My new little fave, finally a place with decent salsa after 6 years of searching. Started with Chicken Tortilla soup which we loved. The special dinner had so much food that it took 3 containers for the two of us to take home. My favorite taste was the chile relleno which was excellent as was the guacamole. Service was excellent and we will be back. I would like a bit more seasonings but growing up on Tex-Mex that is a preference vs Florida style lighter seasonings, but not a major issue. I really liked it. I'd been driving past this place for years and there were always cars in the parking lot and - well - it's been there for years. So I decided to try. They brought chips and salsa right away. The salsa had a slight "kick" to it, but nothing too spicy. They serve Coca Cola products, which is always a plus in my book. I ordered the tacos al carbon and enjoyed them. Very flavorful and tender steak. Plenty of meat. I could only eat two of the tacos. This is one of those places where they don't automatically give you cheese, but the server didn't bat an eye when I asked for it. She was very friendly and attentive. I went on 6/15 and ordered a fried cheesecake to go and my total was $8.03, two days later I get a notification from my bank that a tip was added and my total was now $9.53. I don't care about the $1.50, but they need to hold the girl accountable for stealing someone's hard earned money. I go yesterday and the manager said she wasn't there that she'd be there the next day so I go today after work and he tells me the girl hasn't worked there in 2 months. I asked him to watch his cameras and see who took my order that evening and he said "no, I can't do that" I do not recommend this place at all, I wonder how many people they've stole from! read more

Santa Fe is a hidden gem on Clearwater Largo Rd just north of West Bay. They have a wide variety of options on their menu and the price point is very appealing! We get takeout from here about 1 to 2 times a month and it's convenient for my family. The food is pretty good overall and the portions are big. My favorite part about Santa Fe is the consistency. My food seems to taste the same every single time and I can pick it up 10 minutes after I order. I'd recommend getting the monster burrito - which is absolutely HUGE. It's probably two meals for most. I've also had the chimichangas and they are solid plus the sauce is delicious. You can't go wrong with chips and queso as well but I wish there was a little more kick to it. The homemade chips are one of the best though so it evens out. I hope this place continues to be consistent because I will keep giving them my business! read more

Yummy food but the enchiladas were lukewarm. We went and tried the fajitas. They were hot and were grilled to perfection, except for the lack of spices. I'm convinced ancestry.com has me all wrong. I'm certain I must have a huge percentage of Mexican DNA in me, because I could eat Mexican food every day. We tried Santa Fe at lunch. The restaurant was bright, cheery, & clean. The server was excellent. The prices for their lunch specials were a deal as well. Our server brought out complimentary chips & salsa. The chips were warm & tasty. The salsa was thin & tomato-based & tasty. However it was mild to bland. I ordered a combo that came with a beef burrito & a chili relleno. The burrito was large & filled with a humongous amount of fresh ground beef. Sadly though, that was all I could detect in the filling. I ate it first & probably am ground-beefed out for the next month. I saved the chili relleno for the end, figuring it'll have some seasoning & spice. Unfortunately it was bland. It was a large poblano chili that had all its flavor boiled out of it. It was stuffed with tons of ground beef & cheese, & covered with tomato sauce. Santa Fe has a lot going for it. Great servers, a nice restaurant, fair prices, large food servings. But it floundered on flavor. read more

