Checked out the deli as it is up the street from Trader Joe's. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Food was fresh and fun twists here and there. I really like the Jewish crush that's on the table with the bagel. It's not super spicy but adds a nice crush and kick. We went on a Friday morning and there were a decent amount of people. Coffee was nicely done!! Really enjoyed it. I could imagine coming back with a friend for some coffee and light brunch. Also, the black and white cookie is amazing!! The part of chocolate chip cookie I don't enjoy too much is having too much chocolate. But this cookie is the perfect mixture of making just the cookie part and having a top layer of chocolate on top that makes it such a good balance of chocolate to cookie ratio. The cookie itself is a mix of cookie but going closer to cake? You Gatta try it. Cheers!

I was driving down La Brea and was hungry so I thought hey I'm gonna go try Mish. wow was it great! I had the incredible huge cheese blintzes! I think the best i ever had. They have abit of lemon in them and came with fresh Blueberry sauce on top and a few pistachios on top! I was full after one so took the other one home. Can't wait to go back and try another dish! On the news they just raved about their unique bagels and smoked salmon! Very cool environment. Wide open with long tables, a expresso and drink bar. You order at a counter filled with yummy food.

If you're a deli fan, do yourself a favor and make the trip to Mish. Chef Eric Greenspan has created something special. I've eaten at some legendary spots over the years; Zingerman's in Michigan, the old Jerry's Deli, and Philippe's in Los Angeles, and Mish deserves to be mentioned in the same conversation. That's not praise I hand out lightly. From the moment you walk in, the place feels right. It's spotless, with soaring vaulted ceilings, classic red-and-white tile floors, a long deli counter buzzing with activity, and plenty of seating that somehow balances old-school deli charm with a fresh, modern feel. I stopped by on Saturday morning (6/20), and the place was absolutely packed. That's usually a great sign, and this time it delivered. I ordered the Pastrami Reuben, and it was phenomenal. Thick slices of smoky pastrami, melted Swiss, tangy sauerkraut, and just the right amount of dressing, all pressed between perfectly grilled rye bread. The crunchy deli pickles alongside were the perfect complement, adding that classic deli snap that completed every bite. The staff kept things moving despite the crowd, and the entire experience exceeded expectations. Eric Greenspan has a winner on his hands. Mish has officially earned a spot on my short list of elite delis, and I'll definitely be back. This place is the real deal.

    * The Pastrami on Challah Bread with Mish Mustard was incredible - the sponginess of the bread allowed the juices from the delicious, pull-apart pastrami to soak in, all while being enveloped with the special sweet, tangy Mish Mustard * The Weiser Farms Potato Salad was a tasty blend that was chunky yet creamy, while the Lemon Halva was very delightful and refreshing - it was almost like drinking a lemon cookie * Overall, an extraordinary spot with friendly staff that makes you feel like family, a wide variety of food that definitely warrants more than one visit, and easily one of the best places for pastrami in L.A.

New Jewish and Mediterranean style deli with such great food and coffee! Everything was top tier, and well executed. The latte I got didn't need syrup or sugar it was perfect, tasted like Israel- just good espresso! Ambience was well thought out, and had an upscale deli vibe that we need here in LA. Delis, take notes! Excellent service all around from the moment we walked in to when we ordered tk offering water and a see you soon when we left. Highly recommend!

Felt like we just loved to stand in line like most folks in LA who just couldn't wait to try out hot and new spots LOL. There we were lined up for Mish, spending good 40 minutes till we could place our orders and another good 15 minutes wait till the orders were ready. Kinda understandable given it's Sunday and still their early opening days. The place was pretty huge, giving me a chic canteen vibes with many long communal table for sharing. It's relatively easy to find a seat; it was the wait for being able to place your order itself that took the longest. They did have plenty of staffs working in the kitchen and they all looked extremely busy. Would say once online pre-order's available, that would be amazing. Also probably the bakery spot could be made more efficient. So you could either place order for bakery item there or at the dine-in order kiosk then picking up there, which made it confusing as the staff kept taking new orders placed there, putting those who tried to pick up their orders on hold till we kinda spoke up. We got their Pastrami Reuben, the picture perfect of tender pastrami meeting melty cheese and kraut on a tasty grilled rye bread. Those pastrami certainly stole my heart by how flavorful it was. I did enjoy pairing them to the chili oil provided on the table, but this was certainly personal preference. We also got their chocolate babka, following everyone's reco. Not sure if ours was tad dry as the loaf had been sliced half and displayed for awhile, but I would certainly give it a 5 stars should it be more moist. The chocolate was generously served, giving luscious taste, and certainly good quality one. We would def come back to try out the brisket or one of the bagels, but probably wait a bit till the hype toned down.

