Came here on the recommendation of our concierge, for "Green Chile Burgers"...this a a local diner type restaurant specializing in a mix of diner, Mexican/Santa Fe options. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner; we came for lunch. Menu options from starters of chips/salsa/guac, soups and salads, chili fries. Entree choices vary from tacos, chalupas, enchiladas, flautas, steaks, and other specials. Saturday had specials of pork chops, trout and fried chicken. The guys got the green chili cheeseburgers- which they enjoyed, came with fresh fried potato chips. Friend ordered the trout which she enjoyed, we got the fried chicken which we do not recommend. The chicken was really dry, especially the dark meat and breast, needed seasoning! Vegetable s were ok but the biscuit was delicious. Their bakery case was full of homemade cakes and pies: chocolate cake, banana cream pie, coconut cream pie and bourbon pecan pie were all excellent! read more

We got the albondigas soup, the green chile burger, and a piece of tres leches pound cake. The albondigas soup was like a good vegetable soup with meatballs. Flavorful but not spicy and I felt like it needed more salt. I liked it though. The bacon green chile burger was good but I would have preferred if it was a bit spicy. It was pretty mild. Still delicious though! I also felt like it could have used a touch of salt. We got the chile cheese home fries on the side (Christmas style) and they were delicious. The pound cake was pretty dry and didn't remind me of tres leches at all. I probably wouldn't get it again. read more

I'm a burger girl. Been that way forever, and give me my dive burgers best. This is not a dive place, but it has dive taste! I When I moved to the Santa Fe area, many moons ago, I loved going out my way to get a Bobcat bite burger. Nothing like the harmony of ground beef, cheese, with a well seasoned flattop, topped with our state staple, green chile. Throw in the handmade chips.. now we're cooking! This little place, tucked into a shopping center, provides that! The burgers were done just right, and being able to get a6 oz for me and 10 oz for hubby, was perfect. We added the Texas chili fries for some variety, with a brownie for late night. Don't feel like burgers? Have more carnivore cravings? They can do that to, with steaks, pork chops and chicken. This is one of the best spots in Santa Fe...in fact...most of the good restaurants are in dumpy strip malls. What makes there burger so good is the fact that it's not tightly pressed pre-formed meat...there's room for the juice. The fries and wedge salad make this a near perfect meal. The tres leche cake is okay but not the best I've ever had so I'm trying a new dessert next time. Let the tourists have the plaza. read more

If your looking for a good burger the bite has one of the best green chile cheeseburgers in the state. The burger is moist, favorable, and was cooked to perfection. The only gripe I had was that the bottom bun was so soggy that it fell apart while I was eating it! Sad to say it was a grossly overpriced let down, The meat was bland with no real flavor to speak of and the green chili has no Bite or flavor also! For what they charge you'd be better off getting a green Chili double from McDonald's! This is one of those local overpriced Santa Fe hotspots that charges Santa Fe prices and under delivers! The 'new' Santa Fe Bite is better than the Bite downtown. There is a much larger dining room with ample booth, table and counter space. The green chile cheeseburger is still the best in town, and the milkshakes are as thick and creamy as ever. Just brilliant! Supremely juicy and tasty burger. Got the recommended green chili cheeseburger and it is right to be recommended. And cooked to perfection. Somebody complained in another review about a soggy bottom bun. How do you have an exceptionally juicy burger without getting the but a bit moist? If you figure that out, let me know. We substituted fries and they were adequate. Nothing too special. My wife also got a huge slice of banana cream, which she also enjoyed immensely. The best green chili cheese burger we have ever had! We ended our meal with a large slice of chocolate cream pie and coffees. The buns and desserts are all made in house. The food was fresh and nicely prepared; the wait staff welcoming, helpful, and kind; and Covid-safe practices appeared to be adhered to across the board. That said, ask your waitress/waiter to repeat your order back to you. We did not, and she got our order wrong. Nothing egregious, just that we started with two small salads and three orders of French fries, two without salt, to see how things would go. Two beautiful salads arrived and I said, "Wow! These are a small?" The waitress smiled and went back for fries. Well, the fries all came with salt, and the salads turned out to be large (I couldn't finish the fries b/c of the salt, and the salad, because it was more than I wanted). My heart is breaking that by the end of this month, this place will be no more. It is a FANTASTIC green chile cheeseburger. Yes, the green chile doesn't have much bite, but that's probably so that is doesn't compete much with the burger. The burger is cooked exactly to order, is of very high quality meat, and HUGE. Come hungry! To the folks complaining about lack of salt and pepper: There are shakers on the table. What's your problem??? Service was attentive. While I'm sad this place is closing, I am happy to see it end on a high note. All too often, you'll see a restaurant with high reviews, but then you'll see a lot of recent negative reviews basically saying, "What happened to this place???" Four years ago I had a green chili cheeseburger at a place called the Bobcat Bite that completely changed my perspective on burgers. The burger was so perfect that no burger since has been able to truly meet my burger needs. Imagine the horror I experienced when I learned that my dear Bobcat Bite had shuttered. Thankfully, it was re-imagined in the Santa Fe Bite which opened up in the center of town. I have to admit, the name change and the fact that it opened up in a hotel (?!) made me doubt its genuineness. I had to investigate. On a recent trip to Santa Fe, I went (almost immediately) to taste the reincarnated burger. Though the atmosphere was a bit lacking, the burger was not. It was just as fabulous as it was when it was served in that dive on the outskirts of town. The patty is thick, has an excellent beefy flavor, and is extremely juicy. The bun tastes like it was freshly made, just for that burger. The green chili provides some heat, but not too much, and lends its signature chili flavor. I also tried the chili with cornbread. The chili is loaded with chili beans, ground beef, and lots of flavor. The best part was the cornbread though, ask for two pieces. I am happy to report that the Santa Fe Bite is just as good as the Bobcat Bite. They have increased the number of items on their menu, as well as the prices. read more

