Came here for my mom's birthday (we've been maybe once or twice a few years ago), and oH mAn- the black linguine with lobster is SO good! Is it worth $25? Probably not. Is it under 800 calories? Definitely not. But boy is that pasta BOMB. It's my go-to dish here, and probably the only thing I really like from the restaurant. We tried the white clam linguine and thin crust pizza too.. tbh, neither are special at all. The clam linguine is way too watery and the pizza tastes like a skinnier, glorified Domino's. If it weren't for the black linguini, I'd definitely give this place 2 or 3 stars at best, but if you go you MUST try the black linguine lobster dish. Seriously so good. It's also BYOB which is a great plus! COVID-19 update: I ordered pickup, but when I got there the restaurant was packed. Like, full capacity. It didn't even look there was a pandemic going on. I don't know what state regulations are right now and I couldn't tell if the tables were ~really~ 6 feet apart, but at least the staff were all wearing masks. Saturday nights around 7pm...this place is PACKED. Came here in a whim with some friends and it did not disappoint. Saturday evenings here is a mad house. There's families packed in a small waiting area at the front of the restaurant with people lined up waiting at the top of a staircase that leads to another eating section. First impression- very Italian! I absolutely love Italian food and their extensive menu was impressive. Despite the fact that it was crazy busy, our staff was very friendly. They don't seem to take any reservations so I don't recommend coming here during prime time on a weekend unless you're willing to wait at least 45 minutes to an hour to get seated. We called in advanced to see how long the wait was and were told only 20 minutes. By the time we go to the restaurant (probably 15 mins tops), the wait was 45mins to an hour for a table for four. We waited since everyone in my party was craving Italian...and we had a nice bottle of homemade wine to down. As mentioned, the staff was extremely friendly and spoke to us like we were friends, which are huge brownie points for me. It didn't even bother me that the tables seemed like they were on top of each other. My husband orders with his stomach and not his eyes, so he decided to order bruschetta and garlic bread to start. I'm not a fan of tomatoes (I know, what am I doing at an Italian restaurant??), but the bruschetta looked awesome...and from my husbands reaction, it tasted even better. I did however, indulge in their garlic bread Parmesan which was a large piece of garlic bread, toasted to perfection, with melted mozzarella on top. Delicious. As the main course, I opted for a seafood linguine which included clams, mussels, shrimp, and calamari. My husband got the typical penne vodka with chicken (typical, but delicious), our one friend got the seafood paella which could've fed the entire table, and my other friend ordered a chicken Marsala which wasn't even on the menu, but the chef had no problems making. Dining with my Italian friends who's family makes their own wine, sausage, and pasta; I knew this place was legit. I'd like to go back and try their pizza. I took one star off because it really was overly packed and I felt we were all on top of each other. The wait staff literally scurries between tables rubbing up against your jackets while holding an entire tray of food just above your head to get by. The tables are a little small for the portions of the plates, but hey, we're not here to criticize the size of a table. Food was delicious, staff was friendly, wait time was long (during prime dinner time..and a Saturday night), and BYOB. Great company, great food, great wine, and great service. They have done a great job to create a beautiful outdoor space. They also are following guidelines for indoor dining. The bread the give you when you sit is my favorite part about this restaurant...you'll see! For dinner we started with a pizza which was delicious. Then had an argula salad and chicken vodka parm with linguine. We couldn't pass on dessert, so we ordered a piece of chocolate mousse cake to take home and enjoy in our comfy clothes! They are also BYOB...need I say more?! We did have to wait longer than usual for our food but it was a busy night and I received a personal note afterwords apologizing. I have been here a few times before and after the pandemic. They have done a good job of staying well-staffed and maintaining their menu items. The service is good as it is a fairly medium sized restaurant with open dining room and outdoor seating area so you're always within sight of a restaurant staff member who can assist you. The food is always well-prepared. I think some of the sauces or dishes are made more on a large-scale or kept frozen, but not bad, just not as individualized. Asked for a second basket of bread (we were 8), but had to reming the water five times before it finally arrived 30 minutes later. We ordered salad starters. After we complained to the manager salads were finally delivered. The waiter came out twice making everyone repeat their orders. He had them all wrong. :-( An hour after I sat down and 35 min after ordering my salad came out. We were told not to worry. Our main courses were ready and just being kept warm! That being said, the waitress made for a very uncomfortable environment especially asking questions about the tip before we even got up. I grew up waiting tables and I would get like $2 tips and I never ever would go to them and say give me more. I gave a generous tip as well. My wife and I ate there this afternoon with another couple. We've had enjoyable meals before (last time about 3 