This location is spacious, classy, full of light and simply pleasant to be in. Oofffff the satisfaction I got out of my meal was over the roof. I couldnt be any happier after that brunch. My friend had blueberry pancakes and it didn't disappoint either. I've always wondered why Sarabeth's is so popular. Unfortunately, the quality of the food does not match the interior and atmosphere. My lobster roll seemed like an afterthought: the bun was not even warm and the lobster was prepared like a salad. The popovers were not hot, but luke warm and overcooked. In the end, I simply was not impressed. There are so many better brunch spots in the city and, as much as I hate to say this, many hotels in the city actually have better food for brunches. read more

After waiting 40 minutes for our food we asked the waiter very politely "is our food coming out soon?" and he replied "I hope so" with a bit of attitude. Then it arrived another 15 minutes later, and two items were missing. We told the food server that two things were missing, and he said he'll get it right away, but never did. The check had these two items on it, so when we told the waiter they never came, he said he'll take them off the check but with no apology and no surprise that they were forgotten. Came here for a late brunch with family on a lovely Sunday summer afternoon. I had heard a lot about Sarabeth's and had seen locations - as far as Osaka. The beginnings were largely a negative. The crab meat guacamole & chips was tasteless: all three parts. The crab meat was devoid of any crab flavor, the guacamole was like eating into mushy nothing, and the chips was like "crunching" into wobbly flavorless cardboard disks. The dainty muffins and sweet jams were tasty, admittedly, but not something I'd go out-of-my-way for. I went for the short rib hash with poblano peppers. It wasn't any mind-blowing but a bit of a deviation from the conventional. The peppers provided a bit of a different flavor to a regular hash. The short rib itself was decent, as it was fairly tender and flavorful. The over-medium eggs on top were perfectly cooked and that I can appreciate. Service was very polite and thoughtful. The only blemish was that I did not get my berry-corn muffin until I brought it up to a server. Otherwise, I appreciated the good service. On a side note, unless you decide to try the handicapped restrooms, the regular restrooms are a bit of a hike (going flights of stairs) from the dining area. The more premium price is for the atmosphere and name; not necessarily the food. 3.5 stars, but I'll raise it a tad because the wait staff. read more

I'll start w/ the good - the ambiance and service of this place is wonderful! It's quite festive and decorated very very well, especially considering it's the holiday season. The bad - the food...ha. I just had a very difficult time understanding the hype behind this place. Perhaps the ambiance just really hits the spot for some people but beyond that, the pancakes were dry and the croissant I shared with my friend wasn't anything mind blowing. My friend got the braised beef hash and she said that she liked it. I didn't try it because I only consume halal meat but again she emphasized that the dish wasn't something she would come back to Sarabeth's. Despite the inclement weather, my friends and I made the trip to Sarabeth's in the city for brunch! We had a reservation for 12:45 pm on a Saturday, but we still had to wait ~10 minutes to be seated. For drinks, we got the blood orange sangria, four flower mimosa, and regular mimosa. We were surprised to discover that the glass for the sangria was twice as filled as the other two drinks. The drinks were stronger than expected with the four flower mimosa smelling medicinal but tasting fine. For food, we got the French toast, wild mushroom scramble popovers, and ham Benedict! The popovers were amazingly warm and soft on the inside and paired nicely with the mushroom, egg, and cheese. The ham benedict was also delicious with a perfectly runny egg and tasty hollandaise sauce. I found it interesting that the bread wasn't the classic English muffin, but rather a crunchier bread that didn't soak up the sauce or egg yolk as well. The location itself was very nice, with a pleasant atmosphere and was actually much larger than I expected! I would definitely add this to your list of brunch places to go in the city! read more