Upon hearing great things about Santa Fe Bite, I made my way over to the establishment with my young child. Immediately upon entering the restaurant I observed a sign posted at the hostess station which communicated something to the effect of, prices on the menu only available to patrons paying with cash. As an experienced patron of many dine-in restaurants, I've never observed any menu printed to reflect prices respective exclusively to cash purchases, unless of course I'm visiting a food truck or an establishment which only accepts cash. My curiosity, to which I am entitled as a patron of the restaurant, prompted me to inquire about pricing on the menu. (It is imperative that I share, my finances bare no relevance to my question regarding menu prices, however, the principle of the matter was the basis of my inquiry.) In good spirits, I mentioned to the hostess that it was my first time visiting the restaurant and inquired about menu prices regarding cash purchases vs. debit/credit card purchases. My inquiry included asking if cash vs. card prices were printed on the menu. The hostess, a dark haired, older woman with glasses, was extremely cold, and rude, unappreciative of my question. The hostess told me that card prices were not printed on the menu. I asked the hostess what the difference in price might be, to which she responded that she wasn't sure and thought it might be something like 2%. My child and I decided to dine in, and we're excited about the experience, looking forward to a juicy burger. The hostess walked us to a table literally threw a pack of crayons at my child, mentioned the soup of the day, which was something I have never heard of. I communicated to the hostess a question regarding what the soup of the day was, and with her back half turned to me she mentioned Mexican meatballs in an extremely rude and dismissive fashion, and stormed off. Never in my life have I been treated so coldly, rudely, and unwelcome by any hostess in all of Santa Fe, or in all of my life for that matter. After sitting down for a few minutes, I thought to myself, do my child and I really deserve to be treated this way? I answered myself, and looked at my child. I did not want my child to experience the treatment we endured by the hostess and her strong negative energy. My child and I got up and walked out of the restaurant. The disappointment I felt that Tuesday evening was immeasurable. Santa Fe is an amazing city with countless hostess/servers who are down to Earth, hospitable, and above all else, warm, kind, and welcoming; the polar opposite of what the hostess at Santa Fe Bite delivered during our visit. I felt inclined to contact a manager and comment on the treatment my child and I endured. The manager was very kind and encouraged me to visit the restaurant on any day of the week but a Tuesday, when the hostess we were abused by typically works. None of us on this planet are exempt from bad days, nor are we exempt from going through challenges in life. However, it is critical that even on our worst days, if we work in the service industry, we must strive to deliver kindness, a welcoming demeanor, professionalism, and positive energy. My experience at Santa Fe Bite was far from what I expected, and has left a bitter taste in my mouth. The likelihood of me visiting the restaurant anytime soon is slim to none. Perhaps the hostess is working a part-time job once a week, and may be going through something in her personal life, but that is not something that anyone visiting Santa Fe Bite should lay victim to. I've heard the food is good, but the service and ambiance witnessed by my child and I felt like modern day racism. Santa Fe Bite owners, PLEASE consider a hospitality and customer service training for your staff, specifically the hostess with the glasses who works on Tuesday nights, and encourage the importance of positive vibrations and positive energy. This was our first stop on our Santa Fe food adventure and they set a high bar. From the outside it looks unassuming, but they are serving up some seriously delicious local food. I had the Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas. As soon as the server placed them in front of me my first thought was how fresh everything on the plate looked. Every ingredient was delicious and fresh. The enchiladas had tender and flavorful chicken inside with just the right amount of cheese melted on top. On the side there was perfectly prepared rice with corn and black beans. The guacamole on top was amazing. My husband had the 10 Oz. Bacon Green Chile Cheeseburger. They were kind enough to switch out the American cheese for Pepperjack since my husband can't stand the thought of American cheese. I thought my husband was nuts for wasting a Santa Fe meal on a burger, but this was one amazing burger. The meat was flavorful and perfectly prepared with plenty of green chile and crispy bacon.
