We stopped in on Friday afternoon while in the area. There were four of us in our group and we just wanted a quick bite to eat and some drinks. We were seated quickly, but after about 5 minutes we had to go back to hostess station as we had not been waited on. All the servers were walking by us like we were invisible. Finally, one of the male servers waited on us and we put in an order for drinks and apps. Our choices for apps were the Range Rattlers, Tenderloin Bites, Fried Mozzarella and Onion Rings. Visiting Vegas for a week to get away from L.A. heatwave (just kidding). For a steakhouse, Saltgrass does not have very good steaks. Top sirloin looks appetizing enough, but when you cut into it it's hard as a rock (not medium rare as ordered). I suspect it was not properly salted (which would make any cheaper or non dry-aged cut of beef taste great.) This is one of the few cases where a steak actually tasted better with ketchup Lol. The cheeseburger, on the other hand, was lovely -- perfectly grilled with nice flavor and char -- an excellent restaurant burger for $20. No complaint about the service. We got a table in the 'pool room' with great views. Next time will try Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse which serves dry-aged steaks preferred by steak connoisseurs. Golden Nugget Casino is conveniently located in downtown Vegas, adjacent to the Fremont Street Experience and the unique 'Container Park', a shopping plaza where the businesses are housed inside repurposed shipping containers. read more

We got seated immediately, which was nice. We didn't pay attention but after about 10 minutes we had to ask for service. Turns out the hostess didn't tell anyone to serve us? So the hostess was about to take our order, but a server took over. After we ordered, it took some while but we got our waters and free bread. I watched a couple with a baby who sat after us order and get their food.... Another while and I got my side Cesar salad. I enjoyed that. The couple finished their dinner and left. The waiter saw we still didn't have our food so he said he would check on it. About 50 minutes at this restaurant and still no food. By 55 minutes the manager finally comes and explained that the ticket never went through. But if it didn't go through, then how did I get my salad? They asked if we wanted to wait for our food. What??? That sounds like they still haven't even cooked it. By this time, it's already past 11, their closing time. So we left. When we asked for the manager, they brought a hostess. The hostess seemed like she couldn't care less if we waited or left. Now that I think about it, there was no actual apology. Just an explanation of why it wasn't each person's fault. The food was good, the restaurant is a little busy from the casino traffic, and the restroom is located outside of the restaurant. Our waiter was not great - he didn't seem to like his job, or that he had to work on a Saturday night. After we paid the bill, we mentioned it to the manager and he didn't really seem to care, noting that our waiter was one of their best. If that's their best, they can keep it. While the food was good, I don't really enjoy spending money to be treated poorly. No refills, almost 20 minutes to get a to-go box, and he didn't check on us at all after our food was delivered. We found Saltgrass Stakehouse on the first night of a recent trip to Vegas and had a wonderful experience. Located inside the Golden Nugget, it is easily accessible from anywhere in the Freemont Street area by foot. We initially went because they have gluten sensitive menu options which was necessary for some members of our dining party. Our amazing server was Tony, who took great care of us. Food and drinks were reasonably priced for Last Vegas, drinks were strong, and the food was good. We had such a good time joking and laughing with Tony that we ended up coming back every day of our long weekend trip and requesting his area every time. Each time we came back we brought new people, and they were all as charmed by the restaurant and service as we were. The staff handled gluten sensitive meals, split plates, and split checks gracefully and efficiently. We also got to know another server, Katrina, over the course of our visits and she was similarly fantastic. She took great care of us for our last meal (breakfast) at Saltgrass and made sure to steer us toward the best menu items. The manager was accessible and engaging, and we had a number of good interactions with his as well. This restaurant seems to have great staff who stick around. All of our servers had been working there for many years. We will definitely be back on our return trips to Vegas. read more

