First time here today. Tried their BLT. I really liked it. We got there about 40 mins before closing and we were welcomed with a smile and the sandwich was made to order. You can get a free drink with a sandwich purchase for checking in with Yelp. I used the offer and had no problems. I really like how they pack a lot of bacon in their BLT. A very good sandwich shop with friendly, welcoming staff (the manager and head chef especially). All of their regular menu items are great: I've had several of them. But the daily specials are especially superb, ranging from offerings like blackened turkey breast to a red onion beef brisket sandwich. The specials are so good that they are often sold out by mid-afternoon, if not sooner. They also make some awesome cookies, ranging from your traditional big chocolate chip and sugar to more exotic creations like chocolate bacon. They are all big, chewy, and delicious. I've been here twice now and have been entirely underwhelmed both times. The Good: Its nice and clean and decorated well. They make their own bread. The Bad: Rosemary mayo on the BLT is extremely overpowering for a simple BLT. This is coming from someone who loves Rosemary. They microwave all of their meats which gives them a rubbery consistency. A small flattop griddle would probably save this place. Ham and Brie had 1 slice of brie down the middle of the sandwich.. meaning only 1 out of 3 bites even had a slight sense of brie-ness. Not enough options for sides. So far only coleslaw and potato salad. This is a minor gripe to be honest, but with an already somewhat limited offering of sandwiches, I'd like to see perhaps a side salad or something akin to that. I really want to like this place because there are so few food options by my office off of Edsall but until they round out their concept, it's just another mediocre sandwich place. You take the time to bake your own breads, take the time to put quality and properly made ingredients on them. Ditch the microwave, have people wait another minute for their sandwich. My first time here. Was in the area on business and I let Yelp pick my lunch. Yeaaa Yelp! I ordered the #7 shrimp salad sandwich. It was kicked up with some Old Bay and that did the trick. It was served on the softest ciabatta roll I've ever had. This is a classic great sandwich like you'd find in a neighborhood deli. Sandwich Republic has nice decor that makes you feel welcomed. You can even sit outside if you'd like. The gentleman behind the counter was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. All I can say is WOW! Little background, I grew up in NY, and have lived in many different places. Wherever I have lived, I try to search out a good deli, or at least someplace to grab a good sandwich. Unfortunately in this area, these places are few and far between, especially in the 'burbs where i live and work (I live in Centreville, work in Springfield) While this place NOT a deli, it does have an amazing sandwich, and I cannot wait to go back and try others. It started out calling to get directions, because I knew it was a little hidden, and the gentleman who answered the phone was patient, and gave perfect directions to find the place, without being quick, condescending or dimissive. I got there at lunch time, and there were a few people in the place. I ordered the spare rib sandwich, and it took maybe 4 minutes to be ready. As I was ordering it, the guys behind the counter who were there to prepare the sandwich were already putting it togetehr, and by the time I was done paying it was practically ready. I wish more eateries would have staff like that, quick, efficient, no nonsense. And the sandwich looked ready and delicious, not thrown together and smashed. I got it back to the office, and didnt have a chance to eat i for about 30 minutes. Even after that ime, it was still warm and delicious. The bread is fresh (wich and good sandwich expert knows can make or break the sandwich), the meat was unblievably tender, juicy and flavorful, the cheese and arugula added both a crunch and a smoothness that was a perfect compliment. I dont think I actually took a breath during the first half of it, I just woolfed it down it was so good. After I was done, I immediately told anyone who I worked with, and who would listen, that they needed to try this place ASAP. And you should too. From my understanding, their tanoori chicken is another of their specialties, that will be lunch tomorrow. The only reason this place did not get 5 stars (and I wih I could have given it 4 and a half), is the price point compared to the portion size. If I am paying $11 and change for a soda and a sandwich, I would like a little bit more meat. Do not get me wrong, it wasn't a small portion, but I am accostomed to ordering at a delit and not being able to fit my mouth around a sandwich, and this is not the case here. Don't let that deter you though, its a wonderful sandwich shop, definitely one of the best in the area, and I will update after I try a few more of their specialties. read more