months ago) but we were terribly disappointed this time. Our meals came out lukewarm and tasted like frozen meals reheated. My wife had linguine with white clam sauce. The sauce was decent but the clams were so over cooked that they were inedible...like little chunks of rubber. My eggplant rollatini was very cheesy with a tomato sauce having very little spice...almost like a can of tomato puree poured over it. The accompanying linguine on both dishes was gummy. If you want overcooked pasta and pasta drenched in oil and butter, then this is definitely the place for you. The food looks good at a glance but if you actually sit down and TASTE it, there really isn't anything special about it. A definitely disappointing Italian restaurant and definitely NOT authentic American Italian food. Their pizza is a bland and has cardboard bread. The only thing that is decent (and not on the menu) is the focaccia that is served warm at the table and for that I'll give two stars. Picked up a takeout order tonight (dinnertime on a Saturday) and was shocked to see this restaurant not following all COVID-19 protocols and NJ state rules. It almost looked like a normal Saturday before the pandemic. The dining area was clearly well above 25% capacity, and there were still even more people inside waiting around to get a table. What was by far most shocking, though, was that all employees did not have masks on. As soon as you walked in, two individuals were clearly not wearing masks (front managers or owners, not sure). I have been coming here for years, but I won't be back, even for takeout. There are so many great Italian restaurants in Bergen County that ARE following rules and putting the safety of their customers first. EDIT: Lisa's comment is a full blown lie. The takeout order was under a family member's name (not mine), so there is no way she can remember who was specifically waiting to sit when she has no idea who I am or what moment I walked in that door. There were multiple parties waiting. Not one family of 4. I won't argue capacity because quite frankly I don't care, but I can say that I have frequented this restaurant dozens of times and strongly feel that there were too many people sitting down to eat on this night. Prior to the pandemic, they stuffed a good 4 rows into the tiny dining area which I always questioned how it wasn't a fire hazard. Regardless- the part that truly upset me was the masks. I saw with my own eyes two employees without masks on. The fact that Lisa cannot own up to that pure fact is disgusting. I am kicking myself for not thinking to take a photo at the time. Yelpers - believe who you want. I saw what I saw. Kindly factor in that Lisa also replied to another bad review (from a real human, clearly not a bot, to anyone with common sense) claiming it was from a fake Yelp account. One of most amazing food experiences I have had in a long time. The staff is very friendly and professional, food was exceptional and the ambiance was delightful. I had their specialty dish, the black linguine with lobster tails. The portion size was large enough that I split the portion and took it home to enjoy later. I recommend exploring their appetizers list as everything came out well seasoned especially the entrees. Came here for a work occasion and I can say we had a wonderful time. It is a BYOB establishment as well as have a wine list in house. If I have one complaint it would be the parking situation which is a minor issue. read more

This Italian restaurant has always left me and my dinning companions satisfied and happy at the end of our meal.From the friendly staff, to the delicious dishes everything has been positive. Recently i have been getting there famous black linguine. It comes with lobster however i sub out lobster and add in crab. I love the crab they serve in the pasta dishes. Its so abundant! My bowl of pasta was filled with crab. Another favorite for me and my diners when we come here is the pesto sauce. Best pesto sauce in the area! Its garlicky and fresh and sticks to the pasta perfectly. Also, Sanduccis is really good about tweaking a dish to your liking. Lighting was pretty dark and the crowd seemed to be a mix of middle aged to quite old Staff: Friendly and astute One review I read commented on the "amazing bread" .. which I found to be less than satisfactory. Not warm at all and the "foccaccia" was little more than a highstarch bread piece with a tiny bit of tomato sauce for flavor. We ordered the standard clamari as an appetizer which was served in a haphazardly presentation. The taste was good and definitely homemade but it was very salty which I guess is an Italian thing but the salt level was definitely a bit too high. For entrees my husband ordered the Calamari Luciano which was underseasoned and the saucew as subpar. The pasta was cooked well there was just not much flavor. I myself ordered Shrimp with linguine, arugala and tomatoes (iforgot what the actual name was) That was actually pretty good perfectly cooked pasta and light but tasty white wine sauce. Overall I was underwhelmed Plus: Good service, BYOB Negatives: subpar food which in my opinion could have been even cheaper for the quality. - We left full of whine and satisfied but disappointed. I've dined here 3 times in less than a year & each time I've very much enjoyed my meal. This place only accepts reservations of 5 or more so you need to get here early or late or else you are waiting for a whille on a Saturday night. Sitting in one of the booths is the best seat to have - I've been lucky to get it twice - I make a point to get to Sanducci's early when I go. Parking is tough - not too many spots but you need to make sure you go to the back of the building and look carefully for spots to park. Now, on to the food! Sanducci's offer's a large menu with pasta, chicken, veal, and seafood. The meals do not come with a salad but if you order a garden salad, it is enough for two to shared. The black linguini is homemade (squid ink) and comes with a pink cognac sauce. I ask for shrimp on it since the lobster that comes with it is not enough for me. It is so delicious - you will love it! The bread basket comes with a tasty dipping sauce. So far, all of the food I have tasted has been great and service has been courteous and not rushed which is awesome. This place is BYO and the prices are reasonable so check it out! read more

