New hibachi dining is very fun, and have enjoyed previous meals. Seems they may have developed a rhythm now that the hibachi area is a few months old.....our service was great, arrived early on a Saturday. With ten dollar off coupon our dinner for two with a drink was less than 40 bucks. We went to this place on Wednesday 3/24/16 at approx. 8:45pm.... The hostess spilled a water on me, that usually means free desert or SOMETHING, right? We ordered a bunch of sushi rolls and also a couple of fried dishes, pork fried rice and some other plate that was supposed to be fried. Let me explain, I am what other people consider picky... I don't consider myself picky, I just want good/great food, and a server that is nice and smiles occasionally... That's all I want. Well the sushi rolls were EXCELLENT! The Pork fried rice I ordered was NOT FRIED, I didn't complain but I wanted to, my girlfriend wouldn't allow me too, she is also my ex-girlfriend now... So now I can just speak my mind.... The place was very nice, the decor was nice, the prices for all the food seemed very reasonable, but no free desert or drinks for spilling a water on me, and my pork fried rice.... Well my unfried pork fried rice was never explained because I never asked, I figured maybe we were there so late they didn't want to start up the oven/wok? I'm in love with this place ! My boyfriend and I go all the time,and the sushi maker and waitress knows us as soon as we walk in. This is the best sushi around hands down. They just opened hibachi recently and that is the best I've had also (the hibachi cooks aren't as entertaining as others ,but I'm guessing it's because they are new and learning ). The lunch specials are super good priced. The service is great. I always take ppl here and they end up loving it as much as I do. I love this place! I didn't have high hopes for a place tucked away in a random strip plaza, but the food is exceptional. My sister brought me take-out from them and I was hooked. I can't believe how close this great place is to my home! I order take out about 2-3 times a month and every time the raw fish is super fresh. Thought it's obviously not Japanese sushi but Americanized, the squids, salmon, and tuna (my regular) are always very delicious and fresh tasting. Delivery is quick and sometimes they offer you some water while you wait for pickup. Prices of the dishes are adequate compared to the quality and staff are friendly. Once I went in for pickup, the servers were goofing around a bit, but not in an annoying way, and they actually apologized. Keep this place awesome! read more

