I might have sat outside if not for the two dudes smoking all the weed they possibly could right outside the door as they leaned against their rental. It was pretty rude. We shared the all star breakfast with the griddle cakes, eggs bacon sausage and a biscuit. My only note on the food is that the bacon was super fatty and I could only eat half of each slice. And that the coffee was sooooo bitter. All in all, a good experience. Finally got to try Salt's Cure after repeatedly reading about their 'pancakes' (please note they are not actually pancakes, they're griddle cakes) on Reddit. I do think they're phenomenal, and that dish alone justified trying this spot at least once. However, I'd almost treat them like potato pancakes: not the same thing as standard American pancakes and shouldn't be compared as such. Griddle cakes have a crispy outside, molten center, and molasses/cinnamon butter, so no syrup. We also got the avocado toast and ordered some additional breakfast staples a la carte. Biggest con is their menu is surprisingly limited. There's no standard bacon, eggs, hash/toast type of option beyond ordering a la carte which added up real quick. Everything here felt a bit too pricy for brunch. That being said, everything but the hash browns was excellent. We didn't have any problems with service either (as some reviewers have described) and sat without any wait at 10 am on a Saturday. I'd come back here once in a blue moon when I'm craving a sweet breakfast for the griddle cakes. Otherwise, it's just a little too expensive to make this my new staple brunch spot. I came here to have brunch with some friends who absolutely love this place and I can see why. It's quite a delightful restaurant! Upon walking in, you'll notice that the restaurant is very open and airy and you have a choice of sitting in a enclosed cozy patio area, at one of the tables inside, at a bar or at a long communal table. I heard so much about their oatmeal griddle cakes so I got those and figured it would be a light brunch since I wasn't having any sausages or bacon with it. I was wrong. These griddle cakes are quite hearty and so tasty! When they were served to me, I was expecting to get a side of maple syrup to pour over them but my friends told me that the molasses butter was all that I needed. I was skeptical at first but after the first bite I realized I was wrong. It was just the perfect amount of sweetness! My friends were telling me that Salt's Cure sells the mix for these griddle cakes but for some reason my friends could never get the griddle cakes to turn out the same way the restaurant serves them. My guess is the restaurant cooks them on the same surface they cook the bacon and sausage on so they're using a lot of that grease to get the griddle cakes crispy on the edges yet soft and fluffy on the inside. If that's not the case, then they're using a generous amount of oil to cook them in to get them crispy. Whatever it is, these griddle cakes are so delicious. Maybe the next time I'm there for brunch, I'll build up my appetite and get their All Star breakfast that has the sausage, bacon, eggs and the oatmeal griddle cakes! read more

Although I'm not a fan of Food Network personality/chef Bobby Flay, I did see the show he did with his daughter (a USC alum) where they came here for breakfast. I was actually staying closer to the West Hollywood branch of Breakfast by Salt's Cure (which also has locations in Santa Monica plus 2 in New York), but came here to Salt's Cure because it has a larger menu, more seating and takes reservations. They open at 9 am for breakfast; I was the first customer. Signage outside is small and easily missed. Several of the adjacent buildings say "Bond" on them; my waitress said they are a large entertainment marketing agency. Salt's Cure is famous for their griddle cakes; here they only serve the original version, while Breakfast by SC has about 9 varieties including vegan options. I ordered the most bountiful breakfast, the All Star, which includes 2 sausages, 2 bacon (I think I got 3-4), 2 eggs, a biscuit with jam and 2 OG griddle cakes. I added their hash browns with slow n' low ketchup, plus half an avocado with chili salt. Everything was delish and substantial. The meats are house-made, as are the biscuit, jam, hash browns and ketchup. The griddle cakes come with a molasses cinnamon butter and NO syrup (don't even ask for it!). I'm not sure if the bacon here is the same as at Breakfast by SC, because there they call it picnic ham. And the hash browns, gorgeous thick fried wedges, seem exclusive to SC; Breakfast by SC has home fries. Service was just okay, despite the lack of customers, but I would return. The bacon was a little too strong of a pork taste for me, but cooked really well. Sausage was delicious. The biscuit was nothing special, but it was really flaky, a bit oily on the outside for me too. The hash browns were interesting. A bit oily and come with their house ketchup called "low and slow" which tastes more savory, like a homemade bbq sauce without the sweetness. I would have preferred the offer regular ketchup to balance out the salt and oil in the hash brown, but alas, they don't. This is a really rich restaurant and clearly isn't concerned with full fat, but - but too rich for my blood. Breakfast will run you about $25 minimum. Add on a fresh juice, tea or coffee and you are at a whopping $35. I would more quickly try one of the other restaurants in the area for these prices. read more

Went because of the TikTok recommendations. There's definitely a California-New American vibe going on. Split between two people, the All Stars Breakfast and Sunflower Crunch Salad were enough to make us satisfied. Everything was very nuanced and light in flavors, which is great if that is what you're going for! The salad definitely needs working on. It just tasted like vegetables, and we mixed the biscuit jam in it to create a more tangy flavor. The biscuits were lovely light buttery things :) Overall, the oatmeal griddle pancakes seems like the only thing I'd go back for. As we finished ordering, people were waiting for tables. We got lucky! I love a simple menu and love it when the food comes out like it's farm to table style. You order a burger and you get a burger. Usual pancakes always gives the toughness but the griddle pancakes give bit more texture and it was delicious. The scrambled eggs look nothing special. They just look like typical scrambled eggs. Yes, everything they say about the pancakes is true. I'm 43 years old, I've had a pancake in my life, how impressive can they be. iMPRESSIVE. Like melt in your mouth, go back three days later and take your friends delicious. And no they don't serve syrup and there's a very good reason. We showed up to Salts Cure on Christmas Eve in the best mood and ready for a great meal. The two waitresses both made sure to suck the good energy out of the room as soon as we sat. Bad attitudes - rolling eyes and all around annoyed that anyone had shown up. I ordered an espresso martini and the girl let out a sigh of grief. I came here because I love the pancakes. My friends flew out for my birthday . I was so embarrassed that I talked this place up so much. The service was horrible. From the way they barely greeted our group of 8 when we came in to the way they interacted with us at the table. Our server was so dismissive , no eye contact and one of the worst experiences I'd ever had dining. Yes folks the TikToks are indeed correct, the OG (Oatmeal Griddlecakes) are amazing! I was a little skeptical at first as oat pancakes just sound too healthy for me personally but I was dead wrong The edges are deliciously crispy with centers fluffy and light. The cinnamon sugar butter dollops melt across the top creating an overall heavenly bite. Might be one of my new favorite pancakes in all of LA! Honorable mentions go to the crispy hash browns with homemade (wow) ketchup and the salmon toast both were perfect savories to complement the sweetness of the OG pancakes. My only notes are that I wish there were a couple more drink offerings that expanded past the cocktails, tea, and coffee. The menu would really benefit from a full barista offering! read more
