First of all, let's talk about Julian!!!!!! hands down the best bartender we've encountered in Texas, and that is not an exaggeration. This guy could easily be slinging cocktails at a swanky four-star steakhouse downtown and raking in the big bucks, but lucky for us, he's here at Saltgrass in Irving, just five minutes from our house. We popped in for happy hour (always on the lookout for a good deal) and ended up spending about $80 on two appetizers and five cocktails. How? Oh right....Julian's impeccable service and the generous tip we happily left him. The happy hour martinis (Tito's for $6!) were perfectly chilled with those dreamy ice crystals on top, just how I like it. Not only did Julian ice the glass and shake it just right, he even put a couple backup glasses chilling for my next pour. I mean... who does that anymore? He brought us the delicious warm bread and butter without us even asking, and we shared the fried mozzarella and tenderloin bites, both solid choices from the happy hour menu. To top it all off, Julian surprised us with a complimentary slice of carrot cake to welcome us on our first visit. Talk about service with heart. Saltgrass, you have a GEM behind the bar. Take good care of Julian!! we certainly plan to be back often as long as he's there. Five stars and a toast to great drinks and even better hospitality!

The staff was great, but the cut of steak not so much. I'm a ribeye guy and I am always good with fat but there was no way this was 16oz. The old fashioned was made well but they offered me the happy hour which had bulleit, when they had an amazing buffalo trace old fashioned on the menu, why offer the cheap stuff?!?! So in all I got what I paid for I guess. An $80 meal. Just a reminder that it's worth going high class for steak. The starter and sides were good though.

Very Texas decor. A traditional steak house. I made an order to go. In the meantime the wonderful bartender introduced me to their signature Texas tea, their take on a Long Island. It was pretty good. Energetic conversation as patrons at the bar socialized while watching the game. Service was attentive and engaging. My steak was cooked extremely well!! I was pleasantly surprised!

My coworkers wanted to go to this restaurant called the - "Saltgrass Steak House" in Irving, TX. one night, and since I had me some wheels, I drove da fellas out to Saltgrass to check 'em out. I'm so glad I came out to the Saltgrass, as the food here was reasonably priced. If you're not into steaks (like me), there were many other alternative food options, plus a big bonus as there was a Monday night football game going on, and I got to watch part of the game from the restaurant. While looking over the menu, I decided to get the grilled salmon with a garden salad and a baked potato with some sourcream on top, while both of my coworkers gorgeded themselves on some juicy steaks. What can I say about the grub??? Unfortunately, ordering seafood at a steak house may not be the best idea, as my salmon was definitely overcooked. Lol! The Saltgrass Steak House kinda reminded me of a Stuart Anderson (what I have back home), where they have a cowboy themed decor within the restaurant. Service here was excellent, as our hostess was also our waitress & she provided us with the most friendly & efficient service. Service definitely was on point! Food - 3 Service - 5 So I averaged it out to a "4".......if ya ever decide to come here, stick with the juicy steaks! Lol!

Update from previous review. Santos the general manager reached out, and we discussed the matter. I met with him on Tuesday and received a replacement meal. This was the quality I am accustom to at Salt Grass. Missy was took great care of me and Santos made this right! Thank you I will return as a customer!

If it isn't apparent one of my favorite meals is steak with a baked potato and salad. So, happy hour at SGSH was a must after a long work week. Our service was phenomenal I believe her name was Mya. Beautiful personality, friendly, informative, and attentive. Upper management should consider promoting her to the floor server training specialist. Now let's get to this food.... I ordered the ribeye lunch special & my coworker had the beef tips over tators. The cocktails of choice were a grand Texas tea and frozen Crown and Coke.

I had dinner with a good friend of mine last night. She ordered a steak and potato...which she said was fantastic. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with herb rice. The chicken was very crispy and delicious, but I decided that I preferred the mashed potatoes and they provided without any issues. I wanted to try the carrot cake, but was hesitant because of the pineapple in it. I tried the cake and it wasn't bad at all. Marisol was our waitress and she was extremely pleasant. I am looking forward to going back for lunch or dinner. Their customer service made our experience just wonderful and I have been telling everyone I talk to about it. read more

Came in for my moms birthday and I wanted to impress my mom. It's 4:30 and there are barely any tables inside. The service was horrible. I've worked in hospitality industry for 6 years and I must say one of my worst experiences ever. Our waitress took 11 min to greet us. She didn't know how to open a bottle of wine properly and didn't refill water ever. Be careful read more

