BAD first the young guy with sandy color hair taking our order was so HOMOPHOBIC he took our order and did not see him til he bought the bill. Dissapointed in this place. The pizza looks good in all the pictures but it was not. The crust was very soft and chewy. Not crispy at all. I got two slices to go. They put one on top of the other, and the slice on top was absolutely drenched in grease. The paper plate and was completely orange and stuck to the slice on the bottom. Additionally the slices were five dollars a piece. They are huge slices but I felt like I got ripped off considering a small pizza is $14. Not sure why the guy at the register didn't at least tell me that. This place is kind of like my grandmas house. Not the one that is an excellent cook and treats you like a king, but the one who is annoyed that I even exist. 1.7/5 My brother says try the chicken wings next time. read more

We ended up here after a bartender down the street recommended it. This seems to be the only sports bar on Rainey Street and it is a nice change of pace from the craziness on the rest of the street. We were looking for a place to watch NFL games. Apparently they have the Sunday Ticket so all of the games were playing on the 7 tv's plus a huge projector! They had $15 pitchers and a few other specials going on for the football games. We ordered a large #4 pizza and it was more than enough to feed three hungry guys. It was a fun atmosphere and a friendly staff. Overall we had a great experience and we will stop in here for a bite and a few beers next time we are on the street. read more

Their wing night special is actually on Thursday (75 cents each), but since all apps are half off on Monday, you can get a dozen great wings for $7, which is a great deal considering their on Rainey and everything is pricey. I asked if this was new since I've ordered from them many times in the past. She replied "uh huh" and said goodbye and hung up. No wonder the reviews went from four to two stars in six months. It used to be my favorite place for delivered pizza, but they've been slowly slipping. The last time I got delivery from salvation, I ordered the arrancini and I received two golf ball sized rice balls...they used to be softball sized. Eight dollars. I've lived across the street for years, this place has always had a great neighborhood chill vibe. Obviously being located on Rainey street over-served patrons rear their demanding needs. Normally this is no issue. However, tonight and an older patron came in when I was closing my tab at last call. Staff told him it was already last call and could not serve them. He claimed he called in, but as we all know, (though we wished we could) you can't call in a to-go drink. He was visibly drunk and upset, proceeded to go to the bathroom and starting slamming the bathroom doors. The staff handled these rambunctious patrons the way they should have and refused service. With great customer service, prime location and great tasting pizza's this is one of my top pizza's places in Austin. The pizza is crispy and kinda thin. They have unique flavor combinations like bacon artichoke pizza, which was amazing, aside from the traditional topping options so that is good. Also there appetizers come out fresh and are filling. Moved to Austin last year and struggled to find a good east coast pizza loved via for a different kind of pizza but it's not east coast. New Haven style pizza chain in Austin. The pizza isn't bad and a pie with hamburger (apparently popular in the region as I am told by a former CT native) was good. There's a white clam pizza like the one at Pepe's but honestly I really don't like white pizzas and I would imagine it to be better. I think regional pizza varieties are fine and no one "owns" pizza and innovations. However, this feels less innovative and more like a faded facsimile. Don't get me wrong, the pizza is fine and worth a try. If you like it, it's great that there's a place like this for you across the country. For me though it's a soft pass. Location is nice and the service was good. I would imagine it's proximity to bars is a major plus for locals. read more

First and last time ordering pizza from here. Dominoes or Pizza Hut would have been better and half the price. I got a large pizza with bacon, chicken, and jalepaneo delivered. I live less than a quarter mile from the pizza shop. Pizza took an hour to deliver. It was burnt to the point the bottom was black and the cheese had turned into straight grease. I ordered some sides as well, about 15 min from the pizza arriving I got a call from the pizza shop telling me they forgot to make them and that instead of making them they are going to remove it from my bill. Wtf. How do you call me to tell me you forgot to make my food an hour after I order it and proceed to tell me your not going to make it. The pizza itself might of been good if it wasn't burnt. The toppings were very sparse. Like maybe half a jalepaneo, half a strip of crushed up bacon, and maybe a quarter cup of chicken for a large pizza that was priced at 27 bucks. read more

