Food is good. I'm mostly pissed off , there is some guy that's been working there for a while older guy with mustache works in the back maybe prepping food. I go to Sandwich Board regularly, and have had pretty good experiences. They roast their turkey fresh daily, and give you the choice of white or mixed meat. This place is a bit of a hole in the wall, and there's only a few tables -- one inside, one outside, and a bench outside. The sandwiches are consistently good, and they have several bread choices. I highly recommend getting the rolls (white, wheat, or dutch crunch) as they don't have a toaster and thus the sliced bread gets incredibly soggy almost instantly. My personal recommendation? The "Turkey Delight", which is a turkey, avocado, and cheese sandwich. A sandwich and soda will generally run you about 9-10 dollars, depending on what you order. The bummer is that more often than not, they are out of wheat rolls. Get it together, please. read more

This is like the definition of your quick, corner sandwich stop. It's never too busy, so perfect place to grab a really quick bite before heading to the movies or hanging out in Alameda. Prices are reasonable. All the sandwiches are pretty standard, though I didn't have much time to analyze the menu. I just came in for a quick turkey and avocado. Came in, came out in a flash. Yum! I wanted a chicken salad sandwich which they don't have so I opted for the turkey salad sandwich. I'm glad I did... It was really flavorful and they sure did pack on the turkey salad. I think I found a new favorite. I look forward to trying the other turkey sandwiches. You won't see any Oscar Meyer, just fresh roast turkeys daily...you can smell them roasting in the morning and I've peeked into the kitchen to see them pulling fragrant, browned birds out of the ovens. What's not to love? My current fav is turkey, cranberry, cheddar, and cream cheese w/everything. You can choose dark, white, or mixed meat. On average, a sandwich and a drink will cost you a little under $9. There's a small 2 seater table in the deli and 1 or 2 very small tables outside. They take CASH ONLY so don't forget to drop by the ATM before stopping by for a sandwich. Stopped by off a recommendation of a friend who raved about it. Upon my arrival I can see why I had missed it before! It's a tiny shop cut into the wall with barely enough room for people to make their way from order to pay, but the excitement running through this place is palpable. Apparently it's a big deal! There is only one very small table inside and one and a half tables outside (small table and a bench!) - but all the more reason to have an impromptu picnic! There's nothing like the smell of fresh bread for starters and they have SUCH a variety it's crazy! The guy took my order on a little brown sandwich bag that ends up being the "container" for your sandwich which was pretty groovy. Efficiency is key in a place that small and they've got it! I ordered the egg salad and it was great - had to get a fork to eat the rest that had fallen out everywhere, there was so much extra! A little intimidating at first because there's so much sandwich, but once you take a couple of bites it's too good to be worried about keeping your fingers clean. YES, its true, they roast a turkey everyday and it is damn good. I get the mixed (both dark and white meat) roast turkey on a Dutch crunch roll with just lettuce, onion, mayo and cranberry sauce and a little salt & pepper. Its soooooooooo good! I can walk to this place from my house, and I even go so far as to drive all the way over there from work (on the other side of Oakland) at lunchtime at least once a week. Its always quick, and the service is friendly and the place is immaculate. My only tiny complaint is that they can't (or won't) toast your bread for you. It ain't an option. I would give this 3 and a half, cause the food was really good... just didn't blow me away. But the service is excellent. The owner (I think) named Susan was incredibly welcoming and helpful when we walked in. She told us all about the menu and helped us out with seating and whatnot (we had a fairly large group). I got the club sandwich on dutch crunch, which was really good. I got some avocado on it as well. Someone gave this place 1 star but that is because they ordered chicken at a place that is known for their turkey! Order turkey and get the works. Best Sammie's ever! I frequent deli's and this is delish they cook turkeys everyday they are juicy and tasty. The bacon is crisp and the bread is fresh tasting. The service is great, they do take card. It is pricy but they are trying to survive with all the franchises out there, you get what you pay for. Big fan. read more

To Sandwich Board: Please try considering adding gluten free bread to your options of bread choices and you will double or more the amount of customers you get! It lasts longer than regular bread when you keep it cold and if price is an issue than charge more. Although, note there are gluten free bread makers who will charge you less then the regular consumer. If people are super allergic than offer to use a different knife on their sandwich and put extra paper underneath when making the sandwich. It's really not that hard. There are free organizations to help you if you have questions. I just don't get why all sandwiches places don't offer gluten free bread now. There are literally millions of people eating gluten free now and no it's not fad. It is depressing how little gluten free sandwich options there are in Alameda. Be the leader! Thanks. read more

Their turkey sandwiches are amazing. I know this sounds like every other review here, but this place really is great. I get the mixed light/dark meat turkey sandwich with cheese, onions, mayo, mustard, sprouts (I *love* sprouts), avocado, all on a French roll. Most of my friends go for the Dutch Crunch, but I like to keep it simple when it comes to the bread. (plus, not a huge fan of Dutch Crunch) There's no room to sit inside, and there's only 2 tables outside.. but it's still a really great spot to go for a sandwich for lunch on Park Street. My coworkers and I go here about once a week, and are never disappointed. read more