I went here for a birthday brunch this afternoon. The restaurant was super packed during this time so orders got mixed up. Sometimes we couldn't find our server so had to ask someone else to help us out. Our waters didn't get refilled on time, and one of the drink orders didn't come so we had to keep asking for it. A little bit unorganized. Maybe they need more staff?? Also the restroom seemed a bit far from the seating area. Needed more toilet paper as some stalls ran out. But it's a nice atmosphere, and I liked our seating arrangement. We were seated in a booth area which was nice. We were told that it's a popular booth. Anyways, we ordered buttermilk pancakes to start off. It came with strawberries, syrup, and butter on the side. I liked it a lot since it was so tasty. For the entree I tried the hash and sunnyside eggs on top. I had to ask for hot sauce as it needed a kick of some sort. My friends all seemed satisfied with their entrees. At the end, we ordered dessert and it hit the spot. I really enjoyed the banana split out of all the desserts. A lot more than just a diner, Sarabeth's serves some great meals, especially for dinner. My niece hosted a graduation dinner for her fiancé and our extended family. Reservations for 12 were made with no problem and seating in the large dining room was comfortable. Note that there are also private dining rooms in the rear. Free street parking is even available on 27th St after 6pm on a weeknight and all weekend! When we were waiting for the rest of our group to show up, I noted that the Happy Hour menu was quite extensive and will have to come back for the $1 oysters at the bar (5-7pm). I'm always in for Buck-a-Shuck! We started with a shared mix of appetizers that everybody was able to try. Crispy Calamari, Ahi Tuna Tartar, Crab Cakes, Crab Meat Guacamole and Caesar Salad were all done well and each dish looked as nice as they tasted. Ask for extra bread to soak up some of the sauces. I opted for the prix fixe dinner which started with the Velvety Cream of Tomato Soup, which really was as velvety as promised. My Skirt Steak Frites was flavorful, but was more overdone than my medium-rare preference. My sister's Skuna Bay Salmon fillet was also on the dry side, but my wife's Branzino was awesome! My son's typical non-committal comment on his Chicken Pot Pie was "Good", which I can agree on. I drooled at my older sister's Diver Scallops & Pulpo, though. I swear that octopus tentacle was waving to me. There would have been some of my niece's Crab Spaghetti leftover, but my son made short work of that. Of course (pun intended), my sister's and my dinners came with dessert. Hers was the Chocolate Truffle Cake, though really good, was kind of on the small side. I think they committed a faux pas on my Caramelized Banana Split. The banana halves were bruléed, but they must have scooped the chocolate ice cream on too early because it was a puddle next to the scoop of vanilla. My son ordered the Flight of Ice Cream Sandwiches, which was a trio of stuffed cookies with chocolate, vanilla and salted caramel ice cream and looked way better than my banana split. read more

It was a cold, overcast March day and I just wanted a nice, comfortable, sit-down restaurant to have something warm to eat while I read my book. Sarabeth's was a block from my hotel and some of the menu items looked really tasty so I headed over. The hostess and bar area are very nice. There was jazz music playing. It felt very sleek and modern. Unfortunately, the main dining room felt completely different. I felt like I walked in to a 1990s era Marriott hotel restaurant. The service was good. I was offered water right away and shortly after I was greeted by my server. Turns out she was training, so right behind her was a second server who ended up answering my questions and taking care of the rest of my service. They were attentive and friendly. I ordered the Grilled Chicken BLT on Ciabatta. This is described as coming with avocado may and fontina cheese. The "L" in BLT was actually an arugula salad on the side. The server assured me this would be a warm sandwich, so I was pretty excited to get my hands on this meal. I would have given SaraBeth's 3 stars, but on the Yelp scale two stars is "Meh. I've experienced better" and that's exactly how I felt. The sandwich was just bland. I could see the fontina, but I definitely could not taste it. I saw a tinge of green on the top piece of bread, but I did not taste any avocado mayonnaise. The bacon was even flavorless. The chicken had a grill flavor, but not much in the way of seasoning. There was a tomato jam that was also pretty bland. The most flavorful thing on the plate was the arugula salad. It was just super disappointing. read more

I ordered the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict special, which came with a small and simple salad on the side. The crab cakes themselves could have used more seasoning and there was barely any hollandaise sauce on the dish, making the dish rather dry to eat (especially with the dry textures of the fried crab cake and English muffin). Service was friendly but not attentive. It was hard to flag down our waiter so we ended up having to hold our hand out and waving around a few times to get any waiters' attention.
