The place is still operating as of July 28, 2020. This was my first time here and realized I have often overlooked this shop, primarily because it is closed during the times I have frequented the area. I tried to call in the order, hoping my sandwich would be ready to pick up by the time I got through midday traffic. I got there and was told my order was lost, so they had to redo it. That was a bummer as I expected to be in and out. *trying to keep the covid situation in mind, I didn't make a fuss* So I waited to place my order as they only allow one person inside at a given time due to the CDC/city restrictions. I shouted my order through the door at the girl who told me the order had been lost. After waiting outside with the dumpster scent wafting in the air, I finally got called in to pay to pick up. I picked up a bag of chips and some drinks to split. Unfortunately there were a few things that did not make the mark for me: they lost my order and did not call back ( there should be a phone AND name system so people don't take another's food), they forgot the cranberry sauce on my Susan sandwich (the whole reason I ordered that in the first place!) and side of pepperoncini, and lastly the owner/manager (an older asian man who had taken my order over the phone) forgot to give me the total cost of my meal and receipt. As someone who has dealt with identity theft, that's a big turn off! The food itself was decent but lacked the tartness of the cranberry sauce that was not added to my food. The white meat turkey was better in my opinion, the dark meat tends to taste a little more iron-y when it's boiled (at least I think it was boiled instead of baked turkey). I would be willing to give this place another shot some time down the road. For the moment, I am not thrilled to return. read more

I moved to Alameda not long ago, before that I was in Albany, Zarri's poorboy sandwich has been staple for many locals for a very very long time. So far the only sandwiches that hold up is Angelo's in richmond and this place right here! super generous with the meats and high quality. you can tell this place has been around for a while. They are also one of the very few businesses that are standing up against that ridiculous slew of false ADA compliance law suits taking place all over the bay area. What kind of monster attacks a small mom n pop shop like that? I tried the susan special as reviews said it was their specialty, but I definitely prefer the poorboy, it is just in a class of its own. of course the susan special was also great in its own right. Sandwich Board is a small family-owned shop that sells traditional deli sandwiches (i.e. roast turkey, ham, roast beef, pastrami, salami, tuna, etc.). When you walk in, you give your order at the counter, wait for them to make it, and then pay at the other end. If they aren't busy, it'll take around 5 minutes at most, so this is a great place if you're in a rush. Finding parking off of Park Street is another story. You can get a sandwich from almost anywhere, so why go here? As many Yelpers mentioned, they roast their turkey on-site every day, which makes a huge difference. The turkey was fresh, flavorful, and not as sodium-packed as your usual lunch meat. I ordered the turkey cranberry on a whole wheat roll (no pickles or onions) and really enjoyed it. It was simple, healthy, and tasty. Although, I would say it was on the smaller side even though it was $7-$8. Still...I wish there was more turkey. But...I'll still be going back. read more

Delightful and delicious sandwich at this quaint Alameda shop. They clearly take a lot of pride in their freshly roasted turkey, this isn't your deli's sliced turkey but actual fresh roasted turnkey pieces and you can even get a mix of white and dark meat. I had an amazing fresh roasted turkey, bacon and cheddar sandwich on Dutch crunch bread, it was just the right size and I was very impressed. I needed to pickup sandwiches for a lunch meeting and decided to check my options on Yelp! Usually I go to one of the grocery store deli counters. So happy I found Sandwich Board! First, was east for me to call in my order and then pick up. Which was good since there was a line out the door. Evidently everyone else was ahead of me in learning about this lovely gem. BONUS -- They have fresh roast turkey every day! I believe the quality of the sandwiches were far superior than the grocery store delis, and a little bit cheaper. Lived here for 20+ years and never came across this gem. Love the quality of all ingredients, and the value is incredible (these sandwiches are not for the faint of heart). My friends and I had an A's game to go to this past Saturday. They were going to swing by and pick me up, but suggested we picked up sandwiches in Alameda before heading to the game. I don't usually get sandwiches, so I went on Yelp for some sandwich places. After reading reviews, I decided on Sandwich Board. What interested me was that they fresh roasted turkeys, which they have done since 1982. Located on Webb St. off Park St., the Sandwich Board is basically a 'take out place', though it does have a couple of tables outside should you want to enjoy your sandwich there. Their sandwich options include your choice of meats, bread, cheeses, and extras. There are also Special and hot sandwiches as well as sandwiches for vegetarians and salads too. There wasn't a waiting line when we arrived and the two girls at the counter took our orders and quickly started building our sandwiches. I ordered the Susan's Special which was highly recommended by Yelpers. I opted for dark meat with Swiss cheese on a Dutch Crunch roll and this sandwich includes bacon and cranberry and I included lettuce and mayonnaise for my condiment choices. The sandwich was very tasty and the turkey was moist and tender. Nice getting fresh roasted turkey and not processed turkey. We were happy with our sandwiches and would be coming back again. Famous for their roasted turkey, I usually go with the roast beef. All sandwiches so far have been delicious and delightful. They let you customize them to your liking and it's easy to get the exact sandwich you want. *Disclaimer: I ordered thru Door dash Delivery. This is my favorite place to order delivery from when I forget to make my lunch for work. Their Veggie on Dutch crunch is so yummy! Not a lot of places use cream cheese spread instead of mayo on their Veggie, so this is a plus for me since I hate mayo. I am giving this place 5 stars. My fiancé would give it 3 because it was simply a sandwich shop. But I think that warrants a perfect score. All too often, we say '3 stars' or '4 stars' because *nothing went wrong*. My argument is that that deserves 5, or a perfect score, because their rating shouldn't be penalized when they didn't everything right. At any rate, turkey is their specialty.