Wow. How my favorite dining out pizza spot has fallen, and only after a one location expansion. Pizza was burned on the bottom and soggy on the top - I'm not even sure how one does this? What happened to the great crispy thin crust pizza from 34th street? I ordered cheese sticks and the marinara was basically a can of crushed tomatoes poured into a little plastic cup - no garlic, no oregano, no spice. This was the same marinara on the pizza. I might as well have walked over to South Side Flying Pizza and gotten something decent. I'm sure this location will do fine, what with drunken patrons gobbling pizza into the late, late, hours, and they serve beer on tap. Luckily for them, there's a lot of margin in selling beer on tap... Not worth the drive (not to mention the parking), that's for sure. read more

I was so excited for this place to open but it's not good. The service is unbelievably bad which I think is a combination of understaffing and laziness. The food often takes a while and is inconsistent in quality. I'm shocked this isn't the first salvation location because you would think that people who have done this before would do a better job. I went on monday night for a Calzone and it took so long we had to ask for it to go. We were laughing the experience was so weird. When we finally ate them they tasted like they had been left out for the whole time we were waiting. Those of us who live nearby are probably more disappointed because of the anticipation before Salvation opened. They'd be better off not serving food and operating as a bar. Wow! Salvation Pizza has nothing but class. We ordered pizza to be delivered for our anniversary. We were in a hotel and just didn't want to get out, so we ordered Salvation. They use Favor to deliver. We ordered and waited for a long time. Actually, my husband went to the lobby and waited for over 30 minutes from the time of the estimated delivery. I called to check on it. Colin was so apologetic and nice. For the record, Salvation had the pizza ready and Favor never came to pick it up. But Colin re made our pizza and called another deliverer. When we finally got our meal, he had upgraded our pizza to a large as well as added another dessert, and comped our entire meal! Thank you, Colin and Lilly for being so nice! Oh! All of the food was excellently prepared, the Garlic Bread is homemade, so is the Pasta, Sauce, and Pizza. The reason I'm giving it a 3 star rating is because the Male bathroom is disgusting. The lock to the stall is broken and just hangs around like someone who just climbed into a noose. My Mother went to the Women's Restroom and it was Clean. I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. It was a pretty slow day here, with the occasional patrons waiting for their pizza. I ordered a small #4 (hamburger, mushroom, onion, jalapeno). The small is a 14" pizza that can readily feed two people. As much as I love pizza, I can't really tell the difference in regional styles aside from deep dish, regular dish (is that a thing?) and thin crust. Salvation Pizza is a New Haven style pizza, which from what I've wiki'd is a form of Neopolitan pizza. Honestly, I didn't find notice any difference between a NY-style pizza and a New Haven-style pizza. They're both thin crust to me. Anyway, the I thought the pizza tasted great. It was thin crust, but it wasn't hard like a cracker. I thought the edges were really tough though. I couldn't eat it without the risk of getting the roof of my mouth cut up and raw. The interior is nice and spacious. Even though it was empty when I went, it seems like a fun place to have dinner at. They have a stage for live music, and they carry a wide selection of drafts. read more

I live on Rainey Street and am a regular at this location. A lot of people in my building are regulars and even get a discount because we are there so much. I took a party of 8 to eat on a Saturday night. We sat outside. Our server greeted us and she was slurring her words and not making any sense. About 15 minutes after we requested a round of waters and had not received them, we went inside to check on our water order. Another server who I assume was the manager told us that our original server was drunk and he had to send her home. We tried to reorder waters and he very rudely pointed at a "water station", where we were told to get our own water. As a regular, I have never seen the water station and didn't know it existed or that I was required to get my own water. No problem. We ordered at the counter through him since it was obvious he wasn't going to make it to our table and was very agitated and rude to our entire party. Since we waited on ourselves and were treated badly, we chose not to tip. Highly unusual for me since I worked my way through college as a server. But, I couldn't get past how poorly I was treated. After looking at my credit card statement, a tip was written in by the Salvation Pizza staff. I will no longer be a regular. read more

I ordered a pizza last night a little before 9:30 pm on Yelp Eat24 and the estimated delivery was 10:45 pm, which is a while but sometimes delivery takes a while. 10:45 passes... 11:30 passes and I call the restaurant and there is no answer, they closed at 11pm. I just figured they must be out on delivery at this point. 12:15pm- 3 hours after ordering pizza I finally give up and make myself dinner. The ambiance was great, the waitress was so engaged and funny and the food was great - good appetizers, fresh salads and we all got something different -- wings, pizza, pasta and a BLT.