I believe this used to be the former space of Odys and Penelope a forgotten, but fantastic restaurant. Eric Greenspan honors the former tenants by bringing some awesome food. This is a higher end up scale deli. They serve booze. Parking. Well there's street parking. Metered and neighborhood. Which should work nicely as their hours are in the confines of neighborhood limits. Food. Getting in I was suffering anxiety on what to get. I wanted to try everything, but decided on a bagel with cheese and brisket. The bagel was what you would expect, but the combination of brisket, cheese, and their chili crunch was the perfect marriage of flavors. It was a pricey sandwich, but don't regret it. The true noteworthy items I got and am still dreaming about is the Mensch iced coffee and the black and white cookie. I know it's basic, but the black and white cookie was out of this world. The chocolate side was nice and tempered and not overly sweet, but the white side countered it with this gradual sweetness that would build up with each chew. The frosting gives off this amazing mouth feel when chewing, almost like wax melting into your tongue to coat it. The space is huge and such an interesting mix of people. Some people eating, some working on their laptops while nursing beverages, and others people watching. It's a fun environment and I can only imagine this being a hot spot to work in the future. Loved it. It's pricey, but you get what you pay for.

This place literally just opened like a day ago, and honestly what they did with the space is amazing. It's beautiful inside. Like immediately one of those spots where you walk in and start looking around before even thinking about the food. That said... I have no idea what this place is going to feel like once it gets REALLY busy, which it definitely will very soon. Right now you can't order ahead for pickup (yet), so you have to physically go there and order in person. Which honestly isn't the worst thing because the space is nice to be inside of. But the setup is a little confusing at first. You walk in and the cafe/bar area is immediately to your right, which makes you think that's where you order, but then you actually have to walk deeper into the space toward the kitchen counter. And on the way there you pass all the bakery shelves which look incredible... but I already started wondering what happens once there's a huge line packed through there because all those pastries are just sitting uncovered. I can absolutely picture somebody reaching over and grabbing babka with their bare hands while waiting in line. Which yes, I did buy babka. And a black-and-white cookie. The staff is also VERY attentive right now because everyone's still learning the ropes. They basically guide you through the whole process. If you're ordering takeout, you don't really use the Toast tablets yourself -- you stand there and tell them what you want while they enter it for you. Which is actually kinda nice compared to places that ignore you while you poke around a tablet yourself trying to figure out the menu. At the same time... sometimes I want to browse around on the tablets myself like a menu, but there's only two of them, so I can already see that slowing down badly once crowds start forming and people forget how ordering systems work. I'm also still not fully sure how dine-in works versus pickup because right now everything still feels brand new and in soft-opening mode. But honestly you SHOULD eat there because the space itself is worth hanging around in. There's also an upstairs area with records and a vinyl player visible if you look up there, which makes me really curious what their long-term vibe is going to be. Listening parties? Guest DJs? Staff-controlled music? Feels like there's bigger plans coming. Food-wise: this is NOT the place for giant sloppy deli sandwiches like Katz's or Canter's where you can barely fit the thing in your mouth. The cuts here are cleaner and definitely higher quality. But when I got my sandwich I was a little let down by the actual size, especially for the price. Also -- pickles are apparently extra. Which threw me off because I looked in the bag and immediately went "wait where are the pickles?" I'm just used to them automatically sitting next to pastrami. Everything tasted great quality-wise though. I did get a few gristly/fatty bites I couldn't chew through that my cat ended up enjoying more than me. I'll also admit I walked in already emotional because I found out Burgers 99 is gone, which honestly really bummed me out since I'd been going there for years. Still... I'm excited to come back once this place fully settles into itself and see what it becomes when it's running at full speed.

