My partner and I both ordered the Cowboy Jalapeño Cheeseburger. He had the tater tots and a large soda, and I went with the french fries and a large chocolate shake. The burger absolutely blew me away. I love a good burger, and this one shot straight to the top of my list. It was juicy, flavorful, perfectly messy, and worth every napkin. And the fries... don't even get me started. I honestly don't think I've ever had fries quite like these. Crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and incredibly addictive. This place just screams local in all the best ways. There's no indoor seating but there are plenty of shaded picnic tables outside that make for a great place to enjoy your meal. Summer hours are 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. If you're anywhere near Moab, do yourself a favor and stop here. This is the kind of burger you'll be thinking about long after you've left town.

It was a mess on both of our burgers. -Tater Tots were cooked perfectly and were delicious. Next time I'll try chili fries instead. Shakes are killer!

After a long, sunny midday dip over at Mill Creek Waterfall, escaping the desert heat meant finding…read morerefuge and cold fluids fast. Moab is notorious for its predictable, shallow tourist traps that roll out the same uninspired menus to captive crowds, so skipping the main drag nonsense for Proper Brewing felt like the right call. It is a bit of a quirky setup inside. The decor hits you as slightly odd and dated right off the bat, giving off an old-school aesthetic that does not quite line up with modern taproom minimalism, but it functions well enough when you just need to cool down. The service was a bit on the spotty side and carried a rather peculiar vibe, though the kitchen and the bar kept things moving quickly enough for a shorter visit. The real saving grace here lives in the taps and the coolers. Finding a spot in this town that treats classic styles with genuine respect is a rarity. The SLC Pils is incredibly clean with a crisp, snappy noble hop finish that immediately cuts through the midday heat. We leaned into the hoppier side of the list with the Concerning Hops, a beautifully simple and dank West Coast IPA, and the Leisurebrau, which kept the clean drinking streak alive. For something a bit more aromatic, the Blizzard Wizzard held its own, but the standout for me was the Yacht Rock Juice Box. It brings a great tropical, hazy profile that does not fall into that sticky, cloying sweetness trap that ruins so many modern versions of the style. Before heading out, hitting their to-go section is an absolute necessity. They have a killer selection of tall boys ready to go, which is exactly what you want when stocking up for whatever adventure waits just beyond the town limits. We kept the food order simple and focused on the appetizer menu to fuel up after swimming. The Proper Nachos arrived fully loaded with all the standard fixings, including a decent avocado spread and pickled jalapeños. Honestly, they were completely fine, just your textbook, dependable bar nachos that hit the salty craving without reinventing the wheel. The Proper Poutine stepped things up a bit with a rich brown gravy and real cheese curds, layered with an unexpected hit of herbed cream cheese and bacon that added some serious depth to the plate. Dessert, however, turned into a tale of two completely different kitchens. Skip the banana split entirely. They make it with vanilla soft serve instead of traditional hard scoops, which just feels weirdly cheap and results in a melted, sloppy texture before the dish even settles on the table. Truth be told, you need to redirect that attention entirely to the bread pudding. It features chunks of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups baked right into a warm, dense, incredibly rich base, finished with caramel and whipped cream. It is absolutely excellent and easily salvaged the sweet portion of the meal. Even with the quirky atmosphere and the eccentric service, the quality of the beer and the standout dishes make this one of the absolute best options in the area. I would easily drop back in next time I am rolling through Moab.

If you like crunchy fries, this place nails them. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the space is huge-half of it is set up as a restaurant, while the other side is considered a pub, where you can order drinks without food. Since we were hungry, we ordered food anyway. The bartender was friendly and attentive, and the hostess even brought Luna a treat, which made her day. We stayed inside so Luna could cool off before heading to Arches National Park. The only downside for me was the margarita, which was far too sour for my taste. Still, the overall vibe, great fries, and pet-friendly attitude made this a solid stop in Moab.

Water was brought to our table before I'd even put my purse down. Our ordered drinks arrived shortly after. The menu is great! I got the Hot Bird with a side salad and I'm not kidding when I say it was one of the best spicy chicken sandwiches I've had. The chicken breast was moist and there were no weird bits. The sauce was delicious, pickles crunchy, and the mini, tomato, and lettuce were great additions to an incredible sandwich. My side salad was big and fresh. It hadn't been sitting in a fridge for hours. The Mister got Bahn Mi and we were both very pleasantly surprised at how good tasty the sandwich was. The meat was warm and flavorful, the veggies were bright and crisp. It was excellent. The real surprise of the meal was the French fries. Think fair fries only thicker. They were so freaking good. Crunchy outside, piping hot and tender on the inside. Perfectly salty. I can't believe I'm raving over French fries but they were legit delicious. Cute space with indoor and outdoor seating options. The attached bar area also looked inviting. I would 1000% come here again.

I built my own burger with chicken, Swiss cheese, pineapple, jalapeños, blue cheese, and their Listen BBQ sauce (yes, I went all in ), and it hit the mark. So flavorful with the perfect mix of sweet, spicy, and savory. My husband had the mushroom burger and loved it, definitely a great pick if you want something more classic. I tried the jalapeño margarita, and while it wasn't my favorite (a little more lime-forward than I usually like), that's just personal taste, not a deal breaker at all. The food, the service, and the overall vibe were all on point. We'd absolutely come back, next time I might just switch up.
