My friend and I had been talking about going to Benihana or Kyoto. When I discovered Sapporo was open, she and I decided to come here instead. I had the three sushi roll special and chose spicy tuna, sweet potato, and shrimp tempura. All three for only $11.95. The rolls were all good and wrapped well. She chose the tatsuta age (Japanese fried chicken nuggets) as an appetizer and said those were good as well. I had the hibachi lunch steak and shrimp meal. The meal was average and what you'd expect. The salad and miso soup that comes with it were good. We were seated in the dining area separate from the hibachi grills. There were only two hibachi grills that were occupied and we were the only table in the back area, but I believe our waitress forgot about us. I had to go and get her to request things a couple of times. Overall, a good choice in this area. I would return for the sushi since they have a wide variety of rolls. read more

Fantastic service! Decent food. Lobster was not good quality. Scallops were very good. Filet was by far the best quality & taste out of everything we ate (We had Sapporo for 2). Service was 4.5 Star! Food quality was 2.5/3 Star. Chef showmanship & cooking was 4 Star. Using house sauce (teriyaki) on everything is not cool...makes everything taste exactly the same. Absolutely worst service I've ever received. Where do I start...after waiting forever to be seated for our reservation we were able to order our drinks and appetizer. They have a special listed on their website saying if you buy 1 hibachi dinner and sushi roll appetizer you get 2nd hibachi dinner 1/2 off. My husband and I both ordered a sushi roll and a hibachi dinner. Our sushi finally came after the chef started cooking..We were there for my friends birthday and we were so excited for our hibachi experience. The hibachi chef was awful... as we're seeing and hearing at other tables chefs do all of the "tricks" (tossing the egg on the spatula, onion volcano, tossing the veggies, squirting the Sake) our chef did NONE of that. It was so disappointing and the food was just eh. We got our bill and noticed the special wasn't applied. My husband said something and they wouldn't honor it. The waitress came up and rudely said we had to show it to her before. So we have to open up our phones and go to their website to show the waitress the special they have listed? NOWHERE on the website does it say that. It's not a coupon, it's a special that they have listed. I asked the manager to honor it and he refused. He said we have to show it before (again nowhere does it say that) he said because some people want to pay full price.. please put that on your website "must show to waitress because some people want to pay full price". I asked him again to make it right while we were there and he wouldn't. As a business we've spent HUNDREDS of dollars at and supported I can't believe they wouldn't honor their special that would have been under $20 to make right. Absolutely disgusting service and attitude from both the waitress, the manager and no effort from the hibachi chef to create a fun experience for us. I would not recommend going here ever. read more