I just went to Eric Greenspan's new deli, Mish, and I can't tell you the last time I had pastrami this good. This place is a goldmine, located at First and La Brea. Mish only opened yesterday and already has lifelong fans. The moment I walked in, I was reminded of New York's iconic Katz's Delicatessen--but with a more polished, modern feel. (and a full bar!) The bakery case alone is worth the trip. We opted for the black-and-white cookies: beautiful mounds of happiness, featuring sugar cookies topped with salted dark chocolate and Madagascar vanilla. We may have devoured one before our sandwiches even arrived. The line was long, so we expected a wait, but it moved quickly and efficiently. Along the way, there were generous samples of roast turkey, brisket, and pastrami. I may have gone back for more than one sample--but let's keep that between us. It's hard to believe Mish had only been open for a day. The operation already runs at an expert level, and everything felt smooth and seamless. We ordered the Pastrami Reuben, piled high with hand-carved pastrami--and yes, it absolutely makes a difference--along with Swiss cheese, Russian dressing, fennel kraut, and schmaltz-grilled rye bread. That sandwich disappeared embarrassingly fast. We also tried the Tuna Melt, which was our second favorite. It featured lemon-dill tuna salad, New School American and Swiss cheese (top-quality melting cheeses made with exceptional ingredients), all served on schmaltz-grilled rye. Comfort food at its finest. What else can I say? I loved Eric Greenspan's Greenspan's Grilled Cheese, and now I love Mish. If this is what they're serving on day two, I can't wait to see what comes next.

Absolutely amazing. This was our first time trying Mish and it definitely won't be our last. We ordered the Reuben on rye and the Cobb salad, which you can get chopped and tossed in the poppy seed dressing. The carved pastrami on the Reuben was seriously the best I've had in LA. It was so tender, flavorful, and packed with meat. The Cobb salad was just as good. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and we added grilled chicken, which was cooked perfectly. The poppy seed dressing was so delicious and brought the whole salad together. You also have to try the Dirty Matcha and the Pomegranate Iced Green Tea. Both were so refreshing and the perfect addition to the meal. The service was outstanding and the vibes were definitely there. Great food, great drinks, and an all around great experience. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu.

I was really excited to check this place out since I love a great deli and it's close to home. The space itself is amazing and beautifully designed. It's filled with great energy. They even have meat samples while you wait in line, which is a fantastic touch. My only real issue was the ordering process. You have to wait in line and order once you get to the front, and it took soooo long because all the people ahead of me simply weren't ready. It felt like almost every single person in front of me reached the counter and only then started asking questions and figuring out what they wanted. It was extremely frustrating, and we almost left. Thankfully, the food saved the day. I ordered a full (8oz) pastrami sandwich with Swiss and mustard. I'm not a Thousand Island fan because I like to actually taste the meat, and this pastrami did not disappoint it's hand-sliced and honestly some of the best I've had in town. My only disappointment with the sandwich was that it didn't come with pickles; you have to pay extra for them. Every other deli gives you a free pickle with your sandwich, and I really hope they change this policy. On a brighter note, they have an amazing cocktail menu. I've never had a cocktail in a deli before, but the margarita variation I ordered was absolutely incredible. Overall, a great lunch! I'll definitely be back, but I really hope they find a way to improve the ordering flow and start throwing a pickle on the plate.

