It was the most amazing mix of cranberry sauce, turkey, bacon, and a gang of other ingredients. I had a dark and white mix of chunky turkey meat that was just filling enough. This is the best sandwich deli in Alameda. They are busy during lunch, so I usually call in a roast beef sammy on dutch crutch bread and it is always delicious. Employees and owner are very nice and prices are very reasonable. Want a sandwich in town, go here. read more

This place is a RIP OFF! I know a place where you can get 3 better tasting sandwiches for the SAME price. The sandwiches here have no flavor at all, the terriyaki chicken was whack, and the stuff keeps falling out of the sandwich whenever you bite. Never again... I visited with my daughter and after starting to eat we discovered we needed napkins. Looked inside and outside the restaurant and found no dispenser anywhere . I approached the counter asked the owner for napkins. What followed was a bizarre conversation: Me..Excuse me- I need some napkins? Owner.. You have napkins. Me .. I didn't get napkins. Owner.. They are in the bag. Me.. No- there are no napkins in the bag At this point the owner motioned me to hand him the bag so he could paw through it in hopes of proving I was either stupid or a liar. Clearly, turkey is the way to go here. The place smells like thanksgiving. Folks are friendly and efficient, and there's one little table in there if you want to eat on the premises. There are a number of veggie options, including a variety of marinated tofu specials. I think a Sandwich Board picnic on the beach on a sunny day would be a little slice of heaven. read more

Best sandwich spot in Alameda, hands down. Especially if you like turkey - they roast their own turkeys daily, so the meat is actually real turkey meat and delicious. Light and dark meat, whatever you want. Also really good turkey salad, as well as all the other regular sandwich meats you could ask for. There is only limited seating so this is really a takeout place - though there are 2-3 small tables and a bench if you want to eat in. They're quick and the sandwiches are great, what else is there to say? The fresh/real turkey really sets this place apart from most other delis that will give you that standard sliced or processed meat. The turkey here is right off a freshly cooked bird - what more could you ask for?!! read more

My boyfriend has showed me the error of my ways in not getting my turkey sandwiches with cranberry when available. When I walked into Sandwich Board today, I knew I was going to need cran on my nice thick slices of turkey, but so many of the options feature cranberry! Even though it was a struggle to narrow it down (but that one has bacon! but do I need bacon? BUT IT'S BACON) the turkey/cran/slaw sandwich is delish. I have been going to Sandwich Board for a while now and decided to yelp this deli. My boyfriend and I always get their bbq chicken and bbq beef sandwiches. Delicious :D. Inside this deli it has two small tables and some tables outside also. This place is not meant for dine in, but most people to go their sandwiches anyways. Workers here are very welcoming and nice. I believe the owners are Korean, if not oops. This deli is a nice spot in Alameda if you are craving any type of sandwiches. Across from this place is Alameda Grill which is a burger joint also own by Koreans. Maybe its a family business going on. Knock off one star for parking and dine in space. Otherwise, I love their sandwiches and they have not yet messed up my orders every time I come here. Check them out! read more

I have to say that I was dissappointed to read this great review by KJ and then find that he only gave it three stars. This is one of my top choices for sandwiches in Alameda. It's very small inside (no seating), but it always smells like Thanksgiving in there and though you'll drop 10 dollars on a sandwich, chips and a drink, you come away from the meal often feeling like you've just eaten Thanksgiving dinner! Huge sandwiches! I always order the Turkey delight (two meals for me) with sprouts, avocado, onions, peppers, tomato and you always get a choice of white, dark or mixed fresh carved turkey... the works. Every time I'm driving down Park Street, I turn to this little shop for the best sandwiches one can find in Alameda. I always order Susan's special, which has turkey and cranberry sauce. YUM. I've never actually eaten in the Sandwich Board, I only order take out since the place is so small! The prices are kind of high (for sandwiches, ~$7 for six inches), which is why I only come probably 2-3 times a month. They roast four turkeys every day, and make all of the turkey sandwiches out of whole meat. I wasn't exactly sure when I walked into the little hole in the wall, but this is a stupidly good sandwich. Go in there, get a turkey sandwich, and you'll just be happy for the rest of the day. read more

Always love this place. I work around the corner and their sandwiches are frickin' amazing. The turkey is cooked in house and the breads are super soft and fresh. I love the daily special for $7.45 includes a super stuffed sandwich, a can of soda and a bag of chips. And the bag of chips is a real bag of chips, not one of those tiny, dinky bags that are 75% air and 25% chip. The service is quick and friendly. This is THE sandwich shop in Alameda to go to, hands down! read more

I like to support local businesses, so I was really eager to try this place. I went in today and ordered my $9 reuben. To my disappointment, they just toast the bread and microwave the meat when I ordered it hot. I live 5 minutes away and once I got it home, it was cold, soggy, and sad. Tried this place yesterday because there no sandwiches shop near where we work( only subway ). Brought 4 sandwiches and the sandwiches were kind of small and taste dry and sour because they put too much peppers and there is no tomato in the sandwiches. I guess they charge extra for tomato. I had the turkey deluxe because thats what the lady at the counter suggested..really small sandwich (abouth the lenght of a 6inch at subway)and over-priced($8.95) big chunks of turkey and good deli-style mustard on dutch crunch with everything..it wasnt bad but could be better...Roxies is the best when I'm home in SF but Alameda being a small town I guess there isn't too much selection..I still love Alameda tho. read more

Soon you have a nine to ten dollar sandwich that is still just alright. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying that much for a sandwich once in a while. I just cannot justify it anymore with places like Cafe Fudgelato and Scolari's, both of which make sandwiches that blow this place out of the water, sometimes for a few bucks less to boot. The one thing I will say in Sandwich Board's favor is that they are pretty fast. So fast in fact that if you do not know what you want the guy taking orders will tap his pen on the list of options and huff and puff until you decide. So know what you want. Small business+charmingly low overhead (literally)+over 30 year track record+adorably non-functional website=easy to love on yelp. I have to agree with the posters inside near the cash register of various people who have taken photos with the owner praising his sandwiches; I love them! I usually come here on my bike after hitting the 24 hour fitness on Alameda soaking wet from the pool looking for a turkey sandwich and always buy 2. The Susan's and the Jeff's, although the owner says that the Turkey Delight (sprouts and avocado) is the best-seller. If you like cranberry with your turkey, then I believe Susan's is your sandwich. I usually interchange the two sandwiches on Dutch Crunch and sourdough. So yummy. So well made. I swore to myself to never eat at Subway while this place is open, limited as the hours are. I may upgrade this embargo however since this place's sandwiches are among the best I've ever had, and as a former Subway employee, can tell you that the taste of dishwasher and bread fumes is not very appealing. Like not love! Your sandwich is going to cost $8-$9 and once you add something to drink and chips you are looking at $12. First of all, I think that that is a little much for lunch AND although I appreciate that they are not using deli meats for their sandwiches...there are other shops that don't either. Also, I didn't think that the service was that great. The guy took my money and put the sandwich in a bag. I don't expect too much so it was fine, but I don't know what service other people are commenting on. My sandwich was good, but not to where I am going to be clamoring to return or making it a weekly routine. I did like that I was full after eating, and I enjoyed my sandwich.