Food was good. It was a good atmosphere. Met for a business dinner and it was a good place for it. We were able to spend some time talking after eating and did not feel like we were being rushed to leave. I had the ribeye with the mushroom s and onions and it was really good. Give the shrimp stuffed jalapeños a try they were really good. read more

i come here so much...can't believe i've never written a review for here!! i love love love the grilled chicken breast with the scampi rice...makes me wanna slap anyone around lol this is probably the only place i can get a good chicken breast...it's never dried out & even my leftovers are juicy when i heat them up. the service is always great & friendly & very knowledgeable!! read more

Food was good but service not so much ! Manager Nate also seem to careless about to which tells me that this place is ok with below par services. Its to bad because the food is great , i just cant get past getting treated like i didn't pay for what i got ! I am shocked at what you can do and still keep a job these days . Has been my favorite place for quite a while until the last few times, it has been extremely disappointing. Slow service, poor food quality and just not worth the wait or the money. I hope they turn it around soon. I'll give them a bit to shape up and then another chance. No one does bread like they do! read more

This was my first visit to Saltgrass. When my family and I arrived, it took a while to receive service. Others close by received their drinks, placed, their order, and received their food before us which was a little odd. Once our waiter came, he did a good job of checking on us. Very positive and upbeat. I ordered a steak medium rare but when it came with my families entrees, it was medium well. Once the waiter came, he took my plate back for the correct order. After a while, my meal came but my family was close to being done with there meal. I assume it was the manager who brought it but he never introduced himself, offered an apology for the mixup, or any discounts. The waiter did however stop by to be sure it was correct. I initially wanted to use my reward points but was unable to use them all due to my purchase of alcoholic beverages. I fine with this policy. It would have been nice to been told this before I paid for our ticket and been given the opportunity to purchase desserts and use my remaining balance. All in all, it wasn't a good experience. read more

I had a Ribeye.. It was not cooked right. I got sick immediately. It was aweful. I will never go back. This was my anniversary and it really was a horrible experience. We paid 70 bucks for a potato and salad basically. They did not even offer to accomodate or make things right. read more

This place is great for a good steak when you don't feel like for going your mortgage payment for Bob's or Nick and Sam's. I had the steak and shrimp with broccoli and was very satisfied. It came with fresh bread and a pretty good house salad so all in all I couldn't complain. Its a bit casual and has a pretty good bar for Irving. read more

I took my mother in law here for her 46th birthday dinner since she came all the way out from N. Cali to spend time with us. She enjoyed her 12oz steak w/ loaded mashed potatoes and the hubby with his. I had the grilled salmon w/ mixed veggies which would of been fantastic but it was slightly undercooked. It wasn't a huge deal, but I just wished they had tested the temp before serving it to me. Our server was amazing and I will be back. read more

Best Saltgrass in Dallas! I actually live in McKinney, but the last 2 times I was at the Saltgrass in McKinney, it was awful. The quality of the food has gone way down. We drove to Irving today and tried the Saltgrass there and it was GREAT!!!! The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. It was just the way I remembered it to be. I guess from now on we will drive to Irving for our Saltgrass fix instead of staying in McKinney! read more

Had steak & shrimp, sweet potato fries, & a ceaser salad. Everything was great - I was especially surprised by how awesome the steak was. I have had steak from Capital Grille and Bobs, and the one I had at saltgrass was delicious!! The drinks were good, but very over priced. And the bread is sub par to say the least. Definitely would go back for the steak. read more

Once you've been to a Saltgrass, you've been to all of them. You standard chain steak house, If you want a halfway decent steak it's not a bad place to go. If you're looking for a steak that melts in your mouth and you want an atmosphere where you can enjoy it without kids running around, move on. read more

Had dinner in the bar area last night. Normally the service is fantastic... The bartender was doing his best but the kitchen and runners didn't see my food come up. As a result, my food was not hot so I had to send it back. They corrected the problem immediately and even threw in free dessert for my trouble. read more

Our service was terrible. I saw other servers smiling and interacting with their tables, but "apathetic" is the best way to describe our server. Margaritas were good. Prime rib lacked flavor, but my friend's sirloin was pretty amazing. I just don't know about this place. read more