Came here today around 1 PM. There was not much of a line and a few tables were available, but it was still a full house. The space is a really nice blend of New York deli culture with a laid back Los Angeles atmosphere, which I thought was a unique take on the deli concept. I appreciated the natural light and old school touches like the mustard and hot sauce on the tables, while still leaving room for newer additions like the house chili oil, which felt very LA and was a nice touch. Like many others, I was influenced to come after seeing countless TikToks comparing this place to heavy hitters like Katz's, Langer's, and some of New York's most iconic delis. My friend and I ordered the hand carved Reuben for $29 instead of the $26 chopped version, along with the wood fired bagel topped with smoked salmon, horseradish cream cheese, shaved onions, and capers. The food took about 25 minutes to come out. Ordering is done through kiosks and your food is brought to the table. I actually liked that system. It felt less hectic than balancing trays through a packed deli. For the size and the price, I thought the portions leaned a little small, although I was splitting everything with my friend, so I ended up with half of the sandwich and half of the bagel. I started with the Reuben because of all the praise it gets, but unfortunately my pastrami was extremely tough. I mean the kind of tough that was difficult to tear apart with my hands, let alone my teeth. What looked like a beautifully assembled sandwich quickly turned into something else on my plate as I tried to work through it. The appearance was definitely deceiving because once I took a bite, it honestly felt like chewing jerky. Since I could barely enjoy the pastrami itself, I never really got the chance to appreciate whether the sandwich came together as a whole. Most bites just tasted like tough meat with sauerkraut and dressing. Thankfully, the bagel was much more enjoyable. I liked the quality of the bagel, although I personally prefer the taller New York style. The smoked salmon did not particularly stand out to me and reminded me more of a good quality grocery store smoked salmon. The house cured gravlax looked much more interesting, and I would probably order that if I came back. I also think I would have preferred slightly thicker onion slices. With such a thin bagel, I think having a little more onion texture would have worked well, although that is completely personal preference. It also may have felt different had I eaten it as one closed sandwich instead of open faced. Overall, I was disappointed that neither my friend nor I really got to enjoy the Reuben. We both looked at each other after a few bites because the sandwich seemed to be fighting us more than we were enjoying it. Looking back, I almost wish I had ordered the chopped version simply because it may have been easier to eat. Would I come back? Maybe, but not anytime soon. What really stood out to me was watching the chef behind the concept working alongside his team, talking with customers, carving meat, serving food, and genuinely representing what he has built. It was clear that he cares about the restaurant and takes pride in it. That more than anything else is what would make me want to give this place another chance.

Wow factor breakfast!! Love this new neighborhood spot. Ambiance is just gorgeous and service is all very friendly and helpful. Came on a Wednesday so it was quieter (not a busy weekend) but it was amazing. We will be back / I think this is also a great place to bring out of towners.

For THIS is not the Margherita one familiarly recognizes as the artistic minimalistic masterpiece a proper Neapolitan Margherita MUST BE! I am starting to get anxious, angsty, and now a bit ANGRY! what a fool I was! Instead I am misled into chow down mode to consume a Godzilla-sized molten mess of mossy dry basil haphazardly strewn about to and fro across the pie, resembling katsuo bonito flakes dancing around in the disarray of their differential dehydration! Inexplicably, jagged rows of somewhat square Roma tomatoes are lined up in lazy formations like a disorganized military company. What's more, the gooey globs of mozzarella are NOT expertly anchored down to the bed of cheese below, supposed to cling to the pie while providing just enough protruding relief like an old globe map with a mountain range rising above the horizon. Nope, they are instead here and there and almost everywhere, seemingly untethered to the matrix of cheese below, chaotically floating around like slightly rectangular glops of pale possible goodness?!!? JT, hold it together, you must attack this mess while it's still hot. Beep Beep! THE LIGHT HAS TURNED GREEN MANY SECONDS AGO! Get thee to the Arroyo! Minutes later, I'm at my perch. I bite into the unruly beast. I am pleasantly greeted by a most satisfying CRUNCH! Then a chewy tug-tremendous! Then the mass of basil flakiness flying through my mouth and down the hatch, chased by those deeeelish misshapen untethered white cubes o' cheesiness charging down my throat aside tons of tumbling tomatoes! It's an absolute avalanche of WOW! It's like there's a party in my mouth, and the most unlikely heroes showed up and showed out! Let's add the Unconventional Neapolitanical Pizzas of Lincoln Heights to the Lovefest List! Heights DABS, you've made my day. On to meet up with long lost friends converging in HP from nearby points dearly loved, I'm feelin' GRRRREEEEAT! DONE.

See *Established in 1925, it's a beloved local institution known for its high-quality Italian groceries, fresh-made sandwiches, and extensive selection of deli salads and pasta dishes, with an outdoor patio for seating* To me and so many of us westsiders, IT IS SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT STATEMENT! Highly recommended!!! Be patient ;)))

Bay Cities is hands down the best deli in Los Angeles. We've been ordering from them for years, but…read moretoday was our first time visiting in person, and it exceeded every expectation. Everyone who works there is incredibly kind and welcoming, treating customers like family. As someone with celiac disease, I always order their lettuce-wrapped sandwiches, and they are phenomenal. The buffalo chicken is especially delicious. Their pepper poppers are my all-time favorite snack. I always order extra so I can keep the fridge stocked. Beyond the deli, the market itself is exceptional. The selection of groceries is one of the most thoughtfully curated collections of products I've ever seen. Skip Erewhon. Go to Bay Cities. It's a Los Angeles institution for a reason.