Lisa, thanks for responding. But do not lie. When the reservation around 430pm was made NEVER was i told if we brought a cake in that there was a $2.50 per person charge and NEVER told about a credit card surcharge. I made a mistake for not asking at that time or I would have gone to another restaurant. My family has and still owns several restaurants in NJ and we never in 30 yrs of being in the restaurant business charged a group of patrons for bringing in a special occasion cake. I called back at 5:47pm and asked if I could bring the cake and was told by a man there was a $2.50 per.person charge. By that time it was impossible to cancel. Trust me I wish we could have. People were travel over an hour away for this special dinner. When we made the reservation we were never told their was a surcharge for using a credit card, it was not on the menu, I didn't see it posted on the website or in the restaurant. Any establishment I go into who charges a credit card surcharges advises the customers before the transaction. It is a more professional way of doing business so that customers known before the check comes. That's shady. We all have enjoyed our meals in the past thats why we chose you. The food was not as good as in the past. BTW my friends did not.go.up to any manager and say anything. We were.outside and there was no manager around. We were the last to leave and ONLY our waiter was outside. So again don't respond to my post with lies to make you look better. Let's agree to disagree. As every.business knowns the customer is always right even if you don't think so. A business should always try to accommodate a customer. You could have avoided losing alot of business because now all of us .our friends and family will NEVER come back and now you are getting bad reviews on social media and you could lose business. After a bit of Yelping, we decided to take the 'rents to Sanducci's. It was a bit last minute, but we figured that it'd be ok if we didn't make a reservation. Upon arriving, we discovered that the address listed here is incorrect, as they must have moved. I've posted the new address in the quick tip portion of this restaurant's listing. Park around the back, although there's a limited amount of spaces to be had. Don't worry about the walk up the steep driveway...there's an elevator in the rear parking lot that brings you right there. Way cool! Upon entering, we say a sea of people, and a river more waiting to be seated. Not a big deal, as we were told that we'd have a thirty minute wait. That's not the end of the world. There were three parties going on, two in the main dining room and one upstairs in another. Each had 15-20 people involved, which is why the place was a zoo this night. The maitre'd was dead on with the thirty minute wait time, and we were seated in a cozy booth off to the side of the craziness. Just before, though, we were treated to a small slice of thin crust pizza while we waited for a table to be freed up. It was very good with a crispy thin crust, a bit of sauce, and fresh mozzarella melted on top. I thought this was a nice touch and greatly appreciated. The Chicken Arturo was nice also. Approximately 8 oz of sauteed chicken breast broiled with bread crumbs and gorgonzola and sliced portobello in a light garlic marsala sauce. Linguini with white clam sauce...a real treat with littlenecks dotting the top of this wonderful rendition of this dish. Lasagna was a huge portion full of creamy ricotta, mozzarella, ground beef, and marinara. So damn good! The atmosphere was homey, yet a little industrial in the main dining room if you look up. There's booths for those who prefer them, and tables throughout the main dining area, where it's a bit cramped when it's maxxed out with patrons. The lady at the front desk, either was the manager or an owner, came by to check on us when our table was cleared. We gave the meal a thumbs up and said it was delicious. At this, she smiled broadly and said, "That makes me very happy. Thank you all so much for coming!" It's the little things like that which make a great impression, even after a good meal. I had to deduct a single star for the volume level in the front of the house as well as the cramped dining room. We'll be going back, absolutely! read more

It was kinda difficult to get a servers attention when we needed something. I ordered the lobster ravioli and that was delicious. The sauce was so good and the ravioli was cooked perfectly. Short and sweet with all that you need to know: Good service, family like ambiance, but really mediocre food. How does one manage to make veal NOT taste delicious? I was surprised that despite the amount of sauce slathered over my meal it was overall my bland. Same for my companion's gnocci. For Bergen County this Italian restaurant's cuisine is definitely a major disappointment. Save the money and time and get Italian take-out from any hole-in-the-wall place as many can probably beat the value and taste of the dishes here.