The people who give this place 1 or 2 stars doesn't know how food without additives taste like... I love that Sandwhich republic have decided to go 100% Natural. We eat so much stuff with additives and things we can't even pronounce and more and more people get cancer etc. I was here yesterday with my fiance and future mother-in-law. We wanted to try out this place as we have been trying to find a caterer for our wedding and it seems like we found it! Needed a quick bite to eat, saw a new place and decided to try it out. Ordered the Tandoori chicken on Ciabatta roll. Usually I think of a Ciabatta roll as excessively chewy, but not this roll, it was perfect. Got the yogurt sauce on the side and the server made sure to tell me that the sandwich was on the spicy side. Loved the sandwich, got a black cherry bottled soda with it and some chips. A nice break from the crazy chain land of Springfield food eateries. Fresh sandwiches, quick and friendly service. While I'm usually not crazy about ciabatta bread, theirs is freshly baked so it's not super dry. I recommend the Short Rib sandwich - they use meat that's been slow cooked and tastes like it just fell off the bone with savory au jus, tomatoes, and cheese (that may even be improved if it was more melted.) Great portion size and worth the $9 price tag. The location is a little weird but it's hard to find cozy and quaint in the suburban metro Springfield sprawl, at least there are a few nice cafe tables and a bar to grab a bite for lunch. I had the tandoori chicken, my husband got the italian, and our kids shared a grilled cheese w/ham. My favorite was the kids grilled cheese w/ham. I don't know, I'm not an expert on wonderful sandwiches. I think that the breakfast sandwich at subway tastes good. My husband doesn't like subway. he likes Jimmy John's Gourmet sandwiches in Nebraska (do they have JJ's out here in VA?) He likes thinks Quiznos is ok, and he visits various delicatessens. *shrug* I had a bite of each and thought everything was ok, or just a little better than ok. My husband thought it was really good. in the end, 1/2 of the tandoori sandwich ended up on the floor (my son accidentally dropped it). but 1/2 of the sandwich was enough for me. On the other hand a full italian (though delicious) was not enough for my husband, he ordered a roast beef sandwich and shared it with my son. ultimate test, would we return? I'm not giving this place more than 3 stars because: 1. The meat on most of the meat sandwiches is a little sparse, 2. Two sandwiches and a couple of sides will set you back almost $20 (and that's WITHOUT a beverage) 3. The seats/tables in this tiny spot are fairly uncomfortable - and this is coming from a petite, normal-weight gal. Other than that, the sandwiches are great (in flavor and fresh bread) and the staff is very friendly. The tandoori chicken and the roast beef w/Havarti cheese and wasabi mayo are a couple of my favs. Unlike the meat sandwiches I've had there, the tuna sandwiches are pretty hearty. ***UPDATE*** The ATM does charge a fee! Don't let them tell you it's a free-of-charge ATM. Finally a great sandwich place for the Springfield area! We saw the sign for months and finally, they're open. I stopped by yesterday (May 8th) to see what it's all about. My first impression was that is a very clean place. The employees are super friendly and the ones making the sandwiches were dressed in chef's attire. There are many choices and for each one can add toppings like tomato, lettuce, mayo etc. Ordering is simple - just say the number. I had the #4 which is roast beef, havarti and wasabi mayo. Very juicy, flavorful sandwich and a nice size too. It's perhaps a little more expensive than say potbelly, but it seems like a bit more upscale ingredients too. Unfortunately, they're building a large building (a hotel?) next door so the outside seating is not very pleasant yet but that will change once the building is completed. read more

Absolutely great experience and I plan to come back many more times! I came in here just a couple minutes before closing, but the cashier was still very friendly and willing to help. Even when I was trying to rush my friend who was still deciding, the staff told us to take our time and that there was no rush. Once we finally decided, the sandwiches were prepared very quickly and held up well, and - most importantly - were delicious!