First off I want to start with the host, I walked in and I saw her on her cell phone showing another coworker something. The server was very friendly and inviting but he could use some more training as I had to ask several times for my drink to be refilled. The food was good. I'd definitely go back. Just want better service next time. read more

On Saturday, 3/14 My hubby was in the mood for a good steak. I remember eating at Saltgrass in Fort Worth about 7 years ago and it was great, so I recommended Saltgrass. Big mistake!! The ladies bathroom was filthy, I believe it had piss on the floor; we arrived around 3:30pm so it should not have been that dirty. My husband found hair in his salad. I ordered the prime rib and asparagus. The asparagus was overcooked and greasy and the prime rib did not have any seasoning. I sent my food back. The manager did not appear to value customer service because when I told her about the condition of the ladies restaurant and the quality of food, she just looked and continue doing her job. After this experience, I will never eat at another Saltgrass again. read more

We chose Saltgrass this year for Valentine's Day. It was super busy, but got seated ahead of the estimated wait time. Appetizers came out fairly quickly and were good. My husbands steak was great - no problems. Mine, however, came out rare when I ordered it medium rare. The manager and waiter were super nice about it and went out of their way to make it right -- three tries made it a charm. Considering they were slammed for V-Day, the food was great and the service was outstanding. We will definitely return. read more

Had a horrible dining experience today at Saltgrass- Irving,TX. My Prime rib was cooked rare, requested medium well, the server was slow. I went after the lunch time crowd for that reason, around 3pm. I only had an hour lunch & didn't have time for a do over. The manager didn't even offer a future meal or discount. I still had to pay for my sides. I think the server came by my table twice with a total of 10 patrons in the entire restaurant. There were 5-6 servers. This was ridiculous service and I wasn't satisfied at all. read more

Every time I am in Texas I have to visit the Saltgrass. Their Queso is the best around and their steaks are always cooked perfectly! The portions are big and the entrees come with a soup or salad (I always choose the Caesar, it's great) and a side. The prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. Just don't bring a vegan! read more

Ordered prime rib and surf and turf... Prime rib was ordered and came out like a shriveled dark ball sack... Then the next prime rib they came back with was like well done... So they brought the manager... And she didn't say she was comping anything... Just a apology... This dinner completely ruined out night... I was in town for business and came here for lunch. I have heard about all the Texas steakhouses so I decided to give it a try. I had the chopped steak and it was pretty good. In my opinion, I had no complaints or no high praise. The customer service was pretty good and the prices weren't bad. My rating is somewhere between 3.5/4 stars. read more

Visited this restaurant with my husband and two of his co-workers for Friday happy hour! Our server Lynette was FANTASTIC. Her service made me feel like I was being hosted at her home. She was extremely attentive even though she was serving other tables at the same time. The food and drinks were also on point, I had a tuna salad entrée, and some orgasmic chocolate for dessert. So with all of those elements combined, it was definitely a happy hour! I can recommend this place easily to anyone! read more

My boyfriend and I sat at the bar and had great service. We both enjoyed a few drinks and I got a chicken caesar salad. The salad was huge but delicious and the garlic bread that came with it was amazing. I could have just eaten garlic bread as my meal! Everything was excellent. My only complaints would be that they close fairly early on a Friday night and they allow smoking at the bar (which seems to be a trend in the Irving area). The bartender was very nice and great at checking on us. read more

I had a show I was as attending at the Irving convention Center and wanted to grab a bite to eat prior to the show. I walked around, looking for places that were open, and this was the only place I found within a reasonable walking distance. As we entered the restaurant, it was a really nice place. Corey, who I believe was the Manager on Duty greeted us warmly and guided us through the menu. We made our selections and when I went to the restroom to wash my hands I noticed a whole other world...an amazing event space that is kind of part of the restaurant. It had a stage, a green room, multiple bars and a really neat space and seating. After my tour, my Eggs Benedict were ready and were they ever delicious!

Our group also ordered the chicken sandwich, mac and cheese, the crab and Parmesan dip, and the pork chop with mashed potatoes. Every single dish earned a 5-star review from our table! I don't remember our server's name, but he was originally from the Los Angeles area if that helps identify him. He was fantastic, friendly, attentive, kept our drinks full, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. This was an outstanding experience from start to finish. Great food, great service, and a place we'll definitely be coming back to. 5/5 stars!