Excellent..... Met a friend for lunch. Quick, great service and $7 lunch menu items. I ordered Yuki Udon - chicken which I've had once before, it was wonderful. Nice size portion for lunch. It includes either soup or salad. I ordered the salad which has homemade dressing. This is my go-to place for Japanese in the Buffalo area! I discovered it on OrderUp when I moved here a few years ago and I've never been disappointed! Very few Japanese restaurants offer online ordering, delivery AND delicious food... which is *the* perfect combination for those long days when you can't get home fast enough... can't leave because you're binge watching Netflix... Or haven't slept in a few days because it's finals week and you probably shouldn't drive. The delivery people are always friendly and timely as are the waitstaff when I eat there. I regularly get their spicy salmon/tuna crunchy rolls, katsu, yabenaki udon, yaki udon (which to me, is a tastier lo mein) and the bento boxes! (Salmon teriyaki is the best and they put the sauce on the side, if you're a dipper like me) The only things I wish they would add to the menu are ramen (like Ippudo in NYC) and Japanese curry but I guess there's Sato for that... I've been here about 3 times. Every time I've had to wait (take out) more and more. This last time very recently I was told it would be 45 minutes from when I ordered. I arrived about 50 minutes later. After that I had to wait another hour for my food. Overall good is pretty good, I particularly get the sushi dishes...though nowhere near good enough for the wait. We've ordered takeout and had lunch at Samurai before and it was fine. But today we went to Samurai for dinner and it was a disaster. Katsudon didn't have much taste. A waitress tried to take away miso soup even before we touched it. Then we asked a box to take home the remaining katsudon to adjust taste at home. A waitress took the remaining food to the back and gave it back to us in a plastic container - everything was dumped in the small container like dog food. The boyfriend and I went here for Valentine's Day yesterday. I had made reservations about a week in advance because I wasn't sure if they'd be busy or not. We were promptly seated when we got there but it did take sometime before we met our waitress and had our order taken. This was probably only because they did have a lot more people than usual. All of the food was pretty good though. We got the calamari(yum) and went a little crazy and got the love boat for two which was great and worth the big price tag. The boat comes with a bunch of sushi and sashimi pieces, a samurai roll, and a rainbow roll. The rolls were delicious and the fish was really good. We also hade the deep fried ice cream. The deep fried ice cream wasn't the best I've ever had and my boyfriend also said that it tasted kind of fishy. All together the waiting staff was very nice and the food was pretty tasty. I have been to this place many times and unfortunately tonight would make me not want to come back. There was not that many people there. I believe they just opened the hibachi part recently and they must be understaffed (I get it). When my friend and I sat down it took 5 minutes just for a rude waitress just to come over to ask us for our drinks. Then another 10 minutes to order. We ordered miso soup which was really good (hard to get that wrong). We also got an app which took 20 minutes for us to get!!!! I actually went up to the sushi bar because our food was sitting there and asked if I could take it because I was tired of waiting for our app. The manager apologized but that was it. We got our bill and it took another 10 minutes for our waitress to come get our bill. Well instead of us putting it on our credit card which she would of gotten a tip from us, we only had 35 cash on a 32.68 bill.......sorry not sorry, it is your own fault that you didnt get a bigger tip and I never have left that small amount. maybe you would learn to at least apologize and say that we are understaffed or the food is coming. Being a new transplant to the area I was on the hunt for a new sushi haunt and I think that I may have found it. Sushi can be a tricky thing and not something that you want to have a "bad" experience with. Went to Samurai with some gf's on ones' suggestion and was pleasantly surprised. After pouring over the rather extensive menu I decided on the Maki combo- 1 shrimp tempura roll, 1 eel avocado roll and 1 California roll plus miso soup and salad. I felt this would be a good sampling of hard fail rolls to sort of dip my toe in the proverbial waters, not to mention a rather large sampling for the value of 13.95 which was perfect for a hungry babe on a budget such as herself. I'm not really a fan of miso soup, it tends to make me think of sick beds and dirty dish water. The salad with the ginger dressing was good though and the rolls were nice portions and tasted very fresh. I will definitely be back to venture other samplings! read more

Ok let me start by saying this is only in regards to hibachi we didn't have sushi.

Food is great, service is awful. A group of six of us went for dinner last night and it was a disaster. We arrived without reservations, so we were prepared to wait and had just planned on eating sushi. Once there they told us we could sit on the hibachi side and order sushi as well and since part of our group wanted hibachi we agreed. We waited at the bar for twenty minutes and asked four different servers if we could order drinks. Each one told us sure but then walked away without taking our order. The fifth time we asked we were finally served. We were then told that we could sit at the third hibachi table and it would be a 30 minute wait but could order sushi. The sushi we ordered was delicious but it was hard to enjoy because we all had to wear our coats the entire time due to the temperature at our table. We mentioned it as soon as we sat down and they told us it is cold because the hibachi table gets really hot. We asked them to turn the heat up multiple times. At the end of the night we were finally told that the back door was open to help with the smoke. The door had been open the entire time (it was 10 degrees out), we ate with out coats on, and it took 2 hours for someone to do something about it! If only it stopped there. The entire meal the smoke from the hibachi was blowing into our faces. We asked the chef to adjust it but he never did. At the end of the meal the chef did something that created so much smoke we actually had to duck below the table to avoid choking on the smoke. You couldn't see the person sitting next to you it was so bad. When we voiced our concern about this at the end of the meal we were told they "usually don't sit people at that hibachi table because the vent is broken." In other words, they were aware of the problem and still allowed us to sit there anyway. At the end of the meal when we were asked how it was we were honest and told them we froze the entire meal, our food was cold due to the open door, and we had smoke in our face the entire time. Their response was a full bill with a ten dollar gift certificate. The head chef then came over and was extremely rude to us and when we voiced our concerns to him he responded with " Well did you save any food for me?" He was very condescending and was making a joke out of our experience. It was poor service and poor business management. We have always enjoyed Samurai and order sushi from them often, but I can't imagine going back again after the way we were treated. read more
