2 isn't a big deal, but the Principle of a menu price not being honored was probably a restaurant low for me! My only choice was now to lower the tip! Unfair to waitress? Yes! But who would want to work there . Sad to see such a fine place stoop so low. Avoid it ! read more

The waiter replaced it, but it was still like last nights bread slightly reheated. The steak was very thin, like a breakfast steak you would get it low end chain to 10 bucks with eggs. The Ribs....vwry dry, not good at all....just nasty. I have it 2 stars because the waiter was very good...and the Range Rattlers were very good. The food is better than fast food and the steaks are decent but not good enough to endure the bad service. Very impressed by everyone working here. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with a smile and as soon as you sit down the waitress comes right up. Our waitress in particular was very nice and attentive. They are also very fast! Our drinks came out immediately, then our appetizer had great timing, and right as we were done our soups and salads were next. It just seems as everything was timed perfectly, because we finished our soups and salads and here comes our delicious, perfectly cooked steaks just like we ordered. Writing this review is making my mouth water. If you want a good steak and great customer service this is the place to be. Ohhh and they also bring out a homemade wheat bread that was crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. Perfect combination! Haven't been to a Saltgrass in over a decade. My go to has been Roaring Fork. On Monday, I took my wife here, and we were delighted. The decor is very classy. The service was impeccable, and the steaks were perfectly cooked. I ordered a New York Strip medium rare, and my wife had the same with grilled shrimp added. I came during lunch on a Saturday with a friend. We were greeted at the door and seated in a table in the middle area in front of the kitchen. The bread and honey butter compliment each there very well. I had the 10 oz ribeye with garlic mashed potatoes cooked medium rare. My friend got the smothered steak and a loaded baked potato.
