I don't usually dine in, I am a carryout kind of guy 70% percent of the time. As others have said, this in not a fancy restaurant, but the food is really pretty decent. The breakfast burritos are very good and the smothered chili rellenos are also top notch. The menu is not very extensive, but if you want good, fast, inexpensive food this is your place. read more

This review is for the Santiago's in Superior, CO. We always get the crispy chile rellanos and they're always really delicious. The batter dip is tasty and crisp and the lettuce tomato portions are generous. We are a vegetarian house so we pass on the chili but it's tasty enough not to need it. Got take out today for lunch. They were 'out' of the rellanos and need to make them. Ok we can wait. Unfortunately what they served us were a green chili wrapped in a tortilla (or something) deep fat fried and NO CHEESE. There was about 3 tablespoons of shredded lettuce and 2-3 pieces of diced tomatoes. Rather than punting, they should have just said they were out and we would have selected something else or come back another day. Instead we have spent our last $30+ at this place. Never again. Keep it up Santiago's and you'll join the rest of the restaurants the never make it more than a few years in Superior. read more

I have long been familiar with Santiago's for their regionally well known, omnipresent but decidedly average breakfast burritos. But I finally made it to an actual location for dinner, and I was pleasantly surprised. It's casual Mexican standards at a good price, but everything can be smothered with delicious, spicy green chile, and that makes it stand out. Interesting building, quick friendly service. read more

Today my daughter and son-in-law picked up lunch at Santiagos in Lafayette, CO. My husband said his pork burrito was "ok". I ordered the taco salad with beans. Instead of a taco salad shell, there was a layer of tortilla chips :-(. There was maybe, 3 tablespoons of refried beans, a small amount of shredded lettuce and tomato. They did include 4 tiny cups of salsa but 1 or 2 of those should have been sour cream. I can't speak for the service today but we have been there before so its basically a take out place with a few tables if you want to eat there. What I received WAS NOT a taco salad, we won't be ordering there again. read more

Santiago's is the bomb. It's always one of the first spots I hit when I'm visiting home because I get serious cravings when I'm away. Now up front, let me be very clear: it is ALL about the green chile here. If you do not order green chile, I cannot be held responsible for any disappointment you face. I recommend the Beef and Bean Burrito Deluxe. It's the only thing I order anymore, and sometimes I get two. Don't judge me. I get the deluxe version (smothered in green chile w/lettuce, tomato and cheese on top) because I like the cheese, and I enjoy the little bit of crunch the lettuce provides...the whole package seems meant to be. If the toppings aren't doing it for you, you can just get it smothered in chile. You CANNOT order it without green chile. I won't allow it, and the restaurant shouldn't either. You get a choice of mild, hot, or half/half (medium) chile. I like spicy things, and the hot has a perfect amount of heat...packs a punch, but stops just short of being painful. Try the half/half if you like a little spice but aren't ready to dive in head first. To sum up, if you order a plain taco or some other nonsense without green chile, don't come crying to me that you don't like it. If you get a burrito of your choice smothered in the good stuff, I promise you won't regret it. read more

Apparently now they are served on a flour tortilla. That's not an indian taco. I don't know what that is. Service is still very friendly, tho. So that's good. We'e eaten here occasionally; the dining area is tiny so it works better as a takeout place. The carnitas are especially good: crispy but moist and not too fatty (the carnitas platter is a good choice). The breakfast burritos are also very good but tiny, so order lots of them. One drawback is that they only have one flavor a day (e.g., bacon), so you have to take whatever they have. A hidden gem is the delicious frozen tamales, which they sell in bulk to take home. We ordered delivery today through GrubHub, which was OK; not especially speedy, and a few errors in the order, but what we got was still tasty and enough for us. read more

Santiago's is a Colorado classic, and I absolutely had to get my fix on a recent trip to the area. I grew up eating at Santiago's Fort Morgan location before this now-chain swept the state, and have always enjoyed their uniquely Colorado take on classic Mexican. Although a Coloradan by birth, I grew up in Texas surrounded by Tex-Mex, so I was always interested in the different ways the two regions and communities approached Mexican food, and Santiago's really does Colorado-style Mexican food right. We ordered take-out for a big family party on a Friday night. As vegetarians, we both got the classic bean and cheese stuffed sopapillas. My girlfriend, a native Texan, had never had a stuffed sopapilla, so I was excited for her to try this savory version of what is classically only served as a dessert in other regions. It was perfect- fluffy and fried, and stuffed with well-seasoned frijoles. In addition, I had to throw in a chile relleno, my favorite, which was equally as good. My mouth was watering from even looking at the non-vegetarian green chile, which I used to order by the bowlful in my meat-eating days. You can call in an order, which is great if you have a large group to feed. They can get a dozen or more burritos done in no time flat! I do like their smothered burritos - but you can't eat for a week before going to get one, because they are HUGE and you will be STUFFED. I do like their pulled chicken, but I'm not a giant fan of the beef. Another thing to note is that amount of styrofoam this business uses... its shocking. I prefer to order straight up burritos when I go because I know they will come wrapped in foil. Everything is 5 stars except the treatment of the employees. -Food 5 -Staff 5 -Ambiance 5 I have told ownership so many times, please allow us to leave gratuities for your staff on the debit card. It would increase the hourly wage of the team members, at this location, by at least three dollars an hour. I have reached out to the owner via email and the only response that I got was "we care very much about our employees and we are looking into making this adjustment" this email was sent to me over four months ago and still there is no opportunity to leave money for the staff on the debit card. Why? I wonder if the staff has been told, "We do. It want you getting paid more money because ________." This comes at no cost to ownership. Now, I will be true to my word and never returned this location until I receive an email from ownership telling me this is been rectified. In the best interest of the people and families that ownership lives off of the backs of. If I owned this location, which I don't, this would last one day before I would make the WORKERS HAPPY AND THE GUESTS HAPPY. Sweet cow does it, TIP SHARE program and the staff says they pick up an envelope, every week with $80 each, of they work 25 hours. THIS PROVIDES BETTER LIVES FOR THE FAMILIES OF WORKERS.
