Second chances!!! Got a chance to come back and experience the Wine tasting set up by McKenzie, she was such an amazing sport handling all my previous experiences concerns. We had our wine tasting out on the patio with a guitarist playing great music. The vibes were amazing the air had a good breeze it was perfect. Russell was our host and boi oh boi, I can't put together the best words to describe this guy. Very professional and knowledgeable guy. We actually learned a lot about wine and some history lessons minus the quizzes. He took care of us and provided the type of customer service you hope for. He was also very humorous so laughter and wine was definitely a good mix. The charcuterie board was delicious and fresh. He also gifted us a bottle of wine. Not sure if I should have mentioned that. We are already planning to come back for another experience with Russell. The experience was so great we decided to stay after the wine tasting to dine there. We had the shrimp scampi and a pizza. My sister and I love coming here once in a while, but last night 5/22/26 it was really lacking. The dining area was lovely as always. We ordered the chicken of the day which was chicken with a mushroom sauce, penne pasta with a vodka sauce, sautéed veggies, and a side salad but no bread which was disappointing. The service lacked. They took us to the table, brought food, then water after. No one came to ask us how we are doing or offered a refill on my drink. Before I left I ordered a side of thr pasta that came with my dinner and a Blueberry Bread Pudding. How come when I ordered the side pasta it came with bread but our dinner didn't? I work across the street from the winery at LA General, so in the decade and a half I've worked there we would go to the winery to celebrate numerous birthdays and events without incident and a decent to great experience. Today was the complete opposite- and it was 100% due to poor customer service. We went to lunch to celebrate my boss getting her advanced degree- In preparation, I called to make a reservation. In the past we were able to do this, but their Supervisor Sheri who answered the phone told me they couldn't do this anymore but they would take note we were coming with a large party. I just didn't want to catch their staff off guard, and thanked her. We arrived right at opening and were the first individuals there. My first few coworkers paid for their food and noticed their was a 22% gratuity tacked on- when she asked what it was for the cashier said- "because you guys are a party of 20, we charge this for anything greater than 8". We understand this is normal restaurant etiquette, but that's when a party is usually sat together. They told us they could not sit us together. That the tables were set as 6.. my coworker then stated if we aren't sat together if wasn't really fair we were forced gratuity, and said - it would be the same as if we came in separate parties- that's when the cashier Denisse rolled her eyes and Martin the lead waiter pointed to 4 sides of the room and said in Spanish, " fine sit them all far apart from each other." Not realizing some of us spoke Spanish, or frankly not caring, we said it was petty and asked to talk to whoever was in charge. It happened to be Sheri- she kept insisting she explained to me on the phone no reservations could be made. I explained to her- If no extra service is rendered why even force a gratuity? She could only state "because it's policy". She kept coming back as if our complaint was paying the 22% forced gratuity- we politely reminded her NO it was the complete rudeness of her staff.. We had patronized this location all throughout our careers, even ordering takeout the many years during COVID when it was take out only since we favor local over corporate.. at this point I can safely say they lost 24 long term patrons and their families today. And if asked my opinion where to eat after work to celebrate- it won't be at the winery anymore. read more

I always drive by the ads on the fwy for this place but it wasn't until recently that I actually went. I was weary of the reviews but I always have to check out things for myself before making any statement. I figured it was kind of a tourist trap if they had ads but I came in with an open mind and was pleasantly surprised. It's not quite like Napa obviously but it's reminiscent of a place you would find in wine country in Temecula. I had no idea that the famous Stella Rosa wines are bottled here! That's pretty neat! My friends got a bunch of wines here for cheap but other collections they said were cheaper at Costco lol What we ordered: Faroe Island Salmon (A+) - Fresh catch of the day MP $36 excellent texture, clean, and moist. The star of the 3 we ordered. Wagyu steak & eggs (A) - Solid dish but be mindful it's not Japanese wagyu although it would be awesome if it was Crème Brûlée French Toast (A) - Flavorful and not too sweet just the perfect amount of fruits and syrup The Bistro was lovely. We had a lovely corner table with our dog and a great overall view of the entire restaurant. Our waiter was informative and attentive. Service is on the slower side but that's the vibe relaxed and chill. We also went Sunday afternoon so there were alot of brunchers. We didn't make a reservation since we weren't sure what to expect upon arrival but I highly suggest doing one but you will be charged if you don't show so keep that in mind. The reason it's 3 starts because I think the bingo tickets for $50 plus taxes came out to $60 plus with only 1 drink and 10 bingo cards. 10 bingo cards was great. San Antonio Winery is a good place to have lunch. It's not open in the evening either. The food is pretty good, and I think most people can find something to enjoy. The grilled lamb chops were tasty, and you can add on to your order with a small charcuterie board, or some French fries, or fried calamari. The service is not bad, and the people who work there are very friendly and respond quickly once you get their attention. The day we went there was a World Cup game on, so the atmosphere was boisterous, but we didn't have a problem conversing over the din. We celebrated my aunt's 65th birthday at San Antonio Winery with a group of about 25 people. Although they couldn't accommodate all of us at one table, we made it work. I'm not sure why, since there were a couple of removable tables that could have been rearranged, but needless to say, we still had a great time. I'm not sure the customers seated between our group enjoyed it as much--we were lively and entertaining one another around and in between them--but we had a wonderful time. The food, as always, was amazing. If you've followed me, you know I've reviewed this location before. My aunt and I actually did a test run before booking the reservation, and once again, the dishes did not disappoint. Every guest raved about their meal. Our table had a variety of dishes--different kinds of pizza, spaghetti, the seafood omelet (one of my favorites), calamari, and assorted salads. Not a single complaint! The prices were reasonable too. Before brunch, our group participated in a wine tasting, which was a