I took my son to the doctor on Friday afternoon and was so happy to see Saltgrass next door! I wanted my prime rib, but remembered once inside that they stopped carrying it after covid - it is no longer on the menu. So I opted for ribs instead, knowing they would be just as good heated up later. My son ordered the sirloin and fried shrimp and shared some with me - so delicious! The sirloin was so moist and cooked perfectly and the shrimp was hot and fresh. My ribs fell off the bone and the sweet potato was plump and full of melting butter - but not too much! I would have given it a 5-star rating but on this visit our server didn't seem interested in us. She wasn't friendly, didn't smile and just kept rushing us and then running off but it was only 5pm, she wasn't busy. Please at least make me think you appreciate our business. So I read their reviews online but decided to go and visit them anyway. I'm glad we did! The moment we came in, the front desk was very nice, friendly and she got us seated right away. Once we're seated, not even 5 mins, a server approached our table and asked us for our drinks and told us that Dale would be taking care of us. Here, you can see how well they work together as a team! Our server's name is Dale and he is a soft spoken man with incredible customer service, quite attentive and diligent to all his guest's requests and questions. He gave us enough time to read through the menu and when he served our table, he was gentle and delicate on placing the plates and other orders. You can tell how they were trained to serve as a high end restaurant. We had bread and the silkiest butter we've ever seen and tasted! The salad was great and my tortilla soup, my gosh I never had that before! I wish they had endless tortilla soup! Now for the main event... the food was cook to perfection. Chef's kiss for sure! My hubby loved his steak, it's juiciness and tenderness. He devoured the baked potato. I had the Cajun ribeye, at first I was worried they would overcook or over seasoned the steak but when I finally tasted it, it was incredibly delicious! It was seasoned with love as I would describe it! The meat was tender and the char part was addicting! I love their herb rice as well since I happen to give criticism on rice when it comes to restaurants. I would say, Asian and Spanish decent would be so proud! Lastly, the atmosphere was amazing! I enjoyed looking at the pictures of cowboys and other cool mementos they have. I've seen so many guest including a group of veterans enjoying their dinner and catching up. I had my mother's birthday party at this location with 27 people! I cannot express enough how helpful and wonderful the staff was. The managers Jason and Jacques helped to make sure all was set up before the dinner. They allowed me to use an entire section of the restaurant and decorate. I will try my hardest not to sound like a finicky cow in this review as a result of our way of eating now that we're eating a meatbased diet that is so different to the way the majority of people eat. And let me first state here that our server was a pleasant chap, professional and friendly. The husband tried his hardest to enquire whether the steaks are cooked or served with butter or margarine and that no suagr is used as part of the seasoning. We were told they use butter and margarine but there is definitely no sugar in the seasoning. The husband then asked for no margarine at all in his meal and for a side of real butter for his broccoli. When asked how he wanted his steak cooked, the husband said medium rare but more towards rare. The server was probably a little confused, he asked again. Is that rare? The husband said no, medium rare but more rare than medium rare. After which the server then summarised it as "medium rare". I know, I know, we were expecting a little too much of an accomodation there because it was obviously a little difficult to entertain the request being a steak house. So when I was asked what I would like, I said I wanted exactly the same things as the husband. Keywords here being "exactly the same thing". I have to insert here that the wait for food was also longer than expected, but I'm factoring in that was a Saturday night. Not a complaint, just an observation. Now, the husband got his ribeye, broccoli, and butter but I only got ribeye and broccoli. Both the steaks came topped with what we assumed to be real butter. I was too engrossed in the conversation with a friend whom I haven't seen in 4 years to care that I wasn't given an additional dish of butter. My steak came out more medium than medium rare. Again, I didn't want to make a point of it because I was too occupied with my company rather than the food. The very next day we realised margarine was obviously part of our meal and I suspected the huge globs of "butter" on the steak if not part of the cooking process. We know this because of tummy pains and the husband's joints were hurting (he is more sensitive than me). Not complaining, complaining here because we were both prepared for the consequences of eating out. We chose a steak house because of the higher chance of clean eating. Our measley meal of meat and brocs plus a small bottle of San Pellegrino each came to $95.00 including tips, so we were hoping for a more positive experience with some accommodation to our dietry requirements. read more

My husband treated me to my second night of birthday celebration at this restaurant. I must say that the server, Kevin, was very nice, attentive and friendly. All of the food was very tasty! The filet steak was tender and delicious. The shrimp had a great flavor and texture. The mac & cheese was wonderful, and the sweet potato fries were yummy! Honestly I thought after the experience I had the other night I wouldn't touch this place again but Julian and Jock were the most redeeming factors for this restaurant. They gave us great service, both lively characters and just someone, you would want to be around. They paid no troubles to our concerns. First thing I want to say is fix your online picking up system, if there is a certain time, you can't take orders or whatever it may be don't let the order go through letting us think that we have an order ready 9pm then have it switch times to the next day. So fast to take the money for things you don't have or can't serve. Now first things first when we went inside the hostess had us standing there for 10 minutes before we had to say something. Even then the hostess proceeded to ignore us after another guy pointed out that we were talking to her and she goes "I didn't even notice". When we first place the order, it told us 9pm and then when we got there it told us 11amTOMORROW. The server I tried to get attention to multiple times continue her conversation about how she's has too much to do with the other guy at the bar, who clearly saw me standing behind her to get her attention. When she finally turned around she tried to walk around me and away. To which I brought the attention to the problem. They didn't have the order but we checked the location and the info that it was correct plus it still charged us on our end. Then a tall looking white guy with a beard whom I assumed to be a manager proceeded to tell us that if we dont have a manager proceeded to tell us that if we dont have a confirmation email there is nothing he could do. Which I understood but instead of trying to figure out how to resolve the problem, this guy just walks away to do something us like screw us. So we decided to just reorder through there and sit at the bar. One of the young men there tried to help us out but we figured they were just going to tell us to piss off like before so we told him not to bother but he still went to check, thank goodness for him. The same manager came out and told us the same thing but added we never got the order so it'll be refunded at the end of the night, which he could've told us to begin with instead of there's nothing I can do and walk away. Then he tries to shoo me off at the bar by repeating himself again. I told him I understand what he said so I would like to order now, since y'all couldn't do anything through a computer right. Online I ordered the ribs and the pecan pudding and then I tried to order the same thing just for them to tell me they don't have the pudding. He rushed me the entire time and treated me like I was stupid when the experience as a whole was extremely unprofessional and we paid again. Salt grass as a whole is good overall for what you are paying. But I do agree w some other reviewers that the quality of the beef or maybe the cooks have gone down. On this visit, the service was pretty good for how crowded it was. We had a party of 5 and didn't seem to be waiting too long at any point. I got the usual lunch pats ribeye. Going back to what I said above, quality of meat just doesn't seem like what it used to be, that or my taste has changed. Had a Caesar and a baked potato w it!
