Yelp led us here for a pre-theater meal, and I couldn't have enjoyed my meal more. The owner greeted us like long lost friends despite being our first time dining here. The black beans, chips & salsa were a tasty start to the meal. All three plates were huge and came with rice, beans and salad. The grilled shrimp was perfectly cooked with Salvadorian seasoning and laid on top of the sweetest grilled onions ever. The Salvadorian grill was enough food to feed a small village. The star of the table was the steak cooked in tomatoes with the masa tortillas that are cooked to order. The restaurant felt like visiting friends and is now high on our list of places to visit again. Loved the music playing, too. read more

I ordered the Salvador parrillada, and some popusas mixtas. Everything was delicious, the beef and the shrimp on the parrillada were delicious. The popusas were very good as well. I ordered a dozen for $21.00 on the uber app for my lunch. I am really disappointed in this restaurant because the reviews were great and so I trusted everything would've turned out good. I was very much wrong...the and flavors of the pupusas, salsa & curtido were non existent. No flavor in the chicharrón parts of the revuelta pupusas and the only thing that did have flavor only were the beans and cheese inside. Very disappointed in the pork nonexistent flavor. The salsa only tasted like tomato sauce with no flavor or salt. Just bland tomato sauce. The curtido was soaked in watered down vinegar and the curtido was just soggy and wet with no flavor. No salt again not even a single taste or oregano and I did see a little but of red paper flakes and no flavors were coming through at all. For authentic restaurants like these especially Hispanic restaurants I expect real flavors and this place is just not giving that at all ! I'm so disappointed in my people and this restaurant. You need to be better and raise those standards of authentic cuisine. No flavors. read more

I got their Plato Típico, the portions were a good size and it's a great option for sharing. The pupusas and cortido were fantastic and hands down the best part of the meal, savory and busting with flavor. The chicken tamal was pretty good but could've used a bit more chicken and there was a big chunk of potato in it and the corn tamal should be offered as a dessert with a sweet sauce. This is by far my favorite Salvadoran restaurant. You can't get any more authentic than this. I came here just to have 3 pupusas and every bite was worth it. The pupusas comes with two salsas and the cabbage dish (I'm not sure what its name is in Spanish). But all that is delicious! The bean and cheese is by far my favorite but the pork and cheese and plain cheese are good as well. This restaurant is located in a busy shopping plaza so it may be easy to miss. There is plenty of parking and customer service is excellent. It is a small restuarant and I noticed a lot of people ordered take out which is okay but the restaurant it self is very clean and orderly. Damn good pupusas. Everything you would want with ordering a pupusa right here. The pork cheese and bean were the best ones! Thick, cheesy, with plenty of flavor. I should have asked for salsa rojo or verde but definitely next time. Although its just filler, I really enjoyed the black beans from here (especially the cheese added on top). The shirmp in garlic sauce is not bad by any means, but mostly not worth it due to the price point. They give you a GIANT box of rice with about 7 shrimp. The shrimp taste as expected, but theres nothing special about them. They arent charcoal grilled, coconut breaded, blackened, fried, or even seared. Just regular ol' shrimp for 13 bucks. I'll have to try more things from the menu but for now its definitely worth checking out. read more

My review is based off of what I have eaten so far. I got the passion fruit drink it was so refreshing. I actually got full off of the complimentary chips salsa and bean dip so by the time my sampler plate arrived I had no room for the puposa or chicken tamales but the sweet corn tamal and cream was delicious. This "easy to miss" restaurant is located in a plaza that doesn't have much going on. The restaurant has two seating areas. One of the areas looks like it is used for events. The tables in this area had linens on it and the chairs were decorated. It looked like a baby shower was taking place in that room while I was there. I believe they also use this room as an overflow room for the main part of the restaurant. The customer service was great. Despite the language barrier between my party and some of the waiters, we were still accommodated and felt comfortable during our visit. The food was delicious and the portions are huge. There only con was lack of cleanliness. It wasn't dirty but it wasn't clean...you know what I mean. Otherwise, I would recommend this place. Came to Texas for a conference and saw good reviews for this restaurant so we tried it out. In short, one of the best home-y feeling and authentic meals my partner and I have ever had. We're pescatarian and had plenty of options. Everything was fantastic - papusas, plantains (holy), tamales, fried fish (so flavorful). Met an older physician who had been coming for years and thinks this is the most authentic place. The service was also super friendly, got mega topups for our horchata. I got the combination appetizer for lunch, which was a mix of all the most well-known Salvadoran dishes like pupusa, tamales, plantains, and fried yucca. I did not know what pupusas were and was excited to try it. It was like flat bread with pork, beans, and cheese stuffed inside. Though the pupusa was quite good, it came out cold. Out of everything on my plate, I liked the meat tamale the most as it was most tasty. The only other complaint I have is the slow service. It took forever for us to get our food and even longer to receive the check. However, we were part of a large group, so it's a bit understandable. Let me start by saying that I have never tried Salvadorian cuisine, so I can only write based off of this experience as a newbie. The cook really understood beef. It's been marinated and cooked at the perfect temperature to hold in it's juices. I've never known a skirt steak to taste so good! I got the steak and onions and the garlic shrimp. Both of the meats were cooked well, and the onions properly caramelized. Oh you guys....you guys.....you have to try this place. Seriously. There are 3 types of food I consider myself a connoisseur of. BBQ, Burgers, and Mexican food. That being said, I think Salvadorian food is kind of like a cross between Mexican food (no, not Tex-Mex....Mexican. You are in Texas, you should know the difference), and Caribbean/Puerto Rican/Cuban food. We started off with the combination appetizer, and it was huge. Fried yucca, fried plantains (the sweet kind, not like tostones), a tamale, a papusa, and a salad. I could have done with out the salad. The papusa was a bite of delishiousness inside basically a tortilla. How you stuff a tortilla, I don't know, but that is basically what it is. The yucca..yum. The fried plantians...oh, my, God. Could have been desert. The tamale...meh. The meat inside tasted spectacular, but I didn't care for the...I don't know, it would be corn masa in a mexican tamale....but this had a different texture. Almost gelatinous. I didn't care for it. But wait, there's more. We ordered the BBQ...or I believe it was called the parilldas dish. I can't remember, sue me. Forget the name...just get it. You like fajitas? I do. I would eat fajitas for every meal if I could. If these were served with flour tortillas, I would say they are the best fajitas I have ever had. but they only came with 3 corn tortillas, and I am glad, because I got to focus on the protein. Steak, chicken, s link of chorizo, grilled onions. BAM!! It is also served with a side of refried beans and rice...which we didn't even get to because there was SO MUCH FOOD!!! The pupusas are legit, and huge. Best tasting ones I've had in a long time. I like the "revuelta". It has everything (cheese, beans, pork), and you can taste each component. Hard to find in a local shopping center, but it was worth it. We each had the Plato Tipico which come with a potato/chicken tamale, a plain tamale, plantains, yuca, salad & a Papusa. We were used to that style of food but the papusa was new. The horchata was very good. The corridor slaw was great. Salsas great. The food is fresh, had to wait for our plates, but good food is not fast food. The ladies were kneading the masa right there. We were the only non Latino diners in a busy restaurant so you know it was good & authentic. Next time we'll get just 1 Plato and split an entree. The soups looked great, as did the other dishes the waiters were carrying. Only wish they had more English speaking staff who could help explain the menu. Pupusas were mid, i've definitely had better. They offered two different salsas which was good. They brought chips to the table without asking and they charge for it. Also the AC must of been broken it was HOT in there uncomfortably hot. I asked for my drink to be replaced because it was bitter and got charged for two.