I'm only giving it a 3 because we had a variety of things and some was better than others but the overall service was great. Sushi: good, plenty of it. I do like the variety of rolls they offer and combinations of mixing and matching rolls. Hibachi: not what we came in for but ended up doing that. The cook wasn't all that entertaining. I mean he was ok but nothing to write home about. Food was of good quality but rather bland. I didn't order the salmon but someone at our table did. We were truly disappointed. I ordered the two orders of the two roll lunch special which comes with a soup and salad. I wish I would've taken picture but one soap had the typical rich cloudy color and the other was clear. The clear soup was water and had no flavor. The salad is just very plain just a bunch of iceberg lettuce, shredded carrot and a single cucumber. My partner and I had the spicy tuna, tuna pepper avocado, California and spicy crab roll. This restaurant recently opened and we weren't sure what to expect, other than it being a hibachi and sushi restaurant. The interior is very nice and elegant, the waitstaff very attentive and polite, the hibachi chef entertaining and talented, and the food is delicious. The only reason it's 4 stars instead of 5 is because we expected a larger portion for dinner because of the price, but overall it was a great experience! Everything in this place could use a great cleaning. Kind of disappointing that after a year of Covid that the place is not clean when we came in to eat a meal this week. When I say everything I mean everything. The restrooms, the tables, the menus, even outside of the dirty windows... There were weeds growing on the patio behind the sign. Make your place look awesome instead of treating it as an afterthought or no thought at all. Literally every single restaurant rescue show that you watch starts off with making sure the place is clean. Secondly I would say that they could improve the decor. The entire place was prison gray with just a few things to give Asian ambience. Service was a little slow. On the bright side the sushi dinner that we had was excellent. My suggestion is that if you like your business you should take great care of it and make sure of the little details (or the big ones) are on point. If I could give no stars I would. This restaurant is not even worth a star. I reside in New Jersey but my family lives in Michigan. I knew I was going to be visiting so I made my reservations a week early. I received a confirmation email stating my reservation was confirmed. Fast forward, we get to the restaurant and the lady says she doesn't have a reservation for us. I show her the email and still nothing. Meanwhile, the manager sees us going back and forth about the reservation and not one time did he chime in. She tells me the computer erased the reservations and they lost all reservations last week. Lies! Finally, I say can I speak to the manager. He explains to me the same thing and tells me I have to wait 45 mins to a hour to be seated. I am LIVID at this point! Here it is I have a confirmed reservation and have to wait like I have nothing. I asked the manager if we wait, will our meal be accommodated and he said no I can't do that with a smirk. Why not? That was not our fault. He didn't offer anything to us but for us to wait. I've never in my life experience this! This was the worse customer service experience I've ever had! We were not prioritized despite having a reservation. 3 families were served before we even got our drinks and when we asked the manager why she told us that she purposely pushed us back because we went over the party limit. I've been in twice so far and I've enjoyed both visits. The restaurant is a welcome addition to the Plymouth Rd strip. The chef was on point both times and he was very entertaining. The waitstaff is very nice too. Coincidentally both times my party was either seated with or joined by others with small children. Really great! Went for my daughter's 13th birthday. First, the sushi is great. She had a rainbow roll, and my husband had the sashimi dinner - it was 18 pieces and only $21.95 - all tuna, salmon, yellow tail, good stuff and very reasonable. Sapparo pints are only $4. Hibachi meal is huge, and excellent, especially the vegetables. Service was excellent and chef was great and fun. Good kids menu too. They put coupons in the little magazines. They gave my daughter a balloon hat, did a song with a drum, and brought her an ice cream dessert. We would come back just for the sushi - really good and less expensive than our normal place. You will be sitting with people you don't know, but it's fine. We had a party of 6 and they include the gratuity, but were very good at making sure I knew it was on the bill already. I called on a Saturday night to make a carry-out order, I asked if they did delivery and girl on the phone said no, i asked if i could do a to-go order and then she hung up on me. The place is close so I called back and told her I wanted to place an order. She said half an hour, I came after half an hour and the place is packed. There was at least 15 of us waiting by the front. I work in service so I understand it's busy and I just waited my turn. While I'm waiting a man came from the bar to go to the restroom, he grabbed my shoulder and said excuse me. I brushed it off cause it was crowded but then I saw him almost fall on his way into the bathroom. He came out and WALKED RIGHT INTO ME. I was furious at that point because not only are we in the middle of a pandemic but he didn't have a mask on and was a stranger bumping into my chest! He was obviously incoherent and walked straight out after I confronted him. I walked to the bar to the 2 gentleman sitting there and asked if they had someone with them, they said yes so I told the bartender she needed to stop serving him because he was way past his limit. She got a major attitude with me and told me he wasn't driving so why did it matter. First of all, he's intoxicated to the point where he's walking into other customers. Second of all, I am certified to serve alcohol in Michigan and it is illegal to serve someone past their limit whether they're driving or not-- she doesn't know if he's actually driving or not and if something were to happen to him that's her legal responsibility. So I was pretty upset with how she just talked to me when i was just bumped into by a strange man while i was just minding my own business waiting for my food. As I'm checking out I ask the woman if she's a manager, she said yes. I explained what had happened with the man and how the bartender had reacted and all she had to say was "oh, I feel so bad. Sorry" Ridiculous and not a way to treat the situation at all. These people have no idea how to treat customers and on top of everything my calamari was cold. read more

Ridiculous is all I have to say...made reservations a month in advance waiting for reservations for 35 minutes still waiting... is it really that hard to block off a reserved table especially when booked that far in advanced??? No it's not, absolutely unacceptable for a restaurant to take a reservation and then come back and tell you to your face that you have to wait because they aren't ready. If this is an issue than your restaurant shouldn't be accepting reservations. People have plans stuff to get done and when making a reservation you are supposed to be sat at or around the time of your call ahead. But for someone whose party made reservations a month in advance you'd think they'd be a little more prepared for what was to come. Unacceptable that the hostess will tell our party that the table we were supposed to be sat at is taken by another group especially when our party got here 10 MINUTES EARLY. Ridiculous unprofessional and do nothing recommend absolutely horrible horrific do not waste your time or spend your money here... even waiting in the waiting area customers waking out saying "don't come here go to the one in northville I don't know why I came to this one" should tell you a lot about service at this establishment. Important to me as my wife was able to order exactly what she wanted. Extremely clean, A very talented and polite staff. Took my daughters here for dinner because I saw it advertised in a local coupon book. We ended up getting a coupon that cost $15 and was worth $30 of food. I have only ever gone to one hibachi restaurant and this one didn't disappoint. Massive amount of scrumptious food, friendly staff, awesome chef. Got a whole bunch of sake squirted into my mouth, so a whole new level of awesome. Just wish there were more patrons! It wasn't slow, but for how yummy it is I thought it would be packed. We came for Hibachi with a group of 5 for a birthday celebration. It took a while to start up the grill because the chefs have to do large groups one at a time. The salad and soup came out very quickly. Once the Hibachi show started, food was delivered in no time. Our chef was entertaining and did a great job. The food was delicious - I ordered the steak and shrimp option. The leftovers were even better the next day! For your birthday you get a song and also a tempura ice cream dessert. Be prepared to spend at least 2 hours for a meal if you want something off the grill. read more