Had a decent experience at Saltgrass Steak House. The restaurant itself is pretty cool, especially the huge window facing the swimming pool which gave the place a nice atmosphere. We ordered the Steak & Eggs and a Medium Rare Ribeye with asparagus and a side of shrimp. Unfortunately, both steaks were overcooked. I asked for medium rare but mine came out medium, while my friend's ribeye came out well done and pretty chewy. The sides were fine, but for a steakhouse, the steaks should really be cooked correctly. Service was okay, nothing bad but nothing memorable either. It was our first time here. The service was a 3 out of 5. The food was a 4. I ordered the filet mignon, my daughter ordered the NY Strip Steak. I had a loaded baked potato, she had the mashed potatoes. I thought the sides were kind of small. There is bread served with the meal, you don't have to ask for it. I like my meat with a little bit of pink, asked for medium well, but it was a little rare for my taste. We also had glasses of Sangria which were very refreshing. We had a reservation at 6:30. The dining room was comfortable and fully wheelchair accessible, which I really appreciated. Food-wise, the Cajun ribeye and Porterhouse were disappointing. For a steakhouse at this price point, I expected juicy, flavorful cuts, but neither delivered. The ribs were much better--tender and truly fell off the bone. We also tried the crispy fried shrimp, but the breading was too heavy for our taste. Next time I'd go with grilled. Now for the best part: dessert. The carrot cake and cheesecake were both excellent and definitely worth saving room for. Overall: great service, solid atmosphere, but the steaks didn't live up to expectations. I decided to take time for myself so I decided to have a meal at Salt Grass. I was greeted by Katrina who was kind and took my order after asking if i was ready. I was. Then I ordered a chicken sandwich to which I modified by adding extras like Jalapeño and extra pickles. Sweet potato fries were hot and crunchy. Loved it. This is a Landrys owned brand within the Golden Nugget. I found this restaurant to be an excellent dining establishment. RESTAURANT: The restaurant was decked out in authentic Texas barbecue and Southwest-style decor, and it makes you look forward to the meal that would be presented to you......starting with the warm bread and butter that comes out first. PRICE: The prices are moderate and what you'd expect; however, I did notice that some of the appetizers were priced higher than expected. SERVICE: The service was attentive, professional, and considerate, making the overall experience worth it. FOOD (The important part!) The ribs and chicken were particularly delicious, while the appetizers were satisfactory but did not stand out. We just discovered this place while walking thru Golden Nugget casino . And I'm glad we did . We made dinner reservations and we arrived on time and was seated right away . Menu selections were great as there were many choices for appetizers... meat and seafood entrees etc. we ordered two appetizers...Spinach /artichoke dip .. Fried Mushrooms and for the entree .. we ordered one 16oz Ribeye with side of Fried Green Beans . Everything was delicious!!! Portions were very generous. We couldn't finish it all . We came here on a Thursday night and it was packed. We didn't have reservations but they were able to fit us in and seat us in a couple of minutes. We were in the main dinning room. We were brought water right away but after that we were ready to order but had to wait for the waitress to come by. It was pretty packed yet I saw two of the waitress just standing by the ordering registers and talking several times while we were eating. They take orders but don't do anything else. They have a finisher come with your meal and not the original waitress. Also they don't clear plates , I guess the busboy does that. The waitress took our order but when my friend had some questions she seemed annoyed like she wanted to put in our order and just leave us. I go the boneless ribeye and the 12 ounce. When it came it looked really thin like a Denny's steak. I asked if this was right and she said it was. Very bad looking for a steakhouse piece of steak. It did taste good at least. We had a late lunch at Salt Grass in the Gold Coast and it was sparsely populated by patrons. We had rhe chicken fried chicken meal and just under $30. It was a decent chicken friend chicken, portion was fair, gravey was under portioned, but the most disappointing was the fact a near $30 meal comes with one side. The steaks were overpriced, but cheaper than Vic & Anthony's if you want that as your bar. Service was good, and I love the room next to the pool. It is neat and diffuser rhe sound well for a pleasant meal. I would not get breakfast here. read more

Excellent Service - Bad Ribeye. Well, my 'go-to' for any dinner place is a good Ribeye steak - medium rare. Of all the many ribeye's I have had, this was unfortunately the worst ever. the steak was very thin, and although properly cooked for medium rare, it was very tough to cut and tougher to eat. At first I thought they gave me a dull knife... nope, just a really tough cut of meat. Competitively priced, and on a moderately busy Wednesday evening, I expected much better. The service was very good, the greeter and waitstaff did a superb job, this was not their fault. When I mentioned to the server that the steak was possibly the toughest ribeye I ever had, he was very apologetic and offered to get the manager for me. I told him that it was not his fault and that I did not really need to talk to the manager. A minute later the manager walked up and said "I understand that you asked for the manager?" I told him that I did not ask for the manager and this issue was not the server's fault, just a really bad cut of meat... largely inedible. The manager apologized and said that he would tell the chef and that he would be happy to discount my dinner, took the plate and walked away. The fried mushrooms were awesome. They had great tasting light breading and there was a lot of them. Burger, fried chicken sandwich were also very good. The fries were crisp and hot. Smoked Mac and cheese had a good flavor. Everything was good but the steak. The problem was it was really tough. It should have been served with a side of dental floss. When I side something about it to the waiter he just rolled his eyes. If your place is a steakhouse the super star should be the steak. Sorry but a tough select strip should be tender. read more