highlight. The host was incredibly knowledgeable, shared lots of great information, and made the experience fun and educational. Many of us ended up purchasing several bottles afterward. Warning...when you think of a winery, you think of outdoor rolling hills of greenery...this is NOT that. However, this is a beautiful gem in the hustle bustle of the city. It's a small getaway that will leave you happy because of the wine and the wonderful customer service. They have good hearty food as well. I have been here several times and every time the service is awesome. This is the home of Stella Rosa, and after taking the tour the first time, I found out how Stella Rosa started. You don't have to take a full tour as they do have counter tastings which will educate you about the selections they do have. Please know San Antonio is a legit winery with high quality selections. Purely based off the food and parking situation. Sandwich was great! Pastrami was tender and juicy. Bread was crunchy but didn't destroy the roof of your mouth. Coleslaw was actually very well dressed and tasty. Didn't expect that. Calamari was a bit more hit or miss. The smaller bits were nicely tender but the larger rings were a tad rubbery. I had recently closed several commercial real estate deals and wanted to treat my family to what we believed would be a nice, memorable dinner. With nearly five-star reviews, our expectations were high. The reality was the complete opposite. From the moment we arrived, the experience felt disorganized and unwelcoming. Parking was fine, but the hostess at the front was unprofessional, short, and unhelpful. She did not explain how dining works here and simply redirected us inside without any guidance, almost as if she didn't want to deal with us. I have loved San Antonio winery for many years and once I got engaged, I knew I wanted to have my bridal shower here. And it was definitely the right decision! My shower was held in the Heritage Cellar on 8/3/25 for about 30 people. The cellar was the perfect size. The room comes with tables, chairs, linens and napkins. I chose the plated lunch option for my party and my guests were served either lasagna or chicken marsala. A salad and dinner rolls were included too. Everyone kept telling me how good the food was! And a great portion. Wine was not included in the overall price, but as an add on option. I had about 13 bottles for my party and the staff set them up very nicely. TL;DR: San Antonio Winery in Los Angeles didn't just ruin dinner -- they stole the celebration. A 2:30 PM reservation for 20 people celebrating a legendary birthday turned into a confusing and frustrating experience involving an undisclosed 22% gratuity, a single combined bill for four tables, and a claim that we were $50 short that the staff refused to explain. Consumer warning: If you are bringing a large group here, be extremely cautious about how your bill is handled. Our party had a 2:30 PM reservation for 20 people. Despite this, the restaurant split us across four separate tables. That alone was disappointing for a birthday gathering, but what made matters worse was that the restaurant then combined all orders from those tables onto one bill. When we asked our waiter, Gareth, if the bill could be sub-totaled by table so each group could pay their portion, we were told it was "not possible." When the bill arrived, we noticed that a 22% gratuity had already been added. This was never disclosed beforehand, either on the menu or by the server. When we asked Gareth what percentage had been applied, his response was simply: "The computer did it." Not exactly a reassuring explanation when dealing with a bill approaching $800. When we asked to speak with a manager, we were told none was available. However, once the restaurant decided we were $50 short, a manager suddenly appeared. Instead of walking through the charges, she held out the bill and the cash and said: "The bill is $800 and you gave us $750." She refused to walk through the math and would not bring back the credit cards so we could verify the charges ourselves. When we asked if she could simply subtotal the bill by table so everyone could understand what they owed, she claimed that because the orders were entered together, it was not possible to separate them now. This explanation made little sense and left our group trying to reconstruct an $800 bill ourselves while standing at the table. At that point we had spent more time trying to sort out the restaurant's billing than actually celebrating the birthday. Unfortunately, the problems didn't stop with billing. Basic service was inconsistent. Water was never served to our table, which is surprising for any restaurant, especially when hosting a large party. We were also told the kitchen closes at 5:00 PM, which led us to believe we simply needed to order before then. What was not communicated was that guests would effectively be pushed out shortly after 5:30, creating unnecessary pressure on what was supposed to be a relaxed celebration. Food quality was also concerning. One of the dishes ordered, the Hamachi Crudo, arrived with fish that tasted like it was beginning to turn, which is troubling for a raw fish dish. And in one of the most bizarre moments of the evening, a staff member took a drink out of my hand while I was still drinking it. When I asked why, her response was simply: "We're closing." There was no apology and no explanation. None of this needed to happen. A simple subtotal by table, a clear explanation of the charges, and basic communication from management would have resolved the situation in minutes. Instead, our group spent the evening trying to untangle a bill the restaurant itself could not clearly explain, while the celebration we had gathered for slipped away. Went to have lunch after a meet and great with Homerun hitter Miguel Rojas of the Dodgers . The start of the meal was good , my drink Stay Golden was delicious. Too bad I can't say the same about the service . First of all the server went on break and didn't let us know and didn't tell us that someone else would cover. We finished our meal and asked a server walking by that made no eye contact to grab our check. I place my cc on the card holder on the edge of the table to give the indication I was ready to pay. At this point I was curious to see how long this would take I added a timer ..at least 4 servers walked including a manager in a blue blazer no one made eye contact . The waiter returned with the chicken but you could tell that they didn't re-do the order because the eggs were the same (over easy instead of over medium). Trying to flag someone down for water, a glass, a napkin etc is a challenge. This place is loud and chaotic and busy. Small cafe inside for coffee l, wine flights, pastries and cheese plates. Madelena cafeteria style restaurant (think an upscale ikea cafe) that also offers a wine flights. Large retail goodies gourmet store and banquet facilities . San Antonio winery is over 100 years old. Thumbs up for Bernardo at 1917 - Super nice and friendly service on the patio cafe. Definitely coming back for brunch and more Italian goodies. read more