When you are looking for some good Mexican food and are not sure just what review to believe.... BELIEVE THIS ONE! we did come at a very slow time (before dinner) and were seated immediately. But beyond that, the chips and salsa and the food was AHHMAZZING!! Fresh and hot and tasty and just what we were craving. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are good sized! You should not leave hungry!! We were surprised to see it not at least a 4.5 star on here! It was, however 4.2 with over 920 ratings on google which is why we tried it. This was my second visit and I think this is solid Mexican food at an affordable price. We were promptly seated in a booth and chips and salsa came right out. We order the pitcher of the margarita. I know margs are supposed to be tart but it was just a bit too sour for me. We did finish it though because we know better than to waste alcohol. This time around, I ordered the Mixed Fajitas, which comes with steak and chicken and all the veggie fixins (sides of sour cream, guac, lettuce, and pico de gallo). It also came with 3 tortillas that came warm. I think by the time my food came, I was already on the second basket of chips and salsa so I only finished half my entree. My boyfriend got the enchilada de mole which he said was just okay. Service was very good and I thought the food was great too. They seated us together as close as possible to other patrons at the front of the restaurant where the waitress would not have to walk far I suppose. I thought maybe they might distance us from other folks... Oh so NOT appetizing. Let's start with the "Salsa". It tasted like tomato purée. No spice, no flavor. I ordered the hot salsa, it was greener...Still watery with an unsavory heat flavor without being hot at all. I ordered the Beef Monster burrito, and beef nachos. The burrito arrived like it had cheese on top at some point, but it melted into the bottom where it turned into a watery greasy mess. I opened it up, and greasy hamburger ran out. No spice, no cheese just a greasy, soggy mess. The Nachos arrived with the worst presentation possible. Fried out super greasy hamburger on top of chips that used to have white cheese on them, but now resemble just hamburger, and not real good hamburger. Cheese was terrible. It melted into a greasy mess on the bottom of the plate. Sorry folks, you guys need to taste your own dishes. I asked for pickled jalapeños, and got what tasted like a pickled sweet pepper. Beans and rice were utterly a disappointment!! I won't try this restaurant again, and I DO NOT recommend it to anyone. read more

The service was meh. The food was bland and flavorless. One of the dishes was floating in water and had to be sent back, not much appetite after that. The bowl of queso was like warmed milk, not a cheese dish at all. The ribeye steak was thin with little flavor. It seemed as though nothing had any seasoning at all. I will not come here again. I don't understand! Reviews are all so good that I stopped here after a day at the beach. I picked a table by the window,aand that was a huge mistake. There was a big gross smear the size of a dinner plate on the window at eye level. The table was not clean, just wiped with visible steaks and water marks. So I felt like I was sitting in a petri dish. But the reviews were good.... So I waited it out. The food arrived and was very generous portion. The chicken was better than average. The rice was not even warm, and tasted like nothing. So I probably would not have stopped agsin. However, 14 minutes after leaving, before I got even home, I had to pull into a Walgreens to use the restroom. Any place that gives me diarrhea 15 minutes later deserves a call to the Health Department, not my business ever agsin. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

This is my friend's favorite Mexican restaurant. Everything is made fresh. Their Chile Rellenos is one of the best I have ever tasted. We also tried the lunch burritos, tacos and quesadillas. All were great. The chips and salsa were equally as good. The waiter from Peru was attentive and friendly. Will certainly be returning soon. One thing that irks me when your food arrives cold and you're one of 15 people in the entire place. When asked if they had a guacamole tostada. The answer was a definitive no! It didn't seem like the waitress was too happy to be there. And yes both items were cold. I had them redo the enchilada. If you want below par service this is the place. Ugh so disappointed! First time at Santa Fe Mexican Grill. Service was pleasant. Food was very good. Had grilled chicken with green peppers, onions with white cheese. The chicken was so tender. Loved the refried beans. The only reason I only gave it 3 stars is because when the bill came we were charged $17.50 for a pitcher of Bud Light. The menu price said $9.90. When we questioned the bill, the waitress explained they had recently changed their prices. When we asked to look at the menu again, she failed to show us a menu with the "new" prices. I was really happy to find this place, good, inexpensive food, but then had a disgusting experience there of finding two used straws shoved in my little salsa bottle that the waitress brought to our table. They obviously quickly refill the salsa bottles without cleaning them between customers, so who knows what other hygiene issues are going on. I've eaten in several places that the appearance wasn't the best, but the food brings me back there every so often. The salsa and chip was very good. We order guacamole and it was tasteless. We live in the immediate neighborhood, and only like the Santa Fe chicken dish they serve. We came here tonight and that particular dish was completely different from the last three times that we've had it. We asked the waiter, he said he was new. He said he could discount the meal on our bill but I asked again to see a manager. "Lao" came to our table and said it's the same dish they've been serving and said he would discount our meal. I said that wasn't the point, as I was looking for a quality meal. He said it's the same dish... it was not. We paid $40 something (we split it) for a not-great-meal.
